SMS Delivery Report - HD2 General

Hello!
Do you know of any software for our HD2, that will change the behavior of receiving sms delivery reports?
My Blackberry has an icon, that just changes, if a message has been delivered successfully. Even after 6 month i can see, if a message has been delivered.
I don't like the windows mobile default behavior of creating a "system message" that needs to be marked as unread ans so on.
Who can help me?
Sebastian

SMS delivery reports are a network thing. Call your operator and ask about them being turned off.

This is not exactly what he means.
He means that once the option is enabled, he wants the software to have some sort of icon that will be put next to the message that has been sent once a delivery report comes in. The current situation, however, is that the delivery report will be put into the conversation as a 'new sms' and therefore is less practical.
I am also curious about this, however I don't think this is actually something a program can change for you, as it'd require HTC messaging client modifications. It's just the way Windows Mobile 6.x handles these reports.

Ahhhh I see. I wasn't aware of the icon thingy in the RIM OS (or whatever bberrys run on...)
I was mainly pointing out that windows mobile does not create a system message
"I don't like the windows mobile default behavior of creating a "system message"
and that it is in fact the carrier that generates the message.
Yet another tid bit to add to the hoarde of useless information clogging my brain.

I have the same issue, any hint?

I am interesed for this too

I have also been searching a long time for the same feature as most of the others here.
In my opinion it worked actually much better in WM6 where it just popped up a system message that the SMS had been delivered.
I will be keeping an eye on this thread hoping someone has a good idéa.

You just can turn off sms delivery report without hesitating. If the sms can't be delivered you'll get notification. If there's a silence than it's been delivered. Something like this...

not as simple as that, , , say i send you a txt, and your phone is turned off, , i wont get a failure, because it HAS been delivered to your service center, but you haven't yet received it, , , so relying on NOT getting a failure to tell you its been delivered is useless.

To answer original old question a perfect & very configurable software exists for WM & is called SMS reports eraser.
automatically moves reports so you just get the notification icon & sound if wanted, pretty much blackberry style.
Works perfect & you still have reports for future reference ...

SMS delivery notification ?

Well, its been a while since I am trying to get sms confirmations but they dont seem to work.
Everytime I enable the checkbox asking for confirmation but all i get is SMS sent message which is almost instantenous. I know there is a tweak to activate sms delviery notification by default so that you dont have to click the checkbox everytime but nothing works.
I saw a program which allows you to get your contact name in the delivery confirmation but in my case I just dont get any confirmations.
Using: qtek 9100 with factory ROM 9/22/05 on cingular.
Or could it be a cingular problem ?
Guys, please let me know

Could be your network operator's problem, could also be a problem with the recipient's network operator. Both networks have to support the feature. Try with somebody else's SIM for an entirely different network - preferably after making sure that it works for them on their phone; assuming your device is SIM-unlocked.. if not, either unlock it (void warranty and whatnot) or just ask Cingular whether it's supported at all (good luck getting an answer beyond template replies)

Thanks for the reply. Well, I see your signature and I have the same device with the same ROM as yours. Do you have this problem ? Are you able to get delivery notifications. IF yes, then please let me know which provider to do connect to.
I tried calling cingular, and they were so dumb that they started giving me solutions like poweroff and on your phone etc. So i just had to cut it short with them.
I wish they had a technical support team.
well, sounds like you got fed "The Script" by cingular... a bunch of places with support sites have their people read a 'script'... it's long, tedious, and very often for people like 'us' who do know what they're doing it'll feel rather ridiculous and pointless. If it's a free number, though, walk through it - if nothing else they'll give you a case file at the end and somebody higher up to talk to. Could ask for the higher-up from the get-go, but they tend to ask you whether you did all the things the lower-down asked you to do, and if you say 'no' or 'yes' (lied), they just send you back
Anyway, on to your question...
Yep - it works fine for me. I'm using a Lebara Mobile SIM, which used to connect to the Telfort NL network, but appears to be connected to the O2 NL network at the moment. I've sent text messages to people in NL on Vodafone and Orange, to one person in the USA on Verizon and one person in Australia whose provider name I don't know They've always worked for me - always getting a "delivery notification" text message - typically just a few seconds after sending, though I've had it happen that it took several minutes as well.

