So the ear piece is bust, Usings a hands free kit at the moment, Knows issue apprently, wondered if anyone knows about replacements? If I put pressure of the upper right of the screen works sometimes untill I let go.

I followed the instructions from here this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=989183
Has been working fine since.
I got a k850i earpiece as recommended but found that the case wouldn't close properly with it in, and as a result the screen lock button didn't work. This was after some filing of the component; I couldn't see how to do any more without wrecking it.
I then realised that Defy earpieces are now readily available on eBay and have one of those which works fine at least for the time being.
[edit] Also, be careful not to loose the plastic volume / lock buttons when you take the case apart....
Okay, Is there soldering required?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
No soldering, although it is a bit fiddly at times and the old earpiece takes some convincing to get out...
Spoke to a shop who will do it, they gave different prices depended on if the ear piece is broken or if its the connection, Surely a new one will solve both issues?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
New earpiece should solve both problems and only costs a few quid, plus another couple for the right torx t5 screwdriver. It's a fairly simple job but if you're not comfortable you could get a shop to do it... Should save any mishaps like me loosing my volume button.

Hello all.
This is my 1st post on here.
I have received my DHD and the battery cover doesn't seem flush from the front. So much so that when trying to find the volume buttons by touch I always press the battery cover instead.
Is anyone else's like this. Wonder if I should get it exchanged.
Many thanks.

Same here, I feel as though it needs to be pushed down more..even though it seems secure. There does seem to be a very slight raised lip.
I feel that my battery cover is secured really well. It's solid as a rock and requires quite a bit of effort to remove.
I do wish the volume buttons were more distinct (i.e. separate or at least with a feelable division between up and down) and stuck out a bit more.
how do you take the battery out of the phone ? mine seams like its stuck in lol

I also find the volume buttons quite hard to feel, especially through the silicone case my phone is in.
I've ended up putting a volume widget on my home screen, as I'm only ever toggling between volume on and silent anyway.

OK. Thanks for your help.
Looks like I'll have to put up with it.

When I got my DHD and went to remove the plastic slip from the battery, I noticed that the battery compartment cover was not flush with the alumiium chassis. So much so, that it was a nightmare taking it off. After exerting a little more force than I'd have liked, I got it to pop off by sliding a fingernail up along the volume switch.
When it came to putting it back on, I noticed there is some "give" at the two narrow sides of the cover - it is possible to get it flush by trial and error. I was surprised that was the case but there ya go, it can be done.
i nearly returned a phone cause of this but if you remove it make sure the back is slid into place, and push down on both sides of the volume rocker at the same time it will fit flush mine was like yours took me 3 attempts to fit it
Exactly the same problem.
Should I get it replaced?
Both DHD covers are dodgy in my experience. Once you get them to fit, don't touch them. Both covers feel as if they'd suffer very easily from mechanical wear and tear.
It seems to me HTC have multiple versions of the covers with slightly different shapes. My SIM cover has a small piece of plastic/gum glued onto it to level its height towards the SD card area. I suspect a dodgy manufacturing batch which they augmented rather than ditched for a new one.
I'm yet to see a perfect fit of the covers.

The covers fit perfectly. The problem is getting them in right. Once they're in they're perfect.
Sad times, it's not worth sending it into repairs is it - would superglue be sufficient?
Super glue can damage plastic and rubber, so your best to use industrial double sided tape or something else
is it rubber behind the button? of not then super glue could be ok, but if its rubber the glue will make it hard and affect how well the buttons work
omg how do you even manage to do that?
I am wondering the same thing
Sent from my R800i using XDA Premium App
Literally no idea, I'm really careful with my phones, always been in a padded case - just picked it up today and saw it detached on my desk
Yeah it's rubber, so no superglue? Double sided tape will add too much thickness will it not? + it sounds pretty fidley - is there an alternative type of glue I could use?
liquid nails will not melt plastics or rubber.
Nitrocellulose based nail polish clearcoat. Works wonders as an adhesive, and won't melt plastics.

