Hey once again,
I was recently looking through the Marketplace to find a weather app that comes anything close to WindowsPhone7 themed, and I found nothing of the sort.
But, I did come across Gismeteo, a very stylish weather application, and free too!
Its got a great interface, themed as to be of a Froyo based layout, and it is only 4.38mb to install... which seems quite a bit, but worth the download!
It allows multiple weather locations to be tracked and updated, and its just a swipe on the top bar and selecting the city of choice, and it will switch to it and update!
Its lightweight on the battery, and light on data transfer, but as usual, WiFi is recommended to avoid 3G usage.
Give feedback on the app below, as I was a partial graphics developer of the app.

Had my Blade for about a month now, tried half a dozen roms, settled on Jap Jellyfish with some tweaks, overclocked kernel, black status bar, yadda yadda yadda.
I have looked at people's home screens, and think... why? I tried having a big clock or circle battery widget, I still instinctively look to the status bar up top. I've tried various other widgets, but everything just seems to get in the way.
I have only one home screen populated with stuff I use regularly, Droid48, Email widget, contacts, power control and google search. I have seen some things that I think look cool, but don't see the point in doing, does it really add enough to my user experience to be worth the juggling and hoops?
So far the only real modifications I would consider heavier than just applying a couple zip files (Forst paragraph), I have made involve Widgetlocker, and a couple sliders, plus... Droid48. Sometimes I just really, really need to have a calculator. Maybe I'm just not cut out for this pretty phone thing.
No offense, but whats the point of this post?
A few questions buried in there, will the heavy mods actually make my experience any better? Are there any changes that are. aactually worth the effort?

you've hit the nail on the head with "look cool". that's a pretty good reason. plenty of apple owning friends are pretty jealous of the widgets possible on my blade. and i remind them often that it's £100 vs £500.
i agree that overkill is possible but it all depends on what you want from your phone.
ive got a calendar and task widget on my home screen so i always know my next engagement.
ive got a widget showing what torrent my server is currently grabbing.
on one page i've got a page full of my best mates + family photos grabbed straight from facebook which i far prefer over going to the contacts app then favourites.
and everyone needs the instant buttons app so you're only ever 2 presses away from playing the tumbleweed sound effect after someone cracks an awful joke....
Ok some good ideas there, and I have gotten some other ideas elsewhere. The scrolling wallpaper that is making the rounds has given me the inspiration to try out some things, and I am starting to understand the allure of themeing.
Noticing somedistinct improvements with 2. 2 as well.

I'm pretty much from the same school of thinking with android. I only had my blade for a few weeks now & I've come from an iPhone & I really think less is more. I have launcher pro plus installed with only two homescreens.
One which simply has typo clock widget, a basic helvetica clock & a shortcut to my camera. The typoclock takes me to my alarm clock if i press it & obviously i got the launcher pro dock with browser, sms, gmail etc & swipe gestures for all 5.
The 2nd has a facebook widget, a setCPU widget, couple of folders for games/utilities & a few more short cuts to apps I use regularly (Astro, market, cal, maps etc....).
Have you tried the 0x90 addon for Jjelly? It let's you put the power control widget at the top of your notification bar, esier to get to & frees up home screen space! It also let's you tweak your home screen a bit, add a music player control (which works with spotify ) It's a brilliant mod, you should give it a try.

Downloading now, haven't found any widgets yet for fb that are both good and work well with a black theme.

What are some informational widgets that you guys like to use. It can be anything like battery status or clocks and such. I want to try some out and there really isn't a better way to find new ones than community recommendations?
Right now, the only one I'm using is Battery Left
I like battery text widget. It shows the battery level in text form.
Powered by Axura with a dash of Voodoo
Quick Settings, not exactly a widget but even so
Beautiful widgets, worth the price
And that's about it... i keep it simple

So I've been switching ROM's a lot now that we have lots of ROM's to choose from.
My phone seems to be backing up all my apps and all from each ROM I use then installs them while I'm setting up the new ROM. Kind of nice, but sometimes it installs two of the same apps. ie Terminal Emulator.
I have this lingering weather thing going on each time I come out of the lock screen. It's just annoying that it happens with every ROM I flash and it's still there every time. Sun in the right corner then some clouds. It's seriously zero degrees outside I hardly feel like I'm on an island drinking pina coladas.
Any fix to make it stop? I'm enjoying the gloom!
edit: I figured it out it wasn't Beautiful Widgets it was Weather Widget Addon App. changed settings and all is right in the world.
uninstall tewrminal emulator, its included as a system app in most roms. Installit if its missing after a flash.
Do you use beautiful widgets? Theres a setting to turn off the weather animation when you unlock the phone.
Yes I have beautiful Widgets. I checked the settings. Not using any of them right now.

