Android on NAND and WP7 on SD? - HD2 General

So, I'm planning on buying an HD2! I'd like to have Android on the NAND (as I'd use Android more, most likely), and WP7 on the SD card. Is this possible? I've heard mixed things.
Thanks,
Mephikun

Nope, only the other way around.

Aww man.
So, I'd have to have laggy android?
Thanks for the help.

I had the same question ))
But after seen the reply ......I became ((((

I want also test WP7 in my HD2, beside Android, but i heard there is no possibility to sync with Outlook over USB in WP7?
So WP7 is no more interesting for me.
Ryker

Android is not at all laggy with SD card.. Buy Class 6/10 SD card and good to go..
I have class 2 SD card and ICS 4.0.3 is smooth (lil laggy )

Android SD Card Forum Dying

It seems as if the HD2 forum for the people who would use SD cards for their Android builds is dying, if not dead already due to NAND. I came from a previous Android phone, having to plug in my phone to get the builds and flash them to my phone. I like to see developers going back to the SD scene.
Me too. If it makes you feel any better I'm trying to convert some nand builds to SD but I'm having trouble and they wont boot.

The rush to NAND builds seems really stupid to me. With SD you have the best of both worlds. You can flip-flop between operating systems on the fly. I still use the WM6.5 but I like to play with Android, why should I have to give up either.
Come on developers, keep up the good work with SD builds. My ideal senario would be to have WM, Android & WP7 on the same phone at the same time and choose the one I want that moment...

sorry to break it to you but sd is not in demand anymore, nand has better battery life and overall performance plus clockwork recovery going for it but i think it will pick back up once mag can boot wm6.5 and android from sd without the extra things u have to do, most people aren't that tech savvy with android so they are waiting for an update from mag...

Deal with you... i hope someday from one menu...we able choose any os we want to run...
1. winmo 6.5
2. winmo 7
3. Android
4. Ubuntu
5. Meego
6. others...
ha ha ha....if that came true... i will keep this phone forever....

[Request] SD Builds Updates

After the NAND release SD builds are totally abandoned ... no updates at all.. some still want to use winmo 6.5 for many reasons.. for me it's volume with SRS WOW HD .. volume is super loud and it's very usefull while watching movies in crowded places like trains and such....and there is WP7 now, we can dual boot WP7 and Android..... like this there are many uses, so some like to stick with SD builds.... recently if you goto that forum all you can use is december updates..
Please chefs update SD builds too if possible...I would like to have a latest skinned RMNET Desire HD ..
Yes, Please update SD builds...
I was going to write similar post but careful enough I checked the forums and found someone who thinks exactly as I do.
After NAND builds appeared I suddenly realized, I don't want just android I want both and it's sad to see that most of the SD builds are from December. I still think that Winmo builds made by NRGZ's are great and I don't want to part with that if I have choice to have both systems running.
I also think that windows isn't that bad afer not better but not that bad to get rid of it.
Same thought ... hope some chef can spare some time on checking the SD Build
+1 i would like to see a coredroid Hd 0.5 Sd.

+1... I don't understand why so many wanted to turn our multi-OS booting superphone into just another android phone. It takes away what makes the HD2 special and gives it an edge over other high-end android phones. Flashing android to nand makes it into an EVO with not as good hardware. It can't do anything that someone with an evo or desire HD can't do better. But with the ability to boot winmo or wp7, then it can do a lot that the EVO and desire can't do. I'm using WP7 and booting android from SD right now, and cotulla says he's working on a WM6.5 build that can be booted from SD, so if that works out, we can boot WP7, WM6.5, Android, Ubuntu and hopefully meego all from the same phone anytime we want! It will be great!

