[Q] RMT alert just popped up on my phone - Droid X General

it claims to be a test alert that I've never seen appear on my phone, the initial google search I did has it as some alert system that Verizon rolled out in 2003 which makes sense since Obama just landed at SFO, then a little more searching and others are saying it's a scam.
so... anyone else have a real idea what it is?

I would Personally
I would just let it go for now there are a lot of government warnings that can go out that are partnered with Verizon. Run your virus program on your phone if clean i wouldn't worry unless it happens again.

I got the alert also. It is from the Emergency Alerts program (current version is 2.3.3). Verizon put it on your phone. If you're rooted, you can freeze/uninstall/delete it and do away with the "mandatory" alerts. I did.

I also got the alert which freaked me out. In the details it said that it was a test alert and a few other random fun lines like "immediate danger" or at least I think it said that.

It is the Obama alert network. Google PLAN. It it's a new government alert system. You can disable 2 of the 3 types of alerts. Amber and regional emergency can be disabled. You can't disable presidential alerts.
He is getting us ready for the zombie apocalypse. Or December 21.

Thanks everyone for the replies... Yeah it was the obama alert

The Sprint Hero Lost SMS Debacle

I was all set to finally take the plunge and sign a contract with Sprint for the new Hero - just waiting for my prepaid cellphone account to run out of money. Now more and more reports have started coming in about the Sprint Hero and its issues with losing SMS, and possible MMS too. Some sauces:
Engadget's questioning > and the scary responses: http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/26/htc-hero-having-intermittent-text-messaging-problems/
Sprint Community's ongoing thead: http://community.sprint.com/baw/thread/22913?tstart=0
SprintUser.com's ongoing thead (there are many): http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=195769
Slightly older but still the same problem from here from XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=572134
A few observations (feel free to add your own):
-UK/GSM Hero users are experiencing this, though to a much lesser extent
-A common, but not completely sweeping assessment is that affected users are using task killer programs or did at one time, even before a hard reset
-Soft resets tend to help the problem, though only temporarily (for some)
-People are getting the same issues on brand new phones that they exchanged for old ones.
Any thoughts? Do you have any personal experiences with this? I'm hoping to hold out till HTC/Sprint releases a patch or some sort of announcement about this problem but in the meantime, what has your experience, as a CDMA/Sprint Hero user, been like in regards to losing/delayed SMS and MMS messages?
From my experiance running Hero on the G1 lost text messages were due to the messeges app failing due to many things running and causing it to crash.
I can't speak for the sprint Hero, though I have not experienced any lost text messages I am aware of.
Maybe its a network issue?
I actually experienced it once. From what it appears, I downloaded a task manager and selected to kill all running apps. After I rebooted my phone though I have yet to experience any text message loses. Originally I was blaming it on a 3rd party messaging service, however now I really think it was as a result of killing the messaging app. This happened about a week and a half ago and so far *knocks on wood* have not experienced any other issues. Aside from that, I still love my hero. I honestly think that it is the best phone I have ever owned.
My biggest issue with SMS messages is that I've had up to a 3-4 minute delay between the timestamp on the message and when i get the notification. But AFAIK, I haven't lost any messages.
I think its a great phone so far. If Android keeps picking up as it appears to be, I think it can trump apple and iphone.
I have not lost any texts. I tested with texts to and from different carriers and area codes. I have not run any task killers. For what it's worth, I have not had any of the battery problems that people have run into either.
i had lost all of my SMS messages on my Sprint Hero after i installed Handcent SMS and used it for a couple days ( which so happened to be exactly a week after i bought the phone the messages were gone)
your sms's are still there, but they are in your messenger app, handcent doesn't access stuff that's already there, just the new stuff comming in. I don't belive it's possible to import the sms's that are already there, or at least there's not a known procedure on how to do so.
you can access them if you pull up your original messenger app, just no way to import/export. Sorry, probably not the answer you were looking for, but it is the correct one.
