Today i got the Play Shop update to my note. Looks like google replaced the Android Market with the Play Shop.
yes,
may be music, book, video update won't available in india, but you can update manually here is detail
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1534703
Yes but...
They haven't fixed the after 20 pages of apps in My Library bug.
(It goes back to the beginning). In my case, it gets to the letter 'I' before it goes back to 'A'. Thus, I have no visibility to any apps I have installed (and blown away with frequent ROMs) in the past or on other devices.
Furthermore, I can no longer see my order history or my devices.
The order history was bugged anyways as I wasn't even able to see all the Apps I had purchased.
You would think that a company like Google wouldn't have so many outstanding bugs that deal with downloaded/purchased products for such a long time...

Pointless, unimaginative rebranding. I expected more from them.

As a user, it looks kind of pointless until you realize that the name Google is now prominent. I bet you many people did not necessarily think of Google when they visited the old Android Market.

Yay for my local Verizon dealer, who made good on his promise and sold me 2 Xooms today.
Initial impressions are very good... but with only 7 apps in the Android Market for tablets, the community clearly has a long way to go.
Here's your fun fact so far: there's an LED near the Verizon logo that blinks when you get a notification.
Now, if you wouldnt mind... could you not play with it at all for the next 12 hours and just have it run a video loop while connected to 3g and wifi to guage the battery?
Come on, think of the service that you'll be providing. We'd totally owe you one.
Are you able to download normal apps not made for tablets?
Or are you limited to only applications for tablets in the Market?

For now, you can sideload apps via the browser, but you need to go to Settings > Applications and check off Unknown sources.
For whatever reason, I can see some, but not all the Market apps. Compatibility flag maybe? Went looking for Beejive and it didn't show up. Might need to be updated to use the Honeycomb APIs?
I notice the apple bluetooth keyboard... does that work with it?
I only ask because I have one and sometimes I know apple products can be sort of a b#$^@ when it comes to connecting to off-apple brand items.

I was getting contracts for both, so I didn't ask.
Note: neither of my devices are currently activated -- Verizon's systems apparently won't activate any Xooms just yet, so mine will be turned on tomorrow morning. For now it's Wi-Fi, and there was no problem getting it to work without the activation.
It hasn't been released yet, maybe Google has some tweaking to do in their systems overnight before apps show up. 7 apps doesn't sound right..

Just tried it. Pairs and works fine. When you pair, it discovers the keyboard, and asks you to type a 4 digit code + enter on the Apple keyboard. Then all systems go.

If you go to the new Android Market on PC, you can find a NYTimes Android Application for Tablets. Can you possibly have that downloaded to your Xoom and give it a try?
Here is a link:

+4 on the battery requests
Alee!
Open up the Xoom and tell us what mAh battery size is inside that sucker? We need to put something to rest.. claim is that it's 3250mAh.. we're hoping this is a mistake and it's actually much larger.
Anyone know how to get to the battery? I see 2 screws at the bottom, but I can't mess with those right now as I'm syncing over a ton of stuff to the tablet.

Yeah I saw somewhere, cannot remember where, but you have to remove some screws.
Surprised that Engadget or another site hasn't tore the Xoom apart to see all the bits and pieces and see what everything is already.
Sort of odd. Then again those no real reviews from sites either... just a wirefly guy unboxing it and talking too much about things he seems to know little about.
Question; How much did you spend out of the door total ($960-$970)?
All the major sites have posted their reviews and all concur that battery life is awesome. So who cares about the size as long as you get the life?
Its all about the power consumption and not about the battery size

$800 each + tax. So I didn't get the Verizon price for contract but totally worth it to get it a day early.
Bit of a newb post for me this one and I know you people probably expect better of me xD.. but what the hell..
FIRSTLY - Yes I know this thread is posted on other phones! However it's not on the Desire so some people may not know ^_^
If you haven't already noticed (it's hard not to!) the Android Market is celebrating it's 10 BILLION downloads, by offering us 10 popular apps each day, for just 10p/10cents (whatever your currency is)
There are 10 new apps each day, and if you have a problem with downloading them just check out this, and you can download them from your PC to your phone!
Might want to highlight the link a bit more
Too bad it's not possible to buy an app for future use.

i think apps are linked to google account? and you can redownload when you change device if you use your same account..
I got swiftkeyx because I figured it would come in handy one day though I prefer to use swype myself. I actually kind of hoped I could use it on a tablet when I get one then I noticed there is a different tablet version
Spent already $ 0.40 LOL
Oh... i want to buy these apps but i've got no credit card here -_-
Dunno what happened or how this works exactly, but last night i had swiftkey and endomondo for $0.10, and now they are regular price. As I remember, they were not listed on the promotion link in the market on my device, nor on the android market website. Now it's the same thing with awd launcher ex, it's not listed but it's $0.10. Anyone has a clue how this work? Do we know the exact list of apps that are available for $0.10?
they only do 10 apps per day, then the previous day's apps go back to regular price I think..

