Ordered Mine, and will hope any DEV here RIP the TouchWiz - Galaxy Tab 7.7 General

Hey Guys, How are you doing? I have just ordered mine and may be delivered in couple of days. I am replacing my GT 10.1 with this new beauty. Hope, we see lot of development for 7.7. Because, it catches the attention of the consumer so easily with its super-thin metallic body, corning gorilla glass and first Super AMOLOED+ on a tablet.
I hate Touch-wiz a lot, I thought 100 times before proceeding with the order because of only TW, also had option of Transformer prime. But I did not like its big bezel to screen ratio. I gave my final go on 7.7 hoping for its Development. I just wanted to remove all the TW and replace it with ICS or CM9 or whatever stock food available... That is all for now Guys, see you around....

Beware of slippery 10.1's!

I was reading a book on my spiffy new 10.1 and it slipped off my lap... 20" or so on to the tile floor. Just enough to flip it on its screen. BTW, the tile won
Now to wait until they ship the tab officially, and hopefully a replacement screen is available.
Totally bummed out.
20" is noting. even regular sodalime glass should be able to survive that. that is very disappointing to hear!.
Doesnt look like gorilla glass to me!
Whenever I see Gorilla glass strength demonstrated, it is always using impacts on the front of it. Not on the edges. This tablet looks like it landed on it's edge where the glass is weakest.
Also, Samsung advertises "Easy Grip" as a feature of the tablet. I'm hoping that is just something the Galaxy Tab IO Edition is missing, because it sounds like people that have that tablet have grip problems.
FWIW.. you can probably replace the front glass only (from what it looks like). As far as I recall.. the front glass/touch panel is not bonded to the LCD.
The slipperiness gets a mention here too. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2385353,00.asp
I've had the 10.1 since I/O and have had no "slippery" problems. Don't know how you guys are holding it, or not paying attention when you have a 10.1 inch tablet that's worth over $600~ in your lap or hands, but I'm a little bit more attentive.

Way to kick a guy when he's down....and just lost his irreplaceable tablet. Have a heart man.
ouch.. that sucks, dude. I feel for you. I sure hope you can repair it.
Damn, after the video on youtube of the Russian guy beating the hell out of the tablet, You'd think it would survive a 20" fall.
Maybe if you email Samsung, they may take pity on you. Besides, it would be good for their image.

glass smoothness: Asus vs. iPad, Samsung, Xoom

I was at best buy and brought along my Transformer to compare it to all the other Tablets they have on display. All of the other tablets have really smooth screens compared to the Asus. The demo units have been sitting there for a while so lots of people have had their grubby fingers on it, they all still remain pretty smooth.
I know about the rain-x trick, but it seems like you have to reapply. The factory coating for the other tablets seem to work really really well. Wish Asus had coated their glass too...I would've pay a few bucks for that.

yeah the 10.1 screen is much smoothier then the TF. Also less fingerprints on the screen compare to the TF.

Cracked screen

So I cracked my screen juggling to many things in my hands(phone energy drink, keys, ecig etc) tablet slipped right out of my hand. Funny thing is I am not even upset. I am usually OCD about cracks, I have $500 balance on this via T-Mobile EIP, got rid of jump so I am essentially screwed. Touch screen is fully working so it's still usable. I wonder how much Samsung will charge me to send it in for repair. May just sell it and make put it towards EIP plus make big payments. Idk. It really sucks but what can you do. Glass breaks, Samsung build quality sucks and so much more important things in life to worry about. Maybe this is a sign I should get the nexus 9. After all HTC is known for build quality and even though it's not likely going to be aluminum due to Nexus wireless charging I have a sneaking suspicion it will be miles ahead of anything Samsung produce anytime soon.
Anyone else rocking a cracked screen or repaired it either yourself or by Samsung/3rd party repair shop?
@md1008 feel for you mate and everyone else that this happens too.
There is a dissasembly thread few pages down in the "Help and Troubleshooting section".
From what I have gathered is that it will cost about $200 for Samsung to fix but its impossible to do yourself....here is a comment from shart from that exact thread kinda explains it well tbh....

So I have a p600 (Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Ed) and I dropped it on the corner. shattered the digitizer. I bought a new Digitizer and in the process of repairing it learned the hard way that it is next to impossible to separate the Digitizer from the LCD. Bottom line is that I now need a replacement LCD for my tablet now also. FYI, there is a Gummy adhesive, much like industrial rubber glue between the digitizer and the LCD and the surface adhesion is too great to separate the two without damaging the LCD, try as you might it's next to impossible.
For the Sake of science I have just busted my tablet. I blame nobody but myself in this mess, but let it be a lesson learned for everyone else after me.

