How to get into flashing/recovery mode

1) Turn off and remove battery
2)Put the battery back in and immediately hold the back button
3) Plug in the USB cable while still holding the back button
4)Your screen will remain black, but its in recovery mode, and the flashing software should detect it
Source: Sony Update Service, I installed it and it told me to do just that to get into the recovery mode
Looks like were one step closer into getting the X10 rooted

It does - it just doesn't display the things we are used to with HTC phones for instance.
This is SE's standard flashing method(and recovery mode). It's the same for their WinMo phones and for Symbian.
It puts the phone in a special flash mode ready to accept a new ROM/flash.
As OP mentioned the screen will remain black throughout the process.

shud try fastboot when its in flash mode..

Yes. You can backup sms from the Messaging application by pressing the menu-button while in thread mode. And use MyBackup to backup settings, apps and everything you need on the SD-card or online.

Would this still work if the phone isn't being recognized by the computer? (correct drivers etc are installed).
I have an xperia Ray, so I assume it's the same method... I get no response from plugging it into usb or charger, it won't turn on, although sometimes if I hold the power button it gives a brief vibration. I think it might be bricked :-/

Looking for help... X10 bricked and tried everything.

Hi,
About a week ago I checked my Rogers X10 to see if there was any software update. It said that I had the most current version. I went to hit the ok key and instead hit the key to reload software. It started to reload and then crashed part way through.
I tried to repair with PC Companion but it crashes near the end of the repair and says retry or contact support. The retry did not work.
I tried through SEUS to load the software and it gets near the end and aborts.
I tried flashing with the 2.9.1 flashtool and the 3.0 flashtool no luck.
I tried firmware X10a generic .435. It aborted part way through the flash.
I tried the X10a AT&T gingerbread firmware. It flashes and says completed, unplug, start your X10, etc. The first time it did this the AT&T world screen starts to come up and then reboots and gets stuck in a constant reboot cycle. I tried flashing again and it aborted. I went to PC Companion and tried repair again and it aborted. I tried 2.9.1 flashtool and tried the gingerbread flash again and the 2.1 generic flash. The 2.1 aborts, the gingerbread says it loads but when you power up, you feel the vibrate like a normal power on but the screen stays blank. If you try to reflash gingerbread twice in a row it aborts the second time. generic .435 aborts everytime.
I have tried every combination of PC Companion repair and update, SEUS update, Flashtool's and firmwares I can think of. The best I can do is to get the gingerbread to say it loaded fine but it will not boot. Everything else aborts in the update or flash stage.
ANY HELP would be appreciated.

Use Update Service not PC companion. If Update Service does not work, re-install it and try again. should work. downlaod link i could find: http://sony-ericsson-update-service.en.uptodown.com/download

those probably phone hardware issue. SE service center might able to solve this.

[Tutorial] Unbrick bricked (unlocked bootloader) Phones

This tutorial will fix your unlocked Phones which got bricked through OTA update and are dead now!
I have Xperia neo v i unlocked its bootloader unofficially from s1tools,
When i updated the phone through wifi, it wont start then i made this
trick to unbrick the phone..!​
Step 1: Download s1tools here and extract.
Step 2: Remove your phones battery and reinsert it.
Step 3:Open s1tool and click on identify now connect your phone and follow the instruction
(For NEO V press and hold back button and u will see the following message as shown in screenshot)

Step 4: When u got above message click on 'RESTORE' when the restore process completes remove the cable and reinsert your phone battery.
Step 5: Downlaod flashtool here and 4.0.2.A.0.62 Firmware here and extract it.
(Note:for flashtool tutorial click here)
Step 6: Flash the .tft file according to the tutorial and restart your phone, your phone will definitely start
(Note: After restoring, your phones bootloader will be locked, again u have to unlock to install custom kernels or roms.)

Weird the only thing that shows up are the two boxes, (left,right). as far as buttons go you only get "Do Job, stop, quit". Looks nothing like what you have posted..

the flashtools is aborting.. stating to turn on usbdebugging and unknown sources

Let it extract to a destination of your choice.
After that run Flashtool.exe.
Now hit the button FLASH and select the package which is included.
Follow the steps and connect your phone in flashmode. This is the same mode Pc Companion and SEUS uses to flash your phone to newer firmare (Indicated by green LED), if you got BLUE LED you are in the wrong mode!
Flashtool will now detect your phone and start the repair.
After all is done your phone should be up and running again.
ADVICE:
PLEASE DO NOT ACCEPT ANY OTA'S ! If you receive a OTA message just decline, if you accept it you will end with a brick AGAIN! So please do NOT accept them until SonyEricsson provides a OTA solution for unlocked Bootloaders!

[Q] Please help me for unbrick my D802

Hi all,
I am so sad and feel myself as a idiot.
I had D802int version of G2 with rooted and PhilZ Touch recovery which is based on CWM.
Due to not deliveried to my country of KitKat i tried to update my phone with this guide
Everythings were fine. After that i tried to change my TRWP recovery with CWM for external usb storage to restore my nandroid backup and i follow this guide
But I think missed some instruction so my phone stayed in black screen with LG logo (bootlogo - no animation just frozen)
When I try recovery mod it says Secure: Booting error Cause: Boot certification verify on white screen and reset rapidly.
So i check several topics and i applied also download mod and back to stock (kdz uploader method)
For download mod it couldnt jump 2nd step stayed in like this

He just stated that he can go to download mode.
OP your issue is drivers. The phone is not connected to the pc. Try uninstalling and reinstalling drivers and see if that help

unfortunately pc connot recognize so i couldnt install drivers.
So what happened: recovery mod fail, download mod fail, boot fail, pc dont recognize phone
It was terrible but this topic save my life

Custom Binary (SYSTEM) Blocked by OEM lock

hey guys i recently had an update on my s10+ and mid through the update the phone just powered off(it was plugged to the charger) and since then ive been stuck on a blue screen saying i have to use the emergency recovery function in the smart switch pc app so i downloaded the app and tried to do that but the app wont recognize my phone. i searched all over the internet i tried flashing with odin a previous version and even the version it was trying to update to but it all failed. it gets stuck around 50% through the install and just sits there for hours without continuing. i am hopeless and have no idea what else i can do i even took the phone to a repair shop and they also failed to fix this problem. my last resort would be changing motherboard but i doubt its worth it. anyone has ideas what else i can do in order to fix this issue?

no i am unable to get into download mode i tried everything possible but the phone wont respond its stuck on a blue screen saying " An error has occurred while updating the device software. use the Emergency recovery function in the smart switch pc software.
also the phone only power on when its plugged to charger or a pc but it has battery for sure

Not sure if you've tried this but maybe it will work...
1) Hold bixby, volume down and while holding these, put the usb-c cable in the s10 when connected to the PC. This will (hopefully) get you into download mode if the other method fails
2)If Odin is still recognizing your phone, you have hope.
3)Make sure you use the latest version of Odin. I have previously tried to flash a new firmware with an old Odin and failed
4)Once you have the right Odin, try flash the latest stock firmware you can find. You may not be able to downgrade once upgraded
