Amazon doesn't seem to be able to help, so I'm hoping someone here can!
When I try to download an app, I get the authenticating message then nothing happens. It immediately goes back to the app store home page. If I try to go yo my apps from the app store menu, it goes to the my apps page long enough for me yo see that it says no apps available. Then it again goes immediately back to the app store home page.
Any ideas?
clear data in app mgmt for Venezia or appstore reboot try again
Nope. That didn't do it. Anyone else? It's like my app library isn't there even though I know I have Fire compatible apps in it.
I know I had to re-enter my Amazon credentials once I loaded ICS. I'm not positive, but I think the time it asked for them was when I launched the normal Kindle OS/Theme (I'm still a newb to the vocab when it comes to this stuff) and then went to the Apps, and then Store.
You probably could just unregister and reregister your Fire too, thus inputting your Amazon credentials that way too.

I had Getjar installed on my Elocity when I bought it. If I click on the Getjar icon, I get taken to a page on the Internet that no longer exists. How can I change Getjar so that when I click on it, I will get taken to the Getjar site on the Internet. Is Getjar an okay app, or is there a better one? (I don't believe I can delete the Getjar app from this Elocity A7.)
Also, would anyone know a good, free, weasther app that I could download that would show the weather (in my vicinity) on the Home screen (background) , similar to the time that appears there now?
amazon, google android market
use this to get android market working http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1431967
after you root the device you can install the amazon app store and buy the root explorer if you don't get it through other means. it's a useful app, buy it. you can find the getjar program in /system/app, where you drop off the google apps. be careful when you remove the default apps, try to force stop them before uninstalling. 2 of them can't be stopped(one is fring and i can't remember the other, i think it had a light blue icon) and after they are uninstalled will give an error that will keep popping up, just hard reset and continue.
for the weather app, just search 'weather widget' in either app store. keep in mind that app will be a battery drain.

Thank you. Sorry, but I am new at all of this (tablets, etc.) and don't know what you mean by "root," "drop off," "default apps," "force stop," "error popping up," etc. Really confusing and I do not want to make my grandson's A7 unstable, etc.
I just got a Kindle Fire for my wife and it is linked to an already existing Amazon account, with a valid Credit Card linked and working fine with books.
When I try to go into the App Store it lets me in but I can't download anything. I can't even get into the "MyApps" section. A box pops up saying "Authenticating" but then goes away, and it goes back to the screen I was just on.
I noticed this issue out of the box and did some research where people made some recommendations such as "Clear Data" from the App. That didn't help, neither did a factory reset. I was hoping that rooting it and uninstalling the App Store app would help, but it didn't.
I figured I would try to turn off the in-App purchasing to see that might help but it would not accept my password. Hmmm Odd, I wonder if somehow this is holding onto an old account, since this was a refurbished Fire.
Personally I could live without the Amazon App Store and the Stock Rom, but my wife really wants it setup and wants to preserve the look and feel.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
I had that same thing. For me the problem was that I had too many devices registered with the Amazon App store, since I frequently reinstall ROM on my tablet.
There are two places the Kindle gets registered. One is under Mange My Kindle and the other is somewhere within you app store settings. I removed all my devices from the Manage My Kindle area but that didn't fix it. I actually had to call Amazon and they removed all my device registrations from the App Store portion for me, but they said I would have been able to do it myself if I had gone in there.
Sorry I don't have the specific directions to the link. But you should be able to find all your associated devices in you App Store settings online and delete them. After doing this I just restarted my Kindle and the app store worked like a charm.
Thanks that was exactly it. I have a Gtablet and 4 Android phones that get flashed all the time. I went in and deleted them and it fixed the problem.
The path to get to this section is:
Amazon Account settings -> Android Apps & Devices -> Your Devices
And start de-registering devices no longer needed.
I generally despise the Amazon app store, but I caught a few free apps there that I didn't want to pay for on Google. Had 'em all on my Note 4, but absolutely nothing from Amazon will install on the V20.
I've cleared cache/data, restarted, I don't have any Amazon pre-installed bloat disabled, I'm on Verizon so I'm not rooted or anything, I switched to the stock launcher... I haven't done a factory reset, but I've tried everything short of that I could think of and nothing is working... It'll download apps but stay stuck at "Installing..." forever.
I called Amazon customer service and they were worthless, they had me try everything I'd already tried then washed their hands of me and told me to contact LG...
Anybody else seen this problem or know of a fix?

More than likely it's a compatibility issue w/Android 7.0+>,hard to say for sure, not knowing which exact apps you're trying to install.
Typically,Amazon versions of apps are slow to be updated as it is,so,you have a couple of things to look at.
My amazon underground app took a few tries. Pretty sure at one point it was struck on installing and I just backed out of it and it was finished even though it acted like it wasn't.
I have Amazon underground (shopping app) word twist (game) and Amazon music but that's all from Amazon I think.
It's not that the apps themselves won't work, it's that Amazon won't actually install them. In particular I was trying to install Plex, but I've tried a good dozen or so. General stuff, like Yahoo mail and Spotify - everything hangs at installing.
I think something must be hosed with my Amazon app, I just don't know what...