Yeah I am too clumsy for self repair. Samsung quoted me 260 I believe. Really think I will wait to see what Nexus 9 brings to the table and price range. I wish Samsung would release a successor to the note 8.0 so far I have not read anything. Seems Samsung is mostly focused on their "tab" series

Yep, the screen is the most expensive in tablet or cell phone. Currently Ebay is selling $200 for the screen assembly, $140 for Hong Kong made and you have to do it yourself. The price for the note 10.1 2014 is dropping fast so it's not worth to repair. Save your money for the Nexus 9 would be the right choice....

Not worth paying 260 ... thats crazy. I'd jist keep using it as its only on the corner and see what your options are with the newer tablets and then either try give it a go yasel or just sell it on ebay or do what my brother did with his cracked Blackberry Tablet ... he put on a screen protector on (mind you there was no glass or sharp bits anyway) and gave it to his 3 year old kid to play games with haha.
I will probably put a screen protector the cracks spread through the whole screen. The thing that sucks is that it's the spen why I bought this bloody screen and using spen on cracked screen is not ideal. Otherwise I would never buy Samsung. I hate touchwiz(unless on note) and I hate even more how cheap Samsung products feel(they got better and the note 4 did have some praise in early review)
Personally I think on the original note they gave it a more premium build with crappy specs where as on this bad boy they cut cost and gave it the best specs(at that time) the og Note 10.1 I feel had an all round better build to it
http://m.yelp.com/biz/lord-of-the-phones-san-diego-9
These guys quoted me at $190 and have excellent yelp reviews. I think I may go with it.
Try putting a glass screen protector on it.

Well if you tried a DIY job then I think if you buy a digitizer it will cost you about $50 and then probs $30 for delivery. So about $100 for labour isnt bad considering its a bigger job than I initally thought tbh.
Reading more and more it does seem like Samsung have made it impossible for an average joe to fix. And then atleast you have a tablet back.
I guess only you really know if its worth the cost for you or not. If I were you I'd wait and see what stuff is coming up and then put the $190 towards a newer tablet.
Anyhoo hope it works out whatever you do mate.
Yeah kinda what I am thinking, what sucks is I have a $500 left on this. I think I may go with it. I don't care about tablet specs as much as phones. I would have kept the original note 10.1 if it the software didn't such so bad. I figure if something did come around that is better I would get more money back if the screen is not cracked. Making the $200 lost almost a wash. I know no matter what I am getting an Otterbox. I know you drop tablets they break but I believe if was more durable the damage would be far less
Yeah cases do provide some protection for falls not sure how much protection my Official BookCover provides. What case did you have on it ... Can't tell what type of case it is from the picture you uploaded.
Its a generic case from eBay. I actually hated it, somehow when it was in the case I often couldn't use external buttons like power, home, or the menu/back. Pie solved the problem.
Looked on eBay and it doesn't look like a cracked note would get me much money so repair it is!
Put a screen protector on and although it's more usable smooth glass surface it actually looks worst. The glass shards and uneveness causes bubbles worst is that I had to keep reapplying the screen protector because of stupid glass shards causing dust and dirt make it's way inside
Oooooh I didnt realise that the cracks went along the entire screen, having the screen protector on really showed the extent of the damage blimey its bad. Yeah thats in no usable condition tbh I genuinly thought it was just the top right hand side that was damaged, aye a guess $190 to have your tablet back isnt too bad.

Well today I bought an otterbox until I can afford $ to get it repaired. Comes with a screen protector which illuminates air bubbles plus I feel like if it drops it won't crack even more or at least will crack less. When the screen is lit up either with color or black its not noticeable, but when the screen is white it's an absolute eye sore. Does add significant weight. Add bulk but nothing unreasonable.
Here is white background, even worst browsing internet
As you see with dark colors the cracks blend right in
Also Walmart online(and only online they won't match prices) has this on sale for less than $45 with tax.

It's not an impossible or an expensive repair, really. Just takes a bit of patience to get it apart and back together, so as not to cause more damage than ya started with!

