I noticed many people who keep asking which rom is the best for battery life, etc....I'm sure that I am not alone in this, when I say that its really annoying. So to solve that problem. I've created this thread :]
I am really sorry for not including many other roms. I only picked on the roms which were at the top 2 pages in the original android dev and the android dev.
Again, I'm really sorry, but as I told another person, you are still more than welcome to talk about it and tell us why you chose that rom
Instructions:
1. Post your rom name.
2. Post which kernel you are using.
3. Why you like it
Optional:
1. What theme you are using.
2. Case
I'll start the thread off:
I'm using CheckROM RevoHD™ V6.
I am using the SpeedMod SGS2 [K2-21 kernel.
I like this rom because of the stability and the battery life. I also really love the kitchen which gives you the endless amount of flexibility to customize your rom the way you want to!
I am using the Ice Cream Sandwich Domination 2.0.3 Godlike!
I am using the SUPERGETS case which I purchased from AmazonUK for £1.70.
PS: Anybody who has a problem with this thread being here can leave right now. I never asked to click on this thread, did I now? (This message is to the people who created the "useless" tags..)
Why don't you have stock rom option?
I'm using stock XXKH3 because it does not restart my phone when on wifi (unlike KL1, KL3, haven't had time and patience to try others). It's stable ant that's what I need.
For kernel, I chose Syah v2.6.12 because of undervolting/underclocking abilities and I run [email protected] UV with battery (2000MAh) lasting for 4 days (and nights) with some light usage.
On top of that I've got GoLauncher for easier customization.

Really sorry about the stock not being on the list. But you can still talk about it. And if you don't mind me saying...That is amazing battery life I get through the day with my stock battery, so I'm not going to complain But 4 days? That is simply amazing!
Have a nice day mate :]

IMO CheckRom is quite simply the best all round ROM for this phone, it is exceptionally smooth and fast with zero bugs (that i have found anyway) and coupled with Speedmod kernel offers superb battery life, plus the Kitchen Pro allows you to customize your ROM the way you want, ive been using CheckRom since it's inception and i cant see me using anything else barring ICS.
You haven't included Rebel ROM in the poll list.
Using Rebel ROM with Siyah Kernel because of its battery life and the SE Launcher.
Hands down has to be Checkrom v6. Using NEAK kernel and both are match made in heaven. Best rom on GB. Regarding ICS. I have to say cm9 will be my next rom once that is stable. But knowing what Leo and GC will do once they get their hands on the official ICS stuff now that will be one hard choice to make..Hopefully the dualboot project might come to effect by then
Ps what Jonny said above i could not have put it any better..Well said mate
cyanogen mod9

because its freaking fast smooth and has incredible battery life

Sorry if I may come off sounding rude or anything. But is dual booting really that useful? I mean sure you can boot into miui and cm9 or cm7. But is it really that important? Or is it just a feature that you would like to have because it sounds and looks cool?
Would really appreciate if you could shed some light on this subject!
Thank you and have a good day.
1. Checkrom V6
2. CF Root LA4
3. Best balance of battery life and performance, sure other kernels can give better results on the battery side but I've got a 2000mah battery and charge nightly. Just everything works well with stock kernel. Will try out RedPill over the weekend.
4. Vert's ICS from Kitchen app,
5. SGP Neo Hybrid EX in black rotated with Sena leather pouch when I'm on my feet all day and need all body protection.

Oh yeah I can't wait for ICS either ^^ But I heard some rumours that Ice cream sandwich for the gs2 will come out March 1st. Is this true or is this just a rumour?
Thanks.
Samsung has comfirmed that it will come out on Q1, and Miui v4 are coming on 29 Feb so people are rumoring that it will come on 1st March.
If ICS will come out I will probably use the original one since I have a big problem with touchwiz, it hurt my eyes
hi
using- krinyo xwla4 slimrom + phenomenal 4.0 extreme.
why because i tried many roms and this gives no fc is smooth fast and the kernel is for battery life. developer support this rom and is very helpful. if u go to his threa u can see that are not 100000 post in wich many user complain about errors or other things. i think u dont need many words just try it and u will be amazed.
and put this rom in poll too.
currently using stock LPH with its own kernel, the only thing i modified is the modem which is LP6
after i tried ICS i couldnt go back to GB so with my current setup im getting awesome battery life, no fcs so im pretty happy with it

