Guide to Rooting - Nexus 10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
last method to root the nexus 10?
I read different guide ,which of these successfully work?
Thanks in advance

I used the method here nexus10root.com. He doesn't tell you but you will bootloop after you unlock the boot loader. Visit the Youtube Channel of qbking777 and watch his tutorial for how to get out of the bootloop. After doing what qbking777 said, I finished rooting with the instructions at nexus10root.com. My only problem was that CWM does not stay on the N10 as the recovery so I flashed TWRP and all has been great ever sense. For ease of use I say WuFresh's method is easiest, but I just like to do things myself and know exactly what it is I am doing and not depending on a tool. That way if I screw up I know exactly what it was that happened. Good luck.

[Q] AT&T Motorola Atrix 4G Running GB 2.3.6 Build 4.5.141 Questions

Sorry if this is a repeated question, but have been looking for the answers all over the forum and have failed to find any up-to-date answers.
As the title stated I have an at&t motorola atrix 4g that is running the original gingerbread 2.3.6 build 4.5.141. I have managed to finally root it but I have been finding contradicting information on whether the bootloader can be safely unlocked and exactly how to do it. Does anyone have any recent info or insight on this? If it can be done, does anyone have an opinion on what they consider to be the best ROM manager or best ROM and why? Does anyone know much about the ClockworkMod Touch Recovery? I have worked with other phones but obviously don't know diddly about this one, but I do respect the opinions of the other members on this site. I have always been impressed by the amount of knowledge this group holds, as well as the quality. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Hope this helps...
I don't know about unlocking the bootloader on .141 but I've had it unlocked since I got the phone last year. And once it's unlocked you can't re-lock it (even if you flash another ROM and the "unlocked" text disappears from the boot screen.
I'm sure there are several ways to arrive at 141 with unlocked boot loader and root with touchrecovery but this is what I did.
First, I used RSD Lite to flash the .91 sbf on my phone and return it to stock.
Second, I used the Auto-Unlock script found on this thread. AutoUnlock Script
Third, I used the OneClickRoot script found on this thread. One Click Root Script
Fourth, I followed UncleCemka's instructions to use Moto-Fastboot to upgrade the boot, system and webtop partitions to the stock .141 versions and then reobtained root found on this thread. Upgrade from .91 to .141 Safely thread
Finally, I downloaded the ClockworkMod Touch Recovery image file from the ClockworkMod website and used moto-fastboot to erase the recovery partition and then flash the touchrecovery.img file over to my phone. You can find the touch recovery image at this website. http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
So now I have an unlocked bootloader on my rooted Atrix running stock .141 software with the ClockworkMod Touch Recovery image.
Thanks sjmoreno.
A "rollback/degrade" may be the only way, I'm just hoping that someone has done it straight from the new version. It may just be wishful thinking on my part.
Here's a thread about a guy who unlocked his boot loader on 2.3.6…theres also a guide in there. Hope you find it helpful

For the unlocking portion I was on 4.5.141 and I used the method below successfully. Do not get alarmed because you most likely will get the "failed to boot 0x1000" error but just follow the onscreen instructions. The program does everything for you, the only command you really type in is your specific device ID. It was very easy, just read the recent posts from the thread. Good luck!

I use CWM and I have had no problems with it so far. I have been running jokersax CM9 roms since I unlocked and I love it. Hope this helps.

I'm also doing what you did a few months ago with my atrix...I wanted to ask... Which method of the 2 shown above did you end up using when you unlocked your bootloader?