I had this problem when I first got my Hero, no text messages were being received, third party SMS app or not. My Hero said 'with Google' on the back. I exchanged it for one that just says 'htc', haven't had the problem since.
im worried
ive had the phone for 2 weeks.three days later i got the dreaded calls from friends and girlfriend that i havent been answering back to text. ive installed handcent sms and smstomailbox. from then on the problem has stopped.although i have sent myself some text and im yet to receive them no one has told me they cannot contact me. i just moved to sprint because i recently got a job as an assistant. my boss contacts me strictly through text. (you can imagine the magnitude of this issue) after all the forums ive read, i dont know what to do regarding this. my 30 days is almost up. i cant imagine a patch is not already on the works, but ive read this has been a known problem for some time. with Htc pumping out phones by the dozen and 1.6. / 2.0 updates taking the spotlight, i wonder if i should return my phone. the phone is real nice and i dont want a flimsy pre. seems too much stress for a device you pay good money for.i have the sprint hero with the "with google" in the back. seems like a bad time to get a phone with sprint since theres no news on wether this phone will be upgradeable or patched and the other phones are going to get upgraded soon. (HD2)
!!!
on another thread someone posted that the problem had been acknowledged . the post pointed to a flaw in the sms app that did not send a "memory full" notification back to the sms database server. so it seems theres a limit to the sms app capacity and it kinda locks down or something along those lines. lol (sorry ill post the link when i find it again) in other news 2.0 is coming to the hero. so i guess ill deal with the issues till then.
I purchased a Hero on launch day [early run device, without 'with Google' branding, only 'HTC' on the back cover] and quickly encountered the intermittent text message delivery debacle.
Bottom line, there were extended periods of time in which text messages being sent to me were simply not appearing on my phone. [Side note, this includes individuals both on and off the Sprint Network.] Turning the phone off and on usually alleviated the non-delivery / appearance problem but any messages sent during that time were gone. There was no flood of messages post restart.
I should note that on two occasions I did notice that I had received a text in the top notification bar but when I opened the Messaging App, the text was no where to be found.
It appears that the messages may indeed have been delievered... but the app is 'eating' them, so to speak. This *could* explain why on Sprint's end, everything looks fine on the network... or so I was told, which I believe.
My temp solution, as advised by forum / discussion posts by other Hero users was to install an alt Messaging App [I used Handcent SMS] and use this rather than the stock Messaging app. Additionally, I added 'SMS To Mail Lite' which forwarded a copy of my incoming texts to an email address. I experienced no intermittent outages / delivery failures / abductions at all. Both Handcent and the email inbox matched. While this 'worked' I was unable to replicate the bug but since I was using Handcent this might have been why.
Later, after spending some time on the phone w/Sprint Advanced Tech Support, they determined it was not a network issue and was due to the phone itself [as their system showed all my messages being delivered]. They set up a trouble ticket and I was able to swap my Hero for a new one at my local store. Caveat, I was still under the 30 day trial which made things much easier when I got to the store.
I was told by Advanced Tech Support that HTC has recognized this intermittent text delivery issue and they are working on a solution. I only mention 'Advanced' b/c the first individual I spoke with from regular Text Messaging Support had zero knowledge of this issue and was quick to deny any problems whatsoever. No one at the store knew anything about it either, but I wasn't expecting it. So if you speak with anyone at Sprint, expect that they might not know yet and be nice. You might even get a replacement phone.
Currently, I'm still using Handcent and really like it. Tried ChompSMS but just prefer the other. They're on par w/one another so be sure to check them both out if you prefer to go this route. Also, I used the 'My Backup Pro' app to restore my new phone to the original configuration. Certainly worth the $5.
Hope this helps.

SMS Delivery Report

Hello!
Do you know of any software for our HD2, that will change the behavior of receiving sms delivery reports?
My Blackberry has an icon, that just changes, if a message has been delivered successfully. Even after 6 month i can see, if a message has been delivered.
I don't like the windows mobile default behavior of creating a "system message" that needs to be marked as unread ans so on.
Who can help me?
Sebastian
SMS delivery reports are a network thing. Call your operator and ask about them being turned off.

