well I tried to buy a Nexus one, Ive now given up, credit and debit card orders refused when there is absolutley nothing wrong with either account, they are business accounts with plenty of funding.
Talk about a tad insulting!
Why on earth dont they take paypal?

Cuz it's Google... so they take Google Checkout. Have you tried non-business accounts?

For a start, make sure you put the correct details in the from for the card.
Talk to your credit card company/bank and stop complaining that it's Google that are at fault. Your CC/bank company is stopping the transaction not Google.
Phone them up and talk to them. If they tell you Google is blocking it then the CC company/bank is lying to you.
Paypal isn't a bank and isn't subject to the same controls and regulations that a cc company or bank are. You also get zero protection, in law, when using paypal. Personally I'd stay well away from them.

Exactly where in my post did I blame Google for denied transactions?
I merely stated facts, and I am also quite capable of fillling in a form or I wouldnt have been running my own business for the last 6 years!
The fact is, that it's not as simple as it should be to buy the phone, I buy goods of far greater value than a phone, and never have any problems, so why the problems buying from Google?
I thought this was a dicussion forum, just wonder how many other people have had these problems buying one?
And yes, I have talked to the bank, and its a security check that flagged up, there must be a reason that transactions are blocked and or checked for Google purchases, maybe its because its the States, most of my buying is done in europe.......
Sorry if i seem to come over a little terse, but then there isnt always too much context within written words....
I can tell you that when I bought my phone, my bank held up the transaction until I called them to let them know I was spending over $300 on a phone. You may want to do the same thing.

It is simple to buy, you just have to talk to your bank. Once of the reasons is that Google don't use 3D secure which (somewhat) guarantees that the user of the card is the owner of it. CC/Banks like 3D Secure because it passes blame (liability) to the customer (see T&C's for 3D Secure/VBV signup for your card). 3D Secure/VBV is, in truth, total crap. IIRC this was born out in a recent paper from Cambridge University in the UK that did analysis and testing on it. One card company even asked for a NEW password if you got the old one wrong 3 times!

It is but it's not a problem solely associated with buying a nexus one. It applies to all online purchasing.

It's highly likely that this is the case. We get horrendous issues with Belgian cc/banks that insist on blocking client orders and then claiming it's us that is doing the blocking.

Maybe I was being over sensitive on the issue, I have to deal with cc/banks lying to their customers all the time at work.

I don't know if it would make a difference, but you can get a debit card for your Paypal account and use it.
Stop using other's people cards. =P
Really though, my order got held up for not having a phone number in the ship to information. Googles checkout/customer service for the nexus has been pretty sub par.
And I've been running a business for 8 years.
eeee by gum chuck, finally managed to get an order sent, checked the shipping info, and they managed to get the postcode totally wrong, with half the address missing.
Phoned DHL, and they were fantastic, changed all the details and made sure they were correct, she told me that they have shed loads of phone calls reference orders from google with incorrect shipping info, even though the correct details were supplied by the customers, so all I will say if you're buying one, is to check and double check every step of the process.
Man I hope the phone is worth it when it comes, i'm sure it will be, quite looking forward to it..........
Sounds to me if it were a "Google" problem, the same bad address info problem would be apparent with FedEx shipments, but only time I've heard/read about shipping issues is regarding international DHL.
So, I just got a nice email from HTC telling me that "because I'm an early HTC enthusiast" I get a free HTC case and free shipping when preordering and entering the code provided in the email. Problem is, I already preordered the phone along with the flip case. Has anyone else gotten this email? Also, what would be the chances that HTC refunds me the case and shipping costs if I call them? I already called them once as my order required me to do so.
Thanks
You should always try. And if they adamantly won't let you, I suppose someone lurking the forums might love you forever for 'giving' them a free case and free shipping.
Call and say you forgot about the code and please apply it now.

who\what number to call ?
I got the same offer emailed to me 1 minute after I pre-ordered. Let me know what you find out. I'm wondering if I need to call them to get my free shipping and case or if they'll just figure it out, because the offer email was clearly generated by the pre-order.
The code works with orders from HTC which letstalk is handling. So if you pre-ordered from your carrier than no go for the promo.

