[Q] Anyone working on miui 4.0? - Huawei Ideos X5 U8800

Now that we have a pretty good android 4.0 port, is anyone working on a port of miui 4?

I think this is 4.0 based http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1481168

Sorry, my mistake. I saw video on youtube with this rom, and there was android 4.0.3 in settings.

MIUI au (australia) have a desire z port of miui 4.0, but from my previous experience of porting, I am not the person to port it. I cant even get stockwells script to work properly. Maybe I will try revisit it when I set ubuntu up in virtualbox again. It might be possible to pull files from Aurora and use the script with them.
Just got to get GB installed when Huawei finally release it for atmel screens and then can play again.

I have tried (and failed) to hack/port using this guide (base ROM using dzo's Aurora, and desire z MIUI 4 for port files):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1499411
Every attempt was just a bootloop - with adb in recovery, all ported files appeared to be in /system with the right perms, but still no go..
Anyone else care to have a go?

I have bricked 1 device trying to port (not with this guide), but you can try with this guide:
Porting ROM
It might work. It'll make an "universal" port, which might work.

Howdy.
I think I may have a Cyanogenmod 6.1 Ver ready, but the updater-script needs some updating (I think).
Based on Neopeeks rom, made with the ROM kitchen.

Don't have a U8800 myself, need someone to test it.
If some more experienced dev could take a look at it i'd appreciate that.
However it should be ready for flashing.

Yes, using bravo as base, but it shouldn't matter, kernel is from U8800 along with drivers.
it seems that the rom is not match with the u8800.

could u share more of ur experience with this rom?
What exactly have you changed with this rom? Why did you choose the Desire rom? First up you need a new /system/build.prop then you need to edit the /META-INF/com/google/android/updater-script.orig file so it flashes stuff to the right locations. Then you need to change the ro.product.device so it matches the build.prop file. Then to top it off the bravo uses the MTD partitioning scheme but the u8800 uses the EMMC partitioning scheme. So to put it simply, the rom will not work without many changes.
Yeah it also seems to have modules built for 2.6.35.9 (including a bcm4329 driver whereas this phone uses a Qualcomm RF chip, I believe WCN1312).
atleast some work is going On
Updated the ROM, should work now- Can anyone test?
Doesnt work...
anyone checked? i ve recovery problem i cant apply this rom right now

There are so many roms for droid 2, like fission, that i want to use in my milestone 2, but see that mike and others try to port but doesnt work. But now, we have new roms and new oportunites...

Well, I'm still learning the basics of android building. As soon as I get my custom hijack for 2nd init working I will try to port CM to the Milestone2. Note that I'm not promising any dates. My free time is very short and I'll do my best, but I don't want to get under pressure because of this
I think a leaked unlocked bootloader would do the trick
Just jocking. As I see it, nothing has changed regarding custom roms, as the bootloaded stays the same.
But I am quite confident, that r2beta0 will have progress on 2nd-init soon.

I think we don't need the 2nd-init built specially for GB rom, since Defy's CM7 (and Droid 2/X's) still have the base SBF on froyo. Maybe if we exchange the boot.img and devtree.img from GB leak to the ones inside Defy's CM7 update.zip (don't forget to delete /system/etc/motorola/bp_nvm_default/pds_init too, or you'll get all that GSM problems again)?
Edit: Won't Apex 2.0 RC2 work on GB Mile2?

We need 2nd-init in order to change the boot sequence required by CM7. DroidX already have a customized 2nd-init for CM7, but I don't want to use it yet as it uses bootscripts inside a /system/etc/shadow-boot.zip. I prefer to have my files ready to edit and not inside a zip file. Also, trying to make my own hijack is giving me knowledge I will need when trying to port CM to M2.

Hi guys,
Searching the web, i found a oficial port of MIUI for droid 2, than i think: "Can we port this version with the ch kernel and change the baseband?"
If its possible, i think that this way is more simple, however port a defy rom and fix the incompatible bugs...

We should check first if this ROM is compatible with the kernels we have available. If so, we can try to port from that. Some ppl into Development forum are already trying to do that.

It is more difficult to port from a CDMA device. If you achieve Apex Rom to work with GSM network, then you can think about porting it.