This is not exactly what he means.
He means that once the option is enabled, he wants the software to have some sort of icon that will be put next to the message that has been sent once a delivery report comes in. The current situation, however, is that the delivery report will be put into the conversation as a 'new sms' and therefore is less practical.
I am also curious about this, however I don't think this is actually something a program can change for you, as it'd require HTC messaging client modifications. It's just the way Windows Mobile 6.x handles these reports.
Ahhhh I see. I wasn't aware of the icon thingy in the RIM OS (or whatever bberrys run on...)
I was mainly pointing out that windows mobile does not create a system message
"I don't like the windows mobile default behavior of creating a "system message"
and that it is in fact the carrier that generates the message.
Yet another tid bit to add to the hoarde of useless information clogging my brain.

I have the same issue, any hint?
I am interesed for this too
I have also been searching a long time for the same feature as most of the others here.
In my opinion it worked actually much better in WM6 where it just popped up a system message that the SMS had been delivered.
I will be keeping an eye on this thread hoping someone has a good idéa.

You just can turn off sms delivery report without hesitating. If the sms can't be delivered you'll get notification. If there's a silence than it's been delivered. Something like this...

not as simple as that, , , say i send you a txt, and your phone is turned off, , i wont get a failure, because it HAS been delivered to your service center, but you haven't yet received it, , , so relying on NOT getting a failure to tell you its been delivered is useless.
To answer original old question a perfect & very configurable software exists for WM & is called SMS reports eraser.
automatically moves reports so you just get the notification icon & sound if wanted, pretty much blackberry style.
Works perfect & you still have reports for future reference ...

Any anti-stealing apps?

I'm wondering if there's any apps for HD2 that works like "mobile defense" for android that can track the cellphone via a computer and activate the stolen device's GPS to track it.
F-Secure Anti-Theft for Mobile
Here's a very recent freebie from F-Secure
(Anti-Theft for Mobile)
http://www.f-secure.com/en_EMEA/products/mobile/anti-theft-for-mobile/index_main.html
Remote Tracker - Antitheft Software
Here's another one;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=394203
Can any of this be activated or monitored by remote PC??? Cuz i actually have a block message service for my cell phone account.
Im using Lookout for mobile
https://www.mylookout.com/
"remotetracker" (no space is intentional)
this is the only anti theft that i managed to install. the other are all too compilcated.
will notify on sim change. sms command are case sensitive. locate command will always tell location unavailable even when google map locked on gps.

F-Secure sms to finland?
I've had F-secure anti-theft in my phone for a while now. The txt location service works great, and last month I tried changing the sim, and guess what, got a sms on my backup phone with the new sim's phone number, which is exactly what it is supposed to do.
However, i checked my itemized bill today, and see the program sent an sms to Finland immediately after texting me. The number was 358400112368 . Googled this number and only got two vague references to f-secure on a nokia. Why in the world would they need to txt their mothership about my sim? Anyone else using f-secure anti-theft? Please check your bill and let us know if it sent a txt to finland.
As far as using other similar programs:
Mylookout : never worked for me, website says searching, and times out.
remotetracker : Stay away from this program!! its txt request uses no password, so anyone who knows you have the program installed can secretly monitor you via sms. An intentional oversight from the developer perhaps? And pretty malicious at that too! Edit: got it, see post below.
ms myphone : free version can only check the daily sync log. I cannot initiate a location search unless i pay, or am I doing it wrong?
so, anyone with f-secure got the txt to 358400112368? I guess this post will be the only 3rd google search result for this number?

yes it does, if you dont set a password then yes, anyone can control it, , but set a password and it doesnt respond to control txts without it.

