Major data fix...at least it worked for me - EVO 4G General

I have had my evo for a while now, and lately I have been getting ridiculously slow 3g speeds... around 950ms pings 95kbps down and 150kbps up... and I have spent the last month or 2 trying to get it up... nothing worked, (updating profile, PRL, changing radios, disabling gps, flashing a verizon PRL, trying everything in different orders, etc)
After a while I gave up thinking It must just be the area I live in, Untill today, a budy of mine came over with his evo 3d, natrully I jumped on the chance to bench his 3g, he was getting scores arround 100ms ping 300kbps down and 250kbps up
so I looked into it some more and actually got my evo back up and beyond, I now have scores arround 100ms ping, 850-1000kbps down and 650kbps up
Heres what I never found before that fixed it for me
Go to the phone and pres ##72786# (##SCRTN#)
enter your MSL, I used msl reader from the market to get mine, but sprint gave it to me when I asked too
pres menu
pres reset
reboot by presing ok
let it run through the hands free activation
and presto...wala... boom...fast data

Sorry to tell you but this is a placebo effect. All you are doing in clearing out the slot 1 (data profile) for your username and password, this has nothing to do with speed. Is it possible that while your phone was going though its HFA that it also did a PRL update? It is also possible that you were affected by that streaming media issue from awhile ago and during the HFA the fix was pushed to your device. Many have reported, myself included, faster data speeds after applying the streaming media fix.

no I didnt clear data profile settings, not ##data#, I reset my SCRTN settings ##SCRTN#,
this affects MDN, MSID, and 2 M.IP settings

Yes while ##scrtn also clears out the mdn and msid it is essentially a ##data. I hate to tell you but that ##scrtn is just glorified ##data.

Just did this to see what would happen. I went from 0.15Mbps down and 0.3Mbps up to 1.36Mbps down and 0.52Mbps up
Edit: After two speed test it went back to crappy speeds. Back to Verizon Prl I go!

Keep in mind that, while on the Verizon data network (using the hacked PRL), Sprint will consider that as Roaming even if it does not show you as roaming on your phone.
You also have a cap on maximum data roaming Dispite having the unlimited plan. correct me if I'm wrong but I believe Its about 300mb before they start charging you for DATA Roaming.

Yea, as stated above you are just getting a placebo effect. Just like when you update PRL and Profile, your speeds may be slightly higher for a few minutes, then go back down. NOTHING can make the towers push out more data when they are overloaded, there is nothing that can be done from the phone.

They only charge data roaming on connection cards.
However sprint does take data roaming seriously. After spending 3 months in a roaming area, sprint sent me a warning letter about data roaming. During those 3 months I was not using my data like if I was in coverage.

I'm so glad I don't have to deal with big brother sprint!!
I can roam around like a wet dog on a summer afternoon..hahahhahaha
I can tether, use all the freaking data I want and NOTHING happens....Oh and best part of it all.....I get better speeds then most people on Sprint and ONLY pay 45 dollars...YES!!! Ok, go back to talking about sprint...just wanted to rub it in a bit..haha

I never got charged for going over the 300mb limit. Back in august I moved to an area that sprint signal was very weak phone always roamed. There wasn't high-speed internet so i couldnt use my airwave. I started using the prl hack. First month 7gb,September 9gb, October was around 13gb,November i used a little over 15gb(downloaded alot of roms,YouTube videos, apps, songs etc) and got a warning letter. So i stopped using it for a while.
I just moved back home up north where i didnt really need the hack. But now it feels like i do. My speeds are crawling. And the only way i can get 4G signal is if i put it by the window fml

The warning letter is just the first step. It just said that i had excessive roaming and was in violation of the terms and services and referred me to review my contract.
There are subsequent letters that get sent out if the excessive roaming continues. In the end sprint does have the right to terminate the contract and they have done this in the past. You will be warned at least once before action is taken.

The warning was letting me know that the contract states data roaming no more then 300mb/month and voice I think it said no more then 700minutes. And my account will be monitored for three months. And if I don't changing my data usage habit they have to right to take action and terminate my contract. But then why does my account say unlimited data roaming when its only 300mb? I even talked to a few customer service reps. And they said unlimited. I was doing it so I could get out of contract and switch over to Verizon plus I was getting better coverage and speeds. But I changed my mind once I found out Sprint will be getting LTE haha.