Hey guys, a new ROM has just released on Dev Forum, click here and see by your self!!!!
One maybe stupid question:
Can I install this rom on froyo or should I first upgrade my MM2 to GB?
There´s what u have to do (didn´t test yeat, I will try at night. But u can always downgrade with a stock SBF):
** Make u sure of your phone is rooted before everything !! **
1. Download all-in-one.zip and put into /sdcard/
2. Download and Install Droid2bootstrapper (old CWM) from the internet/market
3. Update to Ported Defy CWM (there´s a thread in general forum explain how to install that)
4. Boot into CWM and apply the all-in-one.zip and after (without reboot) make a full-wipe (make u sure that u have maked a backup of everything before)
5. At this moment, reboot your phone and use the keys combination for enter in bootloader mode
6. Download the fixed_sbf from the original thread in DEV forum and apply with RSD lite.
7. Your phone will reboot and after some minutes, U Can Enjoy the new ROM!!!
I think I made a big mistake!
I touch everything and I'm going to Defy baseband! I change the parameter.
Since the network can not be found.
Any idea?
i will take a look at this

Try that tread and if dont work, reapply the rom...
Good mod!
But does anybody know how can I get back low battery beep and camera sounds? I find them rather useful.
I got struck in "google" logo and the phone dont boot
how can i do factory reset in bootmenu from the CM7 ? i dont find this option there...
or even re-install all the stuff...
EDIT: i can't open CWM 4.0 from the BootMenu 1.0.2 , i try latest recovery or stable recovery but it says "error in /system/bootmenu/script/recovery.sh (result: no such file or directory)
Please help ! T__T
I can't post in thread on development's subforum, so I ask my question here:
where can I find a tool and howto to make my own custom *.zip file to use with CWM? I have found a tool called Android Kitchen, but readme inside archive says, that it is mainly created for HTC devices. Am I following a correct path , or I should search some other tools?
update:
I have successfully flashed my custom *.zip file based on information taken from www[dot]londatiga[dot]net/it/how-to-create-android-update-zip-package/
coming from miui, how should i update?

[Q] Honeycomb was ported to Armv6 blade. What about ICS?

Hi there,I'm trying to port the SDK dump to my LG P500,which has the same specs like ZTE Blade.
After applying normal methods for making other phones' roms boot and a special patch found here it doesn't even give logcat,so bootloops in recovery.
After doing some research,I discovered that libs are built for armv7,which we don't have. But also Honeycomb SDK libs were built from armv7,but we got it working on both LG P500 and ZTE Blade.
So,any ideas? Just asking
I think honeycomb and below was build from armeabi (To run on the old simulator that was armv6 vfp (but the vfp wasn't used by google).
whereas ics was built for armeabi-v7a
That is certainly implied by the AVD manager anyway.

Thank you for replying
usually only kernel have ARM text and other also init.rc have kernel text if editing them to ARMv6 kernel text then it needs to work in ARMv6 device..
If not, then some files needs editing...
Android 4.0 ICS needs new EGL and hw files which needs to be ARMv6= ZTE Blade/other phone! all phones have own files to work fine!
If someone can edit Android 4.0 libGLES*.so, libEGL.so files and then egl folder files needs editing.. and then hw folder files for Screen, sensors, GPS, Audio, etc.
then them need right files to get work the audio, camera, WiFi...
WiFi files can work if you add older Android OS WiFi files: libhardware-legacy.so or what it is and then right WiFi files to /System/etc/
to get all to work it maybe takes many days and for me more than 9 months because I'm only 14! xD
SDK port is maybe not really good, it's better to port from other device ex: Samsung... then some files works without editing...
manumanfred the sdk was compiled for ARMv7, it's a different cpu, different machine code. It needs recompiling, to be able to do that you need the source code to compile it.
Without source code you're about as likely to get ICS running on your Blade as you are to get your PS3 running Windows 7.
When devices with ICS are available source code will be too, so porting it from another device would be a waste of time.

