Can't link Facebook to Contacts? Solution (worked for me)

Hey guys,
first of all, I'm really excited about this forum.
I read all the time that the 2.1 owners can't link the FBook friends to their contacts.
I might have found a solution:
1. You remove your FB for sense Account
Settings/Account&sync/FB for HTC Sense​2. Now you go to "people" / Updates & events
You log in again​3. You can link a part now (At least on my Hero I couldn't see all)
4. Restart your phone
You should be able to link all accounts​

Having the same issue (using VillainROM 5.5 if that relevant) but this fix did not work. Also have not seen this mentioned as a possible bug in VR5.5 so could be a And2.1 thing.
If anyone finds any other fixes would be very much appreciated!

I posted that on another thread, but try this:
1. remove your fb account
2. clear data for com.htc.social (or whatever it's called, don't have my hero with me now) and facebook for sense. You must clear data for both.
3. Add your FB account again and let it sync automatically (don't press sync now) over 3g (don't know if it matters whether its 3g or wi-fi, did it with 3g and worked).
Hopefully it will work for you.

Facebook sync (dl09, superclean)

Alright guys, I've searched all over and this question keeps getting asked but no one cares / sees to answer it.
I am having troubles syncing my Facebook Contacts after installing DL09 and Superclean Rom w/ Ad Test Kernal (newest one).
Sync will stop and say "it's currently having problems check again".
I figured making a thread will gather some attention to this issue, as I have searched and found nothing but unanswered questions by fellow members.

I've seen that message every so often and, for me at least, it seems to mean what it says. It's always started working again after waiting some random amount of time and trying again -- though sometimes it took a few days.
I have not found any way around it other than waiting,which leads me to conclude the SNS system just sucks. I'll never understand why Samsung made their own social network sync system when the Facebook and Twitter apps have far-superior systems built-in -- both of which SNS overrides and disables. Yet another benefit of AOSP roms!

Well my brothers phone, without Superclean ROM, works perfectly.
Clearly this issue is connected?

Anyways, can you simplify your question? I'm confused with the way you worded. Did you want facebook sync support from samsung our from the facebook app?

After rereading, do you have touch wiz launcher still installed?
Samsung's facebook requires tw launcher. But you would get fc acore.

We'll now I'm plain confused. I tried my dads facebook login on my phone, worked perfectly (he's got about 30 people). I tried mine again and it says currently experiencing problems. However, it was working perfectly earlier today on my account on DJ05, before I upgraded.
Now I feel like this has nothing to do with superclean, but my account (even though it was working earlier)?
I assume this is Samsung's SNS, how do you sync through the Facebook app?

Yes, I was going to tell you that I have no issues with sync with fb sns. The fb app doesn't sync with this phone.
Try logging in to fb on a computer. There may be a password issue.

The Facebook Android app works perfectly, I've been on it all day and my computer.
I'm thinking, before I upgraded to DJ09 I backed everything up (backup pro). Contacts, call, apps, you name it.
I'm wondering if when I restored it, it corrupt(edly) installed the contacts and the facebook login so maybe because the phone thinks its already connected it wont?

Well, make sure you don't restore system settings. Especially between versions because the settings get funny between versions.

I just bought my Fascinate with DL09 already on it and I'm having the same issue with Facebook not syncing my contacts. My phone is still completely stock so this is an issue with the Samsung software.

Facebook contact sync

I am wanting to find out how to solve an issue i am having with facebook sync, I was using bionix 1.3 but decided to change to deodexed kb1. I will provide all info just to help. I have voodoo installed as well, also have used the 6 lockscreen mod by whitehawx. Thats it other than that just stock. With bionix, and other custom roms including cm7, I could select in the facebook app to sync with existing contacts, I like it for the pictures more than anything else. Now the option is gone and with accounts and settings it wants me to choose all or to go through and select each one, which I dont want to do, I have to many contacts for that. I looked though the bionix rom and it uses 3 apk's for account and sync and contacts, where in stock deodexed kb1 has four associated with it. Can someone shed some light on this? I'm not sure if apk is relevant or not. I also have copied build prop over from bionix rom just to try and see if that would make facebook app think i was on different rom and give me the option but that didnt work either. I'm lost Not even sure if im anywhere close to ballpark as to what is causing this. I have searched through the forums and all over the web and have seen same issues talked about but no solution, Im aware google disabled this for the nexus s due to facebook not using api correctly but I want it.

