I just flashed Taboonay 3.0 ICS ROM on my A500 and it's working smooth, awesome job.
But there's a tiny problem keeps bugging me. When I lock the screen, that is to press the power button, sometimes it will just normal lock. And apparently, most of the times, lockscreen never shows up so I have to turn the power on again.
How can I fix that problem?

Are you using the "lockscreen mod"? If so, it is a feature not really meant to be used in this "beta" version of ICS. Notice I said "beta", as it is not an official Acer release.
Also, because this is a beta, sometimes, you have to hit the PWR button several times, then wait. Maybe you will wake the lockscreen.
Also, did you flash the 3.0.1 update? You need to do this if you didn't. It fixes Sleep of Death issues.

I've been getting very strange/unwanted touchscreen issues for a while now. It seems to happen randomly and for hours at a time. When I press the power button to wake the phone and turn the screen on, I can't even drag the unlock slider to unlock the phone. It takes numerous wake/sleep power button presses until I can get the screen to respond to my finger. Sometimes I'll be typing and it will go crazy and highlight buttons back and forth quickly, usually two or three letters almost always off to the left side of the screen. When this happens I am unable to get it to stop or register any other screen presses. I have to press the power button and then press it again to wake it and I'm stuck at the unlockable lock screen. Only after repeated attempts does it finally get through and the problem will go away for a while, only to come back later.
I have used the program 'Dotty' to track the touch points and I noticed that it will sometimes show a multicolored touch point off to the left of the screen and it will jump around, and it won't detect any other new touch points.
Soooo I think my screen touch sensor is messed up somehow. Does anyone else have this happen? Seems to have started when I flashed the kernel to get rid of the 30 fps cap. I have recently flashed Fresh 3.1.0.1 and still have this problem, different kernel with that rom correct? I'll try to get a video up sometime to show this in action...
Yes, I've been having the exact same issue. I even did a hard reset, with the assumption that it was an app. My plan was to add them back slowly until I got the issue, the problem was it happened as soon as the phone rebooted on the reflash. I have no idea what the issue is, but its very frustrating.
I'm running 2.2 stock...
Some people have reported touch screen problems with netarchy's kernel. There is usually a revision to correct this problem for people who are experiencing it. I suggest you carefully read over the OP in that thread and determine what kernel is right for you. There is usually a version specifically for Fresh users also.
MIGHT i ask what widgets are you running??
i talked about it before when running the pre-official ota rom.
it was my htc music widget (half sized one) i had running on the home screen.. caused lag like a mofo, couldnt swipe most of the time, capacitive buttons wouldnt react, pressing the app drawer button wouldnt respond till 5 seconds later...
AS A MATTER OF FACT.
im running fresh 3.1.0.1 + latest kernel + music widget on home screen.. LAAAGGG like before. removing it makes things snappier again.
YEP. Its happening again.
when i ran the STOCK Official rooted rom, with music widget on home screen didnt produce this lag and poor touch input, even with kernel it didnt produce this problem.
Mine is fine, no screen problems!!! stock rooted rom!!
Okay, so I just rooted my HTC Aria with the latest nightly build of froyo. Well, the problem is sometimes when I lock my phone, I'll pick it up and press the power button to turn the screen on and I won't be able to enter my password because the touch screen is unresponsive. After about 30 seconds or so it will become responsive again. Anyone else have this problem and/or know what's causing it?

a lot of people are having this issue, its a known issue. attn1 says that the 8/13 nightly build has a kernel upgrade to potentially solve this issue
When I hit the power button to shut the screen off, it flashes brightly before it goes off.
Wondering if this is a Nook Color thing in general, or just a CM7 thing. Is this related to the fact that the screen animation doesn't work on CM7 when using the current kernel? I heard that Dalingrin had the screen animation working in the early test kernel and wondered if this got rid of the screen flash as well.
FWIW, mine flashes also. I haven't researched the cause, though.
CM7.0.2 from SD, when I tap the power button, it fades over about half a second. No flash, although occasionally there's a flicker in the middle of the fade. Power on happens much quicker, but there is a bit of fade-in.
I did enable on and off animations, even though I didn't think they were supposed to work yet.
this is a CM7 thing. its a power off and on animation. if you dont like it you can turn it off in settings. personally i like it. it reminds me of the old CRT screens.

More specifically it's a 2.3 thing - but I think the problem is that it doesn't work the same as on other standard resolution screens so it just ends up 'flashing' rather than doing a fancy animation. Your solution is correct though.
Interesting. The on/off animations are off by default in the Encore build. I enabled them in the settings and still had the flash (as one would expect). However, once I disabled them again everything was fine. I wonder if this is another persistence bug, similar to airplane mode?
My screen flashes whether the screen animations are on or off, though to be fair it doesn't flash every time, definitely more often than not though.
Mine is more of a quick blink rather than an obvious flash. And it isn't consistent.
My screen flashes as well. It just started doing this yesterday and I've been running cm7 off my sd card for about a week with no other problems. Worse, sometimes the screen turns green and stays that way until I hit the N button. Any idea what this means and possibly how to fix it? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Which version of CM7 are you running? I haven't seen the flash or the green screen since I switched from 7.0.2 to nightly 86. Maybe it's coincidence, but it looks like the flash issue has been fixed.
(The power button does sometimes turn off the screen briefly then turn it right back on again -- hitting the power button a second time always turns it off.)