ICS on the Blade is booting!
But that's all it does
I used this ROM and replaced boot.img with CM N257. In the honeycomb port they fixed the flipped screen with patching libsurfaceflinger.so on offset 1AC90 but that does not work on ICS. Launcher FC's on first boot but does not after reboot.
Could you please upload that booting rom? I tried it and it won't even install. Even if nothing works, I would like to try several things on that to see if I can fix it, so if you upload it I would be very thankful

I have a O1 somewhere might dig it out, and have a look
I got it booting! Screen is fliped, touchscreen doesn't seem to work at all and I couldn't test anything else because I can't press OK on the first tutorial screen, but it may be something to start with!
I'm uploading it right now, but I think it will take a while as my connection isn't working very well right now, but I'll post the link as soon as it's finished.
EDIT: OK. You'll have to be patient. Apparently, my 20 MB symmetric shared connection doesn't want to upload faster than 50 KB/s. It's always like this in the afternoon: too many people using it LOL. Hopefully it will be uploaded in 25 minutes or so.

FirefoxOS ported to Samsung Galaxy S2 (JellyBean 4.3)

I've finally opened the new official thread for this port:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2612940
Thanks!
Hi,
I've been working on supporting GT-I9100 for FirefoxOS with JellyBean 4.3. This is going to be the near-future for next FirefoxOS releases so thanks to the previous work done by CyanogenMod on porting this device to JB4.3, I could ported it to FirefoxOS.
I don't have "privileges" to create a new thread on i9100 development forum and announce there all the work I've done, so in the meantime I thought that someone here could be interested in testing it and helping
Right now, the only way to have an image and installing it on you device is building it by yourself, just follow these instructions: plus.google.com/117885749590235128300/posts/cH2qU1hcLEC

That might be a silly question but is there any chance that it works white other aosp based rom like Paranoid Android ?

Well, the dual boot can be extended to add other ROMs easily but it will take a lot of time to test them all so for now I'd stick with Cyanogenmod 10.2. Anyway, all my work is shared via github.com/atilag so any collaboration will be appreciated

Yes, this is a CWM installable .zip.
It is dual-boot in case you have installed CM10.2 on it. If you don't, you won't be able to dual-boot.

Hi, first of all, I opened a new ROM thread (and thus the official) for this port: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2612940
If you want to boot into CM10.2, you have to use adb this way:
adb shell cr.sh 1
This will reboot the phone in this very moment, and will boot into CM10.2.

Nope. Just changing libs here and there, according to this guide. I'm still noob in porting roms so I can't do much.

Yes. I'm actually having problem in repacking system.new.dat files. The same as the guy face here. Finding the solution require me to learn Linux. I'm still new at Linux, so I need some time to learn.
Other than that is okay (perhaps). I followed some other guides like http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/development/guide-how-to-port-lollipop-based-roms-t3223938 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2707438.
Oh and one more thing, the rom is ported by @Cheshkin. I've tried to seek his permission to port the rom through pm, but still no answer. So I cannot post the rom here (if I done porting it) without his permission.

Let's wait for the response then
Would be graet to see CM to release this device's potential. Especially since HTC is taking it's sweet time with 6.0 update and 5.1 was officially skipped.
Anyway if you would need some testers I would gladly help.
Good news! The permission has been granted. I will try my best to port this rom.
And what with 820n?

We don't have 64-bit kernel sources for 820n MSM chipset
Hi @amirarsyad97, so did you manage to extract system files?

I already did, but I can't repack it. So instead I tried looking for other roms while staying away from dat files - cm12.1 ulefone be touch 2 and blisspop k3 note.
Now I'm having problems with the kernel. The rom won't boot at all, the worse I can't get the dmesg.
I don't have much free time to explore kernels in detail. If anybody can help me with porting the kernel, it would be a pleasure.

I will try porting the kernel using the kitkat kernel as base when I find time
Unfortunately, I did not succeed, I could not even get into the bootanimation. Hope someone can help us.
I am now trying to squeeze the Lollipop system partition so that we can liberate some more free space for the internal storage, hope it works
That would be the coolest thing???
Hello guys hope you have been doing great, Was too busy with school, exams and stuff.
Good news!! I have finally managed to boot into CM 12.1 after I successfully ported it today.
It's lightning fast but has some bugs: USB, bluetooth and Sim don't work currently and it needs some resizing of the framework images.
I will try to work on it until Sunday and hopefully someone else can take over with modifying it

Use this kernel and build.prop and use the original system (don't replace with stock files) https://mega.nz/#!c4USzSTL!rXmsjMYaxR9ECwNeiMjissLPuFRLBWBUSLIuwiBFwQk
Almost everything works right now except Bluetooth, camera and Sim
Great work keep it up
