[Q] Can you quad boot Android,Ubuntu,WP7,& WP6.5? - HD2 Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting an

Just wondering if you can boot all of those!!

no their is no way to quad boot [YET]. Cotulla announced that the dft team are working on a sd windows mobile 6.5x build to run from the sd card, i also read that the devs behind the ubuntu are going to add the option to boot from magldr, and if your interested the meego build that steve is going to release is also going to run from magldr. so in conclusion you can run wp7 from nand (with a partitioned sd card), android from sd card, and WinMo 6.5x(when released), and ubuntu from sd card ^.^

Holy cow that is awesome thanks for the info!!

and this weeks bigest geek award goes too....
would be kinda cool, because? because we can!
All those wonderful OS's under one roof, iOS wasnt invited anyway

Quad Boot?

im fairly new to winmo phones, but fluent with computers, and was wondering if anyone has opinions/suggestions for quad booting os's on the hd2. i was thinking winmo, iphone, android, and backtrack or something, would be kinda badass any ideas on partitioning or flashing it would be sick, cheers.
possibly putting it on a seperate micro sd card? just a though

well seeing as Winmo is your only option as of now, you can keep of dreaming!
well ive seen more than a few dual-boots with android, why not just double it? lol
!
xda-dev didn't boot android yet...we r still lacking alot of drivers...
indeed winmo is the only option for us now!;\

android isnt working on the HD2, and it isnt nearly as simple as installing it - the chefs need to completely reverse engineer sections to get it to work on the HD2 and then theres finding drivers that work with the hardware...
also nobody has even tried to get the iphone OS working on the HD2 mainly because most people would consider it a limitation not an expansion of possabilities, it wouldnt function on the phones hardwre as it is written specifically for the phone unlike android that is written for multiple devices.

Could it be....yup, HD3 on the horizon!

schweet !

Saw this earlier today. Now just throw a keyboard on it & i'm sold. I'll get it w/o the keyboard, but would prefer it.
I won't get a WP7 phone until it has MicroSDHC expansion, cut and paste and everything else they are too stupid to include in a first release.

guess msdhc slot is not a priority for most people, even on xda-developers.....
look at how many people are set with WP7

M$ has used this sort of stupidity very well in its history to become the megacorporation they are. It's called planned obsolesence. Why give it to you free now, when they can charge you for it later?
Im really having a feeling that WP7 is going to drive the small yet strong community of WinMo users away from MS. Theyre pretty much driving away their enthusit community who wants something they can mod and hack over to android. Platform lock down is a reason i don't go apple, and MS doing the same now is going to drive me away.
We'll see to what extent WP7 is locked down or just plan sucks, but especially for me something like no SD card sucks big time, unless these phones are going to ship with a MIN of 32GB on board. however lack of a SD card slot will probably make the ability to boot android on the phones very difficult if not impossible, and definitely no ability to essentially dual boot like we can now.
I know im personally eying a switch over to android, If not running android on my HD2 i might get a TMO G2.
knowing M$, I don't think I want position myself into the front row to be a test subject lol.. i'd rather wait for a possible cooked rom with windows 7 for the HD2, the HD2 is the only phone i've ever owned that I did not lose interest and it's been like what, almost a year.. I think our snap dragon hasn't exactly been optimized with even today's software yet, the 1GHZ is hungry for more still! lol..
Just IMHO..
The way they've got us over the barrel on this one is that it's a whole new OS and won't support legacy apps. So development on our platform will die, and in fact has already begun. That's the reason we can't find a kindle app for our phones. Same with Borders' ebook reader. There's no money in beating a dead horse. It's the apps that are driving the industry, and we aren't going to get any new ones.

Android SD Card Forum Dying

It seems as if the HD2 forum for the people who would use SD cards for their Android builds is dying, if not dead already due to NAND. I came from a previous Android phone, having to plug in my phone to get the builds and flash them to my phone. I like to see developers going back to the SD scene.
Me too. If it makes you feel any better I'm trying to convert some nand builds to SD but I'm having trouble and they wont boot.

The rush to NAND builds seems really stupid to me. With SD you have the best of both worlds. You can flip-flop between operating systems on the fly. I still use the WM6.5 but I like to play with Android, why should I have to give up either.
Come on developers, keep up the good work with SD builds. My ideal senario would be to have WM, Android & WP7 on the same phone at the same time and choose the one I want that moment...
SR
sorry to break it to you but sd is not in demand anymore, nand has better battery life and overall performance plus clockwork recovery going for it but i think it will pick back up once mag can boot wm6.5 and android from sd without the extra things u have to do, most people aren't that tech savvy with android so they are waiting for an update from mag...

