HELP! Android market app not compatible - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Using : [01/feb/2012] Rom SENSATION XL V 3.0 stock ALL IN ONE (marc v0.1.8 ker)
I installed this rom, and the market updated to google play.
Device identified as HTC X315e
However this app, can not be installed as it is incompatible. It is definetely able to play using [20.Feb.2012] NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.3-CM9 V1.4 and also able to download the app. However it is not with sense.
Really want to install this game, any way to solve this problem? I have tried editing build.prop with no luck...
By the way, the android market is now changed to google play.

you should change your dpi to 240 or 160! there are apps on the market, thats the easiest way (dpi changer?) or just change it in your build.prop
----
Sorry didn't see that you alread tried this. That is the only thing that worked for me. there is a hacked market somewhere around XDA but for me it doesn't work anymore since google play immediatly updates it.
good luck though

Try to clear Market cache and redownload.
Or in terminal use marketclean.sh (i don't know if it does more than regular cache clear by app manager).
Are you sure that device you changed ID to is compatible?

Have you checked the app on https://play.google.com/store ; as you device is incompatible at the moment and would be greyed out but hovering over it may give more detail i.e. Not available in device's country. Which may be remedied by market enabler.
And FYI, the country/region may be static and built into the rom not based on actual location. which would explain why it works on some roms and not others

I'll try the 160 density and see how it works out.

According to the google play supported models HTC X315e aka HTC sensation xl should be compatible, but im not sure if the other data is correct.

I dont think it is due to the country, it says that the device is not compatible.
The build.prop file shows as wwe_htc.

Tried it and it just made the rom look so small, the app is still not able to download

Well sorry, thats what worked for me. botch on 240 and 160. I'll try to find the game and see what it tells me.

I had the same problem a while ago. You have to change the Device ID and more to make your android build compatible with market

Can't get some apps to show in market

Hey,
I'm running the cognition 2.3.4 rom and i have the newest market. One issue i have is i can't see some of the apps i have purchased in the market (Marine US east for example). I also can't find apps like onstar my link.
I've tried the market enablers to no avail.
Any tips would be great.
Thanks
Return to the older market version and use Market Enabler. I had the same problem with the new Market and solved it this way.
Backup build.prop
Open build.prop and change every line from 2.3.4 to 2.3.3 and XXKG1 to XWKE7. Save and reboot. Install desired appas then just restore build.prop
Unfortunately this looks like Google have tightened up on the region restrictions. I can no longer buy apps at all with the new market, or via the market.android.com.
From what I can tell, google is checking the country that your payment method is registered too, as opposed to the region that your phone is set to with MarketEnabler
I can still buy on my tab with the old market, anyone know if there is a way to block the update to the new market when Google decides to role it out?
I'm running 2.3.4 cognition rom and I could not even see Visidon applock that I read about on this forum, on 2.33 I could....very strange...fortunaly I found the apk here on the forum
Any fix for this so I can download everything?
I had the same problem with call recorder. I contacted killer mobiles who said it was a market problem. Market replied that the app had copy- protection thing on it. I contacted killer mobs again and they wanted my ime number and market purchase number to activate my app as bought. My app, before, did not show up as bought and I had to search for it and was shown as a trial. Perhaps you could ask the app makers is this the problem. This was with the old market. Also, the new market is in my opinion, bloatware; full of photos and such. I've gone over to 1mobile market which I find good. I did try to replace the new market with the old vending.apk but it kept changing back on a reboot.

So i still could use some help with this problem
It seems no matter what rom (2.3.3 or 2.3.4) i can't get the Marine: US East app to show up. This also doesn't depend on the markt i'm using. I Just turned on my atrix, installed 2.3.4 on it and the market auto updated and sure enough the app showed up in the list.
Now i think this might be a location issue. I'm on AT&T here in the states, but i feel like maybe the phone thinks that i'm in europe or something(if that's possible).
If anyone has any tips i would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks

Even on stock on the stock rom i didn't even see the apps.
I just edited the build prop changing everything i could think that would mess with the market and i still can't get some things to show up
Well i thought i'd keep people updated on this cause it was driving me crazy.
I couldn't get Marine: US East to show up, so i emailed them. One of their suggestions was my market was blocking copy protected apps. So i googled that and found that google needs to update their fingerprint data base to allow specific phone firmwares to access it.
one way to tell if your phone can see copy protected apps is to search for "Topmarkettest" and if you see the copy protection app then that means you can see copy protected apps.
I solved this (as mentioned in an earlier post but apparently i'm a block of cheese) by just changing the fingerprint in the buildprop file.