Well in a perfect world for me it would be nice to have access to two roms that i enjoy instead of restoring and backing up and reflashing. As you say it is a feature that sounds and looks cool but i am pretty sure we shall not see the light off. Yeah it might be possible and i think few devs have already tried it but it really has not taken off. It was more of a figure of speech i used it mate. Like i said it would of been great to use both ICS checkrom and cm9 as dualboot but that is a if and but...
So like i said best rom for me at the moment is checkrom as you can see from my sig. hope this clarifies a bit more
Checkrom v6
Darkknight 2.5.2
I flash a new firmware every 2nd day but I always go back to Checkrom and Darkknight because Checkrom is amazing with its kitchen etc and all other kernels like siyah, neak or redpill drain my battery in about 6-10 hours while on Darkknight I can use the handy for about 24 hours. Same usage. Maybe those devs could take a look at what Darkknight does right.... But I think it's really frustrating to be excited to flash a new kernel which praises "best battery" and after some hours your phone turns off.....

After flashing several custom roms like darkky, goatrip, insanity, simple honey etc. i feel juwe's rom to be the fastest and gives me good battery life. i'm not saying that the other roms are poor, just that juwe's rom is really good(my opinion). check it out and lemme know what u think!!.

Thanks to all the developers who have made sgs into a super phone.!!
While I agree that Juwe's ROM is very good, I went on to try other ones for a very simple (and subjective) reason: the theme.
Beauty always lies in the eye of the beholder so this is actually not an argument against Juwe's ROM but rather a statement of a subjective fact.
Currently I have found my thrill with Tweaky ROM v3.1 and it looks like it will stay on my phone for quite a while.
I used doc roms for a while and loved it strongly : fast, stable and personalized.
Then i tried CyanogenMod 7... and now I can't imagine going back to a Sammy based rom. Try it if you dare, you will be surprised!
BTW I have yet to try MIUI which is CM7 based...

I agree very, very nice rom. But Darky's rom 10 and Goatrip 1.9 are up there as well. I like how Goatrip has Goa tool to add and remve stuff. This is a great feature.
Problem with Darky is that's an RC and the extreme version that's final is still an Eclair...
i love darky's tho, but for now i'm using Juwe's as well.

I'm running the latest MIUI and it's brilliant. It's like a whole new phone. All the benefits of CM7 AOSP, with an added touch of elegant and professional UI design and convenience. Think... iOS, but with all the good stuff from Android mixed in. It's beautiful! I highly recommend it.
It's also updated very frequently, so any bugs are quickly ironed out, as well as new features being added every Friday. It's based of CM7, which is based off of AOSP, rather than Samsung, so they update to the latest Android release very quickly, for all the new goodies straight from Google. Currently at 2.3.4.
miui has some features that dont work that efficiently as of yet.. but having said that i love the miui music player!!
1. Darky is always the fastests for me.
2. Crinkelo, i flashed it every version. In my opinion its a little bit slower.
I dont know maybe because of its theme.
3. Goatrip, only Rom fc for me.
4. Andromedia, very beautiful Rom.
5. Sweet honey. Fine.
6. Wizrom 2. I liked very much. I could not flash version 3 though.
7. F1 Rom is also very good rom.
8. The best beautiful themed rom is Poppuri. Check it, you wont search for any other theme.

I don't understand what you're saying by Darky's ROM is Eclair? That's 2.1.
Darky 9.5 Extreme is Froyo and I found it to be pretty good, stable too.
(I think that the final gingerbread 2.3.3 hasn't come out yet so all the roms are RCs ?...)
I've tried Juwe's 4.1 before and it was good. Problem is I'm still hunting around so I'm finding it difficult to stick with one rom for a long period.

Oh, you mean that ROM in which *** CAMERA *** does not work, *** FM RADIO *** does not work, *** COMPASS *** does not work and things like that?
No, thanks, a ROM has to be feature complete before trying to add speed or bling-bling. I'm not going to use a ROM that cannot use all the hardware in my phone.
Darky released v10 final.
I've tried a few roms (Ultimate, Darky, Doc, etc.) but stayed with Doc's the longest. When JVK came out, it took a while for the the ROM makers to come out with a bug free release so I tried Ramad's deodexed stock rom. I was quite happy with it. And so, I haven't touched a custom rom since. Currently, I'm on a deodexed JVH (courtesy of Ramad) with Nick502's TW4/SGS2 mod (I love the new email app). I've even gone back to using the ugly glass lockscreen of Samsung because of the Music Player widget. I haven't really noticed much difference in performance between the custom ROMS I've tried and a plain deodexed one, although, I felt the earlier Darky releases (2.2 froyo) were quite bloated. Admittedly, besides some of the stock apps, I've installed maybe 15-20 other apps from the market.... so that may go some way to explaining why performance was mostly similar.