I just called the number that was on the confirmation email. After a 10 minute hold I was told that they have had a lot of calls for this issue and are trying to figure out how to get the case in without cancelling as the hold for the full amount is already on the card. They are manually noting down orders and once Corporate tells them how to add to order they will modify and you will get an email confirming the change in order.

Yeah, same. I probably wouldn't use the case anyways. I like my phones naked. I might call them after I've received the phone if the case doesn't show up with it.
I emailed HTC about the fact that I had already placed my order before HTC sent out the promotion for the free case and got a response that basically said HTC Doesn't make the cases and I should contact my carrier... *sigh*
Dear
Thanks for contacting HTC Technical Support Center!
I am glad to know you are closer to get your HTC One! Getting the case would be a great way of taking care of your device. I will be more than happy to help you with this matter.
HTC does not manufacture or sell any aftermarket components, accessories, or batteries for our devices. They are manufactured and distributed by third party companies for use with HTC devices. They are sold either by the carrier that has the specific device or from a third party official reseller of HTC branded products and accessories.
My advise right now is to contact your carrier about this great promotion, they will let you know if it is possible (or not) to apply the coupon to the pre-order you made earlier today.
I look forward to providing you with any additional assistance if required.
Thanks for your continuous support of our products and services, Chris. Should you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us through http://www.htc.com/us/support/email-support or call us at +1-866-449-8358 from 8 am to 1am, 7 days a week.

I have an extra code from HTC if someone needs it... PM me, first come, first served!
Edit: GONE
If anyone else has an extra free case coupon code they don't need I would love to have it
Thanks!
I open my email and it says "All promo codes have been claimed." HTC fails again.
If anybody wants a coupon code to pre-order via shopamerica.htc.com and will use it, please send me a PM. I won't be buying from the HTC store, so I have no need for mine.
EDIT: Taken!
Called back to apply the code. Rep said they couldn't but offered to waive the overnight shipping charge. Works for me. Have a code unused if someone wants it, PM me.

Had to cancel and re order to get the case so ended up changing from 64 to 32 GB.
Also, after placing your order make sure you click on check the order status link as soon as the confirmation email comes in. Mine showed that I had to call in for the order to proceed and this only showed after clicking on the link. Email did not mention nor a follow up email was sent to indicate customer contact is needed to proceed.

I am not willing to pay anything before I know that the software will be bugfree and usable. It's kinda stupid to buy dozens of programs which are not working at all. And fifteen minutes payback is quite a little time to see if the program is what you think it would be. And even if it's only few euros, .. if you are forced to many.. that will be quite a lot of money.

Dear Americans, we use DEBIT cards. Google Wallet only supports Credit Cards. To get a credit card here you need to have a stable income of over 20.000 a year, solid job (no freelance) and be over 21. Which rules out 80% of the users.
Most of the 750 million people in Europe can't even GET a credit card.
So it's not all cheap, greedy people. Keep your prejudice to yourself.
Oh yes, we have prepaid credit cards: They don't support refunds. So we have to find alternative means to test an app.
There, welcome to the rest of the world.
Now, I for one would also like to know if it works. Simply because I use a few apps that are only available for US users. (Stop being so selfish as a market. Really.)

A lot of Americans use debit cards on the Play Store just fine. How? Most any debit card attached to a bank account can also be run as a credit card. We call them "check cards" when they have a credit card company logo and can be run as either. The difference? Running as credit has no terminal fee or minimum purchase (as part of the credit card merchant's agreement), does not require a PIN, works in more places, but often requires a signature, withdraws from your bank/checking account (no credit line), and does not have the same consumer protections (harder to get your money back if stolen or misused). Also, many places only take one payment type or the other (credit or debit) so a check card conveniently works at both.
Most anyone with a bank account can get a check card even if they don't qualify for credit. Is it really so different there?