Is there any way to increase data rate in 1xRTT Areas

Hi Guys. I'm making the jump from ATT with an 8125 to Sprint with the new Mogul. I've got the phone now and it's wonderful. I live in an area that only has 1XRTT data available (Fort Scott, KS) and I was under the impression that this would provide data rates of around 50 - 70 kbs. I'm only getting around 12 to 14 kbs despite having a strong connection indicated on the phone (5 bars). I've contacted Sprint and they were helpful but didn't solve the issue. My question is: Is this about what I should expect in terms of a data rate or is there some tweak I can apply to the phone settings that would allow a faster data rate? I signed on to the SERO plan for 500 minutes and unlimited data ($30 per month, WOW...what a deal that is).
Thanks for any help you can provide. This forum has been great to me so I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Rick
Data rates that they give you are peak, and typically only burst rates. That's like saying that a 56k modem is supposed to give you 56k data but most people only DL at 8-10k. On EV-DO non A I get about 30k DL speed max, so your data rate is about right.
another important thing to realize is the diofference between bits and bytes
most ISPs (cellular included) give their speed in bits (kilobits, megabits, etc) while speedtests and software that shows your download speed will report it in bytes/kilobytes, since heres 8 bits to a byte this will seem much slower than advertised speeds
IE if you are getting 12 kilobytes per second from the phone, thats the same as 96 kilobits per second, which would be pretty good for 1xrtt
Thanks guys
Hey guys.
Thanks for the replies and for clearing this up for me. I just love this phone and Sprints coverage where I live has proven to be much better than ATT. I took the phone to an EVDO area and the internet just hums along there. I was hoping to have enough bandwidth to stream XMradio over the phone, but I suppose I'll have to keep dreamin .
Is there any way to know if Sprint is planning to improve their EVDO data coverage areas? See...I'm already being impatient.
Thanks again,
Rick
On Sprint's Business website it will tell you where different data rates are available, and if an area is EV-DO, it will let you know when they plan on delivering Rev A. Phone companies are not going to divulge when they plan on making faster service available because another carrier could beat them to it. Shame that's the way they are, but that's the way it is.
are you in a corporate area, or a sprint affiliate area? I live in iPCS land so I feel your pain.
dunno if this helps, but I'm using the "Mobile Satellite Radio" program to play XM online and it works fine, even in my very-very fringe 1X connection at work.
It *does* take a few seconds to actually buffer up, but once it does that, it seems to be fine.
I think I found a solution
I live in a Sprint covered area, but the dominant carrier here is Alltel. I heard that Sprint and Alltel share a roaming agreement, and I've noticed my phone switch to roam on occasion. On my phone settings, there is an option to force roaming and to allow data roaming. I selected both these choices and after a few moments, the phone showed that I was now roaming and the data indicator showed "EV" instead of "1X". I started internet explorer and it connected right up and worked much faster. Fast enough in fact that I could stream XM radio over the phone using the site http://www.xstreamxm.com/mobile/ and my login/password for xm. I have the SERO package with unlimited data but I thought I would check with Sprint to make sure this is allowed. I called Tech support and the guy I spoke to said it was fine to data roam.
I was wondering if anyone else has an unlimited data plan but had to pay extra for data roaming. Or if anyone knows a reason why I shouldn't do this.
Thanks again,
Rick

Any Wisconsin Sprint Evo users (mainly Brookfield etc)

Reposted on AC also, trying to get as many peoples input as possible!
Going to start of by saying this isnt a slam against Sprint. I was happy as hell to go back to them after having ATT with my iPhone. This post is to get a general feel for the speeds people are experiencing.
Sum it up as short as I can, I wanted to watch the Seahawks playoff game tonight, so I fired up the ole Slingplayer. To my disappointment, it looked like complete crap and was literally freezing up. So I decided to run a speedtest to see what kind of up/down speeds I was getting.
This is where it gets crappy. I had a friend with a DroidX on Verizon, and another friend with the Samsung Galaxy phone from AT&T next to me, and asked them to run a test also. Speeds were as follows
Verizon- 2.1mb down 950 up
AT&T- 2.3mb down 650 up
Sprint - 393kbps 655kbps up
Uh...yeah. So I ran it again,186kbps down 397 up...WTH
I know Sprint isnt exactly the best carrier and all (and yes I do still love em for the prices) but is the network THAT crappy?
Alittle info about my phone is this:
Android 2.2
2.15.00.11.19 Baseband
2.6.32.15 netarchy-toastmod 4.1.9.1 cfs
3.70.651.1 Build #