Indeed they only stay 10 cents for 24 hours then it goes to 10 new apps.
My guess is google wears the cost and still pays the dev the normal money they would get

It's 10 different apps every day, so the apps that cost 10p today will go back to normal price tomorrow, and so on and so forth. The website link I sent lists all of the available apps for that day, and I'm pretty sure the new market also has a category from the "main menu" type thing where it displays all the 10p apps.
Yay. Big link for me
I already bought 10 apps.
The reason I was moping was that I can't buy asphalt, because the desire I have isn't supported, so I can't even buy it.
So its not possible to buy for a future tablet, if your current device doesn't support it in the first place.

Hi if you have access to another android device bit more powerful than desire then u can add ur google account on that if its got gb running and download it to that device. For example i also wanted asphalt 6 for my next device so i added my google account to sisters nexus s and bought it on there.
This has been reported in other threads but no here.
Beginning Tuesday, the Android Market will be known as the Google Play Store. Google's eBookstore and recently launched music service will also be part of the Google Play Store. The same selection of books, music and movies had already been available on Android Market. Sounds nice, but whats behind the shiny chrome?
any way of forcing the update? Tried the old clearing data/cache/fc-ing, reboot ....but to no avail. am I to assume we must wait for it to roll out?

This post is not really a cry for help. Just throwing this out here. I've been having problems with this error message ([RPC:S-5:AEC-0]) that I'm getting from the playstore for about almost a week now. I first experienced this after I saw quite a few update notifications on my phone. When I tapped on the update button, none of the apps updated and I got this error message instead, So I googled information on how I can fix it and found out the following
1. Clear data and/or cache on the following
- Downloads
- Google Play Store
- Google Service Framework
2. Remove and re-add google account from device
3. Factory reset
None of the methods above worked for me. I even tried accessing my paid apps from my pc by going to https://play.google.com/. Unfortunately, I also got an error message when I clicked on the "My Android Apps" link. Take note that I tried doing all these with different ISPs so issue is definitely not with my internet connection as well.
I've already contacted the google play support group and I was told that this issue has been going on and unresolved since October of 2012. The google techs are stummped and don't have the slightest idea of what's causing the problem. They can't even give me a time frame of when this will be resolved. They asked me to send bug reports from my devices which I did although I know for a fact that this problem is not being caused by any of my devices.
I'm pretty much stuck with a useless smart phone and tablet since I did a factory reset on both and I'm unable to redownload all of my apps including the ones that I have purchased...
I attached a few screenshots from my N7000 and Nexus 7 and my PC as well showing the errors.
This is how google wants to solve my issue... BY RIPPING ME OFF!!!

Nope. It's a known issue that has blown up over the last few weeks.

A thread started on Google Plus today about it as well. Happening across all devices and ROMs to a significant number of users.

Just talked to one of the google techs again today. This is really getting out of hand crazy! They have sent me numerous emails asking me to do the same thing over and over. It's like they don't even check on previous documentation that I have responded to telling them that none of the trouble shooting they told me to do worked. To top it all off, we started discussing about refunds. I was told that thier policy is they can only do the last 6 months. I have so many paid applications that I have accumulated for the last year and a half! A lot of the ones I use the most have been purchased more than 6 months ago, Then she tells me that I'd have to talk to the individual 3rd party developers and ask them for a refund. I mean, why would a developer refund me if it's not even thier fault that this issue is happening. This is all google!