This could well be the network as I had a similar problem when I was back in the UK recently and connected to O2. They don't support deliver confirmations on their network as standard but you could add a 4 digit sequence to each outgoing text message that would then give you a delivery message back. Pain in the ass but it was fine for the week I was back.
I'm on T-Mobile in the UK and I know you can prefix an SMS with *0# to get a delivery report issued. I'm using that quite a bit at the moment as the normal delivery report notifications don't seem to differentiate correctly between pending and fully delivered messages - i.e. on my Vario both report that the message has been delivered, which for a pending message is completely wrong.
Do other people get this problem too, by the way? Using *0# option you can get a full pending or a full delivered message, complete with the actual delivery time/date info and the system's message-ID number so you can match the pending report to the delivered item.
Andre
*0# didn't work on my Lebara (from PPC to old phone)
but it did work on Vodafone (from old phone to PPC)
funnily enough the *0# remains part of the text message on both ends
Edit: and looks like vodafone charged me an extra 3 eurocents for the service %)

Oh this is something I didnt know, so I should try it. Not sure whether cingular supports it or not but lets see. By the way when you say prefix an SMS, do you mean the number to whom we send the sms or the sms text ?
From v8Dave's response I guess you have to prefix the txt with this code. Can you confirm ?

With O2 you prefix your message with it and the network strips this off the message before sending to the recipient. Remember to add a space after it otherwise it does not work and the recipient gets the whole message with the *0# at the start.

Yep - tried that after googling around to see if I'm doing it wrong on the wizard and noticed that somebody mentioned that it was "star zero hash space".. still gets sent along %) Very odd
~ Z
On T-Mobile UK, the *0# (star zero hash) message prefix is correctly stripped off the message whether you use a space afterwards or not. You still lose 3 characters from your 160 maximum, though.
Could someone confirm whether they have the same problem as me with their normal Delivery Reports system though? i.e. when I send an SMS to a phone which is currently switched off, I get a "Delivered" report on my Vario almost immediately, and then another identical "Delivered" report whenever the SMS really is delivered to the recipient's phone. The first report should say "Pending", of course.
It works correctly when I use the *0# method, so I'm wondering whether the T-Mobile software in the Vario is re-wording the delivery report in some way, but getting it wrong for "Pending" status reports?

Call timer program

Hi all,
I've had a search for this but can't find any solutions.
Unless i'm being really stupid I xcan't find a way to make my XDA mini S count only OUTGOING calls. Basically, I get 100 free minutes a month and currently have no idea how many I am using. The only thing I can get the phone to count is a total of in and outgoing calls which is utterly useless.
Any suggestions?
Alex
DkToday is the app you need, it counts outgoing calls and sms. You can set the date you want to roll-over as well ( my minutes are round up and charged to me every 11th of the month.) I'll attach two files here. First install version 1.69, then replace with the dll in version 1.80. good luck!
Where's the setting options in dktoday?
Sorry, I forgot to mention that. Go to start-settings-today-items and tap the DKToday Plug-in. Then select options on the right side of the plug-in list, and the options menu pops-up.
When you say replace the DLL do you mean simply install the older version then copy and paste the new version into the install location?
Many thanks
Yes. If I remember correctly, the 1.80 cab only contains the .dll file and not the complete program. Simply installing the 1.80 cab should work, but not without having 1.69 installed first. So simply install version 1.69 and then install 1.80 over the old version.
Ah brill, have got it working. So if i tap on the phone icon is it meant to take me to missed calls? It doesn't seem to wor. The bluetooth one does. And what is the bar in the top right? battery? Is there a way to turn that off?
Downloaded this but cannot install on the Wizard.
Two files nether of which will install.
00CAB2BE.001
0DKTODAY.000
How do I get this on ?
the bar in the top right is a signal strength indicator, it shows you how strong your signal to the nearest GSM transmitter is, like the phone icon in the top bar. Clicking on it turns your screen off. Tapping on the phone symbol only works when you have a missed call. It then pops-up a screen, asking you if you want to call back the number you have not answered. It will not take you to the missed call section like the dialer does when you press the calls button there.
Disabling some lines in the plug-in can be done in options, by selecting which lines ( 1, 2 or 3) it should show.
@Nikko2: copy the cab files to your device using Active Sync or Explorer, than execute them from there, first 1.69, then 1.80. Choose Device as install location and it should work.
It doesn't count the sms. I have 150 and it comes out 000
Same here. App is not counting the text messages.
It first starts counting when you recieve an SMS. The only problem i have with that is that it counts my deliverynotifications as well. So it allways counts +1 when i sent a sms and get the notification. It doesn´t count how many sms you have in your inbox

