hi all
i have been trying to install/flash cyanogen cm7 or cm9 to my galaxy s , im have big problems as it wont install
Basically have been using darkyrom 10.2 extreme edition.with kernel 2.6.35.7 darkcore 2.9.2 jvq
so i downloaded cm9 build16 from xda forum and followed the install instructions .
all went ok until i pressed install from zip from sd ,found the zip and pressed ok to install ,after this point the phone rebooted came up with a logo cyanogen (mod) then just kept rebooting . i was seeing some small writing but the phone rebooted that fast i cant read the script.
im not sure but is this whats called boot loops ?
i left it rebooting for 5 mins but it did nothing so i had to take the battery out and reflash with darkyrom to get my phone back up and running.
i really want to try cyanogen as have read great things about this rom ,but i cant get it to install
any help will be much appreciated
thanks in advance
Just pull the battery/hold the power button then get back into cwm and flash CM7 or 9 again

I was using Bionix-v 1.3.1 since last March, flashed over stock 2.2. I also had Rom Manager Premium V4.3.2.3 with CWM 2.5.2.1.
Recently decided to try out a GB rom. So I downloaded CM7 and MIUI 1.6.24. Tried to flash CM7, but just got a quick CWM screen with boot loop. Somehow using 3 button I could go to CWM screen and flash MIUI 1.6.24.
MIUI booted fine for me. One change I noticed is on power up I get the Samsung Vibrant screen and I new "Galaxy S Cyanogen Mod" screen. After that the MIUI boot animation starts.
Since it does not have GPS support I wanted to try Simply Honey 3.8 Revolution. But when I flashed Simply Homey it goes to Boot Loop showing Samsung Vibrant and then Galaxy S Cyanogen Mod screen. Then I tried other GB rom and got similar result. Only MIUI works and boots fine.
The CWM somehow changed to 3.X.X and it does not accept any FRYO rom having old style (with only update-script) file.
I even can not go to Download mode in any way. ( I have not tried the Jig method yet).
Please suggest any solution if you came across similar situation.
Because u were on a gb rom the way to get into download mode is different for gingerbread roms. Theres plenty of info on that on XDa, sorry dont knowit. But once u get the correct info to get into download mode the gingerbread way then odin to stock and all ur problems will be solved!

Thanks for your response.
I have never flashed GB rom using odin, only thing I tried is flashing CM7 using CWM. Does it automatically update the bootloader? If it does, why every other GB rom goes to boot loop?
You got a bootloop on cm7 because its a known bug, if you tried to install it again it would install just fine. You can go between miui and cm 7 easy outer roms are not comparable. I would like to know too if they install a custom bootloader, when you odin you need too install a bootloader too? That could be risky, that why i am scared to odin back.

Hey Guy's could somebody give me some advice here as i'm well and truly stuck with adding ROM's to my wildfire. . .
Right i'll try break this down as easy as i can, i bought my wildfire 3 days ago, and its running 2.2.1, i watched one of the latest video tutorials on how to root using Unrevoked (which i now know doesnt work), I installed HTC Sync to get the drivers, then uninstalled it. I then Added the modded Android USB Drivers. Run Alpharex to change my Hboot, and set to S-Off, Then tried running the latest version of Unrevoked, i got the dreaded "Is your firmware to new" message. . . I've always got debugging mode running and allow 3rd party apps!
I then mentioned this to somebody who told me of a different way around rooting my device so . . .
I then downloaded Gingerbreak.apk, then i got Astro off the Market and run Gingerbreak, my phone restarted and WAYHEY I've now got superuser access!
I got ROM Manager off the Market, then i downloaded Clockwork recovery mod 2.5.0.7, CM 7.03, Gapps 20110115, formatted my SD to fat32, put the zips directy onto the root of the SD card. . .
I made a flash recovery, go to install ROM from SD, phone restarts then i get the "Red Exclamation mark triangle"??? i've tried two different SIGNED versions of CM with no luck with either. I've tried running the Anonimo ROM and yet again i get the same red exclamation mark. . .
I've manually tried running recovery from hboot and yet again i get the same problem. . . .
I'm not doing nothing wrong here am i? As ive watched/read/researched dozens of how to's and followed every step exactly as it says!
I will be watching this post constantly as i'm itching to get rid of this nasty FROYO.
Thank you for your time.
I just had to reboot into recovery from hboot menù and selected the zip I put there before (SD root)... If you're trying to istall cm then you don't need to use Rom manager, u can use the usual recovery.
I just tried to istall the latest CM Nightly Builds and 7.1.0 release candidate, I dind't have problems!
EDIT :
Oh dude, it seems you don't have recovery istalled, just follow this tips :
Put the file attached into root of your sd card, then power down your phone, and boot into hboot menu.
let the phone check for a "PC49IMG.zip" file and then press volume up.
after that remove the "PC49IMG.zip" from your sd card and put the rom you want to istall always into root of your sd card, then just istall the rom from there!
Install Clockworkmod Recovery on your NAND Memory. There are 2 ways to achieve this:
1) Using Fastboot: (My preferred method)

2) PC49IMG

If you face issues using the Fastboot technique (I haven't tried the other one), let me know, I'll help you sort it out.
WOW!!!!! It's actually doing it!!! You've both got a thanks vote off me but one thing now (sorry) . . . . ive rebooted my phone and its shown up the blue cyogen mod 7 screen with the blue circle, and it spins round a few times then shows the droid on the skateboard again and starts spinning again, its been doing this for way over 10 minutes now, is there something missing? do i have to boot Gapps from recovery off my sd card before i restart?

