G'day and HAPPY NEW YEAR,
I recently installed CM10 and v.0.9.1 made by Koshu and I really find it very nice, however, I have a few small problems, which may be of interest:
- If the tablet goes in Stand-by mode, I cannot wake it up anymore. I Need to press the power button for a quite long time and then it boots up from "Zero". I have also activated "wake up mode by Volume Buttons" but this also did not help. If I press the power button several times within a few seconds it even reboots too.
- Screen rotating doesn't work always. Sometimes the Screen just sticks.
- Have had some "hangings", which disappear after I return to home button.
Did anybody realized similar Problems or en has a solution?
Pleased to hear.
Best Regards
Hartmut

I had this issue to a few days ago but i was still on stock rooted rom.Power button was responding only to long press and even then it did a full restart of the tablet.
When i wanted to do a wipe in recovery i realize that the power button was not working in recovery either.
So it was not a rom related problem for me.
After some time i found the out that the problem was only there when i was charging the tablet.
Somehow one(just one) of my wall sockets is causing this sort of behavior.Maybe something wrong with the socket, do not know. The other sockets are working just fine.
I realized this when i unplugged the charger the problem went away.

I have the very same problem since I did the first install of the CM10 KOSHU ROM (8.1).
It isn't relative to the button hardware; it works perfectly during normal operation and with the original firmware, and it happens also when disconnected from the charger.
If I leave the tablet without using it for a longer time it remains stuck into a screen-off-impossible-to-wake state and the only way out is to reset (stylus push into the reset hole) or long power button press to force off and reboot.
It sometimes reboots without any reason.
The WiFi setting is "always on", as suggested by the Koshu ROM thread.
Hi,
in fact, both bugs appear to my device with v0.9.0 and 0,9.1, not with 0.8.1.
0.8.1 works perfectly to me, except the known issues with WiFi and Tethering.
I hope, Koshu will recover soo from New Years Party ...

I hope he didn't destroy too much brain cells during the Party, it would be a great loss without his excellent modding work .
By the way, I tried the wifi tethering today and it was functioning perfectly (given that you switch off the wpa protection before you try to connect to the tablet) on the 0.91 ROM.

I find that my Minis' on/off button is unresponsive occasionally and I was wondering if anyone else felt theres was also?
Ive only had this issue when the phones locked and I bring it in and out of showing me my status. It appears the bottom icons have to light up before it will react to my press of the on/off button again.
Same for me ! Sometime I need to remove battery to restart using my HD MINI ...

I have the same problem, sometimes, the button is not responsive. There should be a solution for it. Someone has to report to htc.
I have the same problem, i think that it is caused by either to many running applications or by a application that hangs.
for the most i just have to wait a minute or two and then it works again.
Last time i connected the charger, it also worked and i have also tried to call the phone from another phone. it also worked.

yes... I think it's because of many programs... I have this when I'm doing something and I push the button fast to turn of the screen and suddenly remember I forgot something and push it again to turn on... I think It's normal!!
sometimes it's anything but normal, but i found a soft reset (or hard reset for that matter) often is the solution. So it's most likely an application or process that hangs, leaving it for a few minutes and then trying to unlock it usually does the trick
I have been running CM7 on my Nook Color successfully for about 6 months now, but there is an ongoing issue that drives me nuts. Any help is appreciated. The problem is that, occasionally (about 4-5 times a week), the Nook will go to screen timeout and then not be able to come back out with any combination of buttons. The "n" button, power button, volume buttons, etc. all have absolutely no effect whether you press and release or hold down. The only way to get things back is to hold down the power button for 8-10 seconds and release...then hold the power button down again until the screen flashes and the green Cyanogen logo comes up. This, to me, is forcing it to shut down and then rebooting, though I can't see what's going on onscreen until the reboot. Then it will boot normally and work like normal......until the next blackout.
This happens even if the battery meter is fully charged, mid-way, or getting low...makes no difference. It will also happen no matter what the screen was when it timed out (home screen, app screen, etc.). Any ideas?

This is Sleep of Death (SOD). Well known issue. It happens when you have wifi set to stay on all the time. When the screen turns off and the nook goes into deep sleep, sometimes wifi and deep sleep get tangled up and you can't turn the screen back on. Only solution is to change your wifi setting or get a patched wifi module and flash that to your system. If you want a link to that patched file just ask and I will post it.
Edit: here it is:

Thanks for the solution
I guess I wasn't using the magic keywords to find the problem online. Thank you so much for the solution and link.
@leapinlar: Do we know if that fix will work with mrg666's new kernel?
It still reports 2.6.32.9 in about tablet but I was under the impression that was because he was too tired to change it that night.
In my case I'm just happy to set wifi to turn off when the screen turns off, (I hate, hate, double hate, loath entirely when a device I've put to sleep trys to get my attention).