my bad. thanks Samsamuel for the correction. i re-read the first whole page of that remoteTracker thread and the word "password" was never mentioned in his post or instructions.
as far as my original question regarding F-secure, anybody else see the outgoing text to finland when they change SIMs?
no worries.
i for one can't rate remotetracker highly enough. i cook my own rom, so its cooked in complete with settings, so its completely hard reset safe. only way to stop it working is by flashing.
that random text you mention sounds a little iffy, you tried emailing them? see what they have to say?
another vote for remotetracker.
It found my phone when left in a taxi
the F-Secure thing looks nice, i think im gonna try it this evening
lets see if it really sends a sms to finnland xD
I came across this thread, and just downloaded (didn't install yet) the f-secure app.
A couple things I don't understand.
I believe I have read posts here about needing a "backup mobile number", for the company to send SMS to, if something suspicious is happening with the phone.
But what if one only has one mobile number, no backup? Is the app then useless? (Couldn't there be an e-mail, or a call to the landline?)
Also, I see that besides giving this app away, F-Secure sells "mobile secuirty". (I guess that means anti-virus and such. Is that really necessary? I have never used an AV on my phone before, and never had a problem with that AFAIK.)
With the post about the SMS to Finland (probably company headquarters), it occurs to me, they may give away this anti-theft app, in order to get your phone #, and send you text messages advertising their AV app? I wouldn't want to get spammed with text messages. Has that happened to anyone using this?
remotetracker can send email
i've changed sim few time. fsecure only send sms to the assigned number (i know, i've itemized billing, and i can send sms internationally).
anyway, since it can never reply with correct location, and i've already figured out how to use remotetracker, i'm ditching it too. plus, fsecure will always pop up with it stupid checking for update while i'm using my phone. can't it check quietly?

see my previous post. it always say location not available.
I just tried lookout. I like it more than remotetracker because it's easier to use (the online "dashboard" makes it easy). The thing I hated the most about remotetracker (and other apps dealing with coded SMS) is that I would have to use an authorized phone and the proper codes to do whatever I need to do. At least with lookout, I can just go online and kill all my data and locate my phone.
I tested the "locate" feature. It found my phone in 2 minutes, but it was a little over one mile away from my phone!
The "scream" feature: It's a loud firetruck-type siren...it was a little bad because San Bruno, CA (one city away from me) had a horrible fireball accident a couple of days ago.
I guess it does its job. The locate feature is decent, but to think that it was off by 1-mile, it could make a difference in a big city.

[Q] Issue with txts going to the wrong person magically...?