PRL 60674
I have tried to update my radios with the combo pack at first, but the radio itself stalled at Formatting Cache, so i tried to use them seperately, and once again, stalled at formatting. Everytime I try to update my radio (to actually have it run the full course), it stalls at the formatting part after the self reboot. I thought I would give it time, but 10min of sitting on that screen and nothing, I manually reboot and manually format cache thru recovery. I also updated my profiles each time I try to reinstall the radios.
Am I missing something here or doing something wrong? I know about tower signals and all, but since the area I live and work will NOT be getting 4G anytime soon (as its outside Milwaukee and 4G will not reach that far when and IF Milwaukee gets it), I would at least expect my 3G service to be better than that!
Don't feel so bad. I live in Milwaukee and...
About a year and half ago I could consistently hit 2 mbps on my Touch Pro / Diamond. Then a few months later I was down to about 1500 kbps, which was more then fine. About 6 months ago me and a friend (different plans etc) both started experiencing close to 400 kbps. On our TP2's. It has gotten much worse. I have an EvO, he has a TP2 still so it is not phone related. There are days I can't get above 47 kbps. Most of the time I seem to hover around 87-187 kbps. I have literally waited 2 minutes for webpages to load. And this has been going on for about the past 2 months. Numerous calls and troubleshooting has lead me to believe sprints network is just way to overloaded. I am about to leave Sprint and grab some t mobile and HSPDA+ love. I give till March 31st, only because someone I know claims Sprint 4G may become active here. Apparently there is already a network in place and it is a licensing issue. I doubt it is true, but that is how long I give sprint to get their network together.
Regrettably T Mobile isnt an option for me since I live out in the Falls. I have a store about a 5 min walk from me and the sales reps told me not to even bother about a year or so ago lol.
Even walking thru malls when those sales people approach me, all I say is I live in Meno Falls, and they stop the sales pitch lol
The formatting cache screen is normal, it should do that. It doesn't mean it froze. Just click reboot and you're good to go.
To the OP, your speeds are indicative of 3g (or less) speeds. Was the phone in 4g mode when you ran the test?
Sadly, sprint and verizon 4g technology is not compatible, otherwise swapping out to a verizon prl might be the trick.
Come to think of it, there was another thread here regarding using verizon's 3g even in areas where sprint does have coverage. Did you try that?
Around the oshkosh appleton area I get 300-1000 kbs down and around 700-800 up.
So wait. How can I piggyback off Verizon with a Sprint phone?? I know both are CDMA but thought theres a big difference between chipsets etc.
Oddly enough too I used to able to use my IPad sling player at work also, thought somewhat choppy at times, but it's NEVER been as bad as it's been the past week or so. I did read somewhere that people are having issues with the new radios so I wonder if that could be the culprit and if flashing to a previous radio would clear things up. Then again I think the 3.70 update requires the new radios to function properly though I could be wrong
Anyway back to crying over my non functioning sling players on iPad and Evo due to lack of any decent reliable bandwidth lol
It's not your radio. I've been running the same radio since the 3.29 update. I'm on the 3.70 build now but, the radio hasn't been updated. I used to get close to 1st meg down here in louisville but since christmas it's lucky to get 150 k.

You and me, in the same boat.
Milwaukee Area
I was recently up in the Milwaukee area over the holidays and the 3G was actually pretty solid at about 1 meg.
In KC, I am lucky to get 256 kb on any given day. Wisconsin doesn't have the 4G network yet - but honestly 4G is over rated (Great speeds if you are outside standing next to the tower and don't mind being tethered to an power outlet)
It is easy to forget that Sprint and other cell phone providers Internet access is still cell phone technology in a world of cable modems and DSL... That the speeds are comparible but there is cell phone "lag" due to the wireless transmissions. And that lag definately will be a factor in gaming and streaming video where packets have to be on time.

I think that's more of a Wi-Max issue than Sprint. LTE doesn't have that problem because they operate at a higher frequency. I believe Sprint and Clear are going to switch to LTE and that might actually be the reason for the delay in some areas. I read an article yesterday about Clear having an LTE network running in Phoenix right now with speeds touching 90 megabits. Google it.
As for my speeds in Brookfield the best I got today was 787 down and 621 up. That's been normal for me.

