ROOT @ FLASH KERNEL in 2 clicks, best way for a newbie :-)

!Don't work on Android 2.3.6+ .. only 2.3.5 and less! thanks Mittaa
Hi, im newbie and was gathering info from this execellent forum about root, flash kernel, custom recovery, flashing rom.. so i think there is most easy way for someone like me who is totally new to this, and i want to share it.
Step 1: ROOT, Download DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit connect phone to PC and click RUNME.BAT
Step 2: KERNEL, download DarkyOTA from Android Market, then select OTA > kernels, download and install kernel.
That's it you now have root and cwm recovery, ready to do nandroid backup and install custom roms.
First step is to backup your phone before you will test anything. When phone is off hold home+volUP+Power you will get into CWM Recovery and Choose Backup/Restore > Backup
PS: Make sure you have setup debug mode and checked unknow sources in your phone settings in step 1

But be aware that "DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit" only works with 2.3.5 and not stock 2.3.6 (Mexico and Holland have got it).

install ICS on Note on MAC??

Hi im trying to install ics on my galaxy note im on a mac i have tried heimdall every time i point a firmware towards it fails something about xml data mismatch.. Has anyone flashed there note with ics on a mac if so how plz could some one guide me ?? Thanks in Advance......
UPDATE this is what heimdall spits out when i point a firmware--> Tar header contained an invalid file size.<--

ive used heimdall for mac also same result....dunno what to do ..i just wanna root so i can kill some samsung bloaware.....

i just went and wasted two bloody hours on bootcamp installed windows 7 half the bloody drivers where missing no network driver couldn't connect to the net i.just got pissed off i deleted it dam this is driving me mad i need ICS ASAP..

How I Installed ICS on my Note
I had a lot of trouble getting ICS on my Note using my Mac. I gave up on Heimdall, and just ran Windows 7 in Bootcamp so I could flash directly rootable firmware to my Note using Odin. After that, I switched back to Mac OS X and used the whole zergRush exploit I found in the Galaxy Note wiki to root. Then I used Mobile Odin Pro to flash the ics repack, and finally cwm to flash the ics stunner beta. It took forever to get the whole thing set up, but it was worth it. if you have anymore questions just ask.
P.S. I still have no idea how to get Heimdall to work, sorry

this is what really irritates me with android the complexity of it all, if this was ios it would be a piece of piss and work on both sides, no disrespect to the devs on here but if the yanks where doing all the dev work for android it would be simpler ,but as its the europeans doing most of the dev work it seems like hard work again, no disrespect to the guys i appreciate their work whole heartedly

Did you look in Utilities Folder ???? Thats where bootcamp is located dude...

Mobile Odin Pro requires root, so you need root first, that was the hardest part of my process.

The better option to root, upgrade, etc... your phone using apple macintosh is using: bootcamp or virtual machine... I used vmware fusion and windows 7 pro! Can instal in virtual machine Linux too.

Can you believe this garbage i managed to get a windows 7 laptop then i headed over to rootgalaxynote.com to root my galaxy note... i downloaded his one click root program connected the phone hit the root application the root program has messed up my phone i cant make calls and i cant connect to mobile data networks ?? Has any one else had this problem if so what do i need to do to get my note back to making calls ?? Also it didnt root my phone this really sucks people

You have to reflash using Odin

what would be the best way to root a galaxy s i9000?? I looked around and there was not clear thread on how to root this device like with other phones. Am i not seeing something here...help!

Down super one click v2.3.3. Put phone in USB debugging and go! Easy!
Also if you are comfortable, flash a rooted kernel like cf root of semaphore with Odin as PDA. Then it will have clockwork mod also

The easiest and quickest way is to download a program called Odin on your Windows PC (its everywhere just search it on google or something) and then download a custom kernel, i.e. Semaphore and then flash it. (if you dont know how to do this then it should tell on the page with the kernel) This literally takes 10 seconds. I used to use all the one click root stuff but its garbage, it takes ages to root and if something happens during the process then you will have a phone that wont boot. I generally advice to stay away from them the way i mentioned prob sounds hard but once you understand it, it is really easy. And if your phone ever goes into a bootloop or "soft-brick" you can use Odin to fix your phone...

Considering that a lot of gentry is unawares of how to go back to their nandroid back ups from the 'unsafe' 4.04 Stock Builds and are afraid to flash kernels fearing that their beloved may develop cataract, get pimples or maybe pass way (god rest their souls..) , below is the most foolproof, noob friendly way of going back to stock set up while circumventing the dreaded 'emmc_cap_erase' bug...
- Go to Intratech's thread of all stock firmwares in Original Development section.
- Download Stock KL1 <http://hotfile.com/dl/146342883/c1bdbd7/I9100XWKL1_I9100ODDKL1_INU.zip.html> (because it is no wipe) + Odin tool (you did flash LPM/LPO/LQ5/LQ6, exactly the same way!!!)
- Switch off your phone, restart in Download mode (Volume Down+Home+Power), you will see a flash page, choose to continue.
- Fire up Odin, confirm that the phone is connected, Click on 'PDA' and add KL1, flash KL1.
- First reboot, phone will bootloop.
- Switch off, restart in stock recovery (Volume Up + Home + Power)
- Do a factory reset.
That is it!!! Your beloved has been saved from Satanic evil...! Now install your favorite GB/ 4.03 ROM/ CM9 or CM9 derivatives or restore a nandroid back up (if you had any... )

this is not a fix. this is a method to prevent brick. if you brickef it allready like I did, only PBA main replacement solves it.