[Request] SD Builds Updates

After the NAND release SD builds are totally abandoned ... no updates at all.. some still want to use winmo 6.5 for many reasons.. for me it's volume with SRS WOW HD .. volume is super loud and it's very usefull while watching movies in crowded places like trains and such....and there is WP7 now, we can dual boot WP7 and Android..... like this there are many uses, so some like to stick with SD builds.... recently if you goto that forum all you can use is december updates..
Please chefs update SD builds too if possible...I would like to have a latest skinned RMNET Desire HD ..
Yes, Please update SD builds...
I was going to write similar post but careful enough I checked the forums and found someone who thinks exactly as I do.
After NAND builds appeared I suddenly realized, I don't want just android I want both and it's sad to see that most of the SD builds are from December. I still think that Winmo builds made by NRGZ's are great and I don't want to part with that if I have choice to have both systems running.
I also think that windows isn't that bad afer not better but not that bad to get rid of it.
Same thought ... hope some chef can spare some time on checking the SD Build
+1 i would like to see a coredroid Hd 0.5 Sd.

+1... I don't understand why so many wanted to turn our multi-OS booting superphone into just another android phone. It takes away what makes the HD2 special and gives it an edge over other high-end android phones. Flashing android to nand makes it into an EVO with not as good hardware. It can't do anything that someone with an evo or desire HD can't do better. But with the ability to boot winmo or wp7, then it can do a lot that the EVO and desire can't do. I'm using WP7 and booting android from SD right now, and cotulla says he's working on a WM6.5 build that can be booted from SD, so if that works out, we can boot WP7, WM6.5, Android, Ubuntu and hopefully meego all from the same phone anytime we want! It will be great!

Need help regarding purchase of HD 2[Thread closed, since I have got my answer :-) ]

Hi guys,
I am originally from the xperia x10 section.
I am gonna buy a windows mobile for my sister on her birthday next Month. She always wanted to buy a windows phone which is fast and stable. The looks of the xperia x1 and HD 2 amazed her.
I wanted your help to choose the best of the two. I know hd2 is superior in specs.
Are there many roms for the hd2?
What might be the future of the device?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
Cheers!
AdY
before you get lots of 'are you serious? can you not see??' type replies, , look around the forum, its the most hacked phone around. winmo android, wp7, dualboot, nand android, sd android, ubuntu, win95, they all work on hd2.
roms, there are loads, what do you want? winmo 6.5, winmo 6.5.5, win phone 7, android eclaire, froyo, gingerbread, have one android on nand another on sd card if you want, run win phone 7 fron nand and dual boot it with sd card android, loooads of options, tehre isnt another phone about with as much choice. (You only have to compare teh number of sub foryums the hd2 has.)
As for the future, it has no future. It is the last of a dying breed. From here on out the phones will be a little less hackable. Thats not to say they wont be hacked, far from it im sure, but the choice of what you run on it is likely to be more limited, and you are unlikely to see a phone that is so easy to switch between OS's for some time.
I for one will by buying up two or three hd2's in the next few months, shoudl last me a year or three.
Hey bro! Thanks forbthe reply. Yes ibhad checked out the forum and I was pretty amazed with the amount of hacking that has been done on this phone.the reason why I am attracted to this device is that it supports or rather runs many popular platforms. I saw a couple of video reviews from phone dog, they say that the device freezes many times! My x10 used to lag but now I have tweaked it, it runs silky smooth. So are there methods to remove the freeze issue?
Thanks a ton

hd2 or xperia?
hd2 can run ubuntu meego android windows mobile win phone 7 believe it or not even full version of windows 98/me its got a snapdragon 1ghz processor its soooo customizable from boot screens to roms its just a better deal and now you can pick one up on craigslist for under 200 ive seen as low as 150 hd2 is the way to go
I think the biggest thing to consider is how your sister will be able to use the HD2.
Look at what she uses now, and how that is different from the HD2, how tech knowledgeable is she.
Is she interested in changing the ROM? Will she be able to do that? Will you do that for her?
My niece had a Wm6.x phone, but never truly used it to even a fraction of its abilities, and always had problems with it. [Now she has a Blackberry, and is doing great.]
Hey thanks for the reply! By looking at what you said this phone looks very promising! Will definitely go ahead with thus now
