I just recently flashed CM7 and i tried installing amazon mp3 player from the market to access my mp3 on the cloud but after installation the amazon mp3 player wont open up and keeps on having force close. Tried unsintalling and reinstalling still not working. I also tried pushing using adb still no avail. Also switched language setting still no luck .Please advice.

Hey guys, I have a problem when installing new apps or doing updates.
When I try to install new apps (angry birds Rio) it will download but not install, it has done this on other apps too. I have deleted apps to make room and done a factory reset and its still not working.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Have you tried to wipe the marked data from application settings? Don't know if it's going to help, but it's no harm in trying
Does it give you an error message when it gets to the install process? You could try unmounting the SD card temporarily before you try installing apps, this solved the only problem I've had installing apps from the Market.

Settings - applications - all aplications, locate marked and wipe all the data. Next time you start marked you should have to agree with terms as you did the first time.
Tried that mate, still not working

I've had this happen in the past and the only way I could get around this issue was to delete the file 'Smdl2tmp1.asec'
To do this, connect your phone to a PC and use Windows Explorer to search for the file. You will need to set Windows Explorer to read hidden files for it to find this file.
Hope this works for you too.

If the apps download but don't install you can install them manually. Using any file manager head to /cache/download , here you will see all the apps you tried installing recently. They don't have useful names but the icons should help you remember what they are.
Find the package and install it manually.

Right I sorted it. I took out the sd card and it installed it for some reason

Hi guys,
I have rooted my kindle fire with burritoroot and i got the market to work with openmarket. I am able to log in successfully and hit install on several apps. They sit at download starting. I have rebooted several times. Any ideas on a fix. I have also tried the web store and the same result.
Thanks
Update, I have also tried it at work and I am still getting the same problem with the download just sitting at starting download.
Go to applications, and select the market. Then clear Data.
Try it again.

I tried this and still the same result, I also went on my home router and forwarded port 5228 because I read on several sites that is the port that the android market uses.
I use many android devices in the same site without having to forward anything. I doubt that is your issue.

Ok, I was just trying to rule out anything on the my network end while trying to troubleshoot the device.
Would i be able to download apps from the android market on my computer and transfer them to my fire?
I am going to try putting the google talk app on the fire and seeing if i can sign in to see if that fixes the issue. I have read in many places that it fixes it for many android phones.

You may be using an older version of the market. The instrucions say to use vending.apk, but I actually ended up having to use com.amarket.apk. A lot of people were having this issue. Repeat the data/cache wipe after installing the new one.

Yes, or just pull them from your phone. Dropbox is very handy for sideloading apps. Just make sure you have installation of unknown sources enabled under Settings>More>Device
I see you're new to the forums. Please remember to use the search as often as possible. I know there is a lot of stuff to sift through, but creating threads for questions that have answers readily available makes it that much harder to find substantive info. Plus you'll miss out on all the fun of trial and error.
should i uninstall market opener and vending.apk before i install the the other market app?

Oh ok I was going to suggest turning off the firewall to download but nevermind. Its almost definitely the vending.apk vs com.amarket.apk issue. I had a similar problem. Also, for some reason File Expert would not keep the permissions changed when I changed them. I sideloaded Root Explorer and it worked like a charm. Good luck getting it working.

Hi all can someone help me get my BBC iplayer working again.
I installed flash player 11 and now BBC iplayer does not work,
I am still on the stock rom not rooted .
Thanks in advance
Amazons customer service is decent what did they say?
Sent from my Kindle Fire using xda premium
Apparently, when you install the adobe flash player, it has been set as a default player for your KF. To allow other players, you need to go to system setup then select application management then select flash player then deactivate the default option.
After you comlete the above step, you have two players and the system will prompt you to select which player when you ask to play any thing. Do not select a default option if you want to use both of them.

Hi everyone I'm new to nexus 7
I have unlocked BL and root installed cwm and i have just updated to SmoothROM-v3.2 via too.I'm but I have a problem that has occurred I can't download anything via any browser or even attachments via xda please can someone help
Sent from my Nexus 7 using XDA Premium HD app
Same over here.I am running stock android (unlocked, rooted, cwm).
And i can't download anything from a custom app or browser (chrome doesn't work either)
But I've figured out that by changing the download directory to storage/sdcard0 you can download anything you want. But you can only do this with opera or dolphin browser. In my case I can't even delete my files (except for files located in storage/sdcard).I tried it with my computer but it didn't work either.I am also getting error message 492 in the play store.
I tried everything (delete (dalvik) cache, reset my system etc.) but it didn't helped.
I am also having a download issue. It seems like ever since I updated to Smooth Rom 7.8 via Goo Manager (might be coincidence) and now I can't download from Goo (I get "errored download") and when I try to download from a browser it says "unable to download". I can download apps via Play Store w/ no issue. I think it may have to do w/ permissions? or path issues? Also I restored back to when everything was working and now the issue follows. Anyone?
I also flashed smooth ROM.But now i'm on stock again and it didn't helped.I also noticed that i only can't download huge apps propabally because they need to save data on your sdcard.(with small apps like angry birds i have no problems). So it definetldy has to do something with permissions and path issues. But i have no idea how to fix that.Any ideas?

When I try to download or update some app over WiFi. Google play will show the error "package file is invalid" but when I install using cellular it doesn't has this ploblem
Tried restart, clear cache, data of Google play but nothing better.
Any help?

I got that error about a year ago on my sgs2. At that time it had something to do with the app trying to install on my external SD card. Not sure if that helps you out in this case though.
If i remember correctly i had to do something with permissions in my case.

First I would test it on a different WiFi LAN. I have seen "Content Filtering Software" mess with software packages before. Try local coffee shop WiFi. Second, if you have a custom ROM, check if others have the same issue.

Heard it was your router's fault. I tried cleaning dalvik but still i get this occasional inavlid package while downloading apps

Okay, I've had this issue off and on for several weeks. This past week, it's been ON and nothing, and I mean none of the prescriptions I found worked.
FINALLY I tried one more self prescribed pill.
In Titanium Backup I first thought I could freeze the app and try installing as if it were new. That didn't work because the Play Store still sees that app but as disabled.
Still in TiBu, I did a Backup>Verify>Uninstall, went to Play and VOILA!! I was able to download again without the error.
I too had this issue. I could not even pull my 4.2.2 update...
I am Belgian and I bought my Nexus on the German Play Store. When I used the VPN settings I used to order the device, it works; if I don't, it doesn't. Ergo, there had to be some configuration on the phone indicating it was "supposed" to be used on the German play store.
So I unlocked the bootloader (fastboot oem unlock) and flashed the factory image on it. You can get these from Google, search for it and you will find them. XDA does not allow me to post a link because I don't have sufficient posts...
Anyway, now it works perfectly. No problems at all.
If you have this problem, this is the way to go!
I just resolved my problem "Package file is invalid."
Download Hideman VPN from Play Store, Market or Google it "Hideman VPN.apk" --> Install --> Open --> Tap Connect and enjoy downloading million of apps again without getting any type of error.

Hideman VPN Worked for me on my WIFI but there is something going on today with play store/play services. There is another forum of 497 errors which I had before I ended up here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44367779
