Clockworkmod touch - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hey didn't want to make thread but in not sure if I'm apost to wipe anything before flashing clockworkmod touch sorry again rom manager usual does this for me lol
I'm a Rom Flip Flopper

When flashing a recovery, the previous installation is automatically wiped in the process. Check out the existing ClockworkMod thread.

Thank-you
I'm a Rom Flip Flopper

I just flashed it using terminal emulator. Had to find a flash_image binary. What method are you using? Or did you buy it?
I flashed back to 4EXT touch, btw. Lol

Wait, is clockwork available for the mt4g? The last time I checked it from rom manager it said its not supported for the mt4g yet.

The touch is available for free on the website, or for 1.99 in ROM Manager.

Huh? ClockworkMod has been available for the MT4G since it's release in 2010.

I'm on clockwork recovery. I meant clockwork touch. I didn't specify since we were in the topic of clockwork touch.

Yes, I just got it. I like it.

I find it ironic that this thread just popped up after I spent a while trying to figure out how to do this.
Took me half an hour to realize i needed the flash_image binary >.<
Should've just spent the $2 lol.

I love the simplicity of clockwork. Does what is for. I don't need all the fancy stuff on a recovery. I leave the eye candy for the roms.

I just had version 2.5.0.1 installed. Then I purchased and installed ROM Manager Premium. It downgraded me to 2.0.2.1.
Why isn't this the latest version? And what will happen if I just re-flash back to 2.5.0.1? Will ROM Manager have a fit? Or will it just display the new re-flashed version?
Resolved: I just used ROM Manager to upgrade back to 2.5.0.1. Piece of cake...I think I like this program!

How did you do this? I just used the Unrevoked 3 on my already rooted phone but it still shows me at the old 2.0.2.1
Rom manager can't flash a recovery.

Unrevoked 3.1 was released today, which includes version 2.5.0.1. You can always download the new version and reflash.

[Q] Do I have to update my my touch 4g to flash a rom?

Because I'm running on a rooted 2.2.1 phone. I followed gfree's ultimate root and now I want to flash a mod , so do I have to update my software?
Anyone ?...........
You can just start flashing. You're already set. Just make sure you boot into recovery and make nandroid of your current rom. Might want to update recovery through rom manager before anything though.

I personally never liked CWM. Always loved Amon Ra's.
I prefer 4EXT because it has more options.

4ext all the way
And no you can't have 2 different recoveries you could have both apps installed and just flash cwm or 4 ext and then flash the other and switch that way

Cwm. Does what is for and is simple. Less prone to **** **** up. Ext4 is too complicated in my opinion.

See this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286252
4EXT is very useful in 1 thing - it shows the partition sizes and free space. SUPER-useful.
In all the other aspects I don't care what to use, as long as both support the faster TAR backup.
(damn, I haven't been to recovery in ages... since VU 2.37 came out).
4EXT. More functional (switching back and forth on file systems) automatically adds ROM name on backups, and is themeable.
and the paid app is awesome.

I'm using MIUI.us, and its Updater works well with 4ext, while with CMW works only with ROM Manager. I switched to 4ext then.
I tried also the "touch" version, it works for me though I don't use it frequently.
4ext...
I double 4ext.
Yes, it has many features, and it is not necessary to use all of them.
However, some of them are really nice like the native ability to check md5sums, verify if there is storage space etc.
And the touch version- good bye to the volume up/down and power buttons It is something completely different, and makes it fun to flash things.
Flashing cwm/4ext back and forth is not a problem- I accidentally flashed cwm a couple of times via rom manager without noticing, flashed back 4ext.
4ext for the "wipe 'em all" option.
4ext, yes cwmr is polished more, but 4ext though has some new exciting possibilities. Like the touch ability hopefully coming soon.

Funny, I use 4ext because I feel like it's more polished. I've never been a fan of cwm but when I left my g1 I had no other option until now.

so if you had cwmr backups, can you restore them from 4ext, or do you have to flash back cwmr first?

I used gfree AFTER I HAD DOWNGRADED 2.3.4 to 2.2.1. It took forever, but it gave me TRUE S-OFF and PERMAROOT! It looks complicated, but its not that complicated. The gfree part is easy, just for downgrading, ADB setup was difficult was for me at first. PM me with questions or hit thanks button ^.^

First off, this is the wrong section. But don't worry, everyone makes mistakes lol.
And now for the recovery. If you could get into your phone, like start it up and stuff. Install this app --> http://www.4ext.net/get.php?apk
Then install the app and open it. The rest is straight forward. It will install the recovery for you. Hope it helps.
Well if u installed recovery from ROM manager then u already flashed a recovery. U can boot into recovery from ROM manager app.
The link that notorious is providing is to flash a different recovery in the same way.
