Which Froyo build has Portable Wifi Hotspot working?

I'm currently on mattc 1.5 and everytime I turn on portable wifi hotspot, the system restarts itself.
So anyone has tried out this feature on other builds?

I hear it doesn't work on any. It. Also hear that some of the tethering apps wor.

yeah, i think NONE of the builds are having it working now..

yes, thats the only thing which isn't working. all other features are working very well.
i hope the wlan router will work in future by an update

I have other tethering applications working, such as WIRELESS TETHER FOR ROOT USERS.
Then again, other in-market applications exist that serve the same or similar purpose. Also, the wired, USB-tethering works quite nicely...
Hopefully the Wi-Fi Hotspot issues are worked out soon!

WIRELESS TETHER FOR ROOT USERS should also not be working. It uses the same data tables as the built in hotspot. I've tested wireless tether on my two builds and it does not work.

step 1
install pdanet on pc
(cant put link cos im new-google it)
step 2
install pdanet from google market and istall it on pda.
now connect the usb to pc and Complete the Installation.

[Q] Working Barnacle wifi tether?

I was just wondering if there is a working wifi tether for the htc hd2 running android OS. Im currently using mattc's froyo 1.8 w/sense and I installed barnacle and it connects, however there is no network access/internet access and it doesnt show me connected to my laptop from my hd2. Just wondering if anyone here knows how to get it up and working

I have the same problems with my HD2 configuration (look at signature).
Connection working but no internet access.

most of the newer builds have native tethering working fine, might be something to look into.

Wireless tethering doesn't work

The app wireless tether does not work for me anymore. It says wireless tether has started with errors. I check the log and many things failed such as setting channel, setting essid, setting ad-hoc mode, and activating wifi interface. How can I get this to work? Running CM7 with the HDMI kernel.

Same here. I tried to reinstall and it doesn't work. I'm using UD and Myn's.

no errors but nothing will see it when scanning

The only thing I have got to work is Barnacle..and also the built in hot spot works well too.

I've been having the same issue. Barnacle works but that only does an adhoc network, so my PS3 and Kindle won't connect to it

Works fine on my stock 2.2 Evo. Just used it today.

I had the same problem, but I was able to get it working with version 2.08-pre1 ***Experimental***. The latest version did not work for me on CM7 nightly, and the native one didn't work either, but the version above works like a charm!

Native one works perfect for me on CM7 build 22.

Works great on ava z3 rom for 3g as for 4g I have to use the green tether or i get the you have not subscribed to this service call sprint like yea I'm gonna pay to use 4g and kill my battery

go into rom manager and choose fix permissions.. bingo!
if that doesnt work check wifi settings and make sure that you dont already have a preinstalled tethering app ( some newer roms like destroyer have this built in )

PhonHelp with wireless tether please

My phone is an HTC Hero cdma(sprint) that I rooted with z4root and cm7. 1. I tried almost every single version of the wifi tether app on the code Google website and none of them work.
My cm7. 1 has usb tether but not portable wifi hotshot. If anybody knows a way I would be really grateful.

The Hero only has Ad-Hoc wireless tether so your device may not be able to connect to Ad-Hoc networks and only infrastructure networks.

I'm running Wireless Tether v 2.0.7 on my CM6 Hero without problems.
Let me know if you can't find that version.

Doesn't CM7 have the native tether app in the CM config screens? I don't tether with my Hero but I will have to take a look at it when I get home. I know that I used to use wireless tether app routinely so the Hero will def tether just fine.

Cyanogen mod 7.1 has tethering via usb but not portable wifi hotspot. I may have to flash to cm6 see if it becomes available. Thank you for the responses ill post back after my attempt.

GingerDX: Android WIFI Hotspot

How can I enable WIFI hotspot on GingerDX? I run version 022. I tried to enable it using the quicksettings app, but that gives an error.

With Barnacle, unfortunately, you can do only adhoc connetions and not wifi hotspot...

Thanks. I already knew about barnacle. But I read on the android changelog that wifi hotspot was included in android 2.2.

yeah, but in GingerDX only USB tether is available.
However, my collegue have Samsung S2 with Cyanogen 7.2 and je have WiFi tether perfectly working how adhoc and actual hotspot point for devices not adhoc ready.