[Q] Ordered a new HTC HD2

My first HD2 got all messed up and overheated way too much and it was basically useless. Before it started overheating I installed HSPL 3.0 and went crazy on ROMs. Then Android came along and basically the same thing happened again.
I loved Android way more than any ROM I ever installed, so my question is, should I install a custom ROM when I receive my new HD2, or is it best recommended to do that? If so, why?
I'm only going to use NAND Android, but still, I just want to get some opinions. Also, on my 1st HD2 I never formatted my SD card, is that something crucial or no? Because my phone still ran the ROMs and still ran Android.
Random: Should I sell this new HD2 and get a better phone that comes with Android? I'm on T-Mobile, and I've been eying the Nexus One but I'm sure that if I buy it I'll greatly regret it cause something better will come out.

If you were only planning on running Android I'd say the best thing is what you suggested, try and sell it or maybe trade it for a native Android device.
But at the same time if you want to use multi OS's in the future stick with your HD2
Well IMHO, the HD2 blows the N1 out of the water as far as perfomance is concerned. Seeing as the HD2 is crazy afforadle right now, and you can put WinMo, Android, Ubuntu, WP7 and MeeGo on it, I would definately stick with the HD2.
Awesome, thanks guys
So now I would just like to know should I load a ROM on it for better performance or for whatever other reason, even though I'm planning to only use Android? (Sorry if noob question)
Also, is formatting my SD card crucial?

please! help me with these questions
if you run android and sd card, format sd card is very crucial. You have to format it the prefer or right way. I use window mobile to format. If you run with nand, i dont' think format matter.
What dealkk is saying is formatting the sd card with FAT32 is very crucial for running android off of one's sd card. So in NAND, it's not needed to format the sd in FAT32, but it could be useful if you do.

[Q] Can you quad boot Android,Ubuntu,WP7,& WP6.5?

Just wondering if you can boot all of those!!
no their is no way to quad boot [YET]. Cotulla announced that the dft team are working on a sd windows mobile 6.5x build to run from the sd card, i also read that the devs behind the ubuntu are going to add the option to boot from magldr, and if your interested the meego build that steve is going to release is also going to run from magldr. so in conclusion you can run wp7 from nand (with a partitioned sd card), android from sd card, and WinMo 6.5x(when released), and ubuntu from sd card ^.^
Holy cow that is awesome thanks for the info!!
and this weeks bigest geek award goes too....
would be kinda cool, because? because we can!
All those wonderful OS's under one roof, iOS wasnt invited anyway

BAD NEWS FOR DUAL BOOT MODE IN WP7 AND Android

Don't waste your time!!!! OR at least if it's stable prepare yourself for the Bad Day
After several attempts form our friends to have a stable double system
WP7 and android.... on the same handheld, which was a huge success for developers...
The fake stability of what so called symbiosis got to end up
to be a saprophyte.....?!??!?
Discovered after a good usage of both data over gprs and voice calls, the movement from WP7 to Android was smooth, but the move from Android to WP7 was not after a while.
Several times different Android Versions,
the conclusion was SD card data good bye...
WP7 for good, Android data recoverable( camera, business sheets,or games). for 8G,or 16G sd cards...
we still need time to find the best combination, or at least find the real gap....
i welcome any suggestions or ideas to be shared....

I have dual boot system. Wp7 installed in Nand and gingerbread (american Android) in SD booted from magldr. So far they are working well. Can you specifically explain what the problems are?
Thanks,
I too have both working very well with no problems at all.
M8... this is a bold statement to make ...
Sd cards get broken avery day even with just winmo...
With no more info provided this is not to be taken seriously....
If you have any more info for this please share with us.
Else stop posting big loud statements like this
i don't get it, what is this post saying?
dual booting is not possible, or use of your SD card will break it eventually? :S
At least provide proof, or well, make sense

what in sam hill are you talking about?
agreed, firstly this makes no sense, are you talking about moving from one to the other? quite a lot of folk got this working without issues so please explain in clear english
and rename this thread, WP7 has enough bad PR that is in reality utter nonsense without even more false statements spreading bad feelings.
it is normal that sd cards get slow or ven corrupt and needs to format with allot of use no thing to be taken seriously ,
Thanks and regards
