Persistent Voicemail notification - Focus General

Hi all, I have a persistent voicemail notification on my phone tile thatvwont go away despite not having any unheard voicemail. It's going on 2 weeks now and I have not found anything that gets rid of it.
The phone is my daily driver on my work sim so its stock att mango update and not unlocked. I've held off doing much with it since I have an hd2 I use for testing the latest and greatest.
Any suggestions (other than a factory reset) will be appreciated.

leave yourself a few voicemails and then delete them. I had this same issue happen to me. for some reason my phone was registering that I had a voicemail even though i didn't have any so it continually tryed to say I had one. So, I left myself a couple voicemails so that the count would be up, soft reset my phone, and checked my voicemail deleting them all. Hope it works for you. I know I did it without a factory reset; so if you don't get it intially don't wipe it out yet.

Thanks siralex, I've had other voicemails and tried creating a few to clear it but the combination of multiple voicemails with a reset before clearing them has done the trick. Thanks

**Very important, no text or calls!

so maybe like an hour ago, my phone decided to stop working. i've restarted twice and deleted texts. my text messages just sit in the out going box. one friend got the message 8 times, but my phone said it hadn't even sent yet. i also only sent it once. so i'm worried as to how many times my other friend got a message that i've sent about 5 times.
i tried calling 2 people and it wont connect. is it my phone or it t-mobile being weird? i really need my phone as i have a date tonight, so if i could get some help fast that would be wonderful. i do not want to do a hard reset and lose everything, but if that is what needs to be done i guess i can do it.
Unfortunately, when a phone starts acting up, if soft reseting doesn't work, a hard reset is usually the only answer. Unless it's phone hardware issues...
You can try to uninstall tweaks and programs and see if it's one of them causing the problem... have you changed your ROM radio by any chance?
it fixed itself after about 2 hours

Phone won't send texts

happened while i was sleeping, there are 2 arrows and an X on the top bar next to my signal indicator which is completely full. says there are no data connections and won't let me send texts. i have soft reset my phone and i get the same thing.
any ideas?

well it is working now, it makes calls and sends/receives texts now.
it happened last night when i was sleeping and continued until an hour or so ago.
i still have the two arrows and X that say no data connections though, even after a reset, and one text remains in the outbox no matter what.

Are you running stock rom? Did you install anything prior to this happening?
i am on the stock ROM, i have quite a few things, the most recent things i installed were a few games. i don't think they would be the culprit

Well, not really sure what's going on with that, but I think I would do a hard reset to make sure it isn't a software issue.

yeah now i have a text that stays in the outbox that sends every time i turn on the phone and even when i clear all my texts they show right back up after a reset. i'm going to flash to the newest official ROM (because apparently 2 were released within a week or something) since i have to hard reset anyways.

Good luck with that...but I heard there were some issues with the newest official release. Have you thought about flashing to a cooked rom?

Sounds to me like you have a data issue of some kind. The stock SMS app is not very good. I have never heard of this issue though.
Call sprint and tell them that you cannot recieve MMS and they can reset stuff on their side. I have had to do that because I wasn't getting SMS, they put me on hold for a few minutes reset it, then theyll send you a test message that should work.

My friend has/had this same problem. I sent him some pictures once and same thing happened; no one has sent him a MMS since, so I don't know if it's still an issue.
Anyway if I were you I would contact Sprint Customer care.

most likely your account needs to be re-provisioned
Im having the same problem and Sprint seems to know nothing about it. I have spoken to customer service numerous times about this and even brought it in to the store. The only thing they suggest is a factory reset. I have tried that yet as I dont think that will fix the problem.
ya they tell me on the phone "lets do a hard restart, that fixes everything".. but i havnt done it because i dont want to mess up my root and rom, and i dont even know what will happen.
ok so they tried doing the reprovision today (i actually got some one who new what they were talking about) and it didnt work.
the only step left is a hard restart. will this affect fresh 1.1 or root in any way?

[Q] Error sending/receiving MMS "National access coverage not available."