I'm trying to fill a specific need.
Before this i had a Ibex Flytouch 3. It lasted 4 days from new before the battery exploded and melted it to scrap.
BUT - it had a very nice weather widget that shows time and weather from lots of world places. Specifically Newbiggin-by-the-sea, Northumberland, UK.
No other weather app I've seen shows Newbiggin, the closes is Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Northumberland. OK, the weather will be the same, but I'd like to see Newbiggin listed and shown.
I've got the apk from the FT files, and it installs and runs as a widget, but I can change the settings (It used to be a tap on the widget would open its settings window, tapping it widget on my A500 does nothing).
Anyone know how to make it allow settings, or of a weather widgety that shows Newbiggin?
try beautiful widget...
I'll try him, thanks.
Palmary weather does the job I need, but it add TOO many widgets - I just want one simple little thing - why do they have to bloat things out so much?
In that case, you can use the basic widget available on the Acer.
But beautiful widget offers choice of different widgets from simple to sophisticated...
well the ACER one is not finalize... cut the text on the bottom...
and concerning beautifull.... hummm no comment.
Ressource eating, too much things.... but normal it's meant to be like this
but I will release asap my widget, minimalistic, nothing more than temperature, and simple graphic... just need too study more about Java

Don't get me wrong, i don't mind sophisticated..
I just don't want all the other widgets still installed after I've got the one I want running.
It's good it gives you a choice - it just needs to delete the ones I don't choose.

Thanks for the link.
I've already tried it - the water live wallpaper works fine and looks great, but the weather app/widget fails (installs, but on run force closes all the time).
Let's hear your wishes for features for the yotaphone 2 in particular panels, apps and uses for the EPD, let's hope the developers at Yotaphone are monitoring this forum and take some ideas from us.
Here's mine for starters.
1. Notifications.
A Yota panel that acts as a Notification centre for all the notifications other than calls, emails and sms. The present system of getting you to flip over the phone is clunky and the weakest part of the whole experience. I would like to select which apps send notifications to the panel and then scroll, swipe and select them from the EPD as the appear. An Android wear compatable panel could be awesome.
2. Browser
A search bar yotapanel, like the google now one on the main home screen, this would open to an EPD optimised Web browser.
3. Some system toggle short cuts.
A panel where you can select system stuff E.g bluetooth on/off, airplane mode on/off, silent/buzz/normal volume toggle.....etc.

Good idea for a thread.
Notification wise I love the sms and phone part of it, the other 2 are nice but I agree. They could be much better integrated. If yota could get the panels to integrate the mirror function on the notification widget bit, or just allow for customised assignment of apps to the email and notification app then it would be a bit less annoying.
Something like htc's blinkfeed or the flow home launcher (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.larvalabs.flow&hl=en_GB) would be good - a hub for general notifications, social media, rss feeds and whatnot.
Also agree that an EPD optimised browser would be nice, something basic and clean.
A settings panel would be excellent, I don't really use the music or book one, settings would be a nice function and a good way to keep use localised to the EPD if needed.
Need a few more options for the big panels, don't really use the reader or music player panels as I tend to use kindle app for reading and music player wise I listen to a lot of audio books and find that skipping back and forth is quicker using normal display.
Some more half page panels could be nice too, like a calculator and /or unit converter.
One thing i really miss so far is the clock alarm widget for Yota panel.

Just FYI, there is an EPD optimised browser, there is just no easy way to launch it. You can launch it by either clicking on twitter/rss links, or by launching chrome on the normal display and then holding the home button and selecting the place where YotaMirror usually is (the yota mirror icon will be replaced with some weird arrow icon).
Yes there is an easier way to launch the optimised browser - you just need to add apps launcher widget on yota panel and add chrome shortcut to it.

Apps are starting to appear in the app store, if you search the store with "Yotaphone" some third party stuff is showing up, there is a great currency converter with a Yota panel widget for the EPD and a couple of e readers and even Office Suite (says Yotaphone optimised)
There's stuff that doesn't mention Yotaphone in the notes so why they come up I don't know, anyway stuff us starting to appear which is great

If you're using the big analogue clock which covers half the screen, then the digital time will show in 12 or 24 hour format below the clock hands according to system settings.
Thanks for help. Looks ok:thumbup:

I find it quite clumsy to switch to Yotamirror (unlocking the back screen, press and hold home, select mirror). Should be possible with a gesture or doubletap on statusbar or something.

I just released a small widget which addresses these suggestions/issues. Behold, the Yota Toolbelt!
