So! I called up HTC about my phone and how it's been turning off and the 3 vibrates and blinking LED. The guy told me I can send it back, but if they find anything out of warranty, I will be charged. I'm running CM7, and will be charged if they find it. However, since my phone can't be turned off, I can't boot into the bootloader to flash the PD15IMG for froyo. So I need your help to brick this phone so they can't see that I'm running CM7, but keep it under warranty!
Thanks!

Um. It can be turned off. Take the battery out.
and you don't need power buttons to boot into boot loader Esp if you are running CM7.
from your adb input either CMD on the computer or Terminal Emulator via the android market.
Code:
adb reboot bootloader

They told me to take the battery out, but they said if they find any unrecognized software on it I'll be charged, so I'm assuming they'll be attempting to get into the phone lol.

So why not use ADB to restore the part7***** backup, then boot into bootloader via adb and flash the PD15IMG?

i can tell you, you will have to reboot the phone with ADB. It won't go into an "off" state. but it will be rebooted a few times via the process.

Step 1) go to local hunting/sports store
Step 2) buy stun gun
Step 3) take off back cover of phone. Turn on stun gun. Run it along phone
Step 4) you're done
I've also read hooking up positive and negative leads to a car battery does the trick, although I wouldn't suggest that..

I bricked my first mt4g almost a year ago.
I was rooted via gfree but never did the eng-hboot, so I decided to return to stock cause I thought something was wrong with my phone and that restoring can't be any harder than apple devices...boy was i wrong. I flashed the stock img in hboot and it was game over. T-mo sent me a replacement though cause they couldn't figure out what was wrong with it, it said i had s-on and everything [^_^[]

Hello,
My wife's rooted MT4G touch screen is not responding to touch anymore nor is the trackpad working. I don't know what happen but I'm going to try to get a warranty replacement, but I need to unroot and turn s on before I send it in. My question how can I do this if the screen and trackpad are not working? Is it possible through sdk and if so, anyone can provide me instructions ? Thanks on advanced.

If you got s-off, i don't think unrooting it will undo that. there are specific guides to turn s back ON but i doubt you would be needing that.
Good luck though.

that is pd15img, the link shared by theunlockr so pretty good source. It will revert all parts of your system back to stock, so it should be s-on after.
This isn't meant to fix the screen, and the touchscreen isn't required to use pd15img. It is only for extra protection against getting your warranty rejected even though it's a hardware issue.

Hello,
Thank you, I was able to get the phone to see pd15img and is started doing it's thing, and I went to reboot it. Now I get hboot screen that kind of looks like this:
GLAVIER PVT SHIP S-OFF
HBOOT-0-86.0000
MICROP-0429
RADIO-25.03.02.26_M
eMMC-boot
Sep 27, 2010, 11:12:59
[FASTBOOT] <--- Shaded red with white letters.
<VOL UP> to previous item
<VOL DOWN> to next item
<POWER> to select item
[BOOTLOADER] <--- Shaded blue with white letters.
REBOOT
REBOOT BOOTLOADER
POWER DOWN
I tried all the buttons and it is like they are not responsive, I know for fact the volume buttons work because I had to use them to select for the .zip file. I also uses the key tester in clockwork recovery to check and see if my keys were working or not. I have tried pulling the battery out, so I am not sure if I missed a step??
Thanks,
Kei

EDITED:
It seems I forked up. I didn't realize it but it is my own fault for being in a hurry. I did use the gfree method on my phone by moving the gfree files to where the guide told me and then used a terminal emulator to execute gfree. Since I already flash PD15img.zip, and I am screwed or is there something I can possibly do so that I can properly unroot by undoing gfree? If I got to learn to use adb, I will! I appreciate your help in advance!
well with that I assume you did gfree to root. I may be wrong but I think you need to use to touchscreen to revert that completely. Just try to get a replacement with the current setup.

The only thing I can think of is, buy an sdcard reader if your pc doesn't already have one intergrated. Take out your sdcard, put it in the card reader, plug it to your pc and format the sdcard. Redownload the pd15 zip via pc and copy it to the sdcard.
Insert back your sdcard. Boot into hboot and let it do its thing. When its done press vol up for yes to update and when that's done power to reboot. If it reboots fine then you're good to go.
If that still sends you to hboot after reboot, the last thing I can think off to do is just remove your sdcard and boot into hboot. That way the phone won't read anything and let you choose and boot into the stock recovery(it should be blue lettering) from recovery just wipe data factory reset and reboot again see what happens then.
I have been trying to get my friends MYTOUCH 4G back to stock in order to replace it with WARRANTY. The POWER button is NOT working, so I am having a heck of a time with this. I also did the Gfree unroot method but it's rebooting into Fastboot and since the POWER button is broken, I am unable to select anything in order to get it to HBoot (as instructed with the Gfree unroot method) I need to reboot into HBoot in order for it to read the PG15IMG zip. Using ADB, what is the COMMAND prompt to get it to the HBOOT (not FASTBOOT), as "ADB reboot bootloader" is rebooting into FASTBOOT?
And if this is NOT possible, I would further ask how would one flash a rom using ADB commands?
Sent from my SGH-T839 using XDA Premium App
to go to hboot, you have to click the bootloader button, but i am not sure how you would be able to do that since your power button is broken. my best suggestion is to try messing with the power button while highlighting bootloader.

Non-existent things? You mean to tell me there is NO WAY to get into Hboot using adb commands? That doesn't sound correct to me.
If that is not possible, how can I flash the PG15IMG.zip using the ADB commands? There has got to be a way to flash a rom if the Power button doesn't work. You can do EVERYTHING with ADB, I can't imagine not being able to do this too.

might actually work. You need to be in what most would consider fastboot. And that program looks to have "reboot into fastboot". but i'm not sure if it's actually going to, or just wording.
Otherwise just ask around on how to brick the phone, may be a simple adb command or a few battery pulls while doing something in recovery

The phone appears to be pretty new. I think the [OP] is wanting to exchange the phone under warranty due to a malfunctioning button rather than pay 130$ for a warranty claim.
This is how you do everything, without a power button.
Recovery
Code:
adb reboot recovery
bootloader
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot
hold down the back button and boot your phone. A reboot will work, just have perfect timing when you hit and hold the back button.
Power on phone
Clockwork recovery has a bug that automatically boots to recovery. The latest update still has the bug, but the screen stays off. do this
Code:
> adb devices
List of attatched devices
(serial number) recovery
adb shell reboot
There, all the magic you need.

After reading your posts I understand a lil bit better. Your kind of screwed but one option you can do is a bunch of pages back you will find a completely stock rom that is flashable throught recovery. It still has root and obviously wont give you s-on. However, atleast its stock so they don't notice it as easily if they turn the device on.
Also I returned 1 phone that was still rooted with a custom rom and didn't get charged. I also have heard of other members doing the same so don't worry to much

you cannot flash the PD15IMG.zip via recovery. It can only be done via hBoot.
IIRC there is a ROM that someone pulled of a stock [no one logged into] MyTouch4G so everything will look the same.

Lolololololol okay okay wait! My phone is able to turn on! And when it turns on it stays at the MyTouch 4G screen for like 5 minutes until it boots into Clockworkmod Recovery! Once they see that they are probably going to see that my phone is rooted and just been bricked. Are they going to count that as broken? Will they cut me a break? LOL
What are the odds theey actually sit there for 5 minutes to check?