I did exactly as stated in OP.. I just happened to read around before flashing ROMs ( ***noob flashaholics*** ).. And hence, even though I have an unsafe chip and after flashing LQ5, LPM and going back to VR 3.0 and now running LPO.. I write this from my phone..

Can someone confirm that this works when going from LPO backwars? Also why should I flash from ICS rom to GB rom? Isn't that bad for the phone? I wanna go to some stock rom from where I can flash the jelly bean preview

Yes mate, it works for LPO as well. You should flash a GB rom so that the unsafe kernel kernel is overwritten by a GB kernel which is completely safe before the phone or you attempt a wipe.
No it is not bad for your phone. In fact trying anthing else can be fatal for your phone.
Once you have taken the steps I have provided, you can flash the JB preview from CWM from the GB ROM.

He's actually right. Flash siyah or another custom kernel and you're good to go. Looks like the latest speedmod is safe as well.
To reset the counter and get rid of the triangle, use chainfire's app.
Or flash an older GB boot loader from Intratech's thread and use a jig.

My method is simple, requires no additional tinkering apart from the steps I have mentioned. Not all people like Siyah (3.1 brick incident) or want to go through the hassle of running a kernel cleaning script.
I want to keep it simple... You are free to open an another thread with the steps you feel are simplest.. You could call it "Simpler than Simplest...."

Use the Indian version, it is a no wipe.. You can then flash your own country's firmware over it..
Well, the <samsung-updates.com> is down for the moment, it has faster links. I guess megaupload it is for the moment then..

To have an informative thread an OP should first learn how to search and read. People suggested that you should search for it, which everybody knows is the answer for almost everything. If you want to know how to remove the triangle and add them to your first post, you should do your research first instead of asking the guy to spoon feed you the solution. Using TraingleAway is a no brainer, just simply flash an ICS ROM, run the app, press whatever is needed to be pressed (of course you need to verify that the information about, if you have a triangle or how many binary counts you have etc is correct), let it reboot and the binary counter and triangle will be gone. Of course just saying that won't guarantee the success of every people using it. There are some instances that problems occur that i haven't put in my so called "guide" for triangle away. The only way is to read the original post of TraingleAway thread.
If you want to help people by answering their query is to acquire knowledge on how to do things etc. You can't do that if you won't try to search and understand the subject first. Spoon feeding is the last thing we, as members of this developer site, should do.
Anyway, i am not here to bash you or anything. Of course i appreciate this thread because it will help people who are unaware how to safely flash their phone if they are on the famous "brickable ROM/Kernel". I am just here to remind you that no matter who we/you are, everyone needs to do their research first rather than people just giving you all the answer to everything. After all, using TriangleAway is "RISKY (well, i haven't heard anyone bricking their phone yet with it)" according to its developer hence the need to read its thread first before posting a guide to your thread. Good luck to you and your thread and hope you understand what i am talking about.

Root i9300 &i9305 and install cwm recovery with apps

Disclaimer: if anything bad happened to your phone using the method provided by me, I will take no responsibility! Use at your own risk.
This post is meant to provide an alternative way (newbies may find it easier) to root your phone.
If you want to flash custom rom and kernel, you will need to
1st, root your device;
2nd, flash cwm recovery.
Both of the jobs can be done by apps. This method is for normal noobs like me, you do not need to connect your phone to PC. You could always use other ways such as Odin to perform the same jobs, it's your choice.
Then, step by step here:
1) install framaroot app from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130276
2) open the app, press aragorn, reboot, done
now, you have your device rooted, then, go on to install cwm recovery
3) install rom manager app from here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager
4) open the app, flash cwm recovery ( it will download the recovery and flash it ), reboot, done.
now, you have installed the cwm recovery and you are ready to enjoy your rooted phone, for example, flash custom roms :good:
remarks: If some app needed you to have busybox installed in your device, go download busybox from here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.busybox.installer and install the busybox using the app.
All done by 3 simple free apps.
of course, when something bad happened to your phone, you may still need to use Odin to recover your phone, so, you are suggested to learn how to use Odin as well.

Roots it but you can't flash custom roms. So you're right, it is misleading. Most people who want "root" really want to flash custom ROMs and Kernels. It's not really "root" that they need for this but the process in those "misleading post" actually gives you the ability to do this where as framaroot doesn't.

