Is there a way to get the cm9 browser on cm7? I extracted the APK, but when I try to install it, I get " there was an error parsing the package"
Sent from my NookColor using xda premium
Doubt it. There are certain things the APK may be looking for during installation that is not in CM7 and thus won't install. I'd just use dolphin browser instead.

Nope it uses the Android 4.0 SDK framework to make use of hardware acceleration and such that is not supported on Gingerbread (CM7)

I've tried a few but since the sdk is newer, I had parsing errors. I changed sdk to 14 to match ics and was able to install stuff like the launcher. Everything I tried kept FC. Only app that works for me without editing is the music app on my phone. Haven't got any yet to work on the tab.

Android Police released a leaked version of ICS Google music about a week ago. It does not work on the tab unless you search for a specific song. It WILL work on phones.

Hi,
I'm trying to download a game, but I installed ICS (latest kang) and obviously it's thinking I'm running 4.0.1 and the game won't run on this. Is there a way to edit build.prop or any other file so I can buy the game before the rebate ends.
Thanks in advance
EDIT: All I'm trying to know is if it's possible to change a file to make the Market app think I'm running something like 2.3.4 so I can buy the app??

Yup exactly and I know it's not my phone since my GF has the same, but hers is running stock android.
did you change LCD density
Only time I have issues with incompatible apps is when I mess with density and set to 210
Default is 240

Do a backup in CWM and install a GB rom, buy the app and restore your ICS rom in CWM. The long but sure way to get there..

This
but make sure u backup the app with titanium before you restore ics. Because still you won't be able to download from market.
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
Oh well, I thought about that, but I hope there would have been a faster way.
Still thanks everyone
Have you tried to browse to market.android.com on your PC and buy it there? Yesterday I couldn't buy an app on my phone, for me it worked that way.
you're lucky....at least your phone has a reason to think it's not compatible....I'm running stock 2.3.4 and I get that error message for at least 75% of the apps in the market....including gmail, etc. It's obnoxious!!!
Seriously, this isn't even a dump from online or anything...this is my original ROM backup restored via CWM that is doing it.
It thinks you're running 4.0.1? If you are running ICS euroskank kang you ARE running 4.0.1....

But really, don't use ICS as daily driver, it's way too buggy and slow. Very soon we will have the ICS OTA and then things will be different.. I hope..

How do I get tablet mode without bricking my phone???
Sent from my GT-N7000B using xda premium
You cannot get it if you are on any TouchWiz based Rom, it is not supported by the TW framework.
On any CM9-based Rom you can change your DPI to 213 or less to get the tablet.
It can be done either editing the build.prop file in /system folder, or by downloading Rom Toolbox from
the market and doing the DPI change from its build.prop tweaks.
However, some of the said CM9 Roms have special procedures for getting the tablet mode. Read the
instructions in the OP.

CM9-based Roms are the only safe ICS Roms ATM. They contain a safe custom kernel built from I9100 source code,
while everything else (including Sammy's offical Roms) has an excellent bricking potential.
So, your safe ICS options would be:
1. official CM9
2. Asylum ICS
3. ParanoidAndroid
4. MIUI
However, read the flashing instructions VERY carefully.

Does anyone know if there is an App available which would allow you to do edits to the frameworks as mentioned above so that the N7000 running XLPT could be conveniently switched from tablet to none-tablet modes?

edits to the framework since its TW would need to be done via decompiling the jar files and apk files, doing smali/xml editing, recompiling the jars/apks, pushing them to your device, fixing permissions, rebooting, changing dpi then rebooting again
its not as simple as an app that edits frameworks. its alot more work then you would figure, TW is a b!tch

download it(not from the market) and install it. make sure that unknown sources is enabled(main device settings, security). or there are a few flash installer apps in the play store. flash wont work in the default chrome browser(chrome isnt flash capable), but it will work in the aosp android browser.

no, since previous versions might have some capabilities issues with jellybean, its probably safer just to flash the latest.

The AOSP browser is not included since Jellybean, therefore the "stock" browser on Jellybean would be Chrome, by definition of "stock".
