Today, Cannonical has announcement a version Ubuntu for phones. They can found more info here: http://www.ubuntu.com/devices/phone
The requesites are very similar to HD2. Will be posible portable to it?
hope so...
Sorry for my bad English. I just reading that link. Some of my friend say that the Ubuntu OS is base on Android Kernel so we totally can port it to our HD2 but the rom running on Galaxy Nexus just a demo rom that mean the need a lot of time to config. Ubuntu OS is currently in the development stage and finishing, according to the source before we have to wait until 2014. I think that time is too long for our HD2.
^
well you never can say, there are a lot of Dev's here that are even miles ahead of those manufacturers/ phone companies, all we have to do is wait & see.
I also noticed just yesterday in one 2nd hand site here in HK all the HD'2 where sold & at least 10 more people where looking for one.

I'm a NAND user on a LEO1024. Since Ubuntu phone will support android kernels and the drivers it will be quite simple to get the required files from tytung's repo and merge it into the OS.
As soon as it's released or leaked there will be a race for "FIRST"

I assure you there will not be and if you want it, you will have probably to do it yourself. It's not android, nobody wants that... yet.
Challenge accepted!

To be the first would be awesome. I'm ready for it
i am waiting for that
please release it fo hd2
A very interesting project! My HD2 is looking forward!
I think it will be fun.
would be good as an excercise, i suppose. as long as the support is there.
why would it be better than android?
in my experience with ubuntu on my laptop, anything i try to do always seems end up typing long lines of code in a terminal window
as someone once said "linux is free if your time is worthless"
been developing with the new SDK & its a freakin beast ! .....i eat ...sleep ...poop ..Ubuntu ...its so much fun
Ubuntu Phone OS is going to rule ....its just so awesome !

I really doubt that is Windows 7 (unrelated : isn't it weird how the desktop version and the mobile version now have the same name? )
And after reading the comments on the other thread I seriously doubt that wm7 will be released this year:
1) they're still working on wm6.5
2) releasing wm7 so close after wm6.5 would be ummm....counterproductive?
Until we find something on the internet really identifying it as WM7, I'm a skeptic.
microsoft has already said that wm7 wont be out till next year (prob march/april) its only developers that get it in november i think
Yes, actually that does look like WM7. A while ago a large number of concept screen shots came out. The credibility of those screen shot and the story behind it could be debated. But IMO sure evidence came in the form that in a MS live mesh commercial there was a brief shot of an HTC touch running the exact UI that was leaked. This looks like that interface with a few tweaks/improvements. I am trying to find that original story.
*edit* not the story I was talking about but all the shots were like this one:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/blinx_182/3265548956/
*edit 2*
The first two pics are from the live mesh commercial. Note, WM7 is not really running on his device. They are screen shots. I was fooled at first. lol.
http://www.flickr.com/photos/blinx_182/
Here it is. The full story. Not the original site I saw it on but looks like the same pictures and text.
http://www.zakeh.com/2008/01/07/windows-mobile-7-details-leak-cool/
That UI was found on a WM device in a MS commercial. Evidence enough to me that at least at some point this is the direction MS was going. And I like it.
I think wm7 will change alot over the next year as they get feedback and see what every one else does.
This might be early code but still about 6 months till developers get it then another 5 months of changing as they get feedback from developer
My guess is no. Hell no.
It looks a bit crap, not to mention VGA (why would MS be developing a 2010 mobile OS in VGA?). I'm very sceptical.

Zune was supposed to be in 6.5. They skimped on us.
I currently have a Nexus One and will not be replacing it.
what im hoping to find out is what is the best tinker phone around.
im thinking the HD2 is for me because it can run windows 6.5,hope soon to have windows 7 , android, meego, ubuntu and who knows what else.
so what do you think? what is your tinker toy (phone).
My Currnet Tinker toy dont laugh at me but its a Motorola Backflip running 2.1.
I think the HD2 is a good choice, you definitely can play with it a lot, I had one before getting a Nexus but I preferred just having a stable build rather than having to continuously update and find a good build with the HD2.

The HD2 can run Windows Phone 7? I thought like one video was released and a public build was never posted?

like i said in my other post, i've been running consumer and it has no time limit. if they had a limit, im sure they would of posted it. last time i saw a time limit was on old server beta's.
there has always been time limits
http://social.technet.microsoft.com.../thread/910238eb-89dc-4d9b-87b0-e19f2aefe90a/
usually about a year
Win 8 will be no different
and what is the point in using the DP or CP still?
the whole point of the beta program is for MS to get feedback on is new OS so it can improve upon it, its not so you can have a free joy ride of its new OS, an OS that can dramatically change between the various releases.
Honestly, I really think MS should vet the people that download the betas, if they don't contribute then it explodes

The developer preview expires on the 15th of the January 2013 unfortunately. Better off going for the release preview as they both expire at the same time.

I read this on Engadget, I take my hat off to the devs.
Remember when we got WP7, going through the whole mission of getting it activated. Getting Ubuntu to fully boot for the first time, getting ICS before anyone in the world (albeit nothing at all worked apart from it turned on for 30secs has hardware buttons didnt work).
The devs here are just from another world! Thank you all for the work you have done for this device (when I had it and for the people who are still running it!)
Too bad the Metro Apps won't run on this because of the screen resolution requirement. or do they?
HD2 will never die, thanks to Cotulla and other devs who are really put all their knowledge to save this device from forgetting...
Hope to see RT soon on my phone too

Right, but if somebody could hack the software it could be run even if the resolution is too small as Cotulla said.
Let`s wait and see
i hope works like wp 7.5 soon
This is truly the little phone that could. After 3 years, I still love my HD2
This phone is the best ever!!! I can't stop flashing all the different roms ^_^
Yeah. Hd2 never dies..

Hello EveryOne ... I Don't Like To Give Bad Feelings But I Think DFT Has Left Our HD2 ( As Cotulla Said ) So No Matters Having The RT Boot Or Not Because I Don't Think Cotulla Would Release The UEFI Magldr ... I Think Its Bad To Look After Cotulla For Releases ... I Think If The Masters Make A Big Team And Work On a New Boot Loader It Would Be Also Better Than Cotulla ... Then We Can Change It Into What We Like ... Like Open Source Bootloaders ... Then We Would Get More Often And Also More ROMs And The Newer Ones ... Like Sense 5 , RT , WPH 8 , Ubuntu , MeeGo , ... I Would Be Glad To Know About Others Ideas ...
With Best Wishes

Have we done it before? I joined this month so I have no clue that it has been tried already
That is not going to happen, it's not that easy and remember, it's not Motorola anymore, it's lenovo.
If they decide to do it, that would be a mess at the time to get the update. I am pretty sure we needed to make a full wipe. It wouldn't be just an update, it would be installing a new system from scratch and that's not something a lot of people would like to do, including myself.
I haven't had any problem with the device running a 32bit system and I am pretty sure I won't.
I would like to get Google Cam just for HDR+ but it's not a big deal and I can live without it.
We have an amazing dev team for the device so there is nothing we are missing for having a 32bit system.

Yes... There have been several threads here since this device first released whining about it being 32-bit, wanting to pressure Lenovo about making a 64-bit version, comparing the difference between the 32/64 bit world's, etc.
Simple answer, it's 32-bit... It's going to stay to that way, live with it.