just send it to repairs xD? I don't think root voids the hardware warranty ?
My volume button fell out too and i didnt notice so it was lost i emailed Sony but they said this prob would not be covered underwarrenty
Well it is starting to look like a fault in manufacturing process.. What models do you guys have.
Sent from my R800i using XDA Premium App
Thanks for the suggestion guys, will try the nail polish thing
The whole warrenty thing is a little dodgey for me as I bought mine off ebay, but it was originally purchased pay as you go from Vodafone (UK) if that helps with the model number?
If your volume button is still to hand, just push it back into the phone.
Mine came out after owning the phone for a few weeks, whilst was using blue-tack and cardboard to build a make-shift dock at my desk at work.
The blue-tack was great at keeping the phone still and in place, however one time the volume button was pressed right into the blue-tack and when lefting my phone from it the volume rocker came out.
Its not come out since and there didnt seem to be any sign of glue in the phone holding it down in the first place.
Mine fell off too, but I don't know where it went
Just putting it out there that my xperia play volume controls fell off too. I can't seem to find any place to get just the volume rocker.
Am I the only one that finds this hilarious...

Solution -
1) Buy some Marley Solvent Cement
Warning -
THIS IS TOXIC AND STRONG STUFF, DO NOT SNIFF (lol seriously dont), AND DO NOT GET IT IN ANY OTHER AREA ON YOUR PHONE BECAUSE IT DOES MELT PLASTIC.
2) Put a SMALL amount on the centre behind of the volume button.
3) Gently push back in place.
4) If some squeeze out the edges, QUICKLY use your fingernail to wipe the excess away.
The centre of the volume button will now be FUSED to the centre of the rocker. It will now NEVER fall off again. Seriously, DO NOT get this stuff on any other part of your phone because it will MELT the plastic. Do the job correctly and you will have a perfectly working volume button again with completely ZERO chance of it ever falling off.
Disclaimer - You have been warned about the potency of this stuff. Do not mess around with it unless you want your nose burned off your face or your phone melted into oblivion.
I do remember being warned that if you rub it up & down & up & down too much it will fall off
Hey guys, my volume rocker just fell out today, managed to find it and there is a little circle on the middle of it which most probably is where they put glue to stick it.
I try to fit it back in but through quick turning of the phone it falls out.
Would it be okay if I put just a TINY bit of superglue in the middle? It's gonna be touching the rubber which covers the internal volume buttons.

I wouldn't recommend superglue, one slip and you will ruin it.. try araldite plastic glue it would be better.. about 3.99gbp most places

I've got a problem with my shoulder buttons.
They have become very stiff and are hard to press down. They get stuck. Any ideas how I can get them a bit loose so I can press them down?
Thanks !

Was at a party last week and my mother-in-law to be managed to spill a glass of wine in the general direction of my phone. It didn't get soaked but a good few droplets made it onto the front. I turned it off and took it apart best I could to dry it out and it seemed to be working fine.
Now though I have noticed that the volume through the earpiece is greatly reduced - it used to be too loud on maximum phone volume but now I have trouble hearing people on the phone. Is this the sort of thing that could be caused by liquid damage or should I look to other causes? If it is, how expensive/possible is it to repair?

It could be that the contacts are dirty because of the dried up residue of the wine. Removing and inserting your headphone plug a couple of times (20 or so) might remove it. Worth a try before sending in for repair. If it is just replacing the headphone jacket then repair should not be too expensive. I assume you tested with another set of earpieces as well to make sure it is the phone ?

I mean earpiece as in the small speaker on the top of the phone, not handsfree.

