Hey all! I just updated from 2.3.4 on my Atrix 4G to 2.3.6 with a build number of 4.5.141 and I was rooted before the update, for safety I unrooted and now I'm wondering if there is a newer version of pete's Motorola root that I can use to re-root my phone! I miss my root apps!
Thanks
Tanner
Preinstall method works.

You can download the full 2.3.3 rom here and it should be completely unrooted. Just flash it through CWM.
Thanks a lot
Hello,
Does it works ?
Do you have recovered your Nexus S without superuser function as it was first ?
If it's possible, where can i find the orginal build 2.3.2, i have only a link for 2.3.3 ?
Thanks.
Is it possible to root the official Desire HD OTA build?
Im almost certain that it isnt. If you want to root your phone you will need to downgrade first: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003

your best bet and least complicated while being most efficient would be CF root----http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
Hi, I´m looking for an easy way to root that phone like z4root or something like this. So I tried to root with Gingerbreak but the phone is still unrooted. Anyone knows if Gingerbreak will be developped to work with DBT 2.3.3 version, PDA: I9000XWJVI, PHONE: I9000XXJVO?
Gingerbreak and Z4root got patched by Google. Currently there is no way to obtain root without a custom kernel.

OK, then, for the time being, I have to use CF Root and also change the custom kernel. And that´s what makes me feel uneasy regarding the matter when Samsung is offering i.e. GB 2.3.4 via Kies officially will I also get the new version via Kies officially or do i have to flash then via Odin?
I've seen a few questions on the forum asking how to root a 2.3.6 SGS2.
DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit was a very easy way to root, without having to flash insecure kernels and all of that, and was great if the goal was just a rooted stock device. It was perfect for me, as all I wanted was AdFree, Titanium and OpenVPN on my device.
Unfortunately, the exploit the Easy Rooting Toolkit used seems to have been fixed in the SGS2 2.3.6 firmware and the toolkit doesn't work any more (see, for example, here).
Before I upgraded from 2.3.4 I prepared myself to mess around with ODIN to get root back after upgrading.
Imagine my delight after upgrading (via OTA), that I still had root without doing anything at all!
So it looks as if upgrading a rooted 2.3.4 stock firmware to 2.3.6 results in a rooted stock 2.3.6 firmware (for I9100XWLA4, at least).
Which means that the easiest way to get to a rooted stock 2.3.6 SGS2 is to root it using DooMLoRD's toolkit before upgrading.
Sorry if this is obvious and, if not, hope someone finds it useful.

not everyone can update or have the option to update OTA!
whats so hard about using ODIN to update then flash CF-ROOT?!
Hi
Nice to hear - I'm on 2.3.5 Nordic and expect an 2.3.6 update before ICS arrives
But also a bit strange that you keept ROOT!
Other attempts using zergRush Exploit on 2.3.6 have failed as far as I know.
Could it have to do with the fact that you updated through OTA and not KIES?

OTAs just replace things that changed - KIES does what is effectively a full Odin flash.
Hi,
i've got a new Razr M, which has from factory this version of system:
98.30.1.xt907.verizon.en.us
build: 9.8.1q-94
I think about if it's possible to make towel root on this version of system, unlock bootloader with motocalypse and then flash TWRP and then CyanogenMod 11, last M8 build which is for JB.
Or it is not possible in this version of system and only way it's take OTA and then root, unlock bootloader and then Cyanogen for KK?
Thanks very much for answers.
If you want to unlock your bootloader, you'll need to update to KitKat first. Then you can apply towelroot and Motopocalypse.
Ok, thanks, as i read somewhere, there this towel root is possible on all version of Android before 4.6. But i wasnt sure about unlock bootloader.
Thanks for reply.
Flash the official Kit Kat ROM first, then hit it with Towel Root and finally use Motopocalypse app. After that, the Fastboot utility in the bootloader will indicate Status 3 or if you just boot straight back to the OS, you will be greeted by the teal warning splash screen telling you that you have effectively destroyed the warranty by unlocking the bootloader.

This is so awesome !!!
I have 2 Razr M now unlocked =)
Not the most powerful phone but The best in size and usability =)
KK Update
Has the update been patched or is it still OK to OTA? Still running 4.1.2 (9.8.1Q-78-1)?
The reason I have never heard about any updates is I have had Motorola services disabled!
Kk update can be rooted and unlocked

Yes. Android 4.4 Kit Kat update can be unlocked. I unlocked mine.

Also, it is worth a note, Towel Root WILL work with previous firmware versions, however, Motopocalypse doesn't work on all versions.
This. Kit Kat update is the only version the Motopocalypse works on.

Pouring my first beer!
Can't thank enough for the help, successfully upgraded, rooted, and unlocked. Got hung up on rsd lite, had to edit xml for firmware. Other than that, smooth sailing and the beer at the party is still ice cold.
Cheers!