I have gone from Juwe's 4.2 to Tweaky Rom JVH v2 and battery life (18hours +) has improved so much while keeping it running fast and smooth and I love the TW4 on Tweaky's Rom too! I have used Fuguroot and I am on Voodoo recovery, which incidentally has improved battery life in my case!

Just like to share something with all you flashers out there. Spent the last few weeks flashing between various roms and getting very frustrated.
So I spent today (between the men's singles final) and flashed all of the following:
GingerReal-V6.4
Simply Honey 3.9
CriskeloRom GINGERBREAD v7.5
Juwe Smart Edition v5.0
various F1 GS2 and JVP
Tweaky Vanilla AOSP and Revolution
(haven't tried darky since 9.3 I think)
Admittedly this is not scientific...clearly too early to comment on a number of levels such as battery drain, but I found a little gem that I haven't heard much spoken about....its RYYU's EDB.
It really is the way I like it....SG2 look and feel....very close to stock.....not overworked graphics....fast...smooth....no obvious bugs. It is VERY elegant.
The Nexus S status bar icon colours are slightly dodgy and there is no choice of lock screen - just the SG2, otherwise, early days, but it is as good as I've tried and deserves a lot more recognition

well m not agree with u........m also flash all rom.......but one rom which i remove after 20 min of flashing is Ryy;s coz i is not stable from any way......
in my opinion the best avalible rom on XDA i tried is
1:- Juwes 5.0
2:- F1 GS2 V9
3:- Ginger Real
4:- Darky
so i advise any one to try juwes the most stable and fastest rom and the person know how to make a rom and it awesome with Semaphore kernal....i m lovin it
mate I've been on all of those roms. Indeed Juwe v4.3.1 and v5.0 for weeks and I do love them - Juwe is excellent. F1 GS2 loses the ability to swap between ext4 and RFS, Ginger real graphics are just too much for me.
Just for your information Ryyu rom has semaphore kernel too....and its as stable as anything so I'm sorry but I just don't agree with you...but of course this is all very subjective isn't it?
I'd just like to see more people try this rom as it doesn't appear to get the publicity of some others which is a shame

I completely agree with you. I've tried all tje roms you mention except simply honey and again agree that Juwe's v5.0 was the best and the most stable. But Ryyu's rom is also stable and what is more, it is fast, really fast. Menu openings, software installations, GPS connection, all actions are very fast compared to other roms. So if someone has a problem with it, there must be a problem with flashing, indeed it is very simple, check the process first.

Another Ryyuu user here.
Love it.
What is the best rom ?
I would like this to be like a big discussion thread without any fanboyism.
lets start with the 3 most popular firstly Cognition S2 v1.13 secondly Lite'ning Rom v2.2 and finally VillainROM 2.0
i think personally villain rom as the developer is more truthful than cognition developer and it just seems faster i like lite'ning rom but the blue theme with the white icons is not my cup of tea the cognition rom also is fast but the code to make quadrant give highscores without telling us makes me scared if he is hiding more stuff
Lite
I have the Lite´ning 2.2 and I think it rulez!
Stock ROM is the best imo, always was, always will be.
Rooted stock XWKF3, no real issues, I still little point in installing a modified rom (like I did on my desire)
I've only flashed 2 ROMS Lite'ning 1.5 and my current ROM is Cognition 1.13 both are excellent but i have a preference for Cognition, battery life is better, speed and responsiveness are about the same,Android OS issue hasn't gone away completely but has gotten considerably better with Cognition 1.13.
Prefer the romless rom excellent for newbies changes nothing .
But really none of them as a rom as they always have something i dont want or like . So i pick best rom and customize it myself .
jje
Another for rooted stock (2.3.3), though with Chainfire's KG1 kernel. I was running into a few bugs with 2.3.4, so I switched back.
I'll probably switch to Cyanogen down the line, when everything's finalized, and Samsung has since moved on to the Galaxy S whatever.
Until then, from what I've seen, I can't really come up with a good reason to use a custom ROM.

