Post here and I will look into it.
Sir, I saw your video "How to build an Android App Part 1". Towards the end of the video, you connect your phone to your PC and click on the play button, a dialogue box appears, where you click OK and the application then runs on your phone. But when I click the play button on Eclipse, it opens a new XML file called 'main.out'. Please help me!
Thanks!

you may need to update the SDK. Try reinstalling Eclipse Classic as well.

I watched your second video too, sir. It's very hard to write a java program for an android app. I'm in class 10 and in our school we've started studying java since 9. So i could understand only 40% of the java program in your video. I guess i'll have to study java a lot more.

There funny and educational.

No. I dont want to deal with C# and it is not as refined as java. May show how to set it up but i have no intention of using it as a primary language. There is too much going for java.

We can cross that bridge when we get there. It would take something way bigger than the current Oracle case to do that. There's no reason to change languages now. Oracle must prove that their business is "damaged"... it's not, they tried several times to make a mobile OS and failed. They gave up. Google stepped in.

I made one app for my GF where it had only one button and i changed the name of the button to "surprise" and when she clicked it the text msg came saying how much i love her and it made her day. She check that app everyday and gets very happy. Thank you so much for all this. I will be waiting fit your next video.

Hi Mr.Adam
one of the biggest unsolved problem here in xda is the problem of the "UKNOWN BASEBAND" on the galaxy s2, a lot of people believe to be a software problem & many others said that is a hardware problem as some of them claim that a small chip located next to the sim card slot on the motherboard gets corrupted which results the "unknown baseband" error, could you please shade some light on that & enlighten us what could be the source of such a problem..?
thanks.

Hi, Adam. I loved your videos. Very helpful to me as a starter, though I still could use a lot more help.
Anyway, what I was actually gonna ask is that, my tablet, an Acer A500, has a pretty good development going on, and since it has a USB host port, devs have made it possible to use an External 3G USB stick on it. It works pretty well, but having that USB stick on it while using it on the go, is not very user friendly. I was wondering if it is possible to put the stick inside the tablet? I asked you because you said you focus on hardware modding.
One note, I have disassembled the tablet a couple of times, it's quite easy actually. I even painted it . Look here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1588625

Yeah. But youd need schematics. You would take the usb signal and split it before it goes to the usb chip.
just wanted to say I really enjoy your videos, I have learned a lot from them.
Hello sir,
I have followed your work from quite some time, and appreciate it a lot.
I have a Galaxy SL i9003 (OMAP 3630). Device has fair amount of development going on with some great dedicated developers working on it. But from past many days, development has been stopped due to no availability of kernel 3.0 although the sources are available. Devs are unable to continue because they don't know how to work with UART, and cannot build the kernel eventually. I read your guide on UART and thought it would be better to ask you here.
My question is, can you help the devs in any way possible to get the kernel atleast to boot?
The devs have a device ready to donate and can give the device to you if it helps you to develop for that device. Also, i am aware that you concentrate on hardware more and you do not have much free time because of being an elite recognized developer. Sorry if i troubled you or anyone in any way . Thanks.
P.S. - Its a personal question, i don't represent i9003 community.

Thank you for your interest in UART on the i9003. I am experiencing an unusually high PM volume on the i9003 at this time. While I would like to help out on all devices, I simply do not have time. I would recommend checking out some of my posts on utilization of external UART as well as internal uart.
Internal UART is more difficult to locate, but it provides a more permanent solution. External UART is easier to utilize on Samsung devices, but it must be disconnected to upload a new kernel.
Here is a diagram of external USB UART for Samsung devices.Using this diagram you should be able to construct your own UART device.

Watch this video, should explain how to set it up.
You don't install Eclipse, it's a stand alone package rolled up in a zip/tar file. You extract it, double-click on the .exe (if windows) and it will run.

STFU, at the least the guy is trying. Contribute or get out of here.
OP: Are you trying to write apps, or develop ROM / port things for the phone.
If you're trying to write apps, this might a good reference point:
http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/projects/projects-eclipse.html
However, this may not be the right forum if you're trying to learn how to do that.
If you want to make ROMs or port.... that's considerably tougher and you usually don't use Eclipse for that....

Google Search has been most helpful for me for porting MIUI. Also, if you can't find what you're looking for on google, go to webchat.irondust.net and join the #epic room. Devs can help you there, but google first please.

Don't really care about this guy. At least I got my answer. Tysm for the video link. The first thing the video discusses is how confusing it is to get started just trying to download JDK.
Secondly, I plan on first making some basic apps and understanding the way Android works. Then, possibly may go more advanced with themeing and such.
Lastly, I want to point out I'm not alone in this post. YES you can GOOGLE what I asked for in this thread. Hardly any of your search results you get back from Google will be clear and concise and I appreciate some people understanding that not everyone is fluent in the ways of Android development.
I flashed mostly everything interesting on these forums whether its roms or themes or mods. I look up to the developers at ACS among all the others.
I believe this is a relevant post and a lot of people feel the same way I do.
Thank you.
I am also heading down this path. Do you have programming experience?