When you have a text log with the original person? I have noticed it shows up in the notification tray under 1 name and then under the actual msg app its to the right person but it makes me scared at times who the last txt REALLY went too..
In the stock messaging app (all I use) Ill start a txt conversation with person x then down the line it'll send the next to person y... idk if it was a confusion between the linked fbook accounts but it almost got me in trouble so now for safety sake I dont have fbook linked to contacts...
Anyone notice this or is it just me?
Sorry to hear this. If its the same two contacts each time, I'd suspect your two contacts may have automatically linked or merged phone numbers. Inspect each one's details for the other's phone number. For example, I found that two contacts who shared the same email were merged, completely deleting one's name entirely.
I'm using Handcent myself so not sure if this would be related, but I've found that text messages received from one particular number (my bank's alerts) always appear as another contact (a friend) in the initial pop-up alert but then appear correctly in Handcent's actual message threads. I've since swapped and rebuilt the handset to no avail. This issue remains a mystery.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
not the same contact. Thats what I originally thought it was something merged weird but its random. so I am not too sure but it makes me whery what I send to certain ppl. For some reason im friends with enemies of the other friend so saying 1 thing starts a fight btwn the 2.. lol I cant win.
same problem, HTC EVO, seems like it goes to a random person, facebook contact or not.
This is a huge problem and is related to the Android platform, not just the Vibrant. You can find more information in the following two links:
1. www.google.com.vn/support/forum/p/android/thread?tid=345259e6d424bad3&hl=en
2. http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=9392
The best thinking that we have on the problem so far is that it is in the ComposeMessageActivity.java file. But it would be great to get more eyes looking over the code to try to get this one licked.
Note: A 3rd party app may make the situation better, but will not resolve it. Best solution is that if you receive a text or e-mail message (or anything that plays with the notification bar or takes focus from what you're typing), quit your message and start over.
This scares the hell out of me. Is there any specific instance when this always happens?
Strange, never had this problem and I've been using Android since the G1. There must be something you are doing or a setting you have that specifically triggers it.
There's nothing related to Facebook - I don't have anything linked on my phone. And I never had this issue on my G1, but I also didn't start screwing with the Vibrant until recently, so it's not something I'm "doing" - it's happened within weeks of getting the Vibrant on launch day.
It can be quite scary. Luckily my friends getting msgs meant for my wife hasn't bit me in the ass yet. But if it ever gets mixed up going to a female friend, I could see this not working out in my best interests, ya know?
-bZj
I've had the same problem on my vibrant and my g1. What I've noticed is that if I send a nescafe to person A then receive a message from person B and access that message by using the notification bar and answer person B, the message can go to person A (the last person I sent to.) I've found that if I remember to not use the notification bar and only access messaging by using the icon, I haven't had the problem. Not the best solution but at least it seems to work.
This could be bad
This could be bad especially if you have more than one girlfriend
Omg glad im not the only one. Had to couch it one night cuz of this issue. Now i only text my girl from my phone. Everyone else i text through gv lol.
I use the notification bar all the time and occasionally reply to the weekend person but that's just because I didn't press on the right notification...
yea i had this happen to me as well. luckily or unluckily a txt i was sending to a girl whom i was fooling around with got sent to a girl i had just met 3 days prior. after that needless to say she wouldnt talk to me waa waaa. it was prob a random bug introduced in earlier builds.. say around a month and a half ago. oh yea i had about 12 threads running around 50 a piece.. maybe that had something to do with that and maybe the random stuttering of the vibrant when too many programs are running. Havent had that happen again thankfully but one would have to say.. slow down on the texting sometimes lol

The evidence seems to suggest that the problem is in the ComposeMessageActivity.java file, which means it is not SMS Client related. Said differently, using a 3rd party SMS client might reduce the likelihood of the problem but does not eliminate it.
Now, to answer your question. It seems like the problem happens when multiple threads or events happen when using SMS. For example, it might happen when you are editing a message and when you receive a SMS text message. (It is more likely if you use the notification bar to pull down the message rather than navigating to it in the SMS client.) The good news is that people are trying to reliably reproduce the problem so that we can troubleshoot and fix the problem. (See my earlier post in this thread for a link of those discussions).

Based on the review of the code, one fix seems to have been made to the 2.2 code branch. However, people using 2.2 have indicated that they are still experiencing the problem. The problem is in the library. However, there is a very unique set of circumstances that have to occur before you see the problem. It's quite possible that people who haven't seen this problem yet just use the UI in such a way that the problem doesn't show up.

i second that. this glitch can be nasty. hopefully it will be addressed soon. GV for the win.
I have the same issue here. It will show one name but have a conversation for another, or the name and the convo are right, but the picture is wrong.
I think I found a solution to the thing. Been getting it a LOT and pissed me off on more than a single occasion.
So. If you are talking to someone and SUDDENLY receive a text message from that person but when you open it, it changes the name of the contact to someone else or ....I guess everyone who has experienced it KNOWS what it looks like. So when you GET IT, open it, then CLOSE the whole messaging app. Then restart it and it should fix itself and be back to texting the right person. If it doesn't (or if you want to be on the safe side), kill the messaging app with a task killer or task manager and restart it.
This has fixed it recently for me. Had it happen a total of about 15 times, with me finding and using the trick about the latest 5 times and it worked every time.
Note that I AM running Bionix Fusion 1.0 with Voodoo if that makes any bit of a difference.