Maybe you need to find an older version of the facebook app and use it. Google may have only disabled the contact sync for the nexus s but facebook just recently updated it's program and might have turned them all off in preparation for some new system. Just a thought..
I just recently switched from bionix to kb1 as well..but I just sync all contacts and only display the ones with phone numbers.

Are you freezing any apps through Titanium Backup? If you are then defrost them all and then try and sync. I had that same issue and that worked for me.

im having a similar issue. Im running bionix 1.3.1 and during initial set up, i synced my facebook contacts with my google contacts, but after i was done all my facebook contacts disappeared completely. I only have my google contacts. I cant seem to re-add my facebook contacts to sync them together.

Do either one of you use Titanium Backup? Is there anything frozen like DRM,etc? If so unfreeze that should solve your issue. Its not the FB app cause I had this problem. Also go onto your contacts and make sure that the fb sync shows up. If not then try reflashing the rom.

I dont have anything frozen on titanium backup. I tried syncing my account again, fb account showed up in contacts, then disappeared again. I deleted the fb account to my contacts list and re-added it and it worked. So I guess to OP, delete/remove the account from your contact list and add it again, see if that works.

dont have anything frozen with titanium backup, only thing i use it for is to restore apps after flashes never system data or anything else

Facebook not updating in my contact card

Since updating to KF3, my personal contact (as in me) in my contacts list no longer seems to be linked to my facebook account. My picture hasn't changed and it doesn't show my status, nor does the facebook icon appear as a linked account.
I also get "service temporarily unavailable" errors when trying to update facebook in social hub.
Oddly enough, my friends' contact pictures seem to be updating properly, as do activities and media. It's just mine. Seems minor, but it's driving me nuts.
I already removed the social hub facebook account and added it back, removed facebook app, cleared data on social hub and contacts, and restarted the phone. It was updating my info fine before the firmware update. Bug?

A couple of us lost IM when we moved to KF3. With 2.3.4 rumored to be out in two weeks(ish) I'm not going to sweat it for now. It sounds like you found some more broken Social Hub stuff in KF3.

ultimately a small sacrifice to make for the better battery life and other improvements, but frustrating none the less.

Same issue here
but not sure about but it started to happen today a few days after the update to the KF3 firmware, I also would like this fixed

Early in the morning I tried and it did not work, after about six hours it starterd working again, I had the same problem that you do, even I posted that I was having the problem, but after several retries it started working. I have the KF3 firmware, oh and I doubt we will be seeing the official 2.3.4 any time soon, , I dont want to flash this new device just yet, and it looks rather complicated. please let us know if you solve the problem, or it was just a samsung outage...

The official update has always come out a couple of weeks after a leak. This time shouldn't be any different.

Mine is working normally today! Social Hub gives me Facebook Updates and my contact picture updated as well. Odd. Temporary outtage?

following all the instructions.
The rom works fine, all in the phone is functional but, unlike other people I do like the blur social capabilities of the phone and to my surprise, other than some T.Mobile social crap there is no way to set up a Facebook or Twitter account via Motoblur.
When you set up your moto account, there is the option to set up a mail, yahoo, enterprise, gmail or T social stuff but not direct link to Facebook, Twitter, Picasa and all the other stuff my froyo firmware had.
Why is that, whas that disabled in the rom and not advertised in the post?
Please some help with this....

I think it's because of the chinese leak version. in china facebook is not allowed. just like all google-services, but they have been added to the rom manually.
maybe it's difficult to add native facebook support to the whole system?
but that is only what i think. some dev should tell us what exactly is the problem here.

Yes, I thought it could be because of the rom being chinese leak but I did add the social.zip that is on the thread and still nothing...
Weird thing is that despite the warning my accounts didn't FC at all... it's kind of strange and I'm not a dev so...
