[Q] CM9 For Transformer - Eee Pad Transformer General

How about some CM loving for the Transformer i would build it myself if i had any coding skills but i dont..
I have used CM on more or less every other android unit i have owned including my prvious Tab the Folio 100 where it totaly saved the buy. Its stable fast and clean and i love the Trebuchet launcher.

Check the dev forum, there's an unofficial CM9 that you can flash now. It's not without the odd bug (like all ICS stuff atm) but apparently very useable:

[Q] CM10 is it worth to install?

Hello,
I want to ask you just like it's mentioned in the thread title, is CM10 worth to install right now? Are the differences big between CM9 and CM10?
I am currently on CM9 latest nightly from Epsylon. And whose CM10 is better for now? Epsylon's or Quarx's?
Thanks in advance for answering...
Hi there,
Yes the current CM10 is quite stable and very usable.
The biggest attraction to CM10 is how smooth it is over the current CM9 - Installing Apex Launcher makes it even better.
The new features that were introduced as part of JB are all there and functioning .. eg. two finger swipe and Project Butter.
The JB default browser is the best and responsive browser I have ever used .. flick-scrolls through heavy pages effortlessly ..
I am using the Froyo based build right now though I have a Red lens defy.
Personally I couldnt last on CM9 for more than a day before switching back to MIUI ..
but now i'm hooked on the CM10 and even the dev are focussing all their attention on it..
in short -- most definitely worth the Install
About JB - Only basic things are functioning properly. But, if you ask me, i am using it as my daily ROM, as i use my defy as a phone
About ICS - Its almost fully functional, you won't feel like changing ROM after using it.
Thanks a lot guys. Downloading CM10 then...
I will wait a few more weeks so it's more stable. Satisfied with CM9 right now. (I'm always using Quarx' builds, Defy+)
title
i am using it as my daily ROM,it's developing very fast, but not stable as cm9
Yeah, it's not so stable as CM9, and honestly, not so fast. Epsylon's CM9 was really really fast. CM10 is in my opinion something biggest which our phone can't hold on.
After installing all my applications which I am using there is only about 50MB free ram. After one day of using there is even less and phone needs to be restarted because of hard lags in launcher.
I am going back to CM9, differences are not so big. But I'll miss the notification bar.

Asus Transformer TF101 4.1.1 (JellyBean) ROM Feature Comparison

I saw this thread over at the Galaxy Nexus forums, and since I figured more people than just me might want to know more about the different ROMs, I thought it was worrth a thread here as well.
What I'm interested is a quick reference thread for the various Jellybean ROMs. Run by who, what's the aim, etc. Basically a quick reference guide to assist people (like me) decide which ROM fits my needs.
So far, these are the Jellybean builds that I know about for the TF101:
Team EOS 3 Jellybean nightlies
RaymanFX's 4.1.1 AOSP builds
CM10 preview edition
JellyBro (CM10 kang)
AOKP KANG
Let me know if you see anyone missing.
It would be nice for each ROM to have a a post which lists its key features:
Aim of the ROM. Tweaks, Stability, Speed, AOSP-like cleanness, etc
State. In active development, experimental, mature, stable, abondoned, etc.
ROM base, if any. Based on AOSP, AOKP, CM, etc.
Release-type/frequency: Nightly, interval, fixed releases, etc.
Non-stock/AOSP features. Swag, Toggles, Theming, OCing, etc.
Basically enough info to assist making a decision, without aiming for pages and pages of stuff which noone will ever bother to write (or read). See this post for an example of what I'm thinking about.
Feel free to recommend a non-default kernel for the ROM, but the focus should be on what the ROM itself offers out of the box.
Sounds good? Anyone wants to give it a go?
User summaries of the various ROMs.
I'm not guaranteeing that I will be able/willing to include all reviews here. If things get out of hand, I will edit this post to indicate so.
Team EOS 3 Jellybean nightlies:
2012.08.02: josteink
2012.08.02: fone_fanatic
RaymanFX's 4.1.1 AOSP builds:
None
CM10 preview edition:
None
JellyBro (CM10 kang):
None
AOKP KANG:
2012.08.02: K900
I've been meaning to make a thread like this, but I still have yet to find the time.
I read through all the JB threads about a week ago and Team Eos seemed to have the least amount of bugs so I chose it over the other options.
I'll start off by saying I've been using it daily since build #53 [2012-07-24] and I'm currently on build #54.
That said, here's what I've noticed so far:
Speaker volume is a bit low.
When using the HDMI out cable, sound plays via TF101 speakers, not TV speakers.
Video effects (Silly Faces) in Camera cause camera to crash.
GPS doesn't work.
Other than that, it's a very stable rom and working great. Dock functions 100%. Very responsive, stable and fast.
Also I'm using Guevor's JB Kernel 693. I just noticed 696 was released yesterday, so flashing that now .
Feel free to ask any questions about the rom. Maybe some time next week I can flash all the JB kernels out there and put them through their paces .
Note this rom is a GREAT daily driver, unless you really need GPS or use HDMI out very often, I highly recommend it.
I'm also running Team EOS nightlies and I'm very happy with it.
Here's my quick summary:
ROM: Team EOS nightlies
Non-stock/AOSP features.. Notification toggles. Overclocking. (Themes added in build #55?)
Aim...................... Stability
ROM base................. Team EOS
State.................... In active development
Release-type............. Nightly
Build(s) tested.......... 2012.07.23 to current (2012.08.01). With and without dock.
Not working / problems:
Audio generally low. (Seems to be a general JB problem across devices?)
HDMI audio out
Have encountered 2 sleeps of death while using it for around 2 weeks.
Everything else seems to be working.
My only complaint so far is lack of a status-bar battery-widget for the dock, like you have in Megatron (ICS). But I don't think any other of the JB ROMs available has that one either.
Great idea!
Will keep this thread under close observation :good:

Check out Dual Battery Widget from the play store. It has an option for having the dock battery level show in the status bar.
Also I'd like to add I haven't had a single SOD on Team Eos nightlies (been on since #53). But I have had a few reboots, all but 1 have occurred while not using the tablet.

Using RaymanFX's 4.1.1 JB
Hi guys, thought I'd share this info. I'm using RaymanFX's ROM and overall it's running well. My only issue so far is that Google Now crashes right after launching. It was working before I started adding new apps, so I'm guessing there is a conflict with another app. Unfortunately I don't know which one it is. I'm guessing maybe gmail, Google maps, or Google +. I haven't tested the HDMI or used in the dock yet but WiFi and graphics seem good. The ROM itself is extremely lean, no bloat to speak of.
I had to flash the ROM a second time to get it working but it's possible that I goofed it up the first time because it does take a bit to do the initial boot and I was getting impatient and thought it locked up and rebooted.
I'll probably try the EOS ROM next.
Nonek said:
Team EOS nigthly.. Rayman has not updated this one in awhile and has been working on other projects. I'm not sure actually how good CM10 is, but I've run both this and TeamEOS and I changed to a TeamEOS / KAT 1.14 (now) combo and I have never looked back.. TeamEOS has the most fleshed out version of JB in my humble opinion.

If just install the rom 0.7 from raymanfx. The first time from me i root my tf101 !
It work great, some small functionnality are missing on the keyboard but it gives a second life to our baby.

Yep, I' using 0.7 from Raymanfx also. Its great to have the mutli-user support, but I think it comes with significant overhead and I'm not sure the TF101 can handle this.... still testing and will keep everyone informed.

SOD solved using TegraOwner rev 170

Hi all,
Just a short post to share my experience with ICS.
I moved from HC (Taboonay 3.0) to ICS and install Re-Flexxx ROM. Beautifull ROM but face quickly my first SOD. Discover wakelock application that help to avoid the SOD by the battery life was shortened.
I try differents bootloader, try to wipe all (data/caches...) try to format partitions, try a lot of different kernels , look through last_kmsg log with the hope to find some root cause but never succeed to solve the SOD issue.
I move then to Taboonay 3.2b4 ROM hoping the SOD was ROM dependant but face the same SOD problem.
I was on the way to revert to HC bootloader but decide to try one more ROM not available on XDA: TegraOwner ROM v170. I'm running this ROM since 2 days and did not face any more SOD.
My 2 cents for thoses in the same situation than my with their A500 tab.
Bye
MY "5" cents worth...
Please, in the future, remember that post's like this belong in the "General" forum.

I can confirm that TegraOwnera ROM rocks. Gave it a try yesterday and immediately forgot about any Acer update matter. In a couple of days(maybe hours) they'll release JB which i think will be as good as ICS.
So I advice you all forgotting about official update and install ICS mod which is even better than the official would ever be.

If you think that's good, run aokp ICS or jb, or even cyanogenmod they are the biggest and best out there, and there ROMs come with some many extra features to where you can customize literally just about any detail, from colors to layout design, to integrated settings with features like nova launcher. (Controlling animation effects, changing my desktop to look like a cube went switching desktops, and more)
If you have not ran aokp, or cyanogenmod ICS then no wonder you think tegraowners is the best
Acer stock, is well stock.
tegraowners is tweaked.
aok/cm is tweaked, and have sh** tons more features, like changing themes, changing design, CPU control, UI control, ect...
Maybe tegraowners ROM could be as good if they had a team of hundred programmers with the goal of improving android, and adding additional features.
That's why those ROMs are better than tegraowners will ever be, anyone who has tried cm/aokp can tell you.
By the way the jellybean ROM here is a lot better than ICS,.... not just as good.
And by the way there is already a 99% working cyanogenmod 10 jelly bean ROM here, it just doesn't have all the features cyanogenmod usually have integrated with it yet. Reason people don't like tegraowners is because he keeps his source closed, why hide something if you have nothing to hide? People worry that in his code he can be tracking every little thing you do, even everything you type. Not saying he does, we just don't know that he doesn't, because its closed source. Either way aokp or cyanogenmod are the best ROMs out there with tons of features tegraowners does not have. That's why if you Google it those roms are the biggest and best.