I bought this phone exactly thirty days ago, and it has been a turbulent experience. A majority of my summer has had me using the remains of cellphones past as daily drivers, and it all started with an angry phone call.
Me and my girlfriend were having an argument whilst I was away on business. The call left me angry and frustrated and impeded my judgment, so much as to miss a step on the stairs to my hotel room. Now testament to the phones glass... It was unphased, but somewhere on the way back down the stairs, the aluminum was bent out of shape. Salt in the wound
I then spent the rest of my trip distracted and unable to follow up. Although my phone had an ottetbox commuter on, the soft corner where the power button lies was too bashed in to turn it on. For a few days I was solely able to accept calls, but after the battery died, I was unable to turn it on.
A few days later I decided I was going to give it the good old college try at rooting it and installing a sweep to wake kernel. Great plan, till I hit the brick wall of a soft brick.
I was so excited about my plan that I didn't realize when I went to flash a new Rom I didn't actually...press...flash,but proceeded to flash an aosp kernel.......
So till about two days ago I couldn't access recover or hboot, and having gone through an Xperia ion, HTC desire, aria, lumia 520 and an infuse, I thought I should try and send it in to repair.
HTC quoted 1200$....
For out of warranty repair that was Kinda riddiculous, so next place I looked? Ifixit and it's 1/10 rating.
I swore if eBay had parts someone had to know how to fix it.
So I decided to heat gun it and stab my guitar pick as deep into the bend from the fall down the stairs as I could.
And it creaked....
With fervor I ran upstairs in a daze and grabbed my heat gun and soon I could smell melting plastic. A few clicks later I had the entire motherboard bent at a 10 degree angle... Enough to find that there are clip points on the frame.
I pulled the back apart and disconnected as many cables as I could see without taking the phone completely apart. I learned I had broken my ribbon cable from the power button in the original incident.
But I got it to boot. I let the battery drain then leaned on the volume down button. The screen flickered to light, and I installed venom Rom.
I am now just waiting for a new frame, power button assembly and top speaker grille, but I would honestly say that I doubt I would give this phone a 1/10 repairability. The plastic siding is anything but mangled....except fir where it got dented of course, that parts effed. If you want close up shots or the case mount points I can find time after my next business trip to grab em... But I have my phone again... So I'm probably not gonna flashoholic till I get my power button in. Till then xda... It's not that hard to tear down

If you take photos and do a write up step by step you could be the first "Tear down" report that we have on XDZ!
$1200 quote to fix a $600 phone?
seems like a lot of work. I would have just bought another lol
I woulda bought another if I wasn't 3000 in the hole this month... Bills decided to come out all at once.. and once the glue is off...it's ...reddiculously less difficult. I don't think the tear down would be fair and replacing the home button doesn't need a full teardown.
Also, wasn't much work in the end, it's just stick a guitar pick in and flex it in reverse.

Im probably going to do a case removal when the parts get here

Long story short... My little brother spilled a cup of milk on my phone. ?*
At first, both of my speakers seemed to work, just little distortion from being wet, nothing major. I left the phone upside down after drying it off. Come the next day, the top speaker stopped working, but the bottom one works fine. I can't hear anyone unless I put them on speaker, so I checked with Google and my device is well out of warranty, since I pretty much ordered it around day 1.
I haven't yet to contact Huawei, I probably should, but I've went on and ordered this piece here...
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/401176645698
Bottom line... Does anyone have any experience with the teardown of a 6P and know if it will fix the issue, or should I not be stubborn and contact Huawei? ?
Thanks
It will almost certainly fix the issue but the speaker from this seller isn't great quality. My top speaker had distortion after a spill and I ordered a replacement from the same ebay seller. I ended up carefully cleaning up my original speaker with a q-tip and cleaned up the grill while it was apart. Your speaker may need replaced though since it's not working at all. Or maybe the connections to the motherboard are just dirty. Have some thermal compound on hand the replace the old stuff when you remove the motherboard. And test it out before you put the back cover back on.
Don't understand completely, but even looking at the motherboard, I couldn't tell if there was something wrong.
I've replaced the speaker, but the sound coming from the top is super dim. I can't think of what the problem may be whatsoever. [emoji21]
Might take another look, but taking this this was a nightmare(pretty much the first part). Using guitar picks and whatnot just didn't work, but an X-Acto knife worked no problem.
