Hi guys,
I am an Acer beTouch e101 phone owner. It runs windows mobile 6.5 and i would like to dual boot it with android.I know we can dual boot these two OS in many or almost every HTC handsets, but would like to know if thats possible with Acer beTouch.Tried the XdAndroid Haret and it boots but crashes before i can see something Android. Thanks in advance.
Yes I have the same phone, the Acer E101 betouch, would like to dual boot android on it like done on other windows mobile HTC handsets..
Before you can use Android, let alone dual boot it, you actually have to have a working port of Android. XDAndroid has only been ported to some devices, all of which are MSM7xxx based devices made by HTC. Unless someone ports Android to the Acer beTouch, it won't run on the beTouch.
Thanks for replying buddy. Can someone here help me in porting it to this phone?

now Acer Launched Be Touch Series E110 with Android.... so, keep Finger crossed ..n. hope some body will attempt it for us...
My Father Still has a E101 and we would LOVE to find out how to put / port android to it as a replacement to the shiddy windows it came with! ( yes i know i woke up an old thread!! but its still relevant!
why is there no port a ACER E100????????
I have continuesly spend hours of dedication to the research of my little pda. ACER Betouched. E100. I have a feeling that I can install A android system on it only it wont boot. I would love to find out if there is actually one for this phone. I can also move with the hype of mobile phone software and apps. SO I if you read this post. there is no port for the acer I have looked over the web. I have had enough of looking for it. BUT want that little OS system running on this light pda. with out having to buy a ANDROID phone from a networked retailer. Thank you for you reading time, and help us poor Acer users who dont have this ANDROID usability.
My wife works for T-Mobile. Unfortunately her boss is elusive and won't share details but he said that he has Android's market on his HD2.
I call bull**** but thought I'd come here to ask. IS this possible?

A bit pointless even if he did, surely he'd need Android to run the apps in it?
hd2 have it own market which is only for windows mobile not for andriod devices. so windows power fone like hd2 can't run andriod software.

If he is running Android Market on his HD2, he is running Android OS on his HD2.
Is he running Android OS on his HD2?
Maybe he's such a tech wizard, he got Android OS to work on the HD2 without us at XDA-Devs knowing a thing about it.
Maybe he's just that amazing of a person.
Maybe I should believe that he got Android working on HD2.

LOL @ "Maybe he's such a tech wizard, he got Android OS to work on the HD2 without us at XDA-Devs knowing a thing about it."
you my brother just made my day with this one - simply hilariousss....
Note to poster: He probably has OMarket which he probably renamed and switched the icon for it to make others to think he has one on his HD2... or he is calling unlocked HTC phone with Android an HD2 phone lol - he got some things mixed up...
hello.
i was wondering, since i'm going to get an htc Tattoo these days, and i saw some clips on YouTube: hd2 running android, hd mini running android, etc. is it posible to put WM on some android powered device...??
i know, iknow, android i so much better than the WM, but i would like to see WM running on, soon to be mine, HTC Tattoo...
Doubt it since the file system for Android is based of Linux.
then y not just buy a WM phone? y buy an android to have windows mobile?
i know where hes coming from i got hd2 and it runs android fine but i still want to keep WinMo but i want to run WinMo as a 2nd OS
WM!!!
That´s the wonder of WM
It is wonderful to be able to switch between OS!!
If in some moment I just thought about moving to Android with this dual boot I´m staying in WM all the way!!

thanks for understanding, that's just what i want... but it seems it can't be done... damn.
so, how's Android running on your HD2?? is it laggy or smtn? is it running properly, like on any other android device...?

It is actually pretty good and stable. Battery, without very heavy usage, can last you about a day (and I am sure that there are things that can be done to make it last longer). The other device(s) that run Android smoothly are the Vogue, the Kaiser, and the Polaris. Everything works, great battery life, and best of all... very cheap devices (you can get a Vogue for ~$80 on Market Place or eBay)
Now If only I didn't break my Kaiser by standing on it I would have installed android.

it might be wonderful...but not with WM...definitely
and about the wonder of WM...the only wonder is that it can mysteriously and magically crash or get stuck and cause trouble and pain in the ass to the user hehe.
sorry orb but this is getting personal...you and me....we have to argue about this all the way hehe
cheers mate
@fino1: you won't miss anything without WM...trust me..i've been using it since wm 2002 and the android was a relief....although WM is far better, superior and more versatile than java os (mostly used os for mobile telephones) or symbian ,IMO
WM is pure function ...no user experience....in fact user experience is terrible and far outdated, and experience is what does or does not frustrate you
android is more about experience right now,but function isn't far behind,it is slowly catching outdated WM and getting some lead in that race...
first ive heard of this haha
Well.. tbh I second this request.. I believe in porting mutliple OS to 1 Device it just gains more functionality.. I believe it would be quite comfortable to use e.g. Android for browsing & websurfing.. and on the other hand use some neat WinMo Apps for dunno.. maybe some office work or something like that..?
After we saw Ubuntu and Android on the Leo, When are we going to see Maemo or Meegoo on it?

