Hello, I have updated my u8800 too 2.3.5 from 2.2.2(138sp4) and now my wireless does not work om my netgear wndr3800 router. Before it worked but now it connects but when I try to do something that requires network it "crashes the router".
I wrote wron in the header. it should say 2.3.5
Does your phone see your router? You have to reconnect to the router including entering any protection keys after the upgrade...

My phone sees it, connects but does not send/recieve information. It says network connection not found.
Is it a new profile for your wifi or is it synced from google. I have problems with my phone every time i get a new rom and sync with google. But then i just have to delete it and it wrks

Areedw Make sure it's not an IP address conflict with anything else connected wirelesly to the router.
Can you check your mac address?

No internet when switched to WiFi
I have the same issue. No internet when WiFi is turned on with darkstone HD2Froyo, Kernel 2.6.32.9-38076 (Cotulla 25/07/2010). I can ping my HD2 from my network over WiFi.
Seems as if the default gateway on my HD2 is not set in that case.
Is there an app to check the current ip settings?
I´m also wondering about the strange mac address my dhcp server shows me
00:11:22:33:44:55
^ that is the MAC address of your HD2 on the current Android build. We all have it -> CLICK
If you are usin MAC address filtering on the WiFi router, this is your problem - edit the MAC address list
Long shot but this worked for me.
wi-fi has worked no problem on most builds but anything with sense on it just wouldn't find my network, would find networks all around me but not the one sat next right to the phone!!!
Changed the channel on my router from 13 to 11 and hey presto, picked it up straight away

Tould you that i can ping the device so this has nothing todo with mac filtering.
Any other ideas?
I'm using the Darkstone Froyo build and WiFi works a treat when you enable it, the problem with it is that when the device is not in use and you activate the screen and unlock it, 9 times out of 10 it will be using 3g instead.
If you go into Settings -> Wifi it says "turning off"... then immediately goes to connecting to my home network wifi and all is well... ok, all is well until next time the device is idle
I have my Tattoo rooted with 1.6 (can't recall the ROM name) with build number 1.67.405.6. Almost everything works fine except the connection with my home WiFi network. It's a PPPoE connection through ADSL modem. Next in line is the Netgear WG602 v3 WiFi router. At the beginning I couldn't connect at all so I changed the router's ROM to DD-WRT. Now I can connect with the router but no connection to the internet whatsoever. I can ping my router through my Tattoo, I can even open the 192.168.1.1 and mess around with its software but no connection to the internet. It is only limited to my Tattoo as I can connect through my laptop, through my other mobile (HTC S710) and also I can connect my Tattoo with any other WiFi (Secured or Open) with no problems at all.
I tried with no Security, with WEP, with WPA-PSK to no avail. Any other clues?
try running htc mail while you are using your wifi throuf your tattoo it worked for me
What is supposed to happen if I do that? I'm trying it as soon as I get home btw.
Nothing happened
Hi all...sorry for my interference but this problem is similar to mine.
I'm going mad from many weeks trying connect my Huawei Ideos (U8150) to my home wlan through a netgear VG602v3 AP. No way to do this.
Wifi works from my laptop and from my girlfriend's laptop, but from ideos it doesn't.
I turned off all wireless device in my house, I tried with/without WPA, I tried open network from channel #1 to channel #13, tried changing ssid and I also tried praying .
There is a weak wifi near here: it is on channel #1 and its power is between -89 and -82db. My wifi power (data from kismet) is between -50 and -18 db and is configured on channel #11.
In any cases, even if I put my Ideos near to AP antenna the story is ever the same:
- Ideos indentify the wifi network
- Ideos acquire the IP
- I open the browser or the android market and...
- Ideos lose connection...and so on.
I downloaded from work wifi (crypted with WPA) a wifi scanner from app store: it shows me the neighbour's weak wifi and my wifi network which appear and disappear recurrently.
Please, someone helps me (without suggest to buy another AP!!), any suggestions are welcome!!
Have you tried logging into the router and checking the privileges for devices. Some of them have a security element that restricts the use of the internet on newly connected devices until the setting is changed. I had a similar problem with a new laptop.
hope it helps.
I checked every setting to no avail. I still think somehow that my problem is with my router or adsl modem which doesn't connect automatically with PPPoE and Android doesn't have any command or software to initiate a PPPoE connection.
Other than that... Can't find any solution. Until then, I use connectify on my Win7 laptop. The thing is that I have to keep my laptop switched on as long as I'm in the house.

thank you for suggestion. I looked in depth but I did not found the option of which you were talking about. The unique solution still remains change the AP!!!
WiFi and Netgear Router
I think I finally found the answer. It appears Netgear routers support something called WiFi Multimedia. Its a QOS methodology. I disabled WiFi MM or WIMM as its sometimes called, as well as Internet QOS and all my problems connecting to web pages, the market, etc. through WiFi disappeared.
Strange that older versions of the ROM supported WIMM (or ignored it) and newer ones don't. But that solved the problem for me with no real degradation of performance on any of my other computers.
Good luck.
As stated, when my phone (HTC One S) is connected to my WiFi network, I can't connect with my tablet (A500, Thor ICS v170). It just keeps trying to obtain IP address and never connects.
Weird thing is, if I turn both devices off, connect my tablet to the wifi first and then connect my phone it will work. This only happens when my phone is connected first.
Is this a software issue? Is it something to do with my router and maybe a lease or some network thing? Please help..this is very annoying.