It's the CM7.0.3 stable version. Maybe I should do an update. I wasn't sure if that was the problem since it had just started doing this. Are you saying you've seen the green screen? Just curious because I can't find anything about it anywhere. Thank you for your response. I'm going to try out the nightly and see if that fixes the problem.
Mine does more of a quick flicker,i think its the screen off/on animation issue on the nook because the animation works fine on my droid incredible cm7

Actually, that's what mine does too. Sometimes there's a flash, but most of the time it's a quick flicker. If it's just the animation then I probably don't need to worry about it. It's just the green screen that worried me...though that only occurred when I kept messing with it. I haven't messed with it the past couple of days so I haven't seen the green screen. Maybe I was causing some kind of error.

Yup, I've seen the green screen. I don't remember what build I was on at the time because I looked at a bunch over a couple of days. It could have been 7.0.3.
Or maybe I messed up something on my nook, and flashing another build corrected it? Either way, I haven't seen it in a few weeks.

That's good that you haven't seen it in a while. And not that I want anyone else to suffer, but I'm glad I wasn't the only one. LOL. Hopefully that means I'll have an easy fix. I haven't seen it in a few days myself, so I'm just going to wait and see what happens. Most likely I'll update to a nightly. Thanks for the responses. Now I'm not worried about it anymore.
I have been running CM7 on my Nook Color successfully for about 6 months now, but there is an ongoing issue that drives me nuts. Any help is appreciated. The problem is that, occasionally (about 4-5 times a week), the Nook will go to screen timeout and then not be able to come back out with any combination of buttons. The "n" button, power button, volume buttons, etc. all have absolutely no effect whether you press and release or hold down. The only way to get things back is to hold down the power button for 8-10 seconds and release...then hold the power button down again until the screen flashes and the green Cyanogen logo comes up. This, to me, is forcing it to shut down and then rebooting, though I can't see what's going on onscreen until the reboot. Then it will boot normally and work like normal......until the next blackout.
This happens even if the battery meter is fully charged, mid-way, or getting low...makes no difference. It will also happen no matter what the screen was when it timed out (home screen, app screen, etc.). Any ideas?

This is Sleep of Death (SOD). Well known issue. It happens when you have wifi set to stay on all the time. When the screen turns off and the nook goes into deep sleep, sometimes wifi and deep sleep get tangled up and you can't turn the screen back on. Only solution is to change your wifi setting or get a patched wifi module and flash that to your system. If you want a link to that patched file just ask and I will post it.
Edit: here it is:

Thanks for the solution
I guess I wasn't using the magic keywords to find the problem online. Thank you so much for the solution and link.
@leapinlar: Do we know if that fix will work with mrg666's new kernel?
It still reports 2.6.32.9 in about tablet but I was under the impression that was because he was too tired to change it that night.
In my case I'm just happy to set wifi to turn off when the screen turns off, (I hate, hate, double hate, loath entirely when a device I've put to sleep trys to get my attention).

The patch only works on 2.6.32.9 kernels. I don't know anything about his new kernel. Just backup your existing twlan_drv.ko in /system/lib/module by renaming it .bak before flashing, and if it does not work restore your backup.

Yeah, I did that last night and didn't get an SOD but that really doesn't tell us much. I'll try to remember to take this over to his thread.

Well, if you flashed it and wifi still works, it is compatible. On the CM9 kernel, it worked on .9 kernel until they updated to .59 and then if you used the patch, wifi quit working.
G'day and HAPPY NEW YEAR,
I recently installed CM10 and v.0.9.1 made by Koshu and I really find it very nice, however, I have a few small problems, which may be of interest:
- If the tablet goes in Stand-by mode, I cannot wake it up anymore. I Need to press the power button for a quite long time and then it boots up from "Zero". I have also activated "wake up mode by Volume Buttons" but this also did not help. If I press the power button several times within a few seconds it even reboots too.
- Screen rotating doesn't work always. Sometimes the Screen just sticks.
- Have had some "hangings", which disappear after I return to home button.
Did anybody realized similar Problems or en has a solution?
Pleased to hear.
Best Regards
Hartmut

I had this issue to a few days ago but i was still on stock rooted rom.Power button was responding only to long press and even then it did a full restart of the tablet.
When i wanted to do a wipe in recovery i realize that the power button was not working in recovery either.
So it was not a rom related problem for me.
After some time i found the out that the problem was only there when i was charging the tablet.
Somehow one(just one) of my wall sockets is causing this sort of behavior.Maybe something wrong with the socket, do not know. The other sockets are working just fine.
I realized this when i unplugged the charger the problem went away.

I have the very same problem since I did the first install of the CM10 KOSHU ROM (8.1).
It isn't relative to the button hardware; it works perfectly during normal operation and with the original firmware, and it happens also when disconnected from the charger.
If I leave the tablet without using it for a longer time it remains stuck into a screen-off-impossible-to-wake state and the only way out is to reset (stylus push into the reset hole) or long power button press to force off and reboot.
It sometimes reboots without any reason.
The WiFi setting is "always on", as suggested by the Koshu ROM thread.
Hi,
in fact, both bugs appear to my device with v0.9.0 and 0,9.1, not with 0.8.1.
0.8.1 works perfectly to me, except the known issues with WiFi and Tethering.
I hope, Koshu will recover soo from New Years Party ...

I hope he didn't destroy too much brain cells during the Party, it would be a great loss without his excellent modding work .
By the way, I tried the wifi tethering today and it was functioning perfectly (given that you switch off the wpa protection before you try to connect to the tablet) on the 0.91 ROM.