That would be very useful. But no, we don't have those. I'm not sure our banks even know of the concept.
We have a Debit card with a 4 digit pin. This is direct withdraw. Maestro, it's called.
For Credit Cards we need to get an additional, paid service (50 bucks a year, I believe. and that's just for the registration, you also need to pay for the card.) with Visa, MasterCard or similar, detached services. They're not directly part of the bankservice.
For instance, I have an account with ABN AMRO. If I wanted to get a credit card, I'd have to apply to VISA or ABN Gold (which then gets me a VISA card. This type of account you can only get if you have a balance of over 50.000 on the account. Which'll never happen. I'm a graphic designer.)
You can't actually pay with a credit card in the shops here. Well, you can, but doing so requires filling out a (paper!)cheque, 25 Euro administration fee and a transaction time of a week. In every shop. For every purchase. And even then 80% of the shops refuse it as a method of payment.
The advantage is that if we ever loose our card (or accidentally put the bill unshredded in the paper bin), people can't empty our accounts without the pin number; with a credit card only the cardnumber is sufficient for payment. (The security code is on the back of a credit card...)
That said, I do have a Prepaid 3V VISA card (It's an alarming shade of pink and can only be charged (pre-charged, it works like a prepaid SIM) up to a specific amount per month, but for Google Play it works well enough. Renting a car, however, has to be done over the course of 4 months.) For the apps I do consider worth the payment. (Apex, Tapatalk, Moonreader, etc.)

Not in Europe, they don't.
Our cardnumber isn't the same as the one they use in the US. It's literally just the number of the card, so when you open an account, you always get 001.
It's not personalized.
Open the account, you get:
Account 112234567, Card 001.
Get a new one card after it expires, is lost or stolen, it's:
Account 112234567, Card 002.
Payment over the internet is done via iDeal or a similar service, which requires a cardreader and works withdynamic codes.

For now we'll just have to wait for Google to get their heads out of their arses, stop moaning about piracy and start realize what the cause of it is. Until then 750 million people will just have to keep cracking.

this happened to me. if you dont get it immediately it means something is wrong with the system. email samsung to complain and you will get your codes.
i needed to go through like 5 half hour chats with customer service to get my perks.

I'm having a hard time finding $5 worth of stuff to buy there!
When the first note came out,the Samsung Store had some good stuff in there. Not now...

I purchased:
Dengue Fever - Dengue Fever (self titled CD)
Dengue Fever - Escape From Dragon House
Dropkick Murphys - Live on St Patrick's Day
Phil Anselmo / Warbeast - War of the Gargantuas
An All-Star Tribute to Lynyrd Skynyrd
An Industrial Rock Tribute to Judas Priest
All winners!
Note that I did have to search for a while to find them. I noticed that the Samsung Store search index is really messed up, and I had to try a couple of different techniques to even find this stuff. For most of these, I had to go to the artist page and look at all of the albums listed on their artist page. Searching for the album title, or going directly to a list of albums by the artists did not work (ie. these titles were not displayed at all).
If you didn't get your email with codes.
I didn't get my email at first. Later that day I found it in my GMail.
I used my Roadrunner email to register, and that's where I was expecting the reply.
However; the GMail account was the one identified with my Samsung account, so that's where they sent the email.

I registered 3 weeks ago and still haven't received my confirmation email or codes. Can you let me know how you made contact with Samsung to get the perks?
Thanks!