Did you check your router settings? It sounds like your DHCP is not set Automatic. Which router do you use? Making sure that you don't use static IP addresses.
Looks to me like you have a static IP configured for your a500, which conflicts with your HTC. Check settings on a500.

If he had static IP set in tablet it wouldn't try to obtain the address at all. It would just connect to the Wifi skipping that part.
@tgtoys:
I think that this can be a router incompatibility problem. Unfortunatelly not every wifi equipment is built with 100% conformance to the standards. Sometimes two devices just don't want to work with each other (and, for example, they both claim that are 802.11g compatible).
If you have a possibility then try with another router.
Other cause can be a router software misconfiguration. Router factory reset would probably help in this case but you would need to reconfigure your WAN and wifi settings. But this won't eliminate the problem if it is the hardware incompatibility.

Another problem I could think of is you have your phone's hotspot setting turned on that's why your tablet couldn't connect when there are two different Wi-Fi, that's just my guess.
Thanks all.
I am not currently using static ip on either device, and this seems to happen whenever I try to connect to Wi-Fi (home, work, and friends house), which is why I'm so confused. I will check settings on router when I get back. I haven't changed anything on the router other than add a wpa2 password...

The issue I experienced was the following.
I entered a WPA Password that had a large number of characters. Although the router accepted the number of characters, once I wanted to connect more than one or two devices I experienced the same problem as you.
I did get a WiFi connection but did not receive an IP and the connection was dropped.
After reducing the number of characters (but increasing the complexity) it worked fine.
Btw. it was a Netgear router.
I resolved the issue at work by assigning my phone and tablet with different static IP addresses on the router. How will this effect connecting to other routers?

When you say "other routers" you mean at your home? Or at other places like public wifi? If at your home, you can assign static IP addresses but not at public wifi because you can't control the router settings.
Hallo,
I have upgraded my phone to 2.3.5 B521, the one that Huawei has in their site.
The step was: Upgrade to B512 (Problem with WiFi), update to B521 just in case the problem was solved. But, the problem is still there. I get IP from the Router, but I have no connection to the internet!
Please help me.
Does your phone have a mac address or is it nulled?

Yeah check your MAC adress and your IMEI
Probably your MAC adress become to 0 after the update

I do not have the 2.3.5 installed now, but I if MAC is nulled, how on earth did it get an IP?
Please HELP!
IMEI and MAC are OK and those written at the back of the phone.
When I setup a static IP, everything was OK, I can say that it was FASTER than previously :good: .
So, the problem is DHCP related.
I can confirm now that the problem is somehow related to the the DHCP and the Gateway. Specifically, I have set my router to give as GW itself (10.0.0.1).
BUT, the Gateway I see from the Disp WiFi IP is 0.0.0.0. Any ideas? Is there any log that I can check?
Also, from the router, it is obvious that the phone is NOT connected. The phone is recognized as a such, but it is connected only when I use the static IP.
Important UPDATE
I tried to connect the phone on another router. And it's OK with that router...
The only problem is that I cannot purchase a new router in my home.
So, I need to find out what I can do with my ADSL router (Alcatel Onetouch 585 v6).
Hello. Today my dad bought this old Alcatel One Touch 985 phone using Android 2.3.6 (maybe there is an update but I can't get it cuz there is no god damned internet) and I have been trying for 3 hours now to connect this thing to the internet. I am using Connectify Pro which is a Wi-Fi hotspot software since my router is broken. Everything works fine and dandy with my Nexus 7 but the Alcatel doesn't want to connect. It starts with "Obtaining IP" -> "Authenticating" -> "Disconnected" and then repeats. I am using a WPA2 authentication. I hope you guys can help me fix this problem, thanks in advance!
Hi
Have you tried connecting with an open connection?
Have you tried re-entering the SSID (if the router isn't broadcasting the SSID) and password? Also, I've seen it before where the first time I enter the password it doesn't connect for whatever reason, even if I re-enter the password itself (and verify I'm entering it correctly). Then forgetting the connection and re-connecting works. It's pretty annoying.
Hi there,
Have you tried using a static ip address? change the settings on your device and use static ip instead of dhcp. thanks.
I was having this issue and found that it was the routers fault. I turned off the router by unplugging it for 30seconds then plugging it back in.
