I don't think there should be a 'HTC' screen when you're booting into bootloader? I'm not sure, but just try holding down both the power button and the volume down button, as I think people have been able to restart the process after their phone has run out of battery or something similar. Hopefully everything should be OK once you've managed to access the bootloader.
Oh, and I don't mean to be rude, but use a better PC next time
phone wont go into bootloader , phone just turn on NORMALLY , but while there is no system at all on his memory he just stuck at HTC (green) on white background !
im suspecting that my VOLUME DOWN button is broken ?
Have you tried the back key?
power (end call) + back key ?
If you have magldr installed it should bring you to magldr menu which would point towards faulty vol down button ....

If I remembered correctly, some of the people mentioned that HD2 is quite difficult to brick. I think that you could still try to work with your phone unless you still suspect that you have a faulty volume down button. I noticed in your statement in Step 2 coloured red that you press the end key once. I haven't flash in a while but I think you should hold the end key with the volume down button until you get into bootloader mode (screen with tri colour). Don't just press the key once. I hope this helps.

I am sorry, but I think you may have bricked your device.
Sure thing, the european HD2 is quite difficult to brick. But your PC had frozen while you were in the middle of flashing. (right?)
It is like pulling out the USB cable while flashing. You can try flashing from sdcard. Are you sure you are not able to go into bootloader?
To get to bootloader press and hold vol down button and then press the power (end call) button. I do a lot of flashing lol
lol...i just noticed the threadstarter's point of saying he pressed the power key "once". So i thought that was a mistake. Could be surely from the faulty volume button. Don't see any reply yet from him.

I've done it before, but for some reason it's not working so i dont think im doing it right.
4. Turn off the phone
5. remove and reinsert the phone battery.
6. Press and hold first the volume button on the phone and then the power button. Keep pressing the buttons down.
7. Continue holding the two buttons down until the colored stripes are visible on the phones display.
Thing is, the coloured stripes just arent showing. I dont know what I'm doing wrong
isn't youre volume button broken. i had this same problem with a friend of mine. i tried a couple times at last it worked.
u are using the voulme DOWN button right.. not the volume UP button?
i think it makes a diff... but i haven't tried both..

Use it under windows xp, not with vista.
On a vista pc it will not work by me, under xp it's like the firebrigade
Volume down
You must use volume down button and power buton pressed the the colour stripes will come on the display.
try taking your sim card out and microsd card if you have got one and then it might work.
Hi, I am having problems getting my X2 into boot mode in order to update the firmware to MR1- I've followed the instructions on SE Update Service (press and hold volume down button and power button until white screen appears)
All that happens is the vibration feedback to indicate power on, then the phone loads up as normal with the logo in a black background???? anyone else come across this?
help me X2
hi all fri
i had one sony x2 ,but have some problem !can you tell me how to enter undate mode !and X2 chinese rom! thanks
do you press and HOLD both buttons till the desired screen appears? Should not release Power button before the screen emerges..
Yes I did, It's just loads up as normal, I have the xperia x1 so I'm not new to this devices, anyone experienced this before?
Are you sure that you are doing it exactly like this:
1. Remove and re-insert battery.
2. Press AND HOLD the volume down button.
3. Press AND HOLD the power button at the same time.
Hold the two buttons (and no other buttons) until logo on white background appears.
The order is important, first the volume down button - keep pressed, then the power button - keep both pressed.
The most important thing that many people miss is...
You must NOT have the USB cable plugged in when you do this. Only plug the phone in after the white screen appears.
This is not my first xperia as I still have the x1, so I do know what I'm doing, the phone boots up as normal (sony ericsson logo with the 'black' background) unlike the x1 with the tricolor screen. Is there anyother way to enter the bootloader or reset the whole ROM? someone please help as I can't update my phone and spony ericssonwon't do anything about it because it hasn't been officially released in the UK :S
i have the same issue tryed every thing (volume down + power =nothing. volume down + power +soft reset button= nothing. look in the registry found nothing relevant to bootloader )i think bootloder got messed up or something. is there a folder or something containing the bootloder

Exactly the same problem
same here, very frustrated, need my phone back to factory settings! any1 help please???
It's important that you normally turn off the phone before getting out the battery or it will reboot normally when the battery is inserted.
X2 DEAD
I also have the same problem as my device does not turn on nor k is functioning BOOTLOADER MODE.
only once beats vibrating k after the computer sees an unknown device.
I left my phone in few mobile services, nobody did any good to it - same problem still left. Last chance will be SE service.
do u find solution to repair your x2

To get back into factory-defaults, then use the Phone reset found under Settings->System. That will re-install everything.
Hi!
I've flashed my phone quite a few times and now I can't get pass the tri color boot up screen. It all started when I started to use task29 for my flashing. Wasn't the first time I used it but the last time I did the phone just ended up with (what it seems like no rom). When I press the power button the phone loads the tri color screen saying serial or USB (if USB connected) I've tried to reflash with both SD-card and USB but it ends up the same way. Flashing reaches 100% (tried stock rom and others) but when booting up it still goes to the tri color screen.
Using SPL 1.56 OliNex.
Hopefully somewould knows what to do. Big thanks!
looks to me like your volume down button may be stuck in, see if it is and what happens after that
Hi. Well the volume button is stuck but it usually works by pressing the power button a couple of sec. now that doesn't work

then you need to unstick the button, it will never boot properly otherwise.

Hi Jeff.
Make sure that the phone is fully powered-off first, and not just in standby mode. Then hold the VOL- button down first, then hold down the POWER button. Make sure you keep holding the buttons without letting go. It could take up to 10 seconds, but should happen quickly.
If that doesn't work, try going into Recovery mode. Power the phone off completely, then hold HOME and POWER.
Let me know how that works.
Hi!
I have an Htc Hd2 and years ago i saw the DFT Nand android, and i installed it... The HSPL, the aMAGLDR... I installed the android using the aMAGLDR usb flasher... Some months ago the screen had to be replaced, i did it myself and after that i decided to install the Windows Mobile 6.5, the original rom but... To install the WM6.5 i have to do volume down + power, to go to that color screen and when it says usb just run the rom.. the problem is that when i press volume down + power the color screen does not show, it just goes to the aMAGLDR.. I checked my volume rockers and they work fine...
And with the android rom installed i can not reinstall the HSPL.
please, help me.
just hold volume down and plug usb while holding it (or to charger) and bootloader should appear

Hi, Gilbert32!
Thank you for your reply but unfortunately didn't help. That colorful screen still doesn't show up.
I don't know if it is related but, my screen had to be replaced, i did it myself and i can't get the colorful screen anymore since then...
My phone buttons are all working fine and the volume rockers are good too... I don't know what happened!
Any other sugestion would be welcomed.
and thank you.
and sorry for my english... I am from Portugal!
well, try holding volume down and just press power button, like if you'r going to lock the screen. only a simple press, no need to keep holding the power button

Once again, thank you for your time!
I've tried that before and tried it now again and it just does the same thing.. it's like i don't press the volume down, it just loads the android rom... and if i hold the power button with the volume down it goes to the MAGLDR, where is the "usb flasher" and the other options..
whatever i do holding the volume down it's like i'm not holding it, it's like it doesn't work.. but in the rom itself i can up and down the volume and in the MAGLDR i can go up and down through the options with no problem.. so i guess there is no problem with my volume controller.
thank you!