Problem is, mine doesn't count in or out going sms. at all.
DKToday only counts sms delivery notifications. Be sure to turn that on. When you type a new message, go to menu-options and check the box. When the delivery notification is received by your phone, the app counts 1 sent sms. There is a way to turn these delivery notifications permanently on. I have posted this in a similar thread and it is also posted in the original thread on this program. use the search.
Be sure to verify if your provider charges you for these notifications, because some do. In Holland these notifications are free of charge, but that does not always go for other countries, so be sure to check this to avoid nasty surprises on your bill.

SMS Delivery Notification

Ok, maybe this aint completely a pure Xperia Issue, more a WM6.1 Issue. But maybe the solution might be? .. if there is any
I'm a guy that like to get Delivery Notification on my text messages,
not to be confused with Sent noticed, which I find kinda useless, you receive a error msg if the SMS isnt sent anyhow.
But back to the Issue, SMS Delivery Notification.
As it is, you send your SMS and then get a NEW SMS telling you that your SMS was delivered.
(And it dont even bother matching the number to your addressbook, wtf?)
How I want it to work, and had several cellphones that did, is to just flag your sent SMS as delivered.
Does someone share my frustration? or am I just a whining sob?
And does anyone have a solution to this highly annoying(according to me) problem?
Some kinda SMS client for Windows Mobile, or for the Xperia?
The Sent Notification isn't an issue
I don't like it, but I know how to turn it off.
--------
What I would like... is to have the Delivery Notification /Report,
not as a separate "sms" that dont match against your address book.
But as a "green flag" or something that indicate that your SMS has been delieverd.
Had this feature on my earlier devices, then the SMS-icon was a envelope(as it is now)
and to see that it was sent you saw a "stamp-icon" and when it was delivered it was a
green check flag i the corner of the envelope. Hope you understand me now
I feel your pain.... then I installed advance config and disable the delivery notification... since then, that I am a happy man

What network are you on? I know some carriers don't support the delivery notification feature, but on O2 in the UK if you add *0# to the beginning of your message it will send you an SMS back when it's been delivered.. works for me (and *0# are all conveniently placed next to each other on the X1 keyboard, how nice!)
Hehe... I use TELE2 ... and I DO get a Delivery notification /report.
I just dont want it as a separate SMS! or as it say a msg from "System Administator" telling me my SMS has been delivered.
if you read the post I have posted above, I try to explain this a few times.
I do appreciate all you guys trying to help thou!
Cheers!
Same here - Again, the problem is NOT that the delivery notification itself annoys us, we know how to turn it off or on. The annoying part is just the way of presenting the notification. All other phones I had so far (as a matter of fact only Nokias) had a special way of treating the incoming delivery notification, they did not display the notification like a normal text message, but rather marked the corresponding sent text message as "delivered". If I turn on the delivery reports on the X1, I get a new text message for every one I sent. That is stupid
What we are looking for is a way of making Windows Mobile 6.1 read the incoming delivery reports and mark the corresponding sent text messages. Or at least they should not cause the X1 to notify us as the same way a normal text message does (i.e. same sound, same message dialog, etc...). I want to know that a message has been delivered without first having to believe "I got a text message" and then seeing that it's only a delivery report...
Yep, I'm looking for a solution to this issue too. Having recently bought an HTC Touch HD, this is one thing that I think my old Sony Ericsson K610i handled much better.
Would be great to find some tweak that makes the phone treat delivery reports as a status change of the sent text message (sms), rather than as a separate message altogether.
So what you're trying to say is:
Now: - You get a seperate sms saying the message has been delivered.
What you want: - The message in the "sent" folder changes icon when delivered.
Is there a solution for this that anyone knows of?
Thanks,