Hello,
Lately I have been unable to send or receive text messages that contain pictures or videos. The error message is always the same "National access coverage not available."
I called Verizon, on Thursday of last week (1-13), and the technician was unable to figure out the problem. He escalated it to the next level and said that someone would be contacting me in a day or 2. Well it's now Wednesday (1-19) of the following week and so far, nothing!
Has anyone else run into this problem? If so, what's the fix? Any help would be appreciated, especially since Verizon has been no help at all!
I'm using a Moto Droid2 ver, 2.3.2 Rooted and OC'd @ 2.25Ghz
Thanks,
Scott

Thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately, it didn't work. I updated it waited the 15 minutes. When it didn't work I rebooted the phone figuring maybe it needed to be refreshed or something, (long time windows tech, reboot fixes everything!) but still nothing. Just that same message.
I get the exact same error when sending or receiving MMS 50 percent of the time with the first initial try... *228 does not fix this.. verizon cannot fix it either...
OK, got tired of waiting for Verizon to call back. On the phone with 2nd tier support now for about the last hour, so far nothing.
Mine started doing that on mms after using juice defender app and I had to do a factory reset to fix it.
OK, got finished with the Verizon tech, who was very helpful, but we still could not resolve the issue.
She removed and reloaded my data from the server, switched me to another IP address and did a few other behind the scenes things but nothing worked. She suggested doing the factory reset, but I'm ready to give up troubleshooting this issue yet. If all else fails, then I guess I will have no other option.
Since sending MM text's in not a huge part of what I use my phone for, I may just wait for the next release of the software and hope that fixes it.
In the mean time I'll just keep playing with settings and searching Google and the message boards in the hope that someone can come up with a fix that doesn't involve having to wipe it.

I used to use that app, but removed it long before this started happening. I wonder if it left behind some orphan files that are somehow in there wreaking havoc?
Since the problem still existed even running the phone in safe mode, I would think that would not be the case, but anythings possible.
my phone does the same thing with same message... if i try again to download message it will usually come through, but if it happens on outgoing message it will never go through

That's the thing. Since so many people are having the same or similar issue, I just find it hard to believe it's not something on Verizon's side or with their software. This many people screwing up their phone's in the exact same way all around the same time just seem a little suspect to me.
Mine happened 6 months ago. Just reset it and see what happens. All your apps with reinstall by themselves.

Yeah, I guess I'm going to have to try something. I want to make a nandroid backup first just to be safe and then I'll give it a shot.
Thanks.
This is great!
So, I just finished the factory reset (which DID fix the problem) and was starting to configure all my custom settings when the Verizon tech I spoke with called me back. She said that she had just spoken to Motorola and they said it was a known problem with their phones! They are not sure what it is yet, but they are working on it. In the mean time, the only thing they can suggest is to reset the phone as a work around!
I asked the Verizon tech if there was any kind of documentation about this that she could send me, but of course there isn't. And there's also nothing on the Motorola site about the error either, at least nothing I could find.
While it doesn't make the situation go away, it does make me feel better knowing what the root of the problem is, sort of. Only problem is, there is no guarantee that it won't happen again.
i turn airplane mode on then off... works for me
Im having the same problem. I even reflashed to stock motorola, still does it. I noticed if i hold down on failed pics or tap download a few times it works. The problem seems to be triggering the data on and off from the send button.

Yes, I had heard that worked for some people, and I did try that but it still didn't work. Even so, that would only be a work around and not really fixing the issue.

Interesting, since I did the factory rest I haven't had a problem. If it happens again, I'll be sure to check that.

Persistent voicemail notification

I know I saw someone mention this either on here or another forum, but I'll be damned if I can find the solution.
I'm on T-Mobile's 100 minute plan and disabled carrier voicemail long ago. After moving everything over to my Nexus 4 yesterday I've been getting a persistent new voicemail notification. Of course it can't find my mailbox when it calls voicemail; it doesn't exist.
I can't see any way of clearing this. Anyone else run into this?

I had to call my T-Mo Voicemail leave a message, give it about 5 minutes. Hit the icon so it calls the voicemail then delete the one I made. Then switched to Google Voice lol. If you don't know your voicemail number, call your number from your phone. Assuming you didn't change any settings it should take you directly to T-Mo voicemail.