Agree for most users the jobs not done and they then have to post how do install recovery .
Much prefer a one stop root and recovery .

Oh, I forgot to post the easy way to install cwm recovery here, maybe i have posted in another post. Actually, root is the first steps, the second step is to install cwm recovery. This is easy too.
After you use my method to root your device, reboot, install the rom manager ( from cwm in playstore), you could install the cwm using that app, so easy.
You don't need to use your pc or odin to do both jobs( root and install cwm recovery). This is what most people wanted and it is so easy that you cannot break your device at any chance.
Of cos , if you want busy box, you could download an app called busybox installer, install busy box with that app, so easy again.

So now we .....
1) root with framaroot
2) install recovery
3) install busy box
.........which will take us back to doh, re, me............cf root that does it all in one!

That's where I disagree..........we have enough problems with people not reading and not understanding............so to my mind, simple, quick fixes really are counter productive

Usual cause of a boot-loop or brick is not odin .
After root few use odin .
Standard boot loop error is user not bothering to read the faqs and guides .

I think this is the easiest way. This is how I do it.
Framaroot
Then flash recovery using mobile Odin. Every time and it works like a charm. No computer needed.
However it kinda worries me how easy Framaroot roots the device!!

I'd definitely recommend mobile Odin over ROM manager. It's not the safest app out there.
I'd still prefer to use a pc though because you're going to need it no matter what if it screws up for some reason. The guides we have here are tried and tested and engineered in such a way that a little bit of knowledge is acquired along the way. There's a lot of reading to be done but it IS essential.
As mentioned above, read the faqs. I feel that "quick and easy" is detrimental to our cause.... and its people like myself, slappy and jje who have to help people doing damage because they don't understand

Modifying /system ALWAYS carries a risk. if I were you, I'd put a disclaimer in post 1.
To have root, you need to modify /system 3 times. That's 3
1) You need to force an exploit to give you access to /system
2) You need to insert the su binary to /system/bin
3) You need the Super user apk forced into /system/app
...so please do not say "Will do not damage" because you do not know that.
Then, this only gives you root. If you want to do anything more than root, you still have to flash recovery. Flashing recovery modifies the /recovery partition. This also carries RISK.
Please be aware, you did not discover this method. It's not new, many people knew about it already. It's not as safe as you think

UPDATED detailed procdures:
Ok, to make it clear, if you want to flash custom rom and kernel, you will need to 1st, root your device, 2nd, flash cwm recovery. Both of the jobs can be done by apps. This method is for normal noobs like me, you don't need to use odin and you don't need to connect your phone to PC.
Of course , you could always use a complicated way to perform the same jobs, it's your choice.
Then, step by step here:
1) install framaroot app from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130276
2) open the app, press aragorn, reboot, done
now, you have your device rooted, then, go on to install cwm recovery
3) install rom manager app from here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager
4) open the app, flash cwm recovery ( it will download the recovery and flash it ), reboot, done.
now, you have installed the cwm recovery and you are ready to enjoy your rooted phone, for example, flash custom roms :good:
remarks: If some app needed you to have busybox installed in your device, go download busybox from here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.busybox.installer and install the busybox using the app.

@rootSU, I really have no intention to create fight here. My intention is simple, which is to provide a simple way to root for newbies.
I refer to the thread that provides the app rather then just providing the link to download the file so that people will know what they are downloading.
For newbies, I truely believe that installing app to perform the job is the easiest and safe way.

I agree that it may be the "easiest and safest way"....however, it still leaves new people with no working knowledge of Odin, and no gain in knowledge as well........to my mind, and many others, that is a one step fast forward, 2 steps back, as soon as problems occur, you have a panicking user, with no knowledge of how to flash back to stock, posting for help here, there and everywhere.
XDA always has been and always will be a place of learning and information sharing.
I'm not here to disagree with your thread, or to show any disrespect.....I'm just making this post for people coming here looking for the elusive "quick and simple " solution.....in the hope they may read it and take time to consider if they really want to learn from the ground up or wether they want to end up in a situation where they lack basic knowledge and have to swallow their pride and ask for the the basics to be explained.....even though they are already rooted and running "da neatest Rom eva"

Is it easy? Sure
Does it help users understand root? No. Quite the opposite
Is it Safe? No safer than any other method
Please try not to be too precious about your guide. We are being constructive. Its us who have to fix peoples phones. When they have no knowledge of what they have even done, its unfair for us to have to first teach them the basics they need to understand just so we can help them.
Some people just aren't meant to root but this guide gives those people the ability to root anyway and that my friend, is far more dangerous than any application or process

Its ok you do not agree with me. But it is every individual s own will to use what method to do the job . And its their will to learn or not learn.
If they use my method and break their phone and ask for help, you can help him or not help him. If you don't help him, there is always others willing to help.
Trail and error is how human being learn. There is no "correct" way to learn.
