I tried posting this in General Android Q&A since this is happening on both my tab and my phone running ICS, but Browser sync always fails. Since it fails on both devices, I imagine there is some sort of google account setting preventing this, but I for the life of me cannot figure this out, and I've gotten zero responses in my other thread.
Don't know why I could not find this answer for weeks, but just solved it using the following: http://blog.abrah.am/2011/12/sync-is-currently-experiencing-problems.html

Alright guys, I've searched all over and this question keeps getting asked but no one cares / sees to answer it.
I am having troubles syncing my Facebook Contacts after installing DL09 and Superclean Rom w/ Ad Test Kernal (newest one).
Sync will stop and say "it's currently having problems check again".
I figured making a thread will gather some attention to this issue, as I have searched and found nothing but unanswered questions by fellow members.
Thanks!
I've seen that message every so often and, for me at least, it seems to mean what it says. It's always started working again after waiting some random amount of time and trying again -- though sometimes it took a few days.
I have not found any way around it other than waiting, which leads me to conclude the SNS system just sucks. I'll never understand why Samsung made their own social network sync system when the Facebook and Twitter apps have far-superior systems built-in -- both of which SNS overrides and disables. Yet another benefit of AOSP roms!
Well my brothers phone, without Superclean ROM, works perfectly.
Clearly this issue is connected?
I would post this in the devolepment thread, however post count limits me to here...
I reinstalled modem, no luck...

This doesn't belong in development. unless you are developing this doesn't belong there. Btw, thanks for not doing so.
Anyways, can you simplify your question? I'm confused with the way you worded. Did you want facebook sync support from samsung our from the facebook app?
After rereading, do you have touch wiz launcher still installed?
Samsung's facebook requires tw launcher. But you would get fc acore.
We'll now I'm plain confused. I tried my dads facebook login on my phone, worked perfectly (he's got about 30 people). I tried mine again and it says currently experiencing problems. However, it was working perfectly earlier today on my account on DJ05, before I upgraded.
Now I feel like this has nothing to do with superclean, but my account (even though it was working earlier)?
I assume this is Samsung's SNS, how do you sync through the Facebook app?
Yes, I was going to tell you that I have no issues with sync with fb sns. The fb app doesn't sync with this phone.
Try logging in to fb on a computer. There may be a password issue.
The Facebook Android app works perfectly, I've been on it all day and my computer.
I'm thinking, before I upgraded to DJ09 I backed everything up (backup pro). Contacts, call, apps, you name it.
I'm wondering if when I restored it, it corrupt(edly) installed the contacts and the facebook login so maybe because the phone thinks its already connected it wont?
thats a rambling but idk.
If you can't log in it's probably a different issue.
I'm just going to reinstall supahclean, wipe data and retry. I feel like mybackuppro had something to do with it... brb
Well, make sure you don't restore system settings. Especially between versions because the settings get funny between versions.
I just bought my Fascinate with DL09 already on it and I'm having the same issue with Facebook not syncing my contacts. My phone is still completely stock so this is an issue with the Samsung software.
Hi all,
This is my first post here, so please bear with me. I'm running CM7 stable and tiamat 4.0.1 currently.
I'm have two main problems:
1) Gmail sync. I've tried most of the tips I've seen on this forum and others about clearing the cache, resyncing my Google account and re-installing the app. They all amount to temporary solutions as my phone just doesn't seem to sync with my Gmail account. From what I remember, wasn't there some sort of setting in either "Accounts & Sync" or the actual Gmail app itself that lets the user determine sync frequency?
2) WhatsApp push notifications. I received a message at 12:22AM and did not get a push notification until 7:22AM. I've poked around in the settings as best I could and don't see anything about sync or even push notifications beyond the basic pop-up and style settings.
Aside from Spotify, these apps are the two I use most on my phone. I've searched tirelessly for the past 2 days for a solution to this problem to no avail. Any and all help/recommendations/suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

No, Gmail syncs with push automatically, there is no setting to change this.
As for your problem, it could be one of two things. One, could be a bad signal or 3g outages in your area. How is your signal all day at home/work? Does this same problem happen on wifi? The second possible problem is it's just a problem with your rom/kernal. You could try flashing back to a stock from for a few days and see if it clears up the problem.
My signal has been consistent since rooting.
I haven't tested it out while on WiFi; I'll give it a look when I get to my home network, but if that's the case, is it indicative of a problem I could address that would make my Gmail sync over 3G?
And seeing as how I'm still very new to all of this, is there a specific Stock ROM/Kernel combination that you would recommend in terms of stability/reliability? I tend to get really lost and confused with all the posted ROMs.

