Hi once again,
I am in Singapore and have XLA1. There's no support for Hindi in that. Is there any way to get it on stock rom? I tried fontoptimizer, but it doesn't work as the download link for the font file leads to 404 error.
Appreciate suggestions!!

Actually without DND also it sends messages from 9 am to 9 pm only to Indian subscribers but for the rest of the world it send them anytime.A good app but not 100% reliable in delivering the message.

Oh and I'm also really curious to see if anyone has tried logmein to remote access their computers. I do it on my Eris but it's slow. I've seen it on the iPad and it's much better. How is it on the GTab?

Pricing isn't announced yet in most of the world.
For every other piece of infromation, why not just, eh, check the official website? I mean, have you even looked at Samsung's website? It lists all the specs for the device and few other details.
tl;dr: Price - dunno, not announced
"with Google" -experience - yes, if you mean GMail, Market and stuff.
Full Marketplace - Yes, it's a full phone and has all the capabilities as such, even market.
ps. Aside from the larger (and different) display, the Tab is essentially a Galaxy S.
Perfect thanks.

sorry but just to clarify this is a full phone but in tablet format?
so the inbuilt cell is capable of making GSM calls the same as say an iphone, NOT just able to use 3g connectivity for web as say a iPad?
wonder why the camera spec is so lame?

YES.
I'm sorry if I YET AGAIN sound angry or frustrated, it's not specifically you.
But don't you people ever think of yourselves and either read the official site or google around before asking questions? Yes, it's a full GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS phone. The official site lists all the bands the phone works on. (except I hear the USA version lacks the phone capabilities? but retains data/sms? I don't know.)

yes.... i hae got it on saturday and i have made GSM calls also...
GSM calls and 3g video calls are extra features compared to ipad which will need a seperate micro sim and 3g contract and pay extra
when at home i use wifi for the tab and while on long journeys , put my existing contract sim and use it and will not miss calls too , the display is just awesome and so smooth........
i dont need to take seperate contract for stupid things

As of right now they make no note of voice calling on american advertising ... It will be in the hardware but not in the firmware (rom) but im sure If we got a copy of your guys roms (all other countries besides US..lol) we will have the voice feature.

I'm not really clued up on all this but wouldn't this be tied in with the hardware? And since the Tab has been announced in the states not having voice(and possibly sms) capabilities wouldn't that mean it was missing the hardware to do it?
If that isn't the case then it's awesome for the people in the states to potentially have that option
Well, I just learned that the US wifi images are A LOT different from Canada's. I actually crippled my Xoom temporarily because the US system.img files don't like the Canadian userdata partitions. Well, that is until the userdata partition is wiped.
I'm not going to say much. I'll let the pictures do the talking...

Companies do a lot of localization stuff. I also noticed (but couldn't capture) the setup screen for the US version only had English, French and Spanish, while the Canadian one seemed more international. It had a bunch of European languages, Korean, Chinese and maybe even Japanese.
Part of the reason they probably didn't give us this one was because we're not supposed to get Google Books up here or something.
Here are some screenshots of the language list options on the Canadian Xoom's.
You just beat me to that. I rotated them in landscape so I only needed 3 pics. I might as well post mine as well.
@Scourge1024,
Do you recall any differences when turning these on for the first time? For example, having to accept "Motoblur Terms and Conditions" on one but not the other. Your apps screenshot of the the Canadian version has a "Motoblur Services" app, but the US one doesn't.
This post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=12944248&postcount=336 seems to show Motoblur services running on a UK version. Can you verify whether or not your US version has Motoblur services on it?
I have a Canadian version as well, but am looking for one without the Motoblur stuff on it.
XR.
I'm pretty sure I had to accept some Motorola terms and conditions every time I did wipe on my XOOM. At the very end of the initial setup. I can't take a snapshot of that as adb won't connect till after.
I wonder if the Canadian version is like the UK one?
I also ripped the stock apk files from both US and Canadian versions.

Are you sure? My name is Howard. Lol. Not the coolest name out there.
But I might be able to save you some trouble. I couldn't install it. I pushed "BooksTablet.apk" and "BooksTablet.odex" into my /system/app folder and I don't see it on my Xoom at all (after a reboot of course).