Theming/ROM/Kernel development are seperate from app development, as I'm sure you are aware. Two different beasts entirely, actually. I would start with ROM and theming ventures first to really learn how the operating system works, then move to kernel development to see how things are actually interacting.
App development is a whole 'nother ballgame, writing apps in Java is really the nitty gritty of the works. To understand this, it would help to know how things in the OS work.

Yes I do. I've had experience in Java it's just been years! But um I don't think the basics of programming will be any trouble. I've already attempted to read up on some Android Programming Tutorials. My main hurdle was getting this set up on my computer so I could follow along with a guide. I do realize themeing and developing are apples and oranges but they are both interesting to me. I read someone's post long ago (not sure who) to begin writing apps and then maybe try one's luck to create ROMs.
Hey bud, congrats on trying to learn this stuff. We at ERA started out just as you did about 3-4 months ago with a similar post. I highly doubt I'll get to that level in that same amount of time but I've flashed everything for this epic and we all know at some point we're going to run out of things to flash until we figure out how to port ICS over. That's the time I would like to be a contributor to the development for this phone. thank you so much for the support!

KANG - To steal or a stolen code when referring to programming. Also can refer to leaked coding.
Due to the copious amounts of kanging that now happens in regards to android development I will be pulling all of my links and changing the original posts with this. If you would like to use my roms please feel free to find the kanged version elsewhere.
For inspiring developers, rtfm or ask someone who knows what they are doing before you steal someone elses work, look at someones code and get the general idea. If you port or use something as a base, credit that person. Do not just link back to the thread where you got it from. My email is [email protected] so feel free to ask questions, if I know the answers I will be willing to assist.
I don't wish to call anyone out but I will say there are a few roms, specifically for MT4G Slide that have been kanged. One of which was taken from me, another was a kanged version of CM7 which was just the Settings.apk SettingsProvider.apk and Launcher.apk replaced. CM7 is framework edits, not just a list of apps an entire team works on. You cannot just replace apps in CyanogenMod and expect it to work thus the reason some parts of the Settings.apk force close. Its not hard to be an idiot but its even easier to spot bull**** work, do yourselves a favor, leave xda, leave rootzwiki, leave whatever thread you are on and learn from people who know what the fk they're doing.
If my email fills with hate mail, then fine, at least what I did I feel was right and do not have to worry about my development being taken and rebadged, if I'm out of line then have a moderator delete and close my thread. Thanks!
I have learned a whole lot from you, and couldn't imagine missing them "classes"

Flipboard for Android, set to be a temporary exclusive for Samsung's Galaxy S III, isn't yet available through any official means. But users who installed a build of the app that was unceremoniously ripped from Samsung's upcoming handset are today receiving notification of an available update, from none other than Flipboard itself. Version 1.8.4 is now appearing as an in-app over-the-air upgrade, with release notes indicating that it addresses a startup crash on an unspecified "older version of Android." Reports of successful installations are mixed however, with some users saying the update goes through without a hitch, and others being met with errors.
The update doesn't necessarily indicate that Flipboard is endorsing the leaked build of its app, but it would seem the company is already looking ahead to the day Samsung's exclusivity window wraps up.

Thats correct new flipboard 1.8.4 working so smooth than initial version for Android.
Is anyone having a problem with the flipping animation? When you flip up, the content in the page goes away until you get to the next article.

Not in favour of any fights, so stop it guys... amit just mention the source in first post from where you got the app and as now u have removed "u extracted it from s3", everything is resolved now...
But as a word for future reference "Even if u r not a developer, it isn't wise to claim others work as yours, Mentioning the source doesn't leaves your thread useless "

I am planning to get one but cant decide what to look for. Tab 2 has a 4000 mAh battery. there were some with 5000 mAh capacity.
Moreover our device takes 2A at 5V for charging, anything less than that would mean a very very long time to charge.
So I would wondering if anyone has any experience with that..

