Thinking about finally switching from Stock to a custom ROM and was thinking about ICS. While I would like to have HW Accel, I may be able to live without. What I am looking for is Kindle APP, games, web browsing, playing videos, etc. What are everyone's thoughts on which ICS ROM is best and most stable. Speed and stability are both my primary concerns with ICS. Thanks.

This one is the one most other ICS roms for the Fire are based on. And as such, they all share the same bugs and quirks.
What kinds of games are you going to play? Can you live without HD content including no hd in YouTube? I do alot of YouTube so HD is something I need.

Can someone direct me to an apk for a Netflix app that works on a my touch 4g please?
Unfortunately I dont think there is one working for the stock ROM. However, many custom ROMS (Including recent cyanogenmod 7 nightlies) have it working. in that case, just head on over to....

Oh.. Its my girlfriends mytouch 4g. I was hoping theres one that she can use to work Netflix. Thanks for the help of though, but her phone isnt rooted and im sure she wont let me do it lol.
Unfortunately there is not a way to get netflix without rooting
How about now that netflix works for other devices?... Can one get it to work on an unrooted mt4g?

Netflix codes the .apk to only work on certain devices. The only reason it works on 3rd party ROMS is the developers have tweeked the rom and tricked the .apk into thinking it's one of those supported devices.
I'm running a stock rom. It is rooted. I have Netflix 1.3 installed.
Works flawlessly. See here...

Hi developers...I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right section, and forgive me if I am...as you know the kindle Fire system dump has been out... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295928&page=3 . It has been ported to the Samsung galaxy tablet ... http://gigaom.com/mobile/so-i-turned-my-galaxy-tab-into-a-kindle-fire/ ... I was wondering if this can be done on our nook colors ...If a developer can do this...it would be awesome...I would try if I knew how to.. thank you in advance..and once again I'm sorry if I posted in the wrong section

Not really a big job considering its based on the AOSP source. In all reality its just porting the main launcher onto the code. You can use all the proprietaries from cm.

why not, just cause you dont want to have it doesnt mean others will, its all about choices when it comes to android and the more choices we have the better our experience will be
I'd do it...if only to show the flexibility of the NC. Still have no interest in actually BUYING a Kindle Fire though. Still enjoying CM7
I'm gonna try and port it through android kitchen (no guarantees though), this sounds like a great idea to me. Someone with more experience dev'ing should try it as well.
Any luck guys...the launcher on cm7 force closes for me

A bit off topic, but If your launcher is FCing, try launcher pro instead. It works for me on CM7 sd install, and rooted stock.
You could also try an older cm7 install.
As for the fire, I would play with it out of curiosity, but I like the rooted stock for everyday use.

I see, sorry. I was wondering how that would work.
Not knowing much about the system, would you need it to sync to the cloud? If yes, authentication could be a serious issue.
Does it allow non market installs, and can it go to the market?
I am not sure I would be interested if it cannot do these two things. If it could, it may be amusing, but it would have to be silky smooth for me to consider it a prime OS. Since the hardware is significantly slower on the nook, I am betting it is a no go, but that is just conjecture.

The work done actually looks like a port of the apks. The fires UI runs on top of the galaxies UI so CPU and all that doesn't matter. It's just implementing the framework that's the problem.

Been using ics-deck-evo-alpha5 for a little more then a week now and loving it. Also watching jaredthegreats thread (JTG-ICS-4.0.3-B2.0.zip) and curious if anyone knows what may be different? From what I found deck's is still alpha but JTG's is beta 2?
I prefer Decks. Trebuchet is the biggest handcuff as it throws errors constantly. Your options are Nova Launcher or Go Launcher. Both support ICS. I LOVE LOVE LOVE GoLauncher EX.
Agreed I also LOVE LOVE LOVE GoLauncher EX
anyway to just use the stock launcher with Deck? I remember it was included with one of the pre alphas and it worked great. (I don't mind not having the customizations so stock is fine with me)

Not as easy on further developed roms, the stock launcher crashes a lot. So stock launcher will prob be available once the roms are more complete

Try the car-o-dope tweaks and report back if it stops some of the FC's. I know it's helped me out in the past with beta roms.

gonna quote myself here and admit the launcher was the problem on JTG. too damn slow. Once i switched to Go Ex, the rom became super snappy!
How does PreludeDrews compare to these?
I'm on Drew's and it works great for me. I've tried all three and for some reason Drew's has the fewest problems on my phone. I think you need to flash all three and see which one works best on your phone.

Since I'm a Sense fan, I go with Virtuous Affinity 3.11.0 Alpha 1. It's really smooth, but can be laggy at times. But then remember it's an alpha. But blackwing's ROM has a working camera, so that's a plus 100000. So for me, Virtuous Affinity 3.11.0 Alpha 1 or blackwing's AOKP.

My opinion, they are all buggy and need much improvement before it's a daily driver for me.
Don't get me wrong all of our developers do an AWESOME job, but there is only so much one can do with limited supplies. And until relative phone has ICS on it, we're going to be stuck with buggy ROMs.

I know that Dibblebill has tried Paranoid Android. He and everyone else who has done testing has found PA to be really slow. Both in FPS for games and I found it to have much more input lag than other ROMs.

I've heard this too (but haven't tested PA myself). If anything, I'd consider PA good on looks, not so good on performance (but not terrible either). I personally would rather have something that performs great, with customization as a second priority. Rasbeanjelly works great in this regard Take the performance even further, and then you have RasSaber (updated at a slower pace compared to rbj though). The Black/Blue theme going on looks pretty nice as well (to me anyway).