Registration question
I got 2 of these for family members, and have a question on how this credit is received. I'd like to attach one person to one tablet and another person to the other. It's my understanding that I'm eligible for 2 of these credits - one for each device... BUT, I'd then like to also attach a shared GMail account to each device and use the Google Play credit on the shared account.
Google says you can attach up to 3 devices to an account, and I know Android allows multiple accounts without an issue. What I don't know is how this Samsung credit sends you the $$. Do I need to register both with Samsung under the same GMail account? (Would Samsung even allow me to do so?) Or do they e-mail you the codes after the fact and let you take that code to another account?
I asked Samsung support, and they said it just wasn't possible - but that answer doesn't appear to coincide with their published Terms & Conditions, so I don't really believe it. I'm hoping someone that's been through the process can guide me to an answer I'd like to hear.
HTC has a program called Champions for employees of carrier retail stores. They are offering them a M9 at $299 off contract. Furthermore if they buy a M9 from the discount program they can trade it in for the next One at no extra charge with their "One for Life" program. I posted the screen shot from the email on my G+ page: https://plus.google.com/+PatrickHill/posts/Mr462GhpLbw
So if you work in a carrier store go sign up for Champions and get your M9 for only $299
is this us only?
My store wasn't listed, but it's a small mom and pop shop that IS an authorized T-Mo dealer. Hope I'm able to be considered and that it isn't closed to only those who work at the retail stores.
I wish I was working at a carrier retail store. Ugh maybe next time... Wondering if a friend who works there can do the favor for none workers?
These deals are generally restricted to corporate retail stores by the phone manufacturers as they do actually verify that you're eligible before allowing you to make the purchase. Could be different for this deal but I'm assuming it's not.
I am a member of HTC champions. there is a strict verification policy to ensure that you are a corporate retailer employee. The community is meant to help dealers learn about HTC and interact with other corporate employees.
Is it a U.S. only offering?

Did you use your work email if you have one? Just wanted to make sure cuz I just used my personal email to sign up but I dont know if they use the corporate email to verify or anything (I have one if they need it). And would you mind saying how long it took for you to get verified?
I went to the Montclair, New Jersey HTC event on 4-9 to pick up mine.
I should really get a part time job at a store so I can get these kind of perks. I sell enough phones usually just by talking to people about phones and helping them decide then some of these sales reps I usually school any of the young sales reps that try to help me when I'm in a store.. I actually cut into one guy's sale at AT&T because he was telling this customer sh** that just was false and set him straight real fast.. haha
Are we sure this is US only? I really hope not. I'm Canadian and my store was listed when I signed up... It even allows Canadian addresses (listing provinces and allowing postal codes, etc). I'd be deeply disappointed if we're left out of this. Does anyone know?

Sorry for the long response time.
I pretty sure that you have to set it up through your work email. You just find your store in the list and I think you also get verified with your work email.
I'm not too sure how long it took to verify but on the discount page it mentioned that if you recently created an account, it could take up to 2-3 days to process if you just started as it's a different website that you buy from and separate from HTC Champions.
I set up HTC champions well over a year ago and kind of fuzzy on the exact details but use your work email for everything HTC and you will be fine.
Edit: Found this on the promo page
Please allow for up to 48 hours if you are newly registered to Champions.

So that's the time you might have to wait and I honestly don't see this selling out quickly as it's not a very popular phone.
Did anybody get a shipping notification?

Judging by the content of your post history and your impatience I would bet you're someone who doesn't work at a carrier store, who got into Champions, got an order in and are now waiting to see if they will actually ship it or if you will get busted and it be cancelled... If that's not the case I apologize but if that is the case (which I would think someone who worked at a carrier store would be more knowledgeable than the content and questions you've asked in your posts.. for example.. asking if the GS5's all had yellow screens or if it was just yours.. if you had worked in a carrier store you could have compared it to many others in stock or that you sold) then I hope you do get busted and the order doesn't ship. I didn't post this for people to take advantage.. I posted it for legit carrier employees who might not even know about the program... Again.. If I'm wrong I apologize.

Bad day at work? Or you had a case of the Mondays? What ever it maybe and judging for your post and tone it looks like you're taking out your frustion on me. If you have a problem with I said you should PM me instead of trying to publicly humiliating me on XDA.
Now the reason why I ask is because I know someone who works at a ATT and was able to convice him to order one for me since he is part of HTC champion. Since you made this thread for people who work in retail carrier stores, I figured I would ask
for example.. asking if the GS5's all had yellow screens or if it was just yours..

Going through your post history you answered a similar question on how your HTC m9 screen was "green" and it was the resullt of glue? How did you know this? What is your evidence?
