Mozilla Boot-To-Gecko - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 General

So, i'm seeing that the SII has a working version of B2G. Would it be possible to make it work on the Note too?
(For the noobs, B2G is not Android. It's Mozilla's HTML-based OS)
- Galaxy SII Thread
- Mozilla's own tutorial on how to boot B2G on the SII

I'll second interest in this - I love Mozilla and I think this sort of an operating system is a good future to aim for, if a little ahead of its time right now. I hope we eventually see this brought to the Note.

very interested too!
[EDIT 2]
Yes, it is possible, we had to replace/add some drivers, but Kernel isn't very phone-specific

Do you know what to do? I would like to see it on my HTC Desire HD to
I think i'm able to do this with a bit more information
thx

I think i'd pull it, but i don't have enough power to do it. Minimum PC requirements are 4GB RAM and 64-bit Ubuntu 11.10. I have 2GB and 32-bit.
Sad panda indeed.

You could compile with less power, it only takes (a little to a lot) more time to compile depending on your configuration
Watching pulser_g2 thread since he posted it, I would be very interested too

any news here?
I've read on a German newspaper the only thing to do for a port is extract needed (shouldn't be as much, since it works for S2 and many drivers are shared - anyone knows more about the other drivers?) drivers and add them to the boot-2-gecko project before compiling it like in https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Mozilla/Boot_to_Gecko/Building_B2G_for_Samsung_Galaxy_S2

The buttons on the Nexus One are really bad. You should be glad that they did NOT make them like that.

much like capacitive dpad from diamond, at least that's what I understand had that phone, never owned one.
Cool looking, sure, but I can press buttons in the dark just by feeling their surface thi way... plus, you get more satisfaction out of the tactile feedback
I had initially meant to post this in this thread, but kinda mucked up and put it in the wrong one.

I know that it requires 2.3.7, but I'm wondering if you need certain hardware aspects too. If the version of Android is the only thing, then most of us can put an ICS ROM on there and be good to go.

I wish I could answer that for you with actual personal hands-on knowledge myself, but he below is what google has to says is what your phone needs to have for it to work for you.
"Eligible Phones
Google Wallet with tap and pay requires an NFC-enabled Android phone with a Secure Element chip running Gingerbread Android operating system 2.3.7 or equivalent. The first phone capable of running Google Wallet with all of these cutting-edge features is the Nexus S 4G on Sprint."
This link is a list of NFC enabled phones.
http://www.nfcworld.com/nfc-phones-list/#soon
According to that list I do not see the MT4G.
You need a NFC chip (Near Field Communication). The first smartphone to have one was the Galaxy Nexus S, released late last year, so no phones that are older than 4Q 2011 will have this capability.

Still wont work. According to the article the Phone needs to have a plastic sd card slot, therefore cannot be metal. In which the MT4G the are metal.

Well that is just equipping it with an external nfc chip, which i did not know was possible, but that is pretty impractical..what, choose between not having external storage at all, or swapping out the external storage when needed? What a pita..just get your damn credit card out of your wallet.
That might work on a device that has more internal storage than the glacier, but with only a few gigs internal replacing your external with this seems pointless.
I wasn't wrong..without an nfc it isn't possible
Edit: my bad, there is 8gb on the card..not enough for me though..maybe there are new ones with 16..
Edit 2: except that these devices have been delayed over and over, now coming 2Q 2012 supposedly, so as of right now, there is no way to get Google wallet to work on a phone without an equipped nfc chip.

PSA

This is a public service announcement:
With some hard work and a little luck, we will see the latest offerings of android, 4.2 Jellybean. The first previews and alpha builds are bound to have bugs, quirks and what have you. We have had an influx of noobs and newbs, no offense, here in the vibrant community. If you fall in either of those categories, please do not flash these ROMs. I realize this is a free community etc and you can, if you'd like, flash these ROMs, but for god sake, please do not clutter threads with,
"X app is force closing what do I do?
(I invite the community to give other examples)
If you can't reproduce the issue, properly diagnose and fix or run a logcat of the issue, please stay on other ROMs.
I thank you.

Good point! Mr. Developer, what's the eta on the next release? Will it fix 911? Will it fix the GPS? Will it give me 48 hours of battery life on a single charge? Most importantly, will it allow me to use my phone as a back rubber? I need me a good massage.

Ubuntu for phones announcement

Today, Cannonical has announcement a version Ubuntu for phones. They can found more info here: http://www.ubuntu.com/devices/phone
The requesites are very similar to HD2. Will be posible portable to it?
hope so...
Sorry for my bad English. I just reading that link. Some of my friend say that the Ubuntu OS is base on Android Kernel so we totally can port it to our HD2 but the rom running on Galaxy Nexus just a demo rom that mean the need a lot of time to config. Ubuntu OS is currently in the development stage and finishing, according to the source before we have to wait until 2014. I think that time is too long for our HD2.
^
well you never can say, there are a lot of Dev's here that are even miles ahead of those manufacturers/ phone companies, all we have to do is wait & see.
I also noticed just yesterday in one 2nd hand site here in HK all the HD'2 where sold & at least 10 more people where looking for one.

I'm a NAND user on a LEO1024. Since Ubuntu phone will support android kernels and the drivers it will be quite simple to get the required files from tytung's repo and merge it into the OS.

A very interesting project! My HD2 is looking forward!
I think it will be fun.
would be good as an excercise, i suppose. as long as the support is there.
why would it be better than android?
in my experience with ubuntu on my laptop, anything i try to do always seems end up typing long lines of code in a terminal window
as someone once said "linux is free if your time is worthless"
been developing with the new SDK & its a freakin beast ! .....i eat ...sleep ...poop ..Ubuntu ...its so much fun
Ubuntu Phone OS is going to rule ....its just so awesome !