I just installed PLEX w/no issues,T-Mobile version (H918).
Do you have the UNKNOWN SOURCES enabled in Settings > Security?
I'd check the app permissions, make sure they're enabled.
Also clear the store app cache/force stop & try again.
If that fails, delete all the store app data,sign-in anew & try yet again.
If none of that works, perhaps try an older version of the Amazon Appstore .apk:
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/amazon-mobile-llc/appstore/
Huh, I'll be... I don't know what happened with this, but I managed to get Plex installed just now...
I was poking around in my file manager and the Android/data/com.amazon.mShop.android folder had an apk in it, "update-154-1479665130487.apk" - turns out that was Plex. It wouldn't install from there because of a media scan. I moved it to my SD card and it installed straight away.
So yay, resolved-ish. Thanks for your input everybody!
I couldn't get video to download. Same issue stuck on installing. Finally just downloaded an apk and called it good
It took two tries to download Amazon video. It got stuck at the download part after I went through all those steps Google make you go through to keep people from using Amazon apps. But worth the effort since you can download certain movies and series with your Prime membership. Saved me on a United flight that surprised many by charging just to watch TV!! I don't think one person paid for it. I also have a YouTube Red subscription but hadn't gotten around to reloading all the content onto my new 256 GB Samsung Plus sd card.
I posted the message below on the Amazon device forum but most folks on there don't seem to know how to turn things on so I'm hoping I get sensible help here:
My fire HD 8 (2017) has suddenly stopped me opening games. Bad piggies and cut the rope, both installed from the Amazon store and worked last week.
I just tried to open them and get a message saying I need to turn on Amazon Underground data tracking. I tap the button to allow and it takes me to the settings menu ( as per screenshot).
There's no menu with this option, I also thought the underground app had been discontinued. I can't find the option in the app store or the Amazon games app.
Any one else has the same problem? Googling just refers to the old underground app.
My reply to the helpful "Have you tried restarting" from Amazon support.
I've tried restarting and holding the power button down but still the same. I also tried uninstalling one of the apps and reinstalling.
My fire is on version 5.6.2.0 (I'm in the UK but the show mode isn't activated yet).
This new version seems to have a lot of bugs. I was impressed with the tablet before but now I'm seeing slow down doing certain tasks. I have the permanent "Alexa Devices" notification. When the wifi disconnects I get 3 notifications about alarms and reminders until wifi reconnects. Now I can't use some Amazon app store apps.
Any ideas?
Cheers

Could it be, that the apps just weren't updated since the Underground closure?
Maybe that one is on the devs, not on you or Amazon.
Hi Creeju,
I've figured it out, there's an option in the menus to turn on data tracking, nothing to do with the underground apps. Its in the security and privacy menu -> app data tracking.
I'll post a screenshot later when I'm back on the tablet. Amazon support eventually replied to an email and said it was in the "Apps and Games" menu, it's not.
Edit: Screenshot added, it's the "Collect App Usage Data" option
Thank you for this info! My son brought his tablet to me this morning with the same problem and I couldn't for the life of me figure out where this setting was.
Same Issue, I am having the same issue. I'd already found the setting in security tab

I am having the same issue. I'd already found the setting in security tab, but it is already turned on, so I'm still getting the same message and can't play the games that I purchased my fire to play. I should have just bought an android tab!!!
Using an Amazon Fire HD 8 tablet. I've installed the Google Play Store and it works fine.
When I log on to the app store from my PC and select an app to install, I see my android TV, my cell, but the Amazon tablet isn't listed.
Is there a way for Google to know the tablet exists outside of the tablet?

Have you installed anything on the HD8 using the play store? My HD10 shows up in my list.
Yes. I've installed several things from within the tablet. Apps update fine as well.
When I log on from my PC though, the Amazon tablet just isn't listed as one of my devices.

I asked google and found this:
"I had a similar issue (new device can install from Google Play, but from the website it wasn't being shown as a device under my Settings).
What I had to do was to go into Settings/Apps/Google Play on the device and then clear the data. Once that is done, when you next launch Play, it will ask you to accept the terms and conditions. Then I just downloaded an app (any app will do) on the device. This seems to alert the web settings that there's another device.
I then checked my settings on the Play website and the device was now listed (no delay, it was there straight away). Note that I never logged out of the Browser, or cleared any browser caches etc. Effectively the step are:
1. Clear the Google Play app cache on the Android device.
2. Start Play and accept T&Cs
3. Download any app from inside the Play app.
Hopefully this will work for others too."
I cleared the data & cache from: Google Account Manager, Google Play Services, Google Play Store & Google Services Framework.
No change. It doesn't even ask me to accept terms and conditions, it just logs me back on. It must be storing my data elsewhere(?)
Edit: It took a long time, but eventually it finally started appearing. I have no idea what that was about.