DOh! Forgot about that... It's right there in sprint's terms and [email protected]# So really, such use is suitable when traveling, where bulk of the data usage is in a sprint market. But where less than majority (49%?) is while roaming. Of course the 49% is my interpretation. They don't really define what majority means.

Sprint is cancelling my service

So, Sprint called me today to inform me that they are dropping my service because of excessive data roaming. They are not charging me an ETF and they are giving my 250$ deposit back. I am not upset about that, I am upset about not being able to use my Evo and the community that comes with it. I will miss the HTC XDA community if I have to go to Motorola or LG or SE.
My only choice when it comes to coverage is Verizon. The only phone that seems to be on the horizon is the Bionic that comes with LTE. I don't want the Droid X or Droid 2 because LTE is about to launch and would enjoy to have it, along with that sweet sweet dual core. Bionic seems to be the best bet, but I remember hearing something LG dropping a phone soon too.
My main question is, what Android phones are coming out this year with LTE and dual core? I don't mind being without phone service for a few months waiting.
wow, may I ask what your excessive data usage amounted to?

Of course.
It wasn't really excessive it was just that the majority of it was roaming. I only get Verizon coverage at work where I use my phone the most (when it comes to data, have WiFi at home) so I used the PRL hack to be on it all the time. I heard about them being upset about this and I was expecting at least a warning but they are straight up dropping my service.
My average data usage was 4 to 5GB on roaming with around 300-400mb on Sprint for the past 4-5 months.
Noob question...how do you know you are recieving roaming data? I have been complaining about horrible data speeds and told them i want to cancle with no fee. They said they basically base that off of calls dropped.and not data. I uae my phone minimal for calling but data is another story and it is horribly slow.
Verizon has a HTC android coming out soon, it's suppose to be a really good one. Sorry I cannot remember the name of it, but when I get a chance I will post it back in here with a link for you. Sorry to hear about Sprint. Did you use the data hack by any chance?(sorry, posted above) If so that's why I never jumped on board with that. Good luck, hopefully you'll still be here on XDA.
http://www.htc.com/us/products/thunderbolt-verizon Here you go.....HTC Thunderbolt
Doesn't the Unlimited Plan include free roaming?? Where is there verbiage about "excessive roaming"??
that sucks. Unlike some ISP's for land lines which come to agreements so each can freely use the others networks, I don't think any wireless providers do anything of the sorts. While its ****ty they didnt give you a warning, i'm sure they were probably paying up the ass to verizon.
Well, best of luck to you!
Advice: search around here and see the threads on how to use your EVO on Boost Mobile.

If you go to the Sprint website and look at your usage. There will be a roaming section in the data usage there.

Yeah the fine print. if you go read the official data usage section it states that no more than 300mb may be used per month. Hints why 4-5gb got your service dropped instantly. You just let Verizon run over sprint then reverse and run them over with that bill they had to pay.

Actually the 300MB is for data cards. There is no roaming limit. They will cancel you if the majority of your usage is roaming and towers over Sprints.
I'll keep my eye on the Bionic and the Thunderbolt. Hopefully Motorola will work with the community and not have locked bootloaders.
Correct the roaming is for minute usage not data. People get kicked for the talk not data. Data roaming booting applies to data cards as well not phones but you will be charged overages on phone data roaming.

Just occurred to me that if I want a quick exit from my Sprint contract sans ETF, maybe I should flash a VZW PRL and start hitting the 3g network hard.

That is not correct. I am being dropped for data roaming on my Evo. No charges or anything are being applied to it.
There is somewhat if a simple solution. Tell them you roam mostly at home and they will send you a free airave (you have to push to get it for free). Basically it is a small sprint tower that goes thru your local ISP. Ooonce powered up, about two hours) it works flawless.
Best of luck

If you log into your Sprint account and look under your plan details it says 500 mb of roaming data.
The EVO you wish you had
They say that there is such things that are "unlimited", but it's not really. They just set a cap so high that they believe no one will hit. Altell used to do this with their messaging plans.
It's kind of crappy that they're doing this to you, but I would avoid any Moto product unless the C-mod gets ported to it quickly. Motorola phones from what I've seen and used of them, are terrible. Moto Blur sucks, and build quality isn't bad but they have awkward builds. Decent battery life in them, and decent support for their high end devices. But that's about it.