bump!!! on this, i would like to see maemo too, and pissed off the n900 user
i think it's not so hard as we have ubuntu running very well
I agree with you
this thread should be moved onto the android/linux on hd2 thread.
And by the way, I totally side with you on this. I "hate" android. Why? It's by google, and it's not really linux. On the other side I'd love to have meego on my hd2, but think about it, not even nokia has released a single device with meego on it, and at this rate if they don't hurry when they will do that, noone will care about it anymore.
Even if I favour meego over android, like, a lot, I realistically cannot see how those who spent their blood in porting android to the hd2, and those others who develop for that platform, will invest their time and energy in another linux based mobile OS... if that OS keeps delaying itself.
So, any plans to bring WebOS to the HD2, now that it's opensource?
webOS is a good OS, but i hope devs will continue on meego first
What has WebOS got to do with Ubuntu?
What has WebOS got to do with Android or WM?)
WebOS isn't yet open-sourced, HP just said it will do that. No sources are available as of now, and it's silly to ask when it'll be ported to HD2 if we even don't know when sources will be available. But, it might me easier to port than meego, as meego's most interesting version (from nokia n9) is closed-source, and opensource meego is, according to devs, not much usable.

What has your question got to do with price of fish?
My question was in relation to him putting this topic in the Ubuntu section when it should have been the HD2 General section.

This one looks like kernel (and possibly some other GPL-ed components) sources. And it is there probably since a long time. So no, WebOS isn't open source yet.
Sorry for posting the question here. I thought , as nobody really looks at the meego board anymore, I should ask it here as the guys'n'gals that are into porting Ubuntu to the HD2 are a little more hardcore and thus apt to give an honest perspective on whether or not this could happen. I read on the Verge that someone had it running on the Evo 3D so maybe it isn't that far fetched.
As I have understood some of the UI/UX stuff is not open source yet.
We shall come back to this discussion when it's time for that.
WebOS? I'm still waitng for further development of Ubuntu! Sound? Calls? Magldr?
Bumping for interest and the sake of prosperity for our mighty HD2...
Face it Meego is going nowhere slow, if anywhere at all... With the announcements of nokia going to wp. Ubuntu is making very small but slow baby steps...
So why not stir up a craze that'd baffle the internet media once again with the viral power of what the HD2 can do?
It's been ported to many other HTC devices so why not our HD2? We can't just let it die with millions of android and wp builds and lack of interest in other projects such as linux and meego, so I only see one other hurdle to jump that being WebOS.
Well, we'd have to find someone, who could port it... If I wasn't a total failure when it comes to programming and stuff, maybe I could do it :x
The difference between Android and other OSes is Android is popular and it's rather easy to cook a ROM... But here, we'd have to work from scratch. And nobody wants that. Shame on you, community, shame!
The only thing I see possibly coming next for the HD2 is WP8 (Maybe, if it's possible or at WP7.8) I rather hate WP and still love my huge variety of apps and customability with WM... I'm doing Win95 on it, Boxmax SD XDAndroid Sense and Ubuntu...
I don't see why or how it'd be so hard if so many other HTC's have it running already, get the closest build with matching spec's between the HTC HD2 and whatever HTC is remotely similar to our in hardware, edit it for Android maybe and change the drivers of the HTC (In question) to the HTC HD2 in code by similarity of Android builds for HD2. On a side note, I read that the HTC Evo 4G is the same phone as the HD2 on XDA, so if we could find a WebOS Build for that we'd be off to a good start. Then onto the debugging and next step is glory.
If I knew anything about coding and cooking I'd give it a whack, but I don't know much about it.
+1 on WebOS on the HD2...
I have it on the Touchpad and I love it!

Windows 8 is Windows 7 and we did that already, we'd just be spinning our wheels or going backwards then instead of moving forward with bootable os'es.
If you want Windows 8 so bad on your HD2 hunt around for a 7.8 rom, closest you'll prolly get. Anyways you could get in a whole lot more trouble cooking an OS/Rom onto an unsupported phone that hasn't even been released yet to normal consumer users yet.
WebOS would be great those who aren't ready for Android or don't want it and those who don't like WP, but desire something other than WinMo 6.5.
WebOS is dead...
Still would love to see a new OS once in a while. +1 for WebOS, +1 for MeeGo, +1 for Firefox OS (or whatsisname)