superior battery life is just one of many reasons to flash a custom ROM.
I have tried many custom rome and always go back to stock which says it all really.
definitely litening rom!
I like litening, because everything is in one package. But I do think I get a tad bit better battery life on villain, especially when the phone is on standby.
Came from Villian then Lite'ning now I have cognition
I didnt like how the battery life in Lite'ning was awful, otherwise it was pretty sleek but it's not for everyone, it's almost like a "hipster rom" if there was such a term.
For battery life I didnt notice much difference between Villian and Cognition so far, but there wasnt really much difference between Villian and stock rom.
I'll switch to CM when it gets done
Funny on lighting i ran from 4.30 til 18.30 wen i came home.
Made few phone call few sms and stil battery at 91 % arent u using something that drains battery like a mesenger ?
stock kf3, far better than ke7. tried all the customs on here n theres nothing to see really, definatley not yet any ways. you gotta realize tho that this phone is still a baby, give it a few months and itll be a different story
VilliamROM, great banter in the thread, helpful dev, and I find has top notch battery life.
I have used tons of roms in my previous device (Milestone), any you can think off, and got very used to MIUI. I miss a MIUI version for the Galaxy SII (its probablyt coming soon). IMHO, MIUI is the only rom I ever found that really improved the phone usability through radical, but very well thought, changes in the UI. And, at least for the Milestone, it was rock solid and improved battery life even with the phone overclocked to 1GHz on the "ondemand" CPU governor. However, i9100 is so fast I am even considering underclocking (first time ever).
Cognition doesn't use cheat script (angelom roms and first litening where using it) so don't post misleading things.

You should try Exynos v2.4, it is incredible.
stock is better for me.
Note is 3 months old.
First month (November to Christmas eve) some crucial development like rooting and initial development of ROMs happens. Chainfire, SheepROM, FM kernel and new RocketROM are what I read about while I wait for my online purchased Note to arrive in the mail.
Second month, December is when things kick off. Huge development kicks off. Very unstable. Lots of experimentation, problems, fixes. Rocket ROM goes from V5 through a new version every three or two days. Newbies can't keep up with learning AND testing before new versions are out. Too much new stuff. A good problem to have like too much money
Third month, Christmas through January. ROMs have grown and matured. Eyebee burns himself out from frantic Rocket ROM dev up to V20 and other ROMs have cross polinated features. New big name developers have joined us like CheckROM team, JKay, Hardcore, Tegrak, etc. And the Kernel continues being advanced by Angelom now to 3.5b
We are in a new phase. Probably last month before ICS comes out. Final quarter. Now is the time we can have it all in one ROM. Fast, cool, long battery, call recording, bluetooth headset and music, fast waking, dual core, fast GPU, 6 columns, fast scrolling, RTL, menu toggles...
So what is the best ROM now?
Which ROMs are great and what are their features? What things do they lack which could make them number 1 ROM once added?
I'm running Cassies Xtralite V6. Its kept overheat under control. And as we speak I'm downloading Cassies V7 and Chracks V10. Abyss 3.5b is already waiting to be tested when those are done. I hope no one calls me and interupts me from using my phone ;-)
So many choices. But working together we save a lot of time :-D
ICS will be way cool. But by the time it gets here we will already have awesome phones with customised GingerBread. Maybe I'll wait for month 2 of ICS before I get back onto ROM merry go round.
Rocket ICS V32?
My HD2 would have been useless without a custom Rom,as for the GNote I am still a bit skeptical as I haven't had big issues except some lag in opening certain apps .Mind you I haven't even had it rooted yet.
However it was nice of you to keep us updated with the latest Rom developments, and hope you keep on doing so from time to time in case some of us decide to jump.
Jack
Nothings better then stock Rom and manual tweaks. No tacky themes here

I was kind of hoping for a longer explanation
Just switched from the SGS II to the Note last night. I like it, the screen is nice with the Hi Res, but kinda also not liking the Pentile thing. Never the less, I miss my SGS II because of the sentimental reasons. THE NOTE is a beast.
The first thing I did was pop on CheckROM. On my SGS II, it was very stable.
I saw some lag with the stock rom, after a clean up and CheckROM install, the lag was gone.
I look forward to seeing some great development for this device.

How does the Note with CheckROM compare to the GS2 with CheckROM?
Any room for improvement that another ROM could be better, or is it just a personal preference on looks?
Well, I was not a fan of Custom roms, I usually used to root and do the manual tweaks. But CheckROM / Custom Roms do that among other things like Deodex. This also optimizes the ROM for better performance and better battery.
I have not used any other ROM on the Note since I just got it yesterday. Also Kernels allow functionalities to extend support to BLN, Overclock / undervolt.
I think CheckROM on the SGS II was fantastic, and the CheckROM on the Note is also good, but the amount of support for the SGS II will obviously be larger than the Note.
I think you should try out a few large fan following roms to see which one suits you. For me, I like the option of Standby battery life, and CheckROM did the trick on the SGS II. We will wait and see how it works on the Note.
Give it a try.