texts disappearing, not received + no record of calls missed

I have found at least two different threads where some of us are experiencing texts that disappear right in front of us. And even worse....texts that are sent to use but we never get them! I've seen my friend's sms record that shows a text was sent, but I did not get it.
I don't think it is rom related, because I've seen the issue presented in an Evo rom thread and a Xoom thread (user has an Evo).
I have completely wiped my phone - twice- and it still happens. Another user trying to trouble shoot the same problem, wiped and reformatted his sd card. This is happening on stock sms and 3rd party sms apps.
AND.. some of us experiencing this are ALSO missing calls. I have seen friend's call history that shows they have called me and I have NO record of a missed call.
Anyway - if you are experiencing this, or thought you were going crazy, I'm trying to troubleshoot and find out wtf is going on. Any ideas would be appreciated. If you are experiencing this, and can join or comment on this discussion maybe we can figure out what the common denominator is.
Thanks!
What up slug. I also can agree with you to. I have missed texts and calls myself. Everytime I was on CM7 or Decks Aosp roms my phone never missed anything. I did miss alot of calls off of MikG. What I do now is upgrade my PRL and Profile every other day.

Seems like this adds to not being rom related, but maybe sense or sprint? Have you found that updating prl and profile is helping?
Are you sure it was not randomly ok?
Really, as far as I know, I've not missed any texts or phone calls since I did two full wipes. I DO know I've had texts disappear b/c I saw them disappear.
I have had texts disappear once. But that was on one of the nightlies. I was like WTF!! But havent yet since yesterday.
I just posted this in evokings thread... I've been having same issues...

So due to frustrations with missing text messages, today I flashed the latest Deck rom. As I also was unable to send pics... I was desperate to find a solution ... well pics send great and I haven't missed any texts.
Well I was going thru some of the advanced settings and found a setting about locking messaging in low memory situations. And it got me thinking, is that the issue here? As I know last nite I was playing plants vs zombies when I missed a number of text messages. Do we not have enough memory? Am I asking too much of my poor broken evo? Or can we have that setting?
Just spit balling ... I'm really missing this ROM. And was I alone in having MMS issues? I noticed some talk about it, and renaming a file... but I couldn't understand completely and must have done something wrong because it didn't fix it.
E.
EDIT... yes I did wipe wipe wipe wipe before flashing.

bumping in case others are experiencing this, trying to find what we have in common or if it is a random sprint issue
copy of chat transcript with Sprint agent - apparently this might be a known issue and it might be hardware related.

&nbsp e also seen where they have sent me text messages that I have never recieved

07/01/2011 02:54:39PM "No problem, I was just wondering if this was a problem with the new updates as I have other friends with Evos experiencing the same or similar problems"
07/01/2011 02:55:41PM Agent (Sara B): "There are certain known issues with the new updated and our experts are working to get the solution."
07/01/2011 02:55:57PM "Might this be one of them?"
07/01/2011 02:56:09PM Agent (Sara B): "Since when are you facing this issue with phone?"
07/01/2011 02:57:24PM "within the past 3 weeks or so. The disappearing texts happened within the past week."

07/01/2011 03:03:57PM Agent (Sara B): "I will perform the basic troubleshoot remotely. And then I will request you to visit the nearest Sprint store to get the phone repaired. As Insurance is added on the line, you will not be charged the repair fee of $35.00."
07/01/2011 03:05:46PM "oh, so this may be a hardware problem and opposed to a software problem?"
07/01/2011 03:06:30PM Agent (Sara B): "Yes, this can be. As the phone needs to be checked physically."
07/01/2011 03:08:27PM "Ok, thank you so much, I really appreciate your help. I need to take my phone in for the camera to be looked at so they can look at this at the same time - I had no idea it might be hardware related, I just assumed software since there have been updates."

