[Q] About warranty??? - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After rooting android the warranty is stable or what???
Sent from my MB525 using xda premium

Rooting voids the warranty. Just make sure that you can un-root first, or accept the risk...
Note: just because the warranty is void, that doesn't mean that Motorola won't repair the phone if you break it. However, any repair not covered by the warranty will be chargeable. And remember that the warranty only covers defects, not accidental damage.

Even though the rooting voids the warranty .. you can revert back to the base rom..only thing that u need to do is .. check weather the Fixed SBF for Ur region (India in Ur case) is available for download or not .. if yes... then after rooting and installing Clockworkmod take a complete system back up of ur present stock ROM...then go on with either CM7 or CM9 ..
Now when u want to come back to stock ..just flash the SBF of ur region and do a nandroid restore of ur backup ..unroot ..Finish ..u r back on stock again

How can I do it about SBF...I don't know can you plz tell me...I am from India!!!

If you are from India, believe me...there's no need to worry about defy's warranty, i'm from India too
Enjoy

[SGS+] Blue/Red stripes on screen?

Why do I have stripes on my screen, when there's anything red or blue on screen? I mean that every red or blue color have stripes. Brightness does not have an effect. I'll upload images if necessary

Try factory reset *2767*3855# ( it deletes all your data) if that doesn't work flash a stock rom and bring your phone in for repairs

I tried factory reset from settings, is it the same thing? Anyway it didn't help. I barely rooted, so I probably won't do rom stuff. Should I return my phone?
Edit: I remembered that I updated from 2.3.3 to 2.3.5. Did you mean that?

Yes factory reset from settings is the same. Your post was ambiguous so i'll just say what you have to do. Flash a stock rom ie xxxkqB etc or if you are NOT rooted you can skip this step. Then bring your phone in for repairs.
I had a dead zone on my screen, but already rooted so my warrenty was void so I just flashed a stock rom and brought it in for repairs. They did not charge me and replaced my whole screen. Hope this helps.

Does unrooting get warranty back?
Sent from my awesome SGS+
Yes , but its safer to flash a stock rom. If you worried about your data just back it up with Titanium back up.

to get a warranty repair, do you need to unroot (Belgium)

Hi all,
a question for everyone who knows about the repair policy of HTC in Belgium (or if they have a european/worldwide warranty policy, also good)
if I send in my device, does it have to be unrooted or am I clear to send my device in after making a backup?
Thanks
V
It's always better that you unroot before you go for warranty. Nipqer has a guide for it.

download pre-rooted stock rom from djembey here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250824
install triangle away, reset counter. then you'll have official stock rom with basic root access, flash count 0 and status official.
best choice i guess :fingers-crossed:

Hey, did you send it back or not? I rooted mine to check the flash counter and triggered knox security. The are now refusing to honour their warranty despite the actual fault being a physical fault with the screen (it is peeling away from the phone body).
I will keep pushing them until they fix it as the fault is totally unrelated to the phone software and they are breaking the law by refusing to fix it however I will be selling the phone and boycotting them until they drastically improve their customer service
Read this, then tell them

Is my warranty void now

Hello everyone,
I have not rooted my s4 fone yet, I was flashing stock rom using odin.
I dont know what was going in my mind I selected "phone" instead of "PDA".
When fone was not booting up, I put the fone again in download mode. In download mode I saw it is showing status "custom".
I flashed the rom again, this time correctly, now it is showin status official.
Is my wareant is void now?

The fact it now states official, and that the binary counter hasn't been tripped due to all being stocks means your warranty is still safe. Just don't root the phone if you wish tokeep your warranty intact. Unless yyou plan to reflash a stock ROM after it?

Thanks for clearing my doubts guys..

[Q] How To: Go Back To Complete Stock For Warranty?

Hi,
May you suggest ways on how to return to complete stock or for warranty purposes? [emoji1]
Thank you for your time!

The most we can do is to do a super wipe and flash a stock rom with Odin, it will flash the stock recovery too, but KNOX will always stay at 0x1 until a genius dev(geohot ?) finds how to reset it, so if it's a Samsung Store they will not take it to repair.

Unless you live in Europe, Samsung and all the other OEMS are required to repair the rooted device under warranty unless they can prove with facts that rooting is the cause of the faillure EU law.