You seem to be right - it looks like they've done something to prevent these apps from working with the Canadian image. Sucks! Kindle doesn't have a nice widget and page turning animations like GB does.
I have been wondering why our neighbors to the north are not allowed Google books? Has anything been said officially?
If I had to guess I would say differences in copyright laws.
It'd be nice to have a hybrid of the two. With all the languages in the Canadian version and all the apps from the US one.
I really wish you could import epub files into the kindle app... looks nice and clean. The most stable reader after that seems to be Moon+
the canada screens look like how the UK wifi version was.
three booksmarks - very few apps installed
but without the dodgy wallpaper
Ya kinda sucks that the Canadian version doesn't the US version of google books. I've been trying for 2 days to find it until i found this thread that made me understand that it's impossible.
Hey guys,
The advantage of the canadian version is the languages. i have bought the US version and cannot get the German language and localization running.
Other than google books any reasons not to flash the canadian version on a us hardware? Or do you see any other chance to localize it?
Thanks hdtvpower

I was also one of the naive people ordering a US Amazon Fire TV a while ago to try it out in Germany I never managed to get it working, even after using Unlocator and fiddling around with settings of my Amazon account. So, since then, it's basically sitting in my living room doing nothing.
I'm thus also interested in converting a US Fire TV to a German Fire TV.
Will the German Fire TV be running a different firmware than the US version? If yes, will it be possible to manually flash a German firmware onto a US device? It's not rooted or anything...
Like some others have mentioned, This will be interesting.
Got my FTV from the USA, Wondering if I will be able to "convert" it to a UK model so I can get the native service / apps.
I would go ahead and order one from the UK while it is on offer but cant afford to loose root
seems that in UK have same offer, but £49...
Not in Spain, France or Italy yet...
Got One Hope this will become a nice XBMC Box to replace my RasPi in my Bedroom, which is quite on its limit with my installed AddOns + TVHeadend.
Ok, So I decided to send them an email regarding the "region change" of the existing USA Fire TV's,
I asked for my message to be forwarded onto the relevant team involved with the Fire TV for a more appropriate response,
Take of this what you will but they have told me that it will be possible, First you will need to migrate your account, Any purchases made will also transfer, Then once the device has launched in your country, in this case the UK you then need to look out for a firmware update.
They say they will put it up on their help pages.
So that's good news, Sad that it will be a firmware update but not unexpected, Guess I will wait till the time comes and consider my options. At this stage I could not give up my root

Hiya,
So I bought one on eBay and I THINK it's real - but I want to be sure. Is there any easy way of telling? The main reason's I'm worried are the few things that irked me slightly - 1: it's apparently from 'Singtel', and had a 'My Singtel' bloatware app - which is annoying either way. 2: The Google search bar seems to have a slightly different font - but that could be because it's an international version or something? There's also a spelling mistake in the 'battery info' pane on the settings - but again, I'm wondering if this is just because of where the phone's from. EIther way, that's very annoying, now that I've seen it - do you think Samsung would release a patch or is this Singtel version going to rely on Singtel to send updates (ie, I won't get them from Samsung OTA until Singtel have 'cleared' them?).
FYI I can compare it to my definitely real (well, should be!) O2 store bought S6.
Samsung doesn't mis-print. It's a fake.

Download cpu-z app from Play Store and take a look at your hardware info, run Geekbench or Antutu, Geekbench should be around 5000, and Antutu around 60000, plus both apps will show your hardware info.

CPU-Z is saying its a 'Samsung Exynos processor' Octa, 7420. 2.10 Ghz
Phone Info says the Model is SM-G928I, device type zenlte, made in Vietnam
Geekbench 3 gives it Multi core of 5225
Antutu gives it 69145
So it seems legit... that spelling mistake in settings is odd though???
As long as it's legit I plan on flashing a rom asap anyway, so I guess it's 'nationality' doesn't matter at that point, right?
When I contacted the seller the response was this:
'Usually for new release products we will take from around the world the ensure we have enough quantity to satisfy demand, and for our customers to get the latest products. therefore in this case some were collected from Singapore hence the singtel. for this we believe the matter is small because now a day most devices comes with 32gb or above, therefore even the network provider provides some preinstalled apps our customers will still have many space to play with. moreover a mobile requires network operators so there is some such apps anyway
with the box being opened, it is culture we found best to do, especially for newly released items, you will never know if the manufacturer have accidentally manufactured a faulty product to come the release date, so we open the box to ensure basic functions, calls, network connections etc are functional before giving it to you to avoid returns because the manufacturer produced a faulty product
lastly the information spell error, we really did not know. However upon your question, we checked our stock, samsung and googled, we found that it is a common problem amongst the first batch of release. Samsung Singapore informed us that they realised this silly issue and will correct this upon the next firmware update. '
-so does this mean (without flashing) I'm dependant on Samsung Singapore, even though I'm in the UK? Would that slow down updates/ cause me issues do you think?
Thanks