I know there was a problem with SMS messages appearing in the wrong thread or being sent to the wrong person with Froyo. That was one of the things that was supposed to be fixed in the Gingerbread update.
I think I have always received all of my texts though. Missing calls? That has happened on my Evo and several of my previous phones. Sometimes the phone never rings and then suddenly I have a voicemail from someone. It's something wonky with the Sprint network and has happened to me and other members of my family on various phones. I don't think it's specific to the Evo or any ROM on the Evo.

Yea, that sms going to the wrong person thing is supposed to have been fixed.
But this is different. Way different. And I've only seen the combination of things mentioned by evo or 3d evo owners. Texts that show as being sent by a friend that never show up on your phone, same thing with phone calls, and also watching texts within a sms thread literally disappear.
Texts not arriving is sprints network failing. Same with missed calls not showing up
I receive a notification for having a text via the light blinking but there are no texts! This only happens to me when I play plants vs zombies though. Not sure if its the same issue lol

Welcome to the now network, now you wish you chose someone else
I too have had these same problems on cm7, mikfroyo, mikg, mikz, and stock froyo. Definately not a rom related problem
I have been having this same problem on MIUI and Fresh Rom, before and after flashing radios. I live in Florida, if it could be a region/network thing. My wife's Evo is running an old 2.2 rom and she misses calls all day long, simply gets a GVoice notification.

Ok, this is ridiculous then.
Thank you all soooo much for reporting in.
I like Sprint and love my Evo and have no intention of changing carriers or phones (unless I get the 3d or 4g+).
When our phones quit functioning reliably as a PHONE, that is a big problem.
Hey slug, we spoke about this but I want to chime in. I too get the the light indicator go off and never get any messages, I've also seen messages disappear after a few minutes in the thread. I know I've definitely missed calls and only get voicemail.
I've never had a problem with Sprint or my evo until the new sense which I think is the culprit.
I've done a test on a theory I had. I deleted one of my text threads from a friend, sent him a text and asked him to reply (i was ok the phone with him too). When he replied, I got the indicator flashing but no message. Hung up the phone and still no message. I'm starting to think its new threads started by us that it won't show, but also current threads r being effected because I always get a daily message and today never received it.
I'm going to switch back to warm 2.2 and see if it stops and if I receive all of the missing texts but I highly doubt that.

So update on my text dilemma. I switched back to 2.2 and I get texts but now most of my apps doesn't work. Lol I tell ya I can't win. Gonna switch back to synergy later, too tired this to do it now.

I use Handcent, not the stock sms, and I still have the problem.
I've been wondering what "touches" all of these aspects - texts, phone calls, etc. And while I've thought of Spring, Sense and roms....I had not thought of Google Voice because I don't use it. But you are right, there has been some sort of integration made with that.

i used Handcent and didnt have a problem all texts came in order not sure about time stamp but i now the texts came in order not all over the place
Well the problem that I'm having is due to minfree's I think. I think what happens is that the messaging service gets closed to free up RAM and thus the notification light blinks to wake the service up, but it just never decides to read and write the text. The reason why I think it's a memory issue is because when I play PvZ, that's 80 MB of RAM. On the 2.1/3.0 ROM's, I have about 110 free (on Mik's) and 85 on Synergy or Kingdom. When I play PvZ, in order to get that much RAM, it needs to close things, usually launchers are locked in memory so they don't close. But if I'm playing and someone texts me, WiMax notifier goes off when a text is there, but there are no texts and people get mad cuz I don't reply.
It has however, never stopped a phone call for me. Only texts. The other thing I noticed is that if I'm constantly checking my messaging app i.e. keeping it awake, the problem never occurs. So I believe it might be a memory issue with the newer sense. At least for me lol so unless there is a way to lock the messaging app, I don't think it will be solved for people experiencing the issue I am. And I'm not sure if this could also be the phone culprit for not receiving calls.
Edit: Just edited my minfree's and it happened without pvz hmm I think its a memory issue for me then