The patch only works on 2.6.32.9 kernels. I don't know anything about his new kernel. Just backup your existing twlan_drv.ko in /system/lib/module by renaming it .bak before flashing, and if it does not work restore your backup.

Yeah, I did that last night and didn't get an SOD but that really doesn't tell us much. I'll try to remember to take this over to his thread.

Well, if you flashed it and wifi still works, it is compatible. On the CM9 kernel, it worked on .9 kernel until they updated to .59 and then if you used the patch, wifi quit working.
I'm having temporary screen freezes when I want to take out my HTC HD2 with tytung's ICS version. When I press the buttonss they light up but the screen stays black. I can still receive phone calls and connect it to a PC, where the PC recognizes the phone. Sometimes after 20-30 minutes the wakes up like normal when I press a button.
Does anyone know the cause of this and is there a solution?
Thanks in advance.
Has your screen been unresponsive lately ?
read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=993787
I think your end button .. is dying?
It is not just the end button. None of the buttons give a response although they light up when I press them. Sometimes after 10 minutes or half an hour the phone is responding again.

Does this happen on every ROM? Also try flashing another kernel. It may be driver or hardware related.
It also happened with the previous ROM from Tytung. I disabled wifi for 2 days now and the problem has not occured yet. Normally it occured every day. Can it have something to do with WIFI?
i have had the same issue, and for me the only solution was to flash a new rom. if you're going to do that: try miui, i think it is very good(as soon as you've fixed all the problems with it it works perfect)
Did you try a clean install with task 29 before?
I only did the task29 the first time I started flashing a rom. After that I only changed the partition size once and updated from the zip file. What will another task29 do?
I have wifi disabled now for 4 days and haven't had the problem again. It seems that other people also have this issue, but is there no solution?
OK, here's an interesting problem... My phone can turn on fine, but once it's on the power button refuses to lock the screen. If I long press the power button, it acts normally by bringing up the power down / reboot menu. Not only this but somehow it is also linked to my wifi to get stuck on "Checking the quality of your wifi connection". The first time it happened, I took off my case, removed my s-pen and it suddenly worked again, and at the exact same time the wifi kicked right in as usual and all worked fine again. I assumed my case was putting pressure on the button yet the next time I restarted my phone (incidentally my case was already off) the same problem happened. Power button wouldn't lock screen but long press functioned fine, wifi stuck. I figured maybe my s-pen being taken out may somehow so something, trying to recreate the solution that worked the first time around, but it didn't work. About 10 seconds later I tried the lock button and it worked, and subsequently the wifi kicked in again. I haven't done a factory reset or tried a restore yet, I was hoping to avoid that if possible... just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas as to what could cause something so strange. I don't see any link between the power button and wifi functioning.
My phone is a T-Mobile Note 3, stock KK rom, stock kernel
rooted.
I appreciate any insight, advice, or opinions anyone may give me. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read about my issue!
Hello, my nook works fine if connected to charger, but it starts freezing and hanging if the USB is removed. The power button also doesn't respond so I can't switch off my nook, but the solution i found is when the freezing happens I connect the charger again then the light beside the USB glows green then turns orange and when the light turns orange the nook restarts itself.
Can any one help me with this odd behavior i'e it works fine if connected to a charger or PC but when removed it some times works for like 5 minutes then freezes. This behavior happens only when I root my nook when running stock firmware with out any root it seems to work fine, so I can't think about a battery problem.
What do you folks think about this, if any one faced this issue and found a problem please help me. Nook is such a wonderful reader and I like it rooted. I thought of a problem with the rooting method and tried all rooting methods (touchnooter, nookmanager, torimu, some custom roms) but the problem persists.
Thank you.
If it works on the stock ROM and freezes on a custom ROM, the usual suspects are close at hand:
Faulty rooting/custom ROM installation procedure --> try one of the newer ones, such as "Twisted Modded" or 1337-ROM, do a full wipe/reset before that
Faulty CWM --> Check your CWM version and see if another one is available
Thanks for the reply

However I sold nook and bought Kindle 7th gen and It works fine.
I experience very similar problem. It just freezes and doesn't respond anything. It's hard to tell when the reader freeze or just switched off by itself. Sometimes it's enough to hold the power button for about 3 seconds and it turns on as usually. Sometimes it requires to hold the button for like 20 seconds to switch it hard off and then it turns on as usually. When it loads it shows the battery as more or less charged (not less than 10%).
I can't link the problem with firmware - it first started on 1.1 rooted version, which worked great for years before. I switched to that 1337 ROM firmware yesterday and the same problem appears. It even appears in CWM bootloader...
Is it possible that it's just faulty battery problem? My NST is pretty old - I bought it in 2011. Can it be a problem with memory or something else? Any way to test it?
Sorry to hear that

Well I was done with it, so I sold it and bought kindle 7th gen and its been great but nook simple touch rocks with android and moon reader. I wish it worked for me but anyway kindle is doing a nice job paired with Calibre and Acrobat DC.
