[Q] IC Power is dead - HD2 General

After trying modded USB cable for USB host, forgot to unplug from phone and PC then suddenly my phone shut off and came out some smoke from battery pin, the power cable clash with the ground cable
luckly I still can power on my HD2
then realize can't charge or connect to PC
brought it to the repair just to check, they said its the IC power,
here is the question, does anyone know where can I buy this online cheap?? and how can I fix it??

i would recommend you to repair it locally as i feel that power ic's are not sold separately !!
if the power ic is unrepairable then i guess you'll have to remove it from another hd2 and use it with yours or change the motherboard !!

HTC touch charge problem

when i connect my phone to the charger/ usb cable it does not charge or connect to the pc. woul dthis be a battery problem or a hardware malfunction? also my phone is flashed and i have no battery life left, so i am unable to reflash to the original rom and send it for a warranty.
anyone know how i could fix this?
PS: thankyou in advance
Hi,
i have the same problem. Suddently, my touch dont charge anymore. Connector is dusty but seems ok, the touch boot but low battery. Any idea ? Have you solved this problem ?
thanks
Here is a solution, to send for warrenty, get a new battery from ebay.
Flash to stock rom and 2.x HardSpl and IPL and send back to warrenty.
I did that for mine.

Talking about your port, You guys can try to look for parts online and DIY it.
Are you guys sure that it is not the cable / adapter causing problems?
Didy ou try to charge directly using a travel charger (not through PC) and also try another cable another usb port in the PC or another PC
Yeah, i've tryed to plug it directly to AC charger, but without result, and my touch isn't warranty anymore. I'll try to open it but i've to find first the right tool !
I think that it could be a loose or burnt connection in the motherboard or the hardware cables which links to the charging port.

Problem in charging

Hey ppl.. I hold an eflin.. What happened is that the black colored chip sort of thing in the USB connecting port has got damaged. Now am not able to charge my phone properly. Everytime I place it for charging, i need to keep something to hold the pins intact. Now is that the chi part is replacable or do i have to replace the motherboard on the whole..?! Can some one educate..?
can someone pls advice?...
Go tp a proper mobile repairing shop and they will replace the connector. would be done for 600 to 700 Rs. I had the same issue!!

[Q] Charging problem

Hey all,
It seems my HTC HD2 is unable to receive any kind of charge. I've used a different usb cable, my roommate's myTouch 4G cable and a friend's HD2 cable, and they all cannot charge my phone as well. My phone doesn't recognize any cable that is being plugged into it. I've made sure I'm in the right USB connection setting, checked the little 3 gold prongs where my battery receives (electricity?) from the phone to make sure those aren't situated in an odd bent position, but alas nothing. Could it do something with the actual part on my HD2 that the cables plug into? Phone is currently dead and I have no phone and am out of warranty. Is it a part I can easily replace?
Thanks for your help!
Edit: It seems the HD2 was launched on March 16 so I'm a couple of days past the 1 year mark fo warranty. Do you think I could persuade tmobile or HTC into replacing my phone even though it this slim out of warranty?
Does your lex still show that the battery is charving when you plug your HD2 up to your charger? If so you may have a faulty battery. If not then it could be a hardware or software problem. I suggest you buy another battery and see if
Nope, the chord isn't even recognized. It's as if nothing is plugged in when in fact something is.
Sounds like a broken microUSB port. Unnless you have a warranty, you're out of luck. To replace the port, you'd need a whole new mainboard.
Yes if your HD2 is not recognizing the USB cable then yes it sounds like you have a bad mini USB port on your HD2. You can try a hard reset if you want to but make sure to back up all your personal information first, but I kinda doubt it will do you any good to hard reset. You will have to get the main board replaced if this is your issue, wi h I believe it is. You can either find a cell phone repair shop or do it yourzlc ic you feel comfortable enough doing it. replacing the mainboard requires no soldering as all the ribbons just plug in. You just need to be gental with everything as you are working on it.
Now to get you by until you can either fix the phone or just to be abale to harvesting the battery for day to day use. You can by a external charger. Or you can take a old USB cable or buy a cheap USB cable and cut the end off of it. Strip it back a little and the zrip back the red and black wires a little. With a little tape attack the red wire to the positive(+) battery terminal and the black wire to the negative (-) battery terminal. Then plug the cable into your wall charger, don't worry the oltage comming out the wires is very low and will not hurt you, in fact you can not even feel it. They are marked on the battery. I do suggest just using this as a very temporary fix until you can vet an external charger or get your HD2 fixed as I do not know if this may be detramental to your battery with long term use. Also I give credit to Senior Member Samsamuel for this idea as he is the one I learned it from.
I contacted HTC and they confirmed the phone is still under warranty. The problem is I'm running CM7 on my phone so I'm asssuming when they start it up and view I have a 3rd party ROM, they'll void my warranty. I would rather fix it myself personally but I don't know anything nor do I really want to touch/pay for a new mainboard. But if my phone does get it's warranty voided, I'll have to pay either way. I think I might just go ahead and buy an external battery charger until i figure out what to do

magldr wont let battery charge when phone is off.
No fault with phone, dead battery and user error.
Use another hd2 that isnt running magldr to charg ebattery, OR use friends battery to flash to winmo and use winmo to charge battery, OR take an old usb cable, mini or micro, cut end off, find red and black wires, connect red to + black to - on the battery (the markings are on there faintly) and plug in to wall charger for a half minute or so then try start phone with real usb cable plugged in. should be enough charge to boot far enough into android for the charging to start. If nothing at all happens, then maybe there is really a problem.
You can hold the wires on by hand, you wont feel it, or i used tape.

stock ROM. download it, extract the .NBH from the .exe, stick the .NBH on the SD card and rename it to LEOIMG. Hold volume down + power when the phone is off.
may i repeat, just to confirm you considered this before you go about getting it repaired,, , if the battery is flat and magldr is installed, the phone wont charge.nothing will happen when you plug in usb.

Hi
You emailed me on this as well. You also gave some more info regarding the battery connectors being broken from the motherboard.
If the gold battery connectors have come off the motherboard then they are almost impossible to reconnect. You see, the motherboard on the device is what is known as a multi-layered board. There are connections that run between the layers on the board. The board cannot be split so that you could re-solder the battery connectors. Most often the battery connectrs split off between the layers where it is impossible to re-solder them.
If you are very very lucky the connectors have split on the surface and there might be enough of the wires on the surface of the board to have them re-soldered, but I think the chances are very low for this. You may also find that the on-board fuse has blown. This is a tiny component, but really it hardly matters unless you can be sure you have fixed the battery connectors!!

Faulty USB Connecter in phone. Unchargeable.

My usb port is faulty. It wiggles a bit and wont allow the phone to charge unless i hold the usb cable in an exact certain position. What is worse it cannot connect to PC as zune wont recognise it. I tried various cables and various PCs. Same problem.
HTC say the usb port is not covered in the warranty and want to charge me between £60 - £100 to repair it.
i am hoping there is a quick diy fix.
Anyone please?
For the charging issue, you could just buy a battery charger. That obviously won't help when it comes to updating your phone though.
If you, or someone you know, has soldering skills, you can get a new USB connector for $4 Canadian off eBay. Even if you have to bring it to a shop to get it done, I'm sure it'll be a lot cheaper than what HTC want to charge you.
Thanks. Already bought the battery charger. Will look into the usb self repair. Any videos on taking HD2 apart?