In the same boat across multiple devices and very frustrated. Hopefully this is becoming a very widespread issue and will get more attention with Google's higher level techs and developers.
I was having this issue, and all the normal steps didn't help. I called Google, they were no help, other than to say it was a known issue. I tried removing my Google account, and clearing the cache/data for Google Service Framework and Play Store apps - nothing worked
Then I tried clearing the cache/data on Google Play Services, on the off chance that this might be the culprit and after a reboot everything is working great again.
Hope this will help some of the other folks who are struggling with this.
Exact Steps:
1) Open Settings->Apps
2) Select Google Play Store
3) Clear Cache and Force Stop
4) Select Google Framework Services
5) Clear Data and Force Stop
6) Select Google Play Services
7) Clear Data and Force Stop
8) Reboot
Why are you ****ting On Us Google?
On another forum, a poster had this to say about this RPC:S-5:AEC-0 problem:
I don't believe this has anything to do with what is running on the device...whether its 4.2.2 or 4.1.2. It's simply an issue with corruption in the Google Play account on Google's servers. The lack of any fix for this or a workaround is abysmal on Google's part. I have paid apps that will no longer run because Google Play no longer recognizes them as paid apps. I have wasted numerous hours trying to get this resolved with escalated calls to Google support. Basically, anyone who is affected by this account "corruption" issue is currently screwed with no fix in sight. This needs to get major media attention or possible class action status before Google gets serious and fixes this acknowledged issue they've known about for several months now.
That is a good summary of the issue.
Google knows all about this.
It's endemic and the worst part about it is that Google is ignoring it.
There has been one simple post by Google -- in March -- saying they were working on the problem, and then a one-line addendum in April to say that they were still working on the problem.
THIS IS NOT ONLY ABSURD, BUT UNACCEPTABLE.
I've tried every effing solution that's been posted -- and none works.
I'm sick to the back teeth about the crap that GOOGLE thinks I can take. I'm just steaming mad.
The sheer inconvenience and time-wasting is mind numbing.
Am I pissed off at Google. You betcha.
Do I scream at Google, What do you think!
How can Google sit back and do nothing about this for months. (And don't point me to the lame suggestions of a work around like: Clear the cache in the Play Store app; clear the data in the Google Services framework; delete and reinstall the offending account .... etc etc etc. I've tried every one and more. Even tried deleting the whole OS and reinstalling,; tried factory reset.
THIS IS CRAP AND GOOGLE KNOWS IT.
Setting up a new gmail account is not practicable as the Google user base has a huge investment in their Play Store account by way of the money they've paid to Google for apps which Google is fraudulently now stopping them from using.
The problem appears to be tied to the link between the kernel and the play store account. If a user starts a whole new account, then there is no problem for that new account. However, for Android's database of users, this is not a practicable solution as that base of users has an investment in their Play Store account -- not the least of which is in the value of the apps that they have paid for to date.
MY QUESTION IS: WHY ARE YOU ****TING ON US - YOUR LOYAL USERS - GOOGLE?
Another question: How do we escalate this into main stream media so that Google has to get off their fat arse and fix the proble? Any ideas would be helpful.
Looks like google finally fixed the issue. My apps finally started updating today with no errors.

This is NOT a time to pat Google on the back
Last night, shortly after posting my rant on this forum, I went to the app store to see if I could get some sense out of the bloody thing. Lo and Behold! It was all go!!!!
Now while I like to think -- in my hedonostoc idle moments -- that it was my posting on this forum that did the trick, reality tells me that Google had been working on this for some time and that the fix was in place coincidentally at approximately 10pm NZ time yesterday (12th June 2013).
Why am I being so pedantic about the time.
Simple.
Google, quite clearly, must have been working on this for some time in order for the fix to be put in place at that precise moment. The problem with this conduct though, is that they did NOT at any time inform its constituency that it had even acknowledged that there was this effing problem in the first place. A lot of good people have been mystified, frustrated, angry, confused and suspicious by this smorgasbord of crap that Google has dished up and even felt that they had no option but to eat the **** sandwich presented to them.
SO, if Google thinks that this lowly serf is going to thank them for getting rid of the RPC:S-5:AEC-0 bug, then they need to take their heads out of the arses and smell the real world, 'cos it aint going to happen.
At the very least I would expect Google to make some gesture to its user base to placate them after the harrowing ordeal that their incompetence has put them through.
Enough said.
Unless or until this rears its ugly head again.

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I don't quite understand how users are supposed to receive the new Google Play Services update with the Android Device Manager built in to it.
AndroidPolice said it would be a slow rollout over the Play Store, but it's not even a listed app there, so that makes no sense to me. They had some apk downloads, but they advised against downloading them, since there are different versions for differently sized devices.
So how do we receive this update? Is it only via an updated ROM/OTA/manual download? Seems like if that's the case, then the whole notion of pushing it to the public with older 2.2 devices is a pipedream.
I feel like that plus updates to the Google Play Store are not handled very well. Everything is a just a paper release, and the vast majority of the Android population never sees any of it.
It appears to be more of a silent update. I didn't get a notification when mine was updated.
It will be listed in settings -> more -> security -> device administration

Mine shows up as well... not sure if it was there before or not but I just recently got the updated pushed to my device so that might have done the trick. Either way I've gone in and checked it off.
Now it's just a wait and see game...

Have it one mine but I didn't get a notification so I'm guessing it's a silent roll out. The only thing is ADM Web page can't seem to locate where my phone is. I don't need it right now it would just be nice to know it's working.