Coverage maps are estimations which really have no basis in reality.
Easily manipulated (like a few years ago with Verizon vs At&t where the maps used were not even close to accurate).
Talking about the Sprint.com/Coverage map? Because the Voice section doesn't differentiate between roaming and not.

yeah thats what i figured when I noticed I didnt see any roaming..every little thing sprint does now gets put under the microscope
This is actually an interesting topic because over the weekend I got a call from Sprint saying I live in a 100% roaming area and if my roaming usage doesn't get under 80%, they are force closing my account and waive ETF. The agent had me pull up their coverage map and come to find out I live 25 miles outside of sprints coverage network. I've only been with them going on three months now. And the store that I started my service at in my home town is getting "reported" for sale to an "out of network coverage customer". I just left the faschist nazi regime of AT&T to be able to actually afford to have a smart phone that I can actually use without being charged for going over my data limit. Now I'm being kicked from the company that has the perfect plan for my needs and go back to AT&T and go to the 2G limit cap data plan and pay $30 more a month then I am paying now as well. Verizon would cost me $55 more a month then what I pay now and I'm in roaming for them too. I'm basically stuck with AT&T now. And they dint have a single phone I would want either.

I'm in the same boat, except I recently moved two miles outside the coverage area. They wouldn't do anything for me, including an airave. So, when at home, the old lady and I turn roaming off. We bought an Obi110 and set it up through google voice. So both our cell phone calls ring our VOIP phone, and texts come to our cells through our wifi.

What company doesn't lie? You can tell just by watching the commercials. Everyone company says their better than their competitors, that's just the way it is.
Problem is the roaming agreements. After "buying up" all the mom and pop local companies over the years and Alltel, Verizon pretty much has 100% coverage on their own, thus do not have to rely on mutually beneficial roaming agreements with Sprint. Hence starting in 2011, it equates to 69 cents a minute charged back to Sprint from Verizon for every minute I roam (bend over sprint...Thanks, your friends @ Verizon.)
Note --- this is not made up, it is information shared with me from management at Sprint after I got "the letter" to where Sprint was demanding an end to our 12 year relationship....One of which I had been very happy with (and hold no ill will towards them -- I actually think Verizon is the evil one here.)
Just 2 bad I live more than 1 mile away from the interstate and Sprint has no incentive to install towers in lesser populated areas.

txt's use the 2g radio.. you don't need 3g or a wifi or 4g to get text messages.
txts arent going to raise your data usage in roaming. I don't think text's even count towards anything roaming since its just a few bytes of data it is so insignificant.

Verizon's voice network may cover a good portion of the country but their 3g doesn't cover as much as that map they used against At&t said.
Verizon roams on Cricket, Virgin, Sprint, Boost, and Metro towers as well.

Sprint threatening letter! Not really unlimited...

Just got a letter from Sprint, telling me control my internet usage within 10 days.... Otherwise they will kick me out. Sprint MOD EDIT: WATCH YOUR LANGUAJE, don't advertise as unlimited and then send these threatening letters to your customers.

Thats why I left sprint...they crippled...errr completely removed tethering from my Palm device. I used to be able to tether via bluetooth, then one day was greeted with a message to contact CS. when i called to inquire about the loss of functionality, they told me that they now only offer that service functionality for their new top of the line devices (at the time was the Evo 4G). I told them that they need to change the name of the "Simple Everything Data" Plan, to the "Almost Everything Data" Plan. I was so angry I broke contract and canceled service right then and went to TMO. I 2nd what you say about sprint.
They only send that letter if you abuse roaming (which is outlined in your ToS) they do not send the letter if you overuse sprints network
Thanks for trying, stop trying to sound innocent and making sprint look like the bad guy
Have you ever heard of a fair use policy?
Sprints network has very little bandwidth 3G wise due to using outdated tech, so if your a heavy user on 3G it affects their other users.
This is the easiest way out of any contract download several gigs of data (while roaming) in a few days on your phone and they will gladly kill your contract for you.**
Personally I bought roam control (for CDMA only) for my phone just so I could force it to roam (in my valley sprint service sucks) so while I'm home I force it to use Verizon's network which as you might guess makes Sprint real happy
-Ice
**I suppose I should add that I do not endorse this method for getting out of your contract & trying this method may end badly (500 page long multi-thousand dollar bill) if they catch on to what your doing.
lol, you must be using a lot of data!