As cyanogenmod 9 is still in its early stages (and I come from the nexus one, having used a sh*tload of roms) I really would like some advice on which Note rom to try. As far as this thread goes, I'm starting to believe the default rom is still the best... and if there are already some other roms worthwhile please let us know with a few lines of extra comment. Would be appreciated a lot!
Thx
Well, if you go to the Android Development section for the Galaxy Note, you will see that there are a few roms available.
Darky Rom
CheckROM
CM9 Experimental
and a few others.
Most of them are based upon Samsung's ROM with fixes / tweaks. Currently, thats the only way to mod and for the most part is stable.
I thought I would pitch in with my story on the Galaxy Note. Paid about $800 for a white unlocked Galaxy Note, shipped, on Amazon US. I was very impressed with the build quality, except for a sneakily creaky back panel. Fixed it with a little sticky note taped to the back cover. No micro-patterns on the back cover though, just plain old gloss. It was meant for Germany and came with the new KL7 kernel. I've had it for about 36 hours now. I tried atleast 3 different kernels, about 5 or so stock ROMs, and another 4 or so custom ROMs. I ran a whole lot of AnTuTu and found out that RocketROM + Abyss 3.5b had the best score of about 6900. All the stock ROMs i tried gave me about 5300 with CF-Root kernel. With Abyss stock ROMs gave me 5800. Not bad at all. Even after trying out all possible combinations, I was VERY disappointed. Even with all the cutting edge hardware, the overall experience was mediocre at best. Laggy in all the wrong places, including XDA wiki. So.. I was mad. I was about to give up on the Note for being a complete hype. But then I remembered how well cyanogenmod runs (still) on my HTC Magic and HTC HD2. So I downloaded the CM9 ICS alpha. It's about one fifth the size of any stock ROM. But boy oh boy. THIS is what the NOTE was made for. It's so snappy that sometimes I fall behind on it. lol. And it looks absolutely brilliant. Total eye candy. The HD Super AMOLED feels like it's gonna slap you in the face. The bluetooth and camera are not functional, but this is just too good to miss. USB mass storage is also gone. But you can always boot into clockworkmod and get on mass storage there. It does not, however, provide access to the microsd card. But if you absolutely have to, I have managed to get QtADB to work for file transfer. QtADB also lets you work with the microsd. Other than that the whole ICS experience is quite amazing. I ran GTA 3 on the ICS and it didn't perform as well as it did on Rocket + Abyss. But it's worth mentioning that 'Shadowgun', which is supposed to be optimized for Mali-400, ran very well. So, yeah, you guys GOT to give CM9 ICS a try. I am hopping ship right now because I won't have to worry about migrating to ICS after I have spent weeks on Gingerbread. I might as well get ICS now and use TitaniumBackup But I don't think there is ANY gingerbread ROM right now that can hold a candle to this supposed 'ALPHA' release. The one problem that has been bothering me though is that the music skips whenever I use the volume buttons. Happens only with earphones. But I can live with it
Edit - I just ran AnTuTu on it. Got a respectable 5700.
BTW, overclocking on the Abyss is very unstable. Always kept crashing, even with relatively small increments in clock speed.

Also... if anyone runs into graphical glitches in Music, there is an easy fix for it. Go to Settings-->Developer options-->'Force GPU rendering' and enable it.

Thanks for the feedback... have another question though, what ROM do you use and/or would recommend?
I love(d) CM7 on my Nexus One... and would love to try CM9, but the camera not working is just too big of drawback for me at the moment.
I guess judging by the view count that rocket rom is a good option... maybe I'll try that one first.

I have to second this. CM9, even in its current form, is leaps and bounds ahead of any of the GB ROM's. It really makes the Note feel like a new phone.
Missing S-Pen functionality and camera made me return to gingerbread, and I'm now running cassie's v6, which is great. I miss ICS on a daily basis though, and can't wait till it becomes my daily ROM.

OMG, great to hear CM is again being such an awesome ROM can't wait for the camera fix....

cassie's v6 > Rocket Rom in your opinion? if so I'll try that one first I guess
The Note is very nice but software let it down.
My prior SGS II was much snappier with miui on it.
I use Rocket ROM, it is ok but it cannot be compared with cm9 or miui.
I can't wait for one of these Roms to do justice to do to the Note.