You unfortunately aren't going to get much help on this IMO for these reasons;
We don't work for Asus (no motivation to help end-users with such issues)
The problem is not common enough for devs to have looked into, random reboots are more important right now (they work for free and thus devote their time accordingly)
You didn't offer any information about your device, it's firmware, rooted or not, how you updated (via OTA or CWM).
If that last line sounds like a foreign language then you should know that this is a website for modders and developers, not just end-users, and we really don't troubleshoot proprietary issues (like problems caused by Asus updates) unless they begin affecting a lot of users in our community..and this is the first I've heard of this issue.
In the end, your best bet is going to be a factory reset or rooting and installing CWM (if you haven't) and reflashing GAPPs..again, if you don't know what that means then your issues are best resolved via Asus customer support. If you do know what that means then you should know better than ask questions without giving any info on your device lol
I suggest reading the link in my sig (asus noob guide if it applies to you) and if you can't learn enough from that post to resolve your issue, you will at least be able to install CWM and reinstall the GAPPs manually. Good luck! And please report how you fix your issue when you do resolve it.
There is actually a Google support thread for this issue (I had it too). Simply, you probably have a rogue repeating event in your Google Calendar; find it, delete it and everything will be OK. But if, like me you have a lot of repeating events, it can take a long time.
I am coming from an iPhone and finally decided to make the switch. This phone is excellent by I have a serious problem with them emails. They don't fit the screen. I can't stand scrolling around the screen to view the entire email. I have googled this has found that people have been complaining about this for almost a year since the ICS upgrade from GB. There seem to be no solutions. This is my last resort and I am about to give up and buy an iPhone 5. I hope someone can help and point me in the right direction.
PS a lot of people mention landscaped view which does not really work because the email header take up more then half the screen leaving almost no space to view the email it self making it even more inefficient.
Gmail - General Settings - Ensure "Auto-fit messages" is checked
AutoFit emails to screen Android
Thank you. The Gmail app for the longest time did not have these options so I din't even bother to check.
To everyone else who needs this. I have done some research and found that Gmail 4.2 only avail on JB 4.1 fixes this problem. ICS has only updated Gmail to 4.1.2 so this feature is not avail. But I have successfully uninstalled 4.1.2 on ICS and installed Gmail 4.2 and it works. But be warned that there is no option to AutoFit on ICS. Emails autofit by default so you cannot turn it off. Important for people who need large text.
Here is the tread for more info. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933273
Hello again,
I've been asking a lot of questions lately regarding my new Note 3, but up until recently have started to notice things that I am not able to do, in regards to syncing and integrating 4.3 with my OSX environment.
So what I like to try and start, is a thread that people can come to (me) and ask questions about how Android can work with the OSX apps similar to how the iPhone and OSX worked. :cyclops:
My first question is; Am I able to get S Planner to sync directly with iCal and have them push information between the two whenever one may get updated away from the home?
Thanks for any advice - and I'm sure there will be many more to come!
Or not.. ?

A quick warning up front: I've not got my Note 3 yet, so I'm not 100% sure this works with S Planner, but this should work assuming it uses the standard Android sync system and some some weird Samsung-only thing.
That said, on my Nexus 7 I'm using Marten Gajda's CalDAV-Sync to sync with iCloud (I assume that's what your Mac's syncing with) and it works fine if you set server caldav.icloud.com, use SSL and use your Apple ID username and password.
He also does CardDAV-Sync which can sync contacts from iCloud (use server contacts.icloud.com instead).
Not connected with the author, just someone who's been using the apps for several months now without problems. I'd link to the Play Store pages but I don't think I'm allowed to link in my first post
Thanks for that info! I did contact the developer regarding his app but was a bit concerned about the app permission and my login details. I've ended up just basically copying my info over to Google and deleted the info off of iCloud. Next is trying to figure out syncing notes to google keep ?

Hello again,
SInce my last post I have switched to a Nexus 5 and have been loving it ever since.
I had to RMA my current Nexus due to dead pixels and have only just come across how difficult it is to do a 'complete' backup of the device. (Similar to an iPhone) and have yet been able to figure it out.
My Nexus isn't rooted and therefore it seems it might be harder to do.
Do any ex-iPhone users have any suggestions on how they do a complete back up of their Android device?