Well that's the rub. I called T-Mobile long ago and had them turn off voicemail altogether. I use Google Voice exclusively.
Edit: I should mention that it did this on both the stock ROM and CM10.1, though on CM it didn't start until after I rebooted the first time.
I had the same problem and I also had this problem with my Galaxy Nexus. The solution I found on both phones was that as soon as I rooted and flashed a new ROM I immediately installed Google Voice after performing the initial setup (before doing anything else). On both phones this prevented that persistent notification from ever returning.
Many others had this problem on the Gnex as well and all agreed that this solution worked.

So once it's there I'm kind of out of luck? Do I have to do a factory wipe and reflash CM10 for a chance at getting rid of it?
Go to your google voice account on a computer and mark EVERY voicemail that is not marked as read, read.
Solves your problem.

I haven't had any GV voicemails at all since powering on the Nexus 4 for the first time, either old ones or new.
I did change the voicemail setting to Google Voice in dialer settings then cleared data on the dialer app. That made it disappear... for now.

I had exactly the same problem after swapping SIM card to my nexus. My voicemail was disabled. Every time I call it I was forced to press * key and enter 10 digit number. I had to call T-Mobile to solve notification icon problem. They set up my voicemail again and left a message. After that I called and listened it, so the problem is gone now. Hope this will help you

Wipe cache and dalvik cache then fix permissions. After rebooting I bet it will be gone.
OP, any luck getting this sorted? I got an N4 for Christmas and I'm seeing the same thing as you.
I'm on the $30 prepaid plan, and had previously disabled my T-Mobile voicemail. Once I got a new micro SIM and popped it in my new phone, I received the persistent voicemail indicator. I called T-Mobile on Monday and all I could get them to do was to "create a report" of my issue - even after I suggested that they re-enable my voicemail to let me leave and clear a message. I'll try calling today to see if I have better luck stumbling across the magical combination of words to get them to do what I want, but figured I'd check in and see what sort of success you may have had.
I have the same issue, I am on Fido (Canada). I have the persistent icon every-time my phone reboots... I do have a voice mail, and I have no messages on it. I even tried calling myself from another phone, leaving a message and using my N4 to delete it, but it still there and persistent. I don't recall having that issue on my previous phone... (Gnexus)
I've also noticed that if gapps aren't flashed, the icon isn't there...the moment I flash google apps...it appears..
Any solution would be highly appreciated...
I've ran into this a few times and it's not always google voice, sometimes it's your carrier voice mail, you can also try setting your phone back to carrier voicemail, calling and leaving a message and then deleting it. It's fixed an issue on my work phone a few times.

Quick follow-up: My second attempt with T-Mobile support was much more successful. Within about ten minutes I had gotten my voicemail turned back on, a test message cleared (along with the notification), and the voicemail service disabled again.
From some reading around the web, it seems that new SIM card activations with T-Mobile default the Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) to On, I guess in an attempt to get you to set up your voicemail service ASAP. They unfortunately didn't have the foresight to automatically disable that if the SIM is activated on an existing line with no voicemail service. Oh well, that was easy enough to fix
I'm topping this thread because it's the first one that popped up in my Google search on how to resolve my issue.
AT&T Galaxy S4
Google Voice voicemail
Just got my phone in and I didn't set up the voicemail properly I guess.
Got a notification of a new voicemail.
The message wouldn't go away.
When I dialed the number it told me to dial, that just went to my Google voicemail which said there were no new voicemails.
I tried a BUNCH of things. Here is what finally worked for me.
1) I went to https://www.google.com/voice
2) I disabled my Google Voice on my phone from that link.
3) Rebooted my phone.
4) Now when I called my voicemail, it went to my AT&T voicemail instead of Google.
5) From there, I was able to delete my voicemails.
6) Then I re-enabled Google Voicemail on my phone from the link above and now all is good again. No more notifications that don't go away.
This thread was a huge help in me troubleshooting the problem.

Do you mean in Settings / Application Data?
I tried that and it did not clear the indicator.
I needed to call T-Mobile, have voicemail turned back on, clear the indicator, and then call back and have them disable my voicemail service again so my calls would be redirected to my GVoice mailbox.
You should cancel it at your mobile operator. I had the same problem