Nope, sorry, I'm not much of a win-mobile-developer... However, I did find a small app that actually fulfills my wishes somewhat. It's not perfect, but it's better than the default delivery reports...
Have a look at this site and have a go at SMS Delivery Recipt Fix. The author is active here on the forum, so you can find lots of info on this app in several threads (after all, that's how I found it). I just tried it on my phone (HTC Touch HD running Win Mobile 6.1) and it works brilliantly. The status message is still delivered as a separate sms, but now it pops up in a bubble, and the option to delete it is right there with it. In my opinion, that's a lot better than having to go into the inbox, find the report, and delete it from there. I think I'll stick with this solution.
That bubble with the "delete" option is how it works for me..but this just came with win 6.1, nothing special installed for that feature. Still it would be good to see wich contact is reported about.
But as i read that "fix" is meant to also show the contacts name, i will try that.

Yes, I do feel a bit stupid here, but I realised later that the bubble popup notification is a built-in function of WinMo 6.1... I just hadn't properly understood how to enable it, that only became clear to me once I had installed the sms fix. But, the fix still does a nice thing, i.e. link the displayed number to a name, which looks a lot better.
Yes but from the screenshot is moves the delete link from onscreen to menu / delete..that would be annoying again. Is that right?

Not at all. Look at the screenshots again. The one with a menu is the "new message" notification... There you have more options like "call sender", "delete message", and so on. The first screenshot shows how the delivery report is displayed, and this comes with two on-screen options: dismiss and delete. No menus to navigate here.

Delivery Reports.....

Is there any way to have them not come through as a new message that needs opening to clear the notifcation and then stays in your inbox?
Can we not have it just pop up on the screen for a few seconds and then dissapear to their own folders like on a Nokia for example?
Really annoying having every other message in my inbox a delivery report!!
Cheers!
I'm with you on that. Really anoying.
Yeah, I always like to have DR on but i've turned them off right now until/if I can find a solution!!
Same here, my old P1i treated the delivery reports as some kind of push message, I had to read them, but after that they were nowhere to be found but as an addition to to sms itself in the "sent" folder saying something like "successfully delivered at ..." when you looked at the details of the sms.
really really annoying that the reports stay in the inbox and mess up the whole conversation. we really need a fix here.
You guys are lucky. I can't even get delivery reports on my phone. I wonder if it is to do with the network not allowing them? I am on O2 in UK.

availability of deliveery reports depend on your network. As far as i know, O2 dont have delivery reports.
so.. after half a year, are there any updates on it?
I don't use delivery reports due to this issue.
Therefore, I use "Message Sent" notifications. I'll provide the reg-tweak to enable this feature. Depending on your ROM, you might have one of these or both of these:
Code:
[COLOR=black]HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\NoSntMsg = 0 (default is 1)[/COLOR]
[COLOR=black]HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\NoSntMsg = 0 (default is 1)[/COLOR]
These are just pop-up notifications, and they don't save at all. But at least one knows the message was sent.

If so double check on you have ticked for delivery report for SMS and MMS in the settings
And check with your service provider its already activated to your sim card (this has noting to do with what kind of phone ur using, ask service provider to activate such service, if its available with them)

Hi all! I've update the software & I enabled the delivery report for sms.
When I send a SMS, I did not receive the delivery report. Anybody encounter this?
How can I make the delivery report work? Thanks

the X10i does not notify you if the sms was delivered, you can check by tap and hold on the message (sms) you send and a menu pops up and you select view report, it will show you if it is delivered or pending. it is a pain in the a$$.

