Mac rooting

Should the guide for mac permroot&recovery pretty much follow the same steps? I had no issues getting root on my fascinate and evo on my mac I'd just rather not take the risk bricking this phone. Thanks!
it's plenty easy if you install the SDK properly and follow the adb commands.
Should be pretty much the same steps just using terminal instead of cmd

[Q] Need guidance before rooting/unlocking my G2

Hello All,
I am planning to root/unlock my Tmobile G2 and have some questions. But before, below are my details.
Android version : 2.2 (Stock)
Baseband version: 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M
Kernal version: 2.6.32.17-g9ab3677 ([email protected] #1)
Build number: 1.22.531.8 CL277427 release-keys
1) I got this as a used phone so i am not sure if it is S-off or not etc but surely it is not rooted so im guessing it is S-on.
2) What precautions should i take before i go ahead with rooting. Any backups to create etc something like that. (I am going to follow gfree method for rooting / unlocking).
3) If something fails or goes wrong during the process, will factory reset fix the problem or is there a chance that my phone can be bricked while following this method?
4) Also in gfree method , the end step states that run ./gfree -f and then wait for the changes to "take". So will i get any notification that it is done or just should give it some time.? Also the final reboot should be done normally or via any command.(Or will i land up on my homescreen after ./gfree)?
5) Should i perform all the steps required with my keyboard or the onscreen keyboard? (kind of noobish question but i have seen some wierd threads to confuse me)
Any kind of help on these questions will increase my confidence to ahead and try this out as i am completely a newbie to all this and want to be real cautious for this as everyone would normally be.
Cheers.
Its always a good idea to have a nandroid backup.
Read through the ENTIRE walkthough before beginning.
There is always a chance of bricking but Gfree is pretty darn safe unless you mis-type that one command, and all the guides ive seen say warning when it talks about that line. I used the hard keyboard.
I remember waiting several minutes for the root to "take". Im certain I wait longer than necessary, I play it safe.
G2 is my first android phone, so I was a bit anxious, but it went perfectly. Best of luck!
Edit : I forgot to mention I used the rage gfree method as I believe it is the most reliable. Those who know much more than I said rage is the "cleanest" method.

I suggest following CyanogenMod's guide to rooting the Desire Z, pretty sure it uses g-free and the instructions are very specific.
Just follow the directions. You will be fine

Methods im going to follow
Thanks all for the reply,
I'm going to use the rage + gfree method for rooting/unlocking mentioned at the below link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#Rooting_the_G2
But i have one question,
1) After running rage as (/data/local/tmp/rage), and after it says "Forked #### childs" etc.
2) Then i have push gfree file and run ./gfree -f
3) The next step is to run "/data/local/tmp/root" and "sync", but the below post says not to run. Also it states a very important step that may brick ur phone if not done correctly which is missing in the above method. "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=834228"
Please help me out with these two conflicting steps!
it is very easy to do. I did it with mine that i got last weekend and it is my first real android phone.
Here is the guide i used: hxxp://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=TMobile_G2:_Rooting

Guide to Rooting

Hi guys,
last method to root the nexus 10?
I read different guide ,which of these successfully work?
Thanks in advance
I used the method here nexus10root.com. He doesn't tell you but you will bootloop after you unlock the boot loader. Visit the Youtube Channel of qbking777 and watch his tutorial for how to get out of the bootloop. After doing what qbking777 said, I finished rooting with the instructions at nexus10root.com. My only problem was that CWM does not stay on the N10 as the recovery so I flashed TWRP and all has been great ever sense. For ease of use I say WuFresh's method is easiest, but I just like to do things myself and know exactly what it is I am doing and not depending on a tool. That way if I screw up I know exactly what it was that happened. Good luck.

[Q] 2013 Mac Nexus10 Root

Hi all,
Can someone recommend a step by step, up-to-date guide on how to root my Nexus10 with Mac OSX.
Also, I found this /nexus-10-one-click-toolkit-for-mac.html for example, however, it seems to have an option to lock/ unlock bootloader, download a one click root toolkit etc. etc. This confuses me?
I thought the bootloader had to be unlocked TO root? Is unlocking the bootloader an option? Can I root without unlocking the bootloader? What would you recommend?
I don't need to do this via a tool kit, don't mind following steps... but I just want a clear concise guide because there seems to be a lot of different ways to do it!
thanks
I would look through this thread. I saw a specific topic on rooting via MacOSX

[Q] Where to begin? (Uber noob, GS4 Verizon)

Hi everyone,
I'm brand new to the world of androids (just got a galaxy S4 for verizon) and I'm looking to root it and do...other cool things with it. However, I really have no idea where to start. I'm thinking to follow the following guide to root my phone:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2290798
Then what's next? What I want to is to be able to optimize my battery, get rid of junk apps first. Then maybe have some widget button that can toggle wifi/4g easily? Not really sure what to do after rooting, but I want to have an understanding of what to do after following that guide. I don't know how if I'm supposed to install a ROM after, a CWM (not really sure what that is) etc. Are there any step-by-step guides of what to do after following that rooting guide I linked above? I'd appreciate any help guys!!
I would just get it rooted so you can kill ads and other basics and read up on the various possibilities. Check all the stickies in each section and go through those tutorials of which there are many. You don't need to read every word just get yourself an idea of what is possible. Once you have an idea of what you can do you are going to have a better idea of what you want to do.
Your link 404ed for me so I'm not sure which way you were going with that. IMO for a beginner starting with chainfires autoroot is probably your easiest most foolproof way to root. An alternative is to install a pre rooted stock rom as those are starting to show up now. The threads for each have detailed installation instructions
It can wait for a bit but if you are going to stick with Android and are the type that plays with roms I would highly recomment getting titanium backup. The pay version is more useful so I would cough up, once you figure out how much easier it makes swapping roms you wont regret spending that ching. Also consider getting a root file application. I use root explorer but there are other options that work well.
