[Q] I'm in turmoil help! - Vibrant General

Alright guys/gals tomorrow Tmobile is giving away free phones with 2 year contact or your upgrade...I have one now and another upgrade in five months...do I get the gs2 or do I give it to my sister and hope something way bad @$$ comes out?? Thoughts and advice would be greatly appreciated !!

Give your sis the GS2 because GS3 is coming out later this year.

International version right? Just think how long it will take to get to the US lol hopefully not as long a wait as the gs2
Passionately iced out vibrant!

Im holding out for the gs3 even if it takes a while. 2 years is too long. my contract was past tmo gs2 initial release. so I figured I should wait for the new best, plus all the development still going on for this phone is crazy..... ICS

T-Mobile galaxy nexus is out in the wild....just food for thought....
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium

I'm interested in the nexus but I'm so torn because of all the awesome devs we got here in the vibrant community that another phone just won't stand up because we all know how bad Tmobile is about sending out updates and the gs2 took so long to get to the US how long will we have to wait for a Tmobile gs3?
Passionately iced out vibrant!

Just wait it out, especially that the cyanogenmod team is supporting the Vibrant again. Can't wait for CM9!

Never got on any CM roms but I'm happy to hear they are supporting again only means ICS on the vibrant is going to stay strong...I'm loving neobuddy's ICS passion...but I think I'm going to have to stick it out me and this phone have been through WAY too much!

Another poll: When will we see an official Epic 4g Gingerbread distribution?

I hope Gingerbread is actually released one day with source and that it will be possible to make the alterations such as removing CIQ that were done with Froyo.
Time will tell.
Its coming, samsung/sprint will not just drop all the $$ they did, and then not put out a relase
This Epic post as brought to you via Tapatalk
We will get it. The new Conquer has it and it is basically an Epic. I think they want to resolve the reboot issue that has plagued new Gingerbread releases from the start. Then they can wash their hands of the Epic and not worry about any more maintenance releases.

Not tried the leaks but it seems like the only real remaining issues are the reboots and the GPS. Can't understand why the issues exist for what's now legacy hardware, but once they fix them we will get it officially. I'm not concerned about that.

I don't blame Sammy one bit, I blame Sprint.
I could be totally wrong, but my personal opinion is if the Epic had been on say Verizon this update would have been long since finished.
Just my IMO.
I want an Epic2 so bad right now, I think the last rdf pushed me over the line I'm affraid to say...
I wish the epic2 had a keyboard. I'm probably going to hold off on getting any new phones until the next good android with a slide out keyboard. in the meantime I really wish they would put out source to our Dev's who seem to have a much better handle on debugging and let us get our cyanogen on. Hell with a good cyanogen 7 rom I probably wouldnt get a new phone for another 2-3 years.
Agreed, I mean I have to face the facts, Ill have this phone for at least 1 more year, and I'm sure longer, since Ill probably wait till the next "thing" comes out after I'm eligable for an upgrade.

I agree here. The International version has reportedly received timely updates. I don't know if they were referring to 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 or an incremental bug fix upgrade but supposedly they don't have this issue. I can't resist anymore. I went to the Sprint store and the Manager is going to hold one for me until I get there on launch day. Maybe having 2 active phones is excessive but I can't wait until my upgrade comes. Also, I am not ready to get rid of my Epic. I still love this phone.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda premium
Verizon??? The company with the last Galaxy S phone to get updated? The single carrier not to have any SIGN of the gingerbread update ever coming out for their Galaxy S phone? The carrier that believes that the Droid Charge is a suitable replacement for THE GS2? Sprint is probably the best carrier to bet on for upgrades to non "Droid" phones...

I blame us having a keyboard. Look how fast the other Galaxy S (not counting the 2 on Verizon) devices got 2.3.x.

Farewell epic

Just wanted to say goodbye to the epic 4g. I recently traded my epic for a nexus s 4g, and I couldn't be happier. I wanted to say thanks to all the great devs that made the epic what it should have been out of the box. My decision was confirmed for me when my wife's LG Optimus s got an ota gingerbread update the other day! Before the epic! Crazy! For me its all nexus phones from now on. There will be some features that I miss from touchwiz, but for the performance and update trade off, I'd gladly go vanilla android. Thanks again for everyone who made the epic an awesome phone!

Pretty ****ty that my niece just got a new Android through METRO PCS (probably the worst provider in the U.S.), and she has Gingerbread. Glad I paid all of this money for something treated like a red headed step-phone.
Disgusted with Samsung beyond belief. What is taking so long to release this? It looks like they are working on it, but I don't understand what is taking so long. Not that I am available for an upgrade right now, but even if I were, there is nothing out there that I really want right now (QWERTY is something I really want).

It hasn't been thirty days yet and I was gonna trade it back for the Epic 4G Touch but the Best Buy website says there isn't any in stock in my area so I guess I'm stuck with my Nexus

Hey everyone,
Just wondering if people have an idea of how long they'll stay with there Epic? I don't think I've ever loved a phone as much as I love this one but I'm sure I'll be tempted away by something new this summer when my renewal credit is up.
What about you?

Samsung Note LTE for sprint or a quadcore.. whichever I fall in love with first!
Waiting on SGS3. Eligible in July. May just go for the Nexus if the 3 looks like a long wait on Sprint, though.
Waiting for LTE with a hardware keyboard... just don't like the idea of using up all my screen with a keyboard.

Ill probably run the epic for another year or so. Its a still a great phone and a big upgrade compared to my old optimistic v.
I am still getting a Google phone... like I said before, I don't want to be pissed off by samsung's lack if updates, closed source ROM, or HTCs locked bootloaders. I would actually like a Google phone on stock... I don't care if there is 65 core... single core is fast enough and dual core is amazing. Higher on a mobile phone is just stupid until software advances.

I see little reason to upgrade to something else until LTE is deployed in my area now that CM9 is on the horizon.
I might finally be ready for a phone without a keyboard. The Galaxy Nexus keeps calling me.
I will never get rid of my epic but if sprint gets galaxy note2 I will have to upgrade and keep epic for fun. Even better would be a nexus note.

New phone for an old horse?

Hey guys, I'm looking for a new (used) device since my Verizon service has been disconnected as I can't afford it any more. I'd like to get my hands on a fascinate in decent condition with a clean esn, so that I can activate it on a more affordable prepaid plan. Please PM me or post here with any offers. Thanks.
Hey man. Awesome to see you around these parts again.
Have you tried looking at swappa? I think they have used fascinates for $120 apx.
I have access to the best buy private auction site. Seems you can do a "buy it now" for 90$ about shipping included. Otherwise you could give me a limit and I could try and bid one for you...

I say we thrown in and buy JT a fascinate! Just as a token of appreciation for all he has done for this device. I would sell mine, but Im not sure that I want to part with it yet lol.
I would love to offer to buy him one outright but I am not in great financial shape myself (damn job search...college and law school were really worthwhile. :banghead: .....). But I could certainly kick in 10 bucks or so.

Yeah, the Atrix forum is pretty much nothing but goodbye threads and stupid ICS questions. And the occasional zombie thread because of maggedo's many alt accounts.
Well I'm still lurking around, but as you can see from my sig line, I have an Asus Padfone now. Love this thing. But I'll never let go of my Atrix-- it's serving duty now as my TV's "set-top-box" with it's HDMI dock and Bluetooth keyboard. Also since it supports USA bands, I use this when I go back to the States. I still hope it can get some ICS or JB love, but I dunno...