I just called customer service. They told me on the right side of the SMS, there's an envelope. If there's an exclamation mark on top of it, it means its delivered...
I haven't use the regular message from the beginning.
Try using Handcent Sms, its free. And I have made customized handcent sms for X10.
check this forum handcent sms Modified to XPERIA X10 GUI
Once you installed,
On Handcent, go to settings/sent notifications/pick notify when message is received.
and do a test msg to a friend. It should show you an indication and you can pick custom tone.
Note:
if you get 2 notification for one message its because handcent and regular message both alerting for same event.
go to regular message and setting and remove all the notifications. keep only handcent.
Good luck

If it is MMS, then Exclamation mark, else Tick mark for SMS.....
Hi all,
I think I'm having a similar problem -
When I send a message, it definitely is sent - my friends are receiving them - but in Handcent, I get the blue-turning circle next to the message (as if it is still sending) and in the stock messaging app, the same message has the envelope with the exclamation mark.
Yet the messages ARE being sent.
This has only just started happening in the last day or so. I have installed quite a few apps to help save the battery since rooting - e.g. JuiceDefender, SetCPU, TaskPanel and StartUp Manager, but as far as I can tell I've not done anything to the SMS settings. As far as I can tell...
I'm on R2BA023, rooted, on O2 UK.
I've had a look through all the settings I can think of but I'm stumped now. This is the final niggle in my otherwise great new rooted set-up...
Hey - just wanted to update as I seem to have fixed it...
Not sure HOW, but it's one of the following. Seems to be something in "Startup Manager".
1) I had removed "Handcent SMS" for "User startup". Under the basis of "if I need it, I will run it".
2) Had removed the default x10 "Messaging" app from "System startup". It had 3 entries in there. I removed them all...
So one of those things broke the Outbox. As I mentioned, messages would send (confirmed by friends) but still appear as "in progress".
So, having put them all back in "System Startup", and rebooted, the "stuck" messages finally stopped being "stuck". Fixing it seems to have sent the messages again, but they are no longer "in progress". They are, however, time-stamped with the current time (e.g. today) and not the time sent (e.g. yesterday). It turns out they have been "sent" again.
Oh dear, I just tinkered to try to pinpoint the problem and I've broken it again.
Further edit:
Actually, far from having fixed it, it seems that now the "stuck" messages only send during a reboot.
Trying to send them when the phone is "on" just leaves them stuck in the outbox. If I power off & on, they leave the outbox... BUT the recipient gets them again.
Damnit.
Any ideas?

I dont think your rooting or any other application will affect this.
tell us what settings are u on when you go to :
On Handcent, go to settings/sent notifications/"What option??"
I think it's not so much the "rooting" as possibly "things I have tinkered with after I got power-crazy after rooting", i.e. trying to disable things I don't need from running at startup. Un-doing that seemed to improve it...
Odd that at the moment it sends during boot. So something runs at boot that sends my outbox messages, but it can't run once the phone is on.
I just uninstalled Handcent and used the stock app. Sent a message first time with no problems...
I will reinstall Handcent and take a look at what happens. I can't not have that app now, I love it (until I broke it).

its exclamation for all....
Well, re-installed Handcent. Seems to be okay now.
It's a bit odd, I never changed the settings in there, as far as I can tell.
Shiwantha, I remember that initially "Sent notifications" was on "Disable" but I changed it to "Notify when sent" when I was having problems, and it made no difference.
Anyway, it's fixed now. Thanks for your help!
A quick follow-up... I like to give as much info as possible in these situations so anyone else who happens to find this problem may find something here that helps...
After re-installing Handcent, there are now two entries in StartUp Manager's "User" section. After my previous tinker-sessions, I could only see one to enable/disable, but I thought there were two before.
So I think that I "broke" one of those start-up entries.
For the record, it is working now and I have:
- Disabled ALL "Messaging" entries in "system" section of Startup Manager
- Left BOTH entries for Handcent SMS in "user" section of Starup Manager
The only conclusion I can think of is that by disabling the "Handcent" entries, I "broke" one of them, and so could only re-enable one of the entries. I assume the other one had some kind of SMS outbox functionality.
I'm just guessing though. But at least I can disable the "messaging" stock apps and it all still works.
FIXED. Relief!

I just unrooted else would have shown u the screenshot.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
In additon to owning the X10 I own the X1. The message delivery notification was driving me mad on the X1. With the X10 I noticed there is a red X if the message has not been sent. However, once it is send the red X is cleared away. I like it this way much better.
