[Q] ManualNooter 5.x (GMPOWER) over existing rooted setup? - Nook Color Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a NC that was rooted using MN 4.5.18 and 4.6.26. It recently got the v1.4.1 update OTA. Can I run the latest MN 5.x version provided by GMPOWER over this install without reimaging everything?

Can I OTA 3.29 if I am rooted?

I was wondering if i can do the 3.29 update if I am rooted? Or do i have to unroot to do the update.
I have to restore a stock recovery as the update wouldn't apply with ClockworkMod installed. I didn't have to change anything else though and I applied the update OTA (instead of using ClockworkMod to see if the update would work).
I'm rooted with the Unrevoked Forever method. After the update I just reapplied ClockworkMod, reinstalled the Super User application (which was prevented from running after the update of course), and all my root requiring applications were content.

[Q] Rooted on 2.3.4, upgraded OTA now cannot root

Hi,
I was running 2.3.4 on my Defy+, and sucessfully rooted it using SuperOneClick.
Then installed 2ndinit and tried to install CM7.1, but it failed (as per http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21272667#post21272667), so I tried an OTA update, and it updated it to 2.3.6
Now however, the phone is not rooted (presume the OTA 'unrooted'), but superuser is still in app drawer and 2ndinit boot menu is there still.
In boot menu, if I try 'customer recovery', it fails, telling me something doesn't exist - I presume because it's not rooted.
However, now I cannot root it running 2.3.6 - I have tried a heap of different methods posted in threads, but I still cannot root it...
So... other than a new rooting method, I was thinking to restore it to 2.3.4 where I can root it and try CM again.
I did a stock recovery on the phone, and it returned it to it's factory state, BUT still updated as 2.3.6 - stock recovery did not return it to 2.3.4, nor did it remove superuser app or 2ndint.
How do I / can I revert it back to 2.3.4 so I can essentially start again?
I can't 'uninstall' 2ndint or access Nandroid (I have a nandroid backup of original 2.3.4...) as it's not rooted!
Thanks in advance!
Rob
Fixed by completely bricking the phone (black screen, no boot at all, but RSDLite recognised it) by installing some unusable ROM (don't ask why), and then using RSDLite to flash a new 2.3.6 Defy+ Rom and then that rom was rootable using SuperOneClick.
The ROM that I got on there working was "DEFYPLUS_U3_4.5.1-134_DFP-132_BLUR"

Rooted, Franco Kernel, CWM - Received 4.2.2 OTA!

Hi,
I'm in a bit of a pickle.
I'm rooted, have CWM regular recovery installed, and on Franco's r72 kernel.
My phone says it has downloaded the 4.2.2 update.
so now if I want to update, what should I do?
I have found a "stock recovery enabler" from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1995440
Questions:
- Do I need to flash a stock kernel BEFORE I install the above revert zip to stock recovery? Or is it ok to be on Franco kernel throughout the update process and stock recovery?
- Would I lost root if I update?
- Because of my current configuration, would I lose any data if Install an OTA update?
TIA.

Read this thread about OTA installlations http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2145848.
Installation will abort, just flash a custom rom..
I'll give you a nickel for your pickle

[Q] What's the best option for rooting i9505G on stock 4.3?

Hi -- I've just installed the OTA update for Android 4.3 on my Galaxy S4 i9505G phone (following the Heimdall instructions here to restore stock 4.2.2 before installing the OTA update to 4.3) and I'm wondering what the best option is for rooting. I'm thinking not only about getting root access now but about making it as easy as possible to accept the next OTA update when it comes, presumably in the next few months.
I think I could root via Chainfire's Auto-Root method or by the method posted here, which requires installing ClockwordMod Recovery. Does anyone have any input on which of these paths (or any other!) are the best route for rooting the the i9505G running stock 4.3? Will installing ClockworkMod Recovery make it any harder to download and install the next (post 4.3) Android OTA update whenever it comes?
Thanks!

OK -- I ended up using this method, which seems to have worked great and left me with a stock bootloader again.

Malladus 1.2.5 and update

This morning I woke up to an update sitting on my verizon phone. It is rooted and has CWM recovery. I cancelled the update. Got to the office and install Malladus 1.2.5. My question is:
1) The Phone already downloaded the update. Where can I find it to delete it out of my system.
2) Does Malladus disable the auto updates in the future?