I'm planning on building one with a solar charger, but that will have to wait until after I finish the Heads Up Display I'm building for my car with a Raspberry Pi.
WTF Happened in the CM10.1 thread today??
I get home and there's like 40 new posts and everybody's all fired up...
My 5 cents('cause there's no penny in canada anymore):
It is one thing to report an issue and ask for support. This can be helpful and constructive.
It is completely another thing to make demands of ANYONE here. No one on XDA is getting paid for anything that they are sharing here. They do this for one of two reasons; First if you are doing any work XDA Forums are a great troubleshooting tool, even if the final goal is to turn a profit, as a user/tester you get to use their software free, its win/win man. Second you may, like me, just love trying new things and challenging what is possible even if you do not own the device, and your only reward is knowing "I did it".
When users make demands instead of useful posts it does make one feel much less like sharing. I have been a member here since 2008 but my first post was not until 2012 because between the search function and being able to make certain leaps of faith there has not been one time that I couldn't find the answer, even if it wasn't the answer I was looking for (I think of it as gaining "The Knowledge" to where I felt my opinion was valid, but that's my own hangup). To my point, I was too nervous to share anything I had created because I felt like two things would happen. It would be ridiculed and torn apart due to my lack of knowledge, and whiny "users" would rain all over my parade, pointing out the most miniscule flaw.(Never even mind, demanding that I fix it!) I personally think I have never been the first person to report a bug on anything I have tried. I assume that it is my own lack of knowledge that has led to the failure and set about trying to solve MY problem. I will admit that when reading a thread with a post reporting a problem that I too have experienced, I may chime in to report that I am in the same boat, but only if it can be accompanied by advice as to how I am either working around it, or on it. If I've got nothing constructive to add a simple click on the "thanks" button of the original post reporting the problem is enough to let most OP's know that another user shares the issue.
Please can we all just try to keep our posts constructive and honest, keeping in mind the nature of the forum which you are posting in.
The snippets that were left after Siberian Tiger cleaned up were still enough to paint a pretty terrible picture. For a short time today this was not a "Community" in any way. And users need to know that if they will not act as a member of a community they will quickly find themselves unwelcome in it.
Blah! That got too wordy, sorry. And thank you if you actually read this far. And sorry again because I know that reads condescending and I feel a little like a DB, but its from the heart. I still kinda feel ****ty, usually writing makes it better...
Love XDA, and xda users. I have seen some pretty amazing developments over the years, impossible is nothing here.
Chris
Edit: I just want to add that codeworkx latest CM10.1 with ketut.kumajaya's oc'd kernel is my best android experience yet, on any device. Book it. That's the collaborative nature I'm talkin' about! Thanks again.
I regret buying my tab 2 10.1. It's a great tablet but there's not much support on it and I could have bought the note 10.1 for a little more ;(

Hey guys!
I wear a Beltone hearing aid and they recently came out for an app that let's my hearing aid connect with a Galaxy S5 so I can control the volume level and various other things. I do not have a S5 and they have told us it could be awhile until it's available for other devices.
I know it's a long shot, but I was hoping someone could download the "Beltone HearPlus" app and make a titanium backup so I can try installing it on my Nexus. It's worth noting that there are TWO "Beltone" hearing aid apps and only one of them is what i'm looking for.
There is the "Beltone Smart Remote" app and that is NOT the one I need. That app is available for any device to download. The one i'm looking for is specifically the "Beltone HearPlus" app.
If anyone is willing to help me with this I would happily PayPal you $10 for your time whether it works or not.
Thanks in advance!!!!! :cyclops:
From my reserch the app that you are trying to find is for the iPhone only as of now. They did release the news that it will be coming to android bit not until February of 2015. Maybe you're thinking of some built in functionality with the s5?

They've actually said on their blog that the HearPlus app is available on the GS5:
January 14, 2015 by Ask Beltone
We are thrilled to announce that Android® Samsung® Galaxy S5 users now have access to the same discreet and customized hearing experience as iOS users with the new Beltone HearPlus™ Android app!

There already is an app in play store, called Beltone SmartRemote, but it's not the same app.
I'm guessing either they're releaseing HearPlus in the coming days and jumped the gun on publishing the news.
Or HearPlus for S5 really is out, but only in the Samsung/Galaxy appstore and/or only in the US.

Here's my suggestion to anyone who wants to help and has an S5 and lives in the US:
1 On your S5 search for Beltone or HearPlus in Play store and in Samsung Apps / Galaxy Apps
2 If you find app share APK here
PS. OP NEXT TIME ASK YOUR QUESTIONS IN THE QUESTIONS & ANSWERS, HELP & TROUBLESHOOTING SECTION THAT'S WHAT IT'S THERE FOR!

What is the point of you repeating what others have said?
It's already been said, you don't need to waste time and effort on repeating it.
Especially when it's incorrect, as far as the february release myth goes.
Beltone has already said on their official blog that HearPlus is out now on the S5.
Not SmartRemote which is old news and I've also just posted a link to the playstore, there's no need for an apk.

What's your point? I got that link for the app off the beltone site where the announcement was made. Figured I would toss it up if its something he's unable to get from his local. But next time I'll ignore the post because I might get a snarky comment from some douche in sweden.... I searched the American Galaxy app store BTW and came up with the same result. The app I listed.

First you repeat a false statement, then you post an apk which is available for everyone and has already been linked to.
Then you claim you "tried" "looking around". If you really did try looking around (or reading literally the post above yours) then you'd refrain from making your useless posts (you have added zero to this thread) or post something that's actually useful.
Fun fact, the app I posted before you (Beltone SmartRemote) isn't even in Galaxy Apps you silly lying rabbit.

Yeah I rather be "the man on a forum thread" than a compulsive liar like you.

That app isn't even in Galaxy Apps. Liar. And I linked to it before you, which proves you added zero. Now I'm just bashing you because you keep compulsively lying :good: :silly:

Doesn't make me any less right. And I did actually give all the info there is, correct and official info. The guy before me didn't have a clue and the guy after me didn't either but he really likes to think "who cares it's only a forum". I would be willing to play around and see if we can get it to work