I've yet to run AOKP (I'm a bit of a cyanogenmod fanboy) but the TO rom is CM9 based.
Simply put, lifeofcoding doesn't know what he's talking about. The TO rom isn't tweaked, it was built from the ground up WAY before there was any official ICS, then it was merged with CM9 sources.

OK so TO does not have a tweaked kernel? Not tweaked for over clocked, or faster benchmark? Thought so.
I know what I'm talking about trust me, I am a programmer for a living.
Oh, he built it from the grown up before there was official ICS?
He didn't just start creating his own original clone of ICS...
ICS was leaked online before the official release, so just like every developer here, they got ahold of the leaked ICS which gave the community lots of ICS roms before Acer even official released it.
He customized heavily, and yes some of it is his original code, but it is based on the ICS leak originally... so do some research, educate yourself.
He also maybe using the cyanogen device tree, but does not have there features, not all of them anyways.

Oh no problem man, I'm not sure if 501 has an official forum yet, but most ROMs will work for 501 if they are for a500 just won't have 3g unless they add support for it, a lot of developers here will make versions for it sometimes.
Trust me man, you will want to look into aokp (android open kang project) which is my personal favorite, which is similar to cyanogenmod, and if i am not mistaken aokp uses some of the CM source. Try googling "aoko features" or better yet, maybe find a list of features it has, or better yet watch a in depth review on YouTube... there is so many extra features I can't even begin to start to name them, for one you can change the design and colors of everything in notifications and task bar.. change transition effects in the apps menu and desktop (like nova launcher, except a lot of times it is integrated) change themes, change layouts, toggle which options you want to show in notification menu, to changing small details of how the icons look like, and add or remove options in it... there is performance where you can change governor and CPU speeds, pretty much it goes in depth if customization, say when I want to scroll through desktops it looks like I'm spinning a cube, or other effects.. you can pretty much change the color, design and layout of everything, add music to boot animations and much more, trust me man you may love it, or you may feel that TO ROM is more for you.
Anyways check out some YouTube videos of aokp, you will see what im talking about

I have v170 on my tablet right now, so let me clear some things up for you about what features it does and doesn't have. What it does have? All of the CM9 features, every last one. All of the home screen animations (cube, stack, etc), all of the drawer options (fade side pages, transitions, merge with widgets, etc), all of the theme and lock screen options, all of the system options (top status bar, inverted status bar, power widgets, quick launches), hell it even has the dock options in case you decide to run a launcher that isn't trebuchet. Its CM9, I don't know why you would think it doesn't. He even uses the CM9 boot animation and in settings, clear as day "CyanogenMod version" and "Tegraowners ICS ROM v170 (thor & digetx)".
As for the Acer ICS leak, the Tegraowners rom was on v96 when the leak came out, all that wasn't working was the camera. It was 100% built from the ground up. I don't give a damn if you're a programmer or not, that doesn't change that thor had built a 99% functional ICS before we got the leak. If thor had the leak from v1 like you're trying to claim, he wouldn't have had "waiting on Acer ICS HAL" next to camera on the to do list until after v96, he would have straight up had working camera. He didn't modify the leak or stock rom, he built from source. AOSP. Android Open Source Project. It is possible to build it from scratch you know.
And his kernel isn't tweaked either, just like his entire rom, he made it from scratch. Its not a tweaked Acer kernel, its his own. Thats why his work isn't allowed to be linked to here, he won't share what he built. Don't tell me to educate myself when you don't know a damn thing about thors CM9, a rom people have been running longer than the Acer leak existed.

This fixed my sleep of death issue completely, it's been three days, totally stable!
@nifterific, you were faster I wanted to write exactly everything you wrote about functions. Great post!
@lifeofcoding, you know, it's all about 3G support. There are so many ROMs for A500, and I'm sure they're really good, but the worst thing for A501 owner is that they don't support internal 3G. Now I think I could count all A501 ICS ROMs using fingers from one hand: Evil Alex which is almost as Acer official, bugged Acer leak 021 and awesome TegraOwners. And when Thor will release JB for A501, then there will be really no alternative. As long as CM10 will not support 3G.

