None of the apps I've tried from the Market have worked, so I'm wondering if there's a file somewhere I can either change permissions on, rename to a .bak file or some other form of hackery in order to disable the lock screen. If anyone knows how to do it, I would really appreciate the tip!

You have provided little info on what ROM you are using to know what you are trying to do and what apps you have tried.
I used nolock without any issues on the stock ROM.
He's trying to make it so he no longer has a ... lockscreen? Lol
@OP, I haven't been able to do this either.
@krelvin, do you have your wallpaper locked? I'm stock, but rooted, and what not; no lock crashed on me when I tried it last.

Yes. It is locked by having changed the permissions of the wallpaper files, don't recall right off hand what the location was.

I've used nolock on my KF without any issues. I had it working on my phone (Dinc), but a new management policy from work stopped it from working.
I like the idea but just tried nolock and get force closing on 6.2.0

I'm sorry...I'm using the stock ROM. I also tried NoLock, but it kept force closing once setting it, and wouldn't work. Since you got it to work, I'll try it again, maybe clearing data once I install it might help.

+1 to this. Its in the tablet tweaks. Plus there is the amazon kindle app, in the regular Android market not just the amazon one and that takes care of all the ebooks you have. Maybe you should flash CM7!!?? Its freaking sweet! So so much better then the stock Rom....

I have searched this and cannot get a solid answer, and I googled it, but its not talked about really except for incoming messages and I tried those fixes and it didn't work.
I am using Cyanogenmod 7.1 and all of my outgoing messages are blurred.
I tried the method of using the custom user agent, but it did not work, any ideas?
Thanks!!
Can you be more specific on 'blurred'?
A screenshot would be very helpful in seeing exactly what it's doing.
Here is the same screen shot, one is the one that is what I sent to my friend and is in my outgoing message, the other is the original screenshot in my gallery.

So outgoing picture messages are blurred?
Are they blurred when you look at them or do they get blurred when they reach the recipient?
Well when I load it into the message to be sent it looks fine. I then click send and it goes out. Then if I open it in the message to see what was sent it is blurred. And the person who recieves gets a blurry picture too. It has to have something to do with the messaging since it looks fine untilled it actually gets sent.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
I've got 2 possible fixes.
1, your messaging program has a setting in it that reduces the size of your picture messages in order to use less data when sending or receiving. I can't begin to guess where to tell you to look in settings since I don't know what messaging program you are using. But that's my best guess.
2, your messaging program is fubar for some reason so try a different message program.
hmmm... Well I did look around a bit in the messaging program to try and find any setting that would reduce the size, but I didn't find anything, that's why I asked here hoping others would have had this problem as well.
Anyway thanks for trying!
Try another messaging app and see if that fixes it. Even if you hate the new app, if it fixes it you'll know the problem is in your messaging app.
I recommend Go SMS. But there's like 9 billion to choose from on the market. Most are free.
Or just try reflashing cm

If I back up with Titanium Backup and reflash then I can reload my phone to how it was before after I flash it, correct?
Yes, you can. You'll also want to save your ADW settings separately. There's an option in the ADW menu to backup settings. That'll bring your icons and widgets back to the right places on your screens, plus any other settings you have.
You don't need to remember where you saved it. The new copy of ADW will know where to look for it on the SD card.
Just be sure not to use Titanium Backup to replace your messaging app! I've done that before, where something couldn't be fixed so I reflashed the ROM, then promptly reinstalled the bad version of the app because I wasn't paying attention.
thank you!
It's a size/dimension restriction in the stock messaging app that causes your pictures to be sent blurry. I had to stay off CM7 for a few months because of that. Check out TDJ's new CM7.2 ROM/kang. He has fixed this issue by increasing the stock messasging app restrictions on size and dimensions, so they do not get compressed and blurry.

No, flashing just the kernel will not fix it. The settings are within the Messaging app itself , so you have to either pull the apk from TDJ's CM7.2 ROM and push it to yours, or flash the ROM. I advise you to just flash TDJ's ROM, it is fantastic.
Just few quick tips that will help you get amazing results:
1. get the app called Autostarts from the market
2. in the app kill after reboot google maps, talk and social hub(you can find it on scond line in the application from the possible options.
3. Get Titanium
freeze wifi sharing manager and wifi manager.
You are done
Enjoy!
Have you tried dl'ing anything from the market after doing this? Because in the help section it says you might not be able to dl anything from it if you disable Google Talk.
Why not just log out from Google Talk instead?

I think the point is to have it done automatically every time.
Exactly! You can stop them manually but they will reappear again. With the program mentioned above you can do it for good - google maps, google voice will not longer drain the battery without need. Tiatanium will take care for wifi sharing manager and wifi manager - yet another big, big battery drainer that won't affect the phone in any way
Thanks for the tip. I got the program autostarts but I am not able to manually disable google map and voice. I just see several lines of google services framework. Is this it?

Time to do some testing. I already had autostarts on another recommendation, but was lost on what to do with it.
I have found that using a very (very) minimal homescreen on a black background, using a dark profile for all apps that have the option, and turning wifi off when not needed, I can get at least 2 and a half days out of one charge with light use.
Going to see if this impacts my numbers any. Thanks!

The trick of my recommendation is that the phone is folling in deep sleep when not in use and by that way you can almost double the battery life, of course if not in constant use. To be sure that you are doing alright go get frkm tne market Battery monitor widget, install the widget and if you are running at about 50mA in sleep mode you are just fine.

If you're rooted hit up your root file browser, go to system> app> delete anything that says widget. I've tried all the lock screen controls and it does nothing to remove them.
[Edit]: Just be aware when you use this method the clock and the user info may also go bye bye.
You can also disable the native lock screen and install a third party with no frills.

I had this app installed that provided the ability to autohide the softkeys, but decided to uninstall it. After rebooting the phone it still has the softkeys autohiding, and I am not sure where to look to disable this function.

I emailed the programmer but haven't heard back as of yet, and wonder if anyone else has an idea where to look to restore softkeys to default.

Did you restore the soft keys before uninstalling the app? That would be my first step. If that does not work, you'll have to reflash your rom.

Those screens in the App Store are no where to be found, not even in the paid version.
So I reflashed:
system.img
boot.img
vendor.img
But the softkeys are still autohiding. Looks like I need a complete wipe to get rid of it. I find it disheartening that the screenshots shown on the Appstore that show a way to disable the app are not actually part of the installed app.

Unfortunately, that's on the developer to maintain and they appear to be unhelpful. Everything should go back to normal after a factory reset. I suggest using a custom rom to auto hide those keys, if you are so inclined.

If you're using a task-killing app,it is likely the culprit,ditch it & don't look back.
If not,check the following:
Go to SETTINGS > APPS > QUICK MEMO+ & ensure that all app permissions are enabled.
Also,go to SETTINGS > BATTERY & POWER SAVING,tap on BATTERY USAGE & scroll down to Ignore optimizations & choose QUICK MEMO+
Other than that, the only other recommendation I have is to clear all the app data from QuickMemo+ & try again.

I appreciate your help. It's just one of those little things that irk me. I'm very happy with the phone and everything is working great so no need to return it. Not sure about AT&T (just switched) but if it's anything like Verizon going there would be a complete waste of time.
I'm coming from the 5x and prior to that, quite a few years if rooting and custom ROMs. Like I said I'm very happy with this device but I wanted to try and take advantage of as much of the stock software as possible, since I'm so used to customizing my phone to the exact same setup for so long.
I'll live with it, and again thanks for your help.