No, Its not necessary to flash GApps beforehand. What you are getting is a bootloop.
Reflash Cyanogenmod, but, before doing that, make sure you do a wipe. (Factory Reset / Data Wipe Option in Clockworkmod). Also make sure you wipe cache, dalvik cache (Under advanced), and format /system partition (Also under advanced)
After clearing all this, then reflash the CM Zip file and try again.
Thank you kind sir i did these exact steps just after i wrote my last post and i'm now VERY HAPPILY running 2.3.4
Only problem i've come across so far is the vibrate option for calls/texts in any status (silent etc) doesnt work whats a bit of a shame, but with the improvement in my handset i won't complain!
I could get used to this android business

Hey everyone,
I was stupid and wanted to try Jerpela's CM7.1 Rom with ClockWorkMod. After trying the ROM I wanted to switch back to my Rom, or WolfBreak's Rom. But I had ClockWorkMod recovery because that was what was needed for the Cm7 rom. So I tried flashing the zip xrecovery 0.3 from the thread made by zdzihu. CWM recovery said that it could not install it.
So I went and booted and tried installing the apk for xrecovery. On the app when I installed it i had 2 check marks and 1 blocked symbol. I thought recovery had been installed so I rebooted and could not enter recovery. The freeXperia logo did not appear. The Rom booted and now no wifi. And also the root system is not RW, even though i'm rooted.
But even with this I could just use flashtool and flash stock gingerbread. Unfortunately the usb port on my X10 is wobbly and I cannot get connection anymore.
I would not mind staying on this ROM for the life of my X10, but unfortunately Camera, WiFi... does not work
Can someone please help me?? I really want to finish releasing my ROM and really want to see how far the X10 would go with the new sources released.
Thanks, and please help me. I feel soo crappy.
Okay
Do u have a memory card reader ?
If not then buy one
Place your sdcard in it
And copy the ROM in it
And put it on ur phone to try it ...
Hope that helps

I unlocked the bootloader on my xperia arc and rooted it and after that i flashed the cyanogenmod and after that i switched off my phone and after that it doesnt turn on it gets stuck at the xperia arc thingy..................sorry i am new to android plz help me is it bricked?????????
It's not bricked. Did you use fastboot to boot the cwm kernel? If not then that's probably the issue. Just follow the fxp instructions, make sure you're on the right firmware. The first boot can take a while.

yeah i fastbooted the cwm kernel.............and after cm7 i tried to upload some lockscreens and it got struck there so i tried to switch it off and it didnt work so i took out the battery and after that i thought that it isnt switching on coz it has low battery so i charged it for 10 mins and tried switching it on again......but it just freezes in the free xperia project screen and thats it..................so plz help me................
thank you for replying so soon to my msg...........

Hello guys.
I am in a bit of a situation.
I own a Samsung Galaxy S4 i9500.I rooted it 1 year ago and I have installed Omega rom.Whenever I try to install a new ROM i encounter a weird issue:i ALWAYS get stuck in the Samsung (welcome) screen. it seems I am "bound" to use omega rom.
The funny thing is that now i stuck at one single version of the omega rom , the V22.For instace , i tried to install omega rom v26 and i get the same issue: the samsung screen.
Please help me solve this problem. I want to install the OzcanRom .
I forgot to mention: when it gets stuck there , the phone heats up very high.
So far i tried to:
Flash 3 different kernels.
Flash CF autoroot.
Nothing worked.
Forgive my mistakes , english is not my main lang..
Best Possible wayout is
1 Flash Stock ROM
2 Go to recovery, factory Default it
3 boot it to homescreen
4 Root it
5 Enjoy New Custom Rom Installation (install ROM)
Give a try..

Hi mate ,
Do a full wipe and format internal SD ( philz touch mount and storage / format / data/ internal SD ....not sd1 that is your external one) back up first , also all the pictures music and what ever you have in your internal SD that you care for,,,place rom in the external SD
BTW do you have by any chance the chinese PIT ??
I did all those things over and over ,at least 5 or 6 times and same thing happens.
What is the chinese PIT?

Hi ,
The chinese PIT is a modification to increase the size of the internal SD
What recovery are you using?
I am using the Team Win recovery Project v2.7
my system takes 7.21 gb out of the 16 gb.
I don`t think i am usit the PIT because i have never heard of it

No you have the regular PIT
your TWRP recovery is old upgrade it and try again
I will be back in an hour with an edit about this.
Even with the last TWRP i get the same result...
Could you tell me at least why i can only install omega v22 and not v26?

what error you get while installing new ROM
The install goes well , no errors show up. I finish the install , reboot the phone and then it stays forever in the "SAMSUNG" screen. In addition to that , the phone heats up like crazy.
And the funny part is that i can only install omega v22 , if i try to install omega v26 ,it has the same issue.

Here is a great guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2265477
You can download firmwares also from SamMobile.com
Try to reflash the Rom second time.
So:
Format
Flash
Reboot to recovery
Flash again the same Rom same options.
Had a similar sounding problem