[REQUEST] Light-weight ICS Rom

I see all these ROMs in the subsection for them and I can't find a single one that's actually decent. Since CM9 development has ceased and Pershoot isn't releasing any JB roms (since the 16th) there's really no decent, stable, lightweight ICS option that I can find for our tablets.
Requests:
Lightweight
3.0+ Kernel
ICS
P4/P7500 support
Am I missing a specific build? I've tried like 4 or 5 of them and they always turn out to be slow and unresponsive or they don't support the P4/P7500 so I can't get 3G connectivity. The 3.0+ kernel works amazingly well with Chrome and has a lot of enhancements for Android in general.

well, I am not sure what's your are looking or asking, but I can tell that I am on AOSP JB Alpha, and quite happy with performance, its smoothness, only thing so far front camera does not works, but it is matter of time developer get fix that. CM10 is identical to AOSP JB Alpha. In fact, why they call Alpha no idea, in my opinion it should be called beta. In my experience, I got OTA update from Samsung for ICS 4 (USA stock firmware I am referring), I said finally Samsung!, but after several days playing with it, I realized it is becoming slow and laggy, so i backed up everything and gave a try to MapleSyrup's [ROM][JB][AOSP][ALPHA] Android 4.1.1 - Jelly Bean - [GT-P7510][SCH-I905].

Which Jelly Bean ROM you have on your Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wifi?

I believe there are three major JB ROMs development going on as far as I can see. Some JB ROMs have more issue than others, some does not. And we are so grateful for these developers taking time and giving us these ROMs. and we should encourage them more, so please donate and say THANK YOU.:good:
and now, I am dead curious who's using which JB ROMs and their feedback, what they run into, issues, suggestions etc.
if anyone gives their feedback here, this would be wonderful for average users who's looking around and trying to figure out each of these JB ROMs.
Looking forward your valuable responses!

First of all, the first link is an ICS ROM not JellyBean.
With that out of the way, both CM10 and AOSP are running the same kernel so you will not see much difference in performance. CM10 with have more features then AOSP will have because AOSP is a "pure" experience from Google source.
It depends on your preference but I like CM10.

Rear Camera works at the moment for AOSP and CM10. That is why I said the kernel is the same. Right now, pershoot is working on getting CM9 to RC status and then will be working on fixing the front camera and other fixes.
Full charged to dead

I'm using CM10 and facing problem like original 3.1 ROM that I let it charging over night and the tab dead could not re-star again .I have to open the back cover removed the batteries socket and put it back and can star again ,is happened to me 3 times .
And other problem is Google play not working properly many time I put the install button but it not response .Almost other works perfect.
I'm using CM 10 and have been for about a week now.
Very nice!
My thanks to all the geniuses that made that possible!
I am, however, considering replacing it with a ROM that allows Flash. Unless I can find a way to get Flash working. Amazon Instant Video runs on Flash, which makes me wonder what they are going to do when the Fire upgrades to JB...
I don't use the tablet much, as my GNexus (also running CM10) does all I really need to do, but I do use it for videos and games.
Can I get any recommendations on whether I should switch to something like Galaxy Task, or just go back to ICS?

I downloaded Flash directly from Adobe's site as they pulled out from Play store. I was looking for it, and then read couple of posts, and they said download it directly from adobe. I am attaching Flash apk file here that worked for AOSP ROM that I have on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 wifi (GT-P7510). It is a bit laggy, but it works. Chrome browser has some issue with it too, in fact on Google Nexus 7 has the same thing, so believe it is generic Google JB thingy.
I flashed with AOSP ROM on my galaxy tab (GT-P7510 wifi), and have been using for several days. I was planing to go back to original stick ICS (USA), but decided to not to because it made my galaxy tab (GT-P7510 wifi) very fast, and buttery smooth! it is almost feel like I got 'new' tablet. Even my wife, when she picked my tablet first time after I flashed, said Wow what did you do!? (she has new iPad!). Anyway, so far did not notice any issue (other than we all know front cam does not work), but again I have not done any heavy testing or heavy games yet on it.
I picked AOSP ROM over CM10, because I like pure Google JB experience (like my new Google Nexus 7!). I am closely monitoring the developer threads for any new update. I know they demonstrated working front cam, but it seems like it breaks other part, so I am sure it will be get fixed soon
I've been using CM10 since MapleSyrup started it and continued with pershoot taking over. I really like how nicely it works and the good outweighs the few times for the wifi dropping out or the sod after charging. pretty easy/fast to just reboot so it doesn't matter too much.

Well, I have HP Touchpad with WebOS and Android CM9 installed. Even if there are several issues on TouchPad using CM9, I can still live with it, after all I switch from WebOS to Android to play some games, so considering simple reboot or turn on airplane mode on and off to fix Wifi dropping issue is not really deal breaker for me. It is the JB's smoothness and how fast it is what really attracts me the most.