Market compatibility issue after MIUI?

I get this everytime i try to download a simple app for example: Google Books.
This app is incompatible with your T-Mobile Samsung T959.
T-Mobile Samsung T959
This item is not compatible with your device.
This has happened AFTER flashing miui...
is anyone else facing this without miui or with miui?
bonus question:
where are the books in google books stored in sd card? im trying to make my personal ebook but i want to just try it with google books, how can i do that?
Bump please help
I'm assuming you did the standard clear market data and wipe cache. That's all I got. Maybe a build prop issue?

yep i'm so pissed off right now. Anyways, i'm going back to the stock version of miui, maybe its because i've been using it for a long time?
edit: doing that fixed it. thanks for the help.
I was trying to help someone with this same exact problem. No solution was found. He even made sure the device fingerprint was okay. What finally worked was installing a different ROM
any Ideas how to fix this market problem?
Hmmmm. it seems that my problems with Android Market was due to the DPI change which I made - the display density.
I changed my HTC Desire back from 200 dpi to the default value if 200 dpi, after that I cleared Android Market data and cache and restarted the phone.
After that on Android Market the problem with the "This item is not compatible with your device" error on some applications was fixed.
P.S. For changeing the display density you can use one of this apps from the Market: LCD Density or LCD Density Changer
Thanks this fixed my i9000.
But WTH causes this. I don't see how changing the dpi could break market, unless app's are searching for a specific dpi range?

market organizes the apps and checks if their compatible with your device, if your device has some random ass density, then the market notices that and tries to find all apps that fit that screen size, and the apps then do not show up because the apps are made for certain, and regulated displays, which doesn't include a dpi like 642 or something

Can not install Google Earth on Cyanogenmod 7.1

Everytime i try to install Google earth on my Nexus S through the Market i get "Device not supported". I search on google and in this forum and can not find a answer. Please help me!

i fixed it for me

I fixed for me installing through webbrowser: hxxps://market.android.com/details?id=com.google.earth&feature=search_result
But why i can not use market-application to install. Thats bad...
I'm having the exact same problem - no idea why.
Try this,
Go to manage applications, click on market and clear data, Now install the apps again.
Might work.
I tried to extract the Google Earth apk from the stock ROM and installed it. It installed, however it keeps force closing when i launch it. So i guess it's incompatible with CyanogenMod 7.1
Installs and works just fine on cm 7.1.0.1, but I also have matrix 8.5 kernel on top of cm

When I was on CM7.1, I didn't have any difficulties to install from local Market or Web Market.
Furthermore Google Earth has a lot of downloads, then it would say if there was a kind of bug we would be informed one or two days later and not one week.
Did you already try to clear/ wype Cache?

THX for this solution!
I found the solution to my issue regarding this as well. Apparently, if you change the device density, it will say device not compatible. I like running mine at 200 instead of default 240. So when I changed it back to 240, I was able to install/update all the apps.
Heeeeelllpp!!!
I convinced my girl to root her phone so i could "make it pretty" for her and well, part of my theming included changing the density down to 200. I used blade buddy to do it at first and it worked fine, except for the "device is not compatible" play store message. So i changed the density back to 240 again with blade buddy and it still gives me the incompatible message, even after wiping data from play store and rebooting with the default density! So i tried market enabler and that worked ONE time, now no matter what i do its not updating most of her apps and market enabler does nothing to help. Any suggestions, other than the obvious nandroid?

