How can I enable WIFI hotspot on GingerDX? I run version 022. I tried to enable it using the quicksettings app, but that gives an error.

With Barnacle, unfortunately, you can do only adhoc connetions and not wifi hotspot...
Thanks. I already knew about barnacle. But I read on the android changelog that wifi hotspot was included in android 2.2.
yeah, but in GingerDX only USB tether is available.
However, my collegue have Samsung S2 with Cyanogen 7.2 and je have WiFi tether perfectly working how adhoc and actual hotspot point for devices not adhoc ready.

I have a Samsung vibrant with andriod 2.1 that i have rooted. I used to use barnacle to tether it to my laptop. Now, i know that asus can't connect with ad-hoc networks so i was wondering what Bluetooth tethering app people were using.
pdanet tablet version works.
I use an older version of wireless tether that still has bluetooth tethering on it, works great.

If not, you can root it with Prime 1.5 ROM that comes with the wpa_supplicant file needed for wifi ad-hoc.

I have a rooted Htc Thunderbolt running Cyanogen.
I also have a Galaxy Tab 10.1 that I cannot connect to the wireless tether program or Barnacle wifi.
It sees the SSID from wireless tether but is stuck "obtaining IP address."
In Barnacle it doesn't even see the network created.
My Ipad connects to the wifi tether feature of either program without significant trouble.
Any thoughts on how to remedy this problem?

I finally got it working on my rooted Thunderbolt (running latest HTC GB release).
Download the latest wifi tether at (code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/downloads/list).
I changed two settings: Setup-Method:"Softap (master)" and check "Routing Fix."
After that, I was able to connect my non-rooted Tab 10.1 to my Thunderbolt.
Does anyone know of a recent Android NAND EU rom that has WIFI Hotspot working???

Try Barnacle Wifi from the google market. Works on almost every ROM where native tethering doesn't.

+1 for robb4u's link. That is my current rom and wifi hotspot works perfectly. I used it this evening.
I have MIUI and wifi hotspot works just fine
hyperdroid 5.3.0 CM7, works natively both WIFI hotspot and USB tethering
Barnacle is the best way to go (only way right now) if you want a Sense 3.0 or higher rom... the rom i use most of the time as my daily user is the MyTouch 4G rom by Motoman.. its an older rom only running 2.2 Froyo but hey it has been the smoothest one i have used and the WiFi Hotspot works great..if ya want to try it here is the link...

So I'm a newb to phones but I have two HTC EVO 4gs and rooted both. The only difference between the two being that my phone has the ChopSuey kernel and my wifi tether works and my wife's does not have a kernel and her wifi tether does not work. The issue at hand is that her phone will open the wifi tether app and will allow computers to connect to it but once you try to use the internet it says no connection exists. Any help?
My phone is an HTC Hero cdma(sprint) that I rooted with z4root and cm7. 1. I tried almost every single version of the wifi tether app on the code Google website and none of them work.
My cm7. 1 has usb tether but not portable wifi hotshot. If anybody knows a way I would be really grateful.
The Hero only has Ad-Hoc wireless tether so your device may not be able to connect to Ad-Hoc networks and only infrastructure networks.

I'm running Wireless Tether v 2.0.7 on my CM6 Hero without problems.

Doesn't CM7 have the native tether app in the CM config screens? I don't tether with my Hero but I will have to take a look at it when I get home. I know that I used to use wireless tether app routinely so the Hero will def tether just fine.
Cyanogen mod 7.1 has tethering via usb but not portable wifi hotspot. I may have to flash to cm6 see if it becomes available. Thank you for the responses ill post back after my attempt.