YT-X703F Lenovo yoga tab 3 plus screen protector and case?? Where or how to search

Hey, i am about to buy myself this tablet, the lenovo yoga tab 3 plus LTE
and while i wait for it to arrive i wanna buy screen protector and cases from ebay, but if i spesific search for YT-X703F there is almost no options so are there any screen differense or layout in lenovo yoga pro and so on?
This will be my first lenovo so i dont know the differrence if anyone is different but is someone could help me out by say the search term i need to use to get the proper glass protector and case i will be very happy..
Im sure there are common search terms for this as well, but as told i am not very familiar With lenovo.
Also, im getting this as a replacement for my Nvidia Shield, im not mush of a gamer but im a total media whore and i like to watch Things in 4K and i also fly some drones that film in 4K so this will be why i spesific og for this tablet of course also since its Budget friendly when compared to other brands..
many thanks!
I just searched Yoga Tab 3 Plus on eBay and other sites and it comes up with plenty of results. I ordered a tempered glass protector and a rubber case. There seems to be two types of cases, the standard book style with a cutout on the back for the kickstand, and a non-flip rubber style case.
I bought some different cases but im not comfortable with any due to the metal stand makes all cases unuseful and flimsy. Just had a leather pouch i stick it in when I'm done.
The screen protector i bought that was made from glass. Very good.
Which cases did you get? Can you take some pics or links to the ones you got?
That might help some of us know which cases to avoid
Thank you
Just avoid them all. Buy a pouch or something. Due to the metal flip all cases will feel flimsy with that extra screen protector that flips over. And its unbearable to use the tablet with that extra dangling around in the back making it very uncomfortable to use.
Yeah that's what I suspected, its a shame. There is this third style I was looking at as well - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0197QBAEM/
It's the Moko case, but no cutout, more like a traditional case. Instead the kickstand rests on the inside of the case.
Have something like this also. You're gonna get irritated of the leather covering the edges of the screen.
Its a no go.
Have also one with plastic edges that it snaps into but that also is not good to use.
Posting picture of my pouch soon
Get something like this. Its so much more convenient.
Hello,
I've been searching endlessly where to buy the Lenovo X703F LTE
Pls where did you get yours?
Bought mine at a electronic shop in Norway. Elkjop.no i payed about 3400 NOK
Hi, I know this thread is a little old (and yet still top thread in this subforum!) so I thought I would update this. I just bought a Yoga Tab 3 Plus and have still to find a case that stays always on the tablet.
In the meantime I am using the Mosiso iPad Pro 10.5 Case Sleeve (I bought mine on Amazon Canada - https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B074N3SDPD/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1) which fits the tablet perfectly and feels quite secure. I try and just hold onto the thing when it is out of the case, though I am sure I will drop it eventually.
I am using one of the cheapest 9H screen protectors I could find on eBay (http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Premium-9H-T...var=660813795911&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649) and it fits perfectly! Like a good planner, I bought two - and immediately ruined the first one. The second one turned out much better.
Do not buy the Moko flip case, it sucks.
Hi, I'm still looking for a tpu/silicon back case for my tab 3 8 plus (aka Lenovo P8). But it seems really hard to find something useful...

S8+ Back

Samsung made such a beautiful phone; almost as nice as the note 7 IMO, and they focus so much on a nice screen but then they make a very very thin back glass that seems to crack way to easy. In my opinion they need to ditch the back glass and make it aluminum or something of that nature. I have had my s8+ for less than a week and today i was testing out my vr and i set down the head set kind of hard onto my couch where my remote was. It was no more than a 6 inch drop and the back glass ended up cracking. I am the least bit thrilled about it. Opinions?
Grab a dbrand.com skin and apply it on the back. You'll totally forget the glass is cracked
Is Dbrands the best out there? and why? I see there are a ton of different kinds so im curiour
You lost all credibility at "almost as nice as the note 7"

Doesn't have the spen, so....
Check your local samsung store, last time i checked for the S7E the price to switch back glass was $50. Who knows if its the same price on the S8.
The note 7 was by far the greatest phone i have ever used. Do not get me wrong, the S8+ is amazing and is probably the best phone out ATM but the note 7 was my favorite phone i have ever used due to a variety of reasons
Yeah there was something about the Note 7 that's missing.
Probably the fingerprint reader being on the back for starters.
And the glass back is to stay for wireless charging.
Would you rather a plastic back? Eww!
This is coming tomorrow!

I like to change cases, a LOT. A skin limits the options.

Nice choice I was going to purchase that but instead I have something very similar coming from China. Expecting it anyday as its landed in the UK Friday.
Always nice to have a thin sleek case that you can still feel the quality of the phones design.
I have it and it's a great case. Definitely not going to protect the front in a front down fall on concrete. That's what the Speck Presidio grip is for! When I'm not trail riding, trimming trees, etc. this case is perfect. Feels naked with a nice grip. And unlike the slim TPUs it doesn't feel like it's falling off when your fingers go past the curved edges of the screen. I think this is why Diztronic recalled theirs.