You can always flash some other stock firmware with Odin, your phone supports all stock firmwares from all mobile operators from Singapore, Australia and New Zealand, so pick one, they can't all have that spelling error.

Thanks for the response! Just a question (or three :S)
Does flashing official firmware in this way trip knox?
How do you know which regions firmware my phone supports?
Will it inhibit me at all that it's not a European model?
And if I flash an Australian one, for example, will it cause me signal worries or anything? Thanks

No, flashing firmware with Odin will not trip Knox.
I know because "I" model is for those regions, Australia, Singapore and New Zealand,
Here you can find all firmwares supported by your model:
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G928I/
I presume that you don't have any signal problems with Singaporean firmware, so i don't think you'll have any problems with any other firmware from that region, since they all are using the same modem.

Thanks so much! Last question (promise!) Is there firmware/ region of firmware choice likely to make a difference to when updates are rolled out?

Yeah, sure, but you can't know which one of them will push update first, and it doesn't really matter, because when the new update is out you can also download it from Sammobile and flash it with Odin, like most people often do. Till recently i had Galaxy S5, 900F model, and when last year Samsung pushed 5.0 update, Poland was the first European country to get it, so i just downloaded Polish 5.0 firmware and flashed it with Odin.
I bought my edge+ whilst travelling through Singapore last week. I also have the spelling mistake and bought the phone directly from a Samsung store.

Clearly they do - did you see the amount of tests I did on the first page of this thread? If it IS a fake Samsung, then it's the best fake ever. Same camera spec (I grabbed photo exif data), same antutu and geekbench scores, very good build quality etc.

I had an update on my device yesterday eve that fixed it, which makes me a LOT happier. Again, if it IS a fake, then who are rolling out OTA updates?
As you all know, I have been on the Samsung Pay Beta for some time now. I have been posting my feedback here and on my channel and contacted Samsung Directly. This updates included feedback that I provided and now see implemented in Samsung Pay. How cool is that. Check out the video. Now you can see the virtual card # during checkout!

There was an earlier update about ten days ago. There was no notification, you had to get it through settings. There's been no change between that update and today's that I can see. One thing the earlier update added is that now you can't use the app without accepting a pending update which I found out about when the notification came just as I was about to pay for something. I wasn't amused.
Did your first update include the digital card number as mine? Or did the second?

It was in the first update.
This update didn't change anything visually.
You can now open the app with the screen off. Just swipe up from the fingerprint sensor and the app will open. Then you verify with your fingerprint again.
Very Cool. I tried that as well. I wonder if the update was carrier specific? I use Samsung Pay literally every day multiple times a day. Today was the first time i got the notice. I am on ATT

That was in the earlier update too and yes it's both cool and practical.

Hi guys, I am a new Note 5 user. My Note 5 is SM-N9208. I was told that Samsung Pay comes by default in Note 5 and S6 Edge+. But I cant find Samsung Pay in my device, even if I try to swipe the fingerprint sensor upwards.
Is Samsung Pay only available to Korean regions only or must register as beta user ? Isn't it available by default in all Note 5 variant ?
Please advice me

I'm on 1.3.2116 and I got the update from T-Mobile already. Been using Samsung Pay since the beta started so I hope I don't have to find another card to add.

You are on the latest version. Some people are not seeing the offer in announcements. some people have uninstalled the app and went through the set up process all over again and received the offer that way. Someone on T-mobile said they got the offer 30 minutes later they updated T-mobile OTA already and was apart of the Samsung Pay Beta. If I were you I'd either try to uninstall and reinstall or just wait to see if it shows up if not You could try to add another card and delete it. The wireless chargers are on back order for now.