Fair use means that if i am sold something as unlimited i should use it in that way.
That so call fair use policy is only fair on Sprint and T-mobile not on customers which are the ones that pay the monthly fee,and the reason why those companies exist, without me and you and the other sprint is just a bunch of empty useless antennas.
Is not my fault that they use outdated tech,in fact when i bought my Epic 4G touch 2 days ago no one from Sprint told me their network was as slow as 1998 DSL connections, and that their tech was outdated and that their wimax network is nothing but fake crap that only very few people can take advantage of.
They told me the phone was great and that the network was fast, not to mention the whole 4G crap hipping.
The only problem i see here is Sprint fault not his fault,is not his fault that Sprint used outdated tech i am sure no one when he bough the phone told him,hey we have and old crappy network so don't use it to much, even that is the only one advertised as ""Truly"" Unlimited and uncapped.
pretty lame company, offer you "unlimited" then complain you are downloading too much WTF
I don't understand why 'unlimited' is supposed to be Sprint's big selling point. Their 3G speeds are pathetic in most places, and even when the coverage map shows you squarely under 4G, you probably won't get it--especially if you're inside any sort of building, or God forbid, in a car.
I personally wanted 5GB of fast, reliable bandwidth than all you can eat crap, so I left.
I worked in a Sprint store before, and even before that, I received one of these letters. As someone stated above, it only applies to roaming, which costs them a lot of money once you pass your allowed amounts. They have an agreement with Verizon and roaming (and Verizon has one with Sprint). The rules are:
- 300 MB of roaming
- More than half of your minutes used for 3 consecutive months are roaming minutes
- Most of your text messaging (although I'm not sure on this one)
Chances are, you're either using a PRL hack, Roam Control (which is now off the Market I believe), or you just live in an area with ****ty Sprint signal. If the latter is the case, just save yourself the trouble and switch to another provider.
Haven't had any problems with sprint other than hitting their bandwidth throttle. Seemed to limit my down rates to 300Kb/s at first then just cripple to a trickle after that.
Did you have a high spike in usage? Did you move into a highly populated area?
These could be why. For example; 25GB, 41GB, 33GB, 44GB; Those are my usages for the last 4 billing cycles. I transfer a lot of data over wifi, my home network, and other networks. Along with solely high quality video and audio [MOG, Rhapsody] streams. I've never received a letter or complaint.
Just got a letter from sprint saying exactly what the OP said. Not roaming but "unlimited data" usage. I'm always on 4g and I used about 109gb of data this month. They said if I don't control it they will terminate my contract. That's a lot of data I know but unlimited is unlimited!!! F them!

Even I would argue against you dude. 109GB is an insane amount. They mean unlimited to a reasonable amount. My friend goes to 60GB and doesn't get warned. You must've went crazy with your data to make them warn you.

If it does happen, just start up a prepaid number somewhere and port it out. Then port it back into Sprint. They have no say then.
just to clarify, as I work for sprint currently:
Updating your PRL does nothing, other than tell the phone which towers have lower roaming costs. (on sprint)
Verizon doesn't roam on any network. (I was a verizon manager as well) If you have a vzw phone, you won't roam at all.
If your using 109 gb's a month and complaining about sprint saying something to you, I would reccommend getting an actual home internet connection instead of using it for tethering so much.
As far as the roaming stuff, yes, if you roam a ton while with sprint, they can release you from the contract, but its not an automatic thing. A lot of times you will have to call cs a few times (because sprint CS sucks, and are a bunch of morons usually) and have them pull the account and see how much you are roaming and how many dropped calls, ect, are.

Oh, sweet. This argument again. Please read the 'unlimited' agreement you have with Sprint. Please note the conditions which apply. Please note what specific data activities you are permitted in the agreement. Note also the prohibited activities. Finally, pay close attention to the bottom of this contract where you electronically signed and acknowledged/agreed to all the conditions which they are well within their rights to enforce.
109gb of data is quite a bit. How does one's handheld use that much data in a month?

Tethering, obviously. I'm ok with tethering to a reasonable amount (ie to browse the web for a little while when there's no connection), or even to download a couple of gigs (on 4G) but 109GB is ridiculous and I side with Sprint in this case.
Verizon throttled me for using 89GB ONE time, and then throttled me at 12gb. Now I have only used 5GB on my verizon phone so they don't come down with the throttle hamer of doom. Just giving a heads up that verizon is not true unlimited.