Android Market Error Message - "Your Device Is Not Compatible"

I've been struggling with this issue today, and just found the "solution" so I wanted to post it here in case anyone else has this problem.
Cause:
No Apps in the Market were updating, including stock Google Apps (including Google Maps!)
Every App - Including Ones that were installed on my phone would get a "your device is not compatible" error message.
Solution:
Change the Density size back to stock 240. Clear the data of the Android Market, and then everything should be running again.
Final Comments:
This was driving me nuts because I've had my density size at 260 since day one with my Atrix, and now this has become an issue "when it was never an issue before". Anywhoo... I updated all my apps, and then changed my Density back to 260 because I hate small icons/fonts.
Like I said this is a new issue that's never happened to me before, and possibly other Atrix owners may have the same issue, so hopefully this writeup may help somebody else out...
I think I remember encountering this issue before and got frustrated and just started everything over. Ill keep this in mind for future reference though, thanks!

It's been driving me nuts trying to figure out why that message was appearing.

NP... Believe me I've tried EVERY solution that I could think of over the past 2 weeks on and off. When I finally figured it out and got things working, I dropped everything that I had going on and wrote that up.
Knowing that it helped at least one person made it all worth while...

A similar issue happened to me. A month ago i bought SimCity Deluxe, then i change my Rom and the Android Market said to me that this game was not compatible with my phone. The problem is that now it is not compatible with every Rom I flash, stock also.
density should be @240 not 260

having this issue with Block Breaker 3. just wondering if anyone knows how to alter build.prop for Atrix 4G to work around this annoying issue.
EDIT: solved.
edit build.prop (I used Rom Toolbox Pro), change the following (and ONLY the following):
ro.product.model=Nexus S
ro.product.brand=Samsung
however. once I got my game(s) working, I realized WHY my device isn't compatible: the display size (resolution) is too big. d'oh!

While 240 is a standard density, the Atrix screen is actually 275ppi. The moar you know.
thank you for the solution, i run into this exact issue time to time when i switch to a different ROM. I had this recently on the new Neutrino ROM with Instagram, but if i logged into google play through the web on pc, i could install Instagram with no issues. Only on the phone in the google play store it would tell me my device isn't compatible but it would still install if i did it through the google play website.
This is actually an issue that HP Touchpad users have been trying to figure out. Basically, the Android Market only likes specific DPIs to make things easier on app developers. So if its not 120, 160, 240 or 320 things break. IMO its stupid since good coding practices should allow an app to cleanly scale, but Google apparently feels otherwise.
It is possible to patch the market to work on other densities, but I've had no luck finding a patched version of the most current market.
I had hoped this was my problem, but alas didn't work. This worked for Navigon update, but for google maps it says my device isn't compatible, which of course it is. It actually doesn't even see that I've got Maps installed anymore.

I had that issue happen to me when I updated to 3.5.15. What I ended having to do was first uninstall all market updates. Then I replace vending.apk in the system/app directory with an older version and set the permissions to rwer--r-- (normally it would be rw-r--r--, but it wouldn't work for me). After that reboot the phone. Then go back to the vending.apk you placed in the system/app directory and change the permissions back to the way they were before you changed them. Next you should be able to launch the market and it should update to the play store after a few minutes. All my google apps were recognized again.
Fix
1. Go into Settings, Apps, All
2. Find Google Play - Clear Data
3. Find Google Services Framework - Clear Data
Should be OK now
If not, Install Market Enabler, redo above - then fake USA market once and should be OK.

I'd guess since you don't know what DPI is, we can be pretty safe that you haven't changed it. However, you can change it by going to /system/build.prop with a root enabled file explorer and navigate to where it says LCD density and change it to 240. I think there are also some apps on the market which allow you to do this anyway, I know that ROM Toolbox has a build.prop editor built in. I've just logged into the market with my account and it says the app is compatible with my 'O2 HTC NexusHD2' and my Desire S.
Thanks for helping out, but my build.prop already says:
ro.sf.lcd_density=240
Google play store recognises the device as Vodafone HTC HD2; I tried Angry Birds and that was compatible.
Any further tips?
Sometimes when it says "not compatible", i download the apk on the web and it works (for free games as megajump (for example), the apk installs and the game works)
Did you try using market enabler?
You can also try going into Setting > applications > manage applications > all and clear the market data
EDIT: says its compatible with both my ancient Touch Pro 2 and HD2. So im sure a market wipe will work.