I also came from the Nexus One so I know what you mean. Here the ROMs don't seem to fully replace the system the way it does on the N1. So if you get 5 phones, wipe them and install for example Rocket ROM on all of them, they could be different. You may have differences that result in overheat problems. Somehow a wipe is not a wipe.
I will be trying out Darky3.1, Alpha Never Dies, Chrack4.1, Cassies V7, CheckROM V5 and maybe Rocket V20
What I will be looking for firstly that each candidate does not cook my phone, second phone recording works, third smoothness and speed, and fourth pretty pictures.
On Nexus One it is easy. But strangely on the Note wierd battery drain and overheat problems can appear from a ROM and not be fixed by simply replacing it.
Voodoo.

Would be AWESOME if you could post your findings on the various ROM's here. A single line of comment would be more then enough to make me (and perhaps a lot of other Note users too) happy. I'll do so too if I might start flashing some ROM's anytime soon.
Best wishes,
Jochen
Hello guys I'm new here,i get this device 2 days ago(coming from HTC Pico development)...I want your opinion for the fastest ROM,with a nice battery life and UI .Kernel too !
Regards !
i don't know about speed but if you want good battery life and stability, you should use original samsung gb roms like jw1 or newer (my choice is jw1 rom with jvt modem and aosp lock). Then use cf-root for rooting and remove bloatwares. A little advice, don't waste your time with ics or jb developments, because you don't seem to looking for only the fastest rom.

I like this: Slim Bean http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1780071
Test yourself
I've tested almost 10 ROMS, and in my opinion, test yourself.
For me, based on JB are good but battery life very poor.
Based on ICS, the best at the moment. My favorites:
1. Realrom v5: Very good battery, smooth, but not very good for playing.
2. SlimRom: very nice, very smooth, no lags but poor battery.
3. Biohazard 7: very very fast, but.... buggie! Problem of restarting.
4. My favorite: SmoothieICS: fast, vary good battery (2 days using greenpower), and perfect games. Still in beta version.
Hope it help you!

HI,
is anyone using one of these roms?
download.cyanogenmod.org/?type=nightly&device=galaxysmtd
Why are these not listed in the development area here on xda, what is the difference?

Those are the Cyanogenmod ROMs, and they are listed in the dev section, look for threads started by pawtip. CM10.1 pre-release thread is on page one, CM10 thread is on page two at the time of my posting.

I was confused as I couldn't find any references to the cyanogenmod.org site. On the dev page 1 there is the thread
[AOSP][ROM][4.2.1] JellyBean 4.2 PREVIEW (20121205)
wich is AOSP using cyanoges galaxy s tree, but, well, not cynogenmod...
And indeed, on page 2 there is
[NIGHTLY][ROM][4.1.2] CyanogenMod 10 for Samsung Galaxy S
The download link reveals cyanogenmod.org
Anyway, how is helly bean? Hasn't been mentioned, yet!?!
I am about to install this one, but have never tried it before, though.
Patience

Wait a few days - or if we are lucky a few hours - then I think pawitp will create what you (and more) are looking for! :good:
I expect something like this: [NIGHTLY][ROM][4.2.1] CyanogenMod 10.1 for Samsung Galaxy S

Helly Bean already is 4.2.1:
hellybean.com/I900042.html
But the majorety goes for CM instead of Helly Bean?
CM10
AOSP 4.2.1 (current)
above rom is awesome what I using.
hellybean and the devil kernel
there are also a 4.2 version which works great
Slim Bean is perfect for customizing..But not for performance i think..
The best combo is Elite's JB builds+latest semaphore kernel so far ..(I think).
But you can try it! I love Slim Bean just for tweaks ... The best one is "high end effects" for me
When you're scrolling not. drawer down, background's dim is channging... Gettin' dark just like Gnexus/Galaxy SIII or other devices which got offical JB !
Also an advice ;
If you wanna long lifetime battery best one is JW8 GB ROM
For me latest CM10 Nightly with Devil Kernel and maybe Lazeroid script works very smooth. No lags in GTA:VC on mid/high settings

Is CM10 better than SlimBean 3.1 in game? (Lazeroid and Semaphore)
for me the fastes is Beast rom 4.2.1 with linaro project + lazeroid 2.1 + semaphore kernel.
That's configuration and it is very smooth.

I prefer the SlimBean ROM 3.1. It is fast, smooth and the battery is also ok
CM 7.2.0 + ntsense cm7 theme + devil kernel = awesome look + battery life.
