I woke up this morning and got the update.
It was pretty amazing... Seems it also fixes the AVC playback issue and now I can play much more video than before.

i did the date trick late last night and i got mines.. but no movie tab
I'm still waiting on mine... talk about frustrating! Wifi US XOOM.
What's the date trick?
If you set your date ahead a day or so then set it back your xoom will automatically check for an update.
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
That's not working for me. I unchecked automatic date and time. Then set the day 2 days ahead and then back. Checked for system updates and it says up to date. Am I doing something wrong? US model in NY.

Try move it 2 days ahead and then reboot. This should force a check.
Unfortunately that did not work. Changed it to the 15th and did a shutdown and powered it back up. Checked for updates and it says system in up to date.

Mine is from the US. Wifi only.

Relax... I have been reading all the threads on how to force an upgrade for 3 days and eventually gave up. The next morning I got the update.
Don't let your Xoom get disconnected from the Internet. That might help.

It will only work if yours update is waiting for you already at the server end!
If they have not put yours as next batch at server end, you move date forward 100 years it wont help...
Woot I just got my ota update for my wifi xoom

Anyone have a clue as to when 3G Xooms will get their update?
Late summer is what I got. And it may have to be done with the lte upgrade. Which sucks.
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
It will come as soon as Verizon f's it up enough.
The real answer is that nobody knows outside Google/Verizon/Motorola, and they're not going to announce until right before rollout.
I check regardless

Is there any actual evidence of this? From what I gathered, a couple of people just made blind assumptions about this and it started rolling from there. I have never heard of an update having to be done physically by a carrier or oem, and it just seems like a bad idea. I can guarantee that not everyone will be sending in their Xoom for the 4g upgrade as well. This just doesn't make any sense to me. I'm not aiming this at you, or calling you out personally, but this just seems highly unlikely to me and I won't be too happy if it is true, and wanted to know if there was any reason to give this rumor any merit, or if it can be brushed off.

The sd card works good under root. I have no real use for 4g on my tablet. I really hate sending this thing off. Plus I use wifi as my primary data source. Data is backup if I need it.

It especially doesn't make any sense considering that many Xooms (like my own) are encrypted, and the tech couldn't even boot fully to test the update.
If your encrypted how are they going to test that the 4g module is working in your xoom?

In the verizon xoom upgrade "getting ready guide", they tell you you can optionally encrypt your Xoom before sending it in. I imagine they will be able to boot into the os, just like a fresh ROM. So I'm sure they will be able to test 4g, as well as the software update. But I still highly doubt this is how the update will be done. Guess I've seen both carriers & oem's do dumber things, I just hope it's not the case! I expect an ota just like every other update.

You expect them to test? Most likely this will be an assembly line function. Any required updates will occur either on next boot with connection, or be installed via some kind of assembly line flash similar to first assembly, needing to be completed by user on first boot. It makes more sense for the update to be in 2 parts, with os update plus introduction of software, then the hardware change out.
Having a tech man handle each device for software, is too expensive and risky. I personally expect to see email saying backup your data, because a wipe will be required

I'd imagine they don't need to. The module has been QA tested, and it's a simple matter of plugging it into a mini-PCI slot.
Well if the design is as I'm thinking the 2 are seperate. I rooted and found I have not lost my Google movies and have just gain SD support. Funny how the stock root works fine, but yet others have lost wifi, market stuff, etc. I am going to request the module be shipped to me. I can't afford to be down 7 days for that. I will be more than happy to sign a waiver to release moto if I screw up. In fact they are going to get more support from me anyway. My wife loves the fact that my xoom is performing so well. Now I have to by her one! And she hates moto. This has been the best work/play device for me yet!

Team Tiamat to the Rescue
Tiamat 2.0 (Manta Ray) was released last night and includes their custom version of HC 3.2 and 3G support. If you are already rooted and can't wait for Google and Motoroal and feedback so far is pretty good. I am a wifi only user so I am only reporting what I have read.

Is there any ROM that works well with Xoom 4G? Every ROM I look says not to fash on a 4G Xoom.
Sent from my Xoom using xda premium
Simple answer no.
Longer answer is that no dev is going to waste the time getting one up and running just to have ICS drop a few weeks later.
So I'd just sit tight and wait for the Ice Cream goodness to roll in.
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
What demecles said, no dev is going to waste there time doing a ROM that will support the 4G XOOM when ICS is right around the corner. There's a few kernels out there that will work with the 4G XOOMs but I'm not even going to bother with that, as long as I have root access, I'm all good and waiting on ICS to come out.

It works great on mine. Its just the stock rom +root but at least you can play a bit.

Good point. I didn't remember about ics but frankly I don't think we are a few weeks away. Motorola said after ics is realeased by Google they will take 6 weeks to release a final note but that the xoom will receive the update. I think it will be more like around February or so

I was aso looking for a rom for my 4g xoom and came to the same conclusion regarding ICS.
My biggest complaint since I got my xoom back from the upgrade has been battery life. I used to be able to use it for 7+ hours and be fine. Now I get only 4 hrs or so of usage. Have tried shutting off the data to no avail.
Must have something to do with the new software I guess.
Any suggestions?
I see numerous threads about people getting the ota 3.2.6 but was wondering why I yet to see it, I know what it is and is no big deal but I would still like to be able to install it without boot loading it no ICS but at least let me have this update any ideas I'm currently not rooted because I'm eagarly waiting for stock ICS I know I should get team EOS version blah!! Any ideas??
It rolls out to devices gradually, not all at once. If you don't have it yet, just hang tight. You'll get it soon as long as you have a US Verizon LTE Xoom (MZ602). All it does is fix an issue with data connectivity when coming out of airplane mode and it includes a new CDMA radio. Hardly Earth shattering!

The baseband being missing was kinda scary. Thought it was booked but rebooting fixed that. Otherwise nothing seems to stand out with this update so far.

I had the same baseband issue. All that this update has is a new CDMA radio and a fix for the data connectivity issue when coming out of airplane mode.