[Q] Please help me out on my first Nexus 4 root

Hi,
Now that I finally have my Nexus 4, it is time to set it up properly and root it. I've been browsing and reading the forum thoroughly, but as I am afraid to make any mistake in the process, I need some advise to begin.
For now I want to keep it as stock as possible. Nonetheless, I need to root is and to be able to perform Nandroid backups as well. And that's why I have the following questions, which I will appreciate if you can answer them:
1) I've been searching this forum for the best way to root the phone. So far this tutorial seems to be the simplest for the job: http://www.androidrootz.com/2012/11/how-to-root-nexus-4-on-windows.html
Is there any better way to do it, or is this the best one?
2) as far as I understood, having a custom recovery (such as CWM) will prevent the automatic OTA updates from working properly. If so, how can I install a future update?
3) Is there a way to just root the phone without having a custom recovery installed? I suppose this would make it easier to receive OTA updates (although I guess that root would be lost that way)?
I appreciate any help you can provide me!
I have always found the Nexus toolkits to be very easy to use, and work very well. You can find it here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1995688
I've never had a problem on any of my nexus devices using this method to root, restore, flash recoveries, etc.

Thanks for the reply.
In the meantime I took the plunge and followed that tutorial that I mentioned before and everything is working ok.
I already had some experience with rooting and custom recovery with my old ZTE Blade, but I was afraid of doing something wrong with a brand new Nexus 4, which I had to wait for so long .

[Q] 2013 Mac Nexus10 Root

Hi all,
Can someone recommend a step by step, up-to-date guide on how to root my Nexus10 with Mac OSX.
Also, I found this /nexus-10-one-click-toolkit-for-mac.html for example, however, it seems to have an option to lock/ unlock bootloader, download a one click root toolkit etc. etc. This confuses me?
I thought the bootloader had to be unlocked TO root? Is unlocking the bootloader an option? Can I root without unlocking the bootloader? What would you recommend?
I don't need to do this via a tool kit, don't mind following steps... but I just want a clear concise guide because there seems to be a lot of different ways to do it!
thanks
I would look through this thread. I saw a specific topic on rooting via MacOSX

Easiest root possible

Hi everyone,
I just got my Huawei Nova and i wonder if there is any easy rooting-guide or app like KingRoot.
I used this app for Honor 7 and others and it's a great one, but i don't know if it's working for the Nova.
If possible, i don't want to change recovery/rom, only small root that allows me to really control my phone.
Thanks yall
At the moment, there are no automated tool or any application on XDA unfortunately...
The easiest way is unfortunately the ADB/Fastboot way.
It's not that hard, but you have to be a bit careful going through each step:
- Install ADB/Fastboot tools, and the drivers
- Unlock bootloader (you'll need an unlock code)
- Flash TWRP recovery
- Flash Root.
You'll find pretty much all the info needed in the Nova forums, but it is a bit of research. Nothing that is worth having is easy to get!
Yes, all info is in the TWRP post under development forum. Weird issue with data partition in TWRP.
Thank you for your replies. I've seen the TWRP post with all the instructions, i just don't want to take any risks with my brand new phone for now.
That's why i used King Root app before, one tap and it does everything, without flashing anything.
Anyway, i'll wait for some time then.
Again, thank you very much.
Is re-locking the boot loader after rooting possible without losing root again?
Found the tool?

i can't root my 6p

Alright guys...I have unlocked my bootloader and attempted a number of times to root and it either doesn't do what it was suppose to or it goes into a bootloop at boot up. Yes I wipe the phone after each attempt. Is their a app that has worked for you guys. Plz keep in mind I don't know how to mess with kernals and patch files lol any advice is welcome
Thanks in advance

Have you looked here?

Without any detail on how you're attempting root or what you've tried so far the best advice would be to read through the guide I've linked above.

Sorry forgot to mention I tried with Nexus toolkit. Which worked perfect for my Nexus 6. I tried kingroot, towelroot, CF auto, and kingoroot. My phone freezes at the very end. It sat for about 30 minutes
Have you tried Magisk? I'm on the latest stock ROM and it works fine for me.
Everything you need to know about bootloader unlock, root, custom recovery, making a backup are all on the first page of this link. I followed it just a day ago, took me no longer the 10min to unlock, root and custom recovery... Best guide i've seen. https://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/general/guides-how-to-guides-beginners-t3206928
