Hello just wondering if it was possible to disable the lock screen notification alert. I'd like to use the stock notification widget but its overridden by the lock screen widget.
Thanks in advance!

Or is there something that I'm missing in settings that will turn off lock screen notifications? Thanks to anyone that can assist with this..:beer:

If you're rooted hit up your root file browser, go to system> app> delete anything that says widget. I've tried all the lock screen controls and it does nothing to remove them.
[Edit]: Just be aware when you use this method the clock and the user info may also go bye bye.
You can also disable the native lock screen and install a third party with no frills.

Thanks for your reply. When removing the apk you mentioned it also removed the widget I wanted to use instead.

Yes
Yes there is.
There's a post somewhere on XDA that explains how to achieve this, or theres a paid app on GP that gives you more control over when/how for rotation.
Search.
In the data folder. There might be a file called local.prop. If there is then add this line if there isn't then create the file and add the line:
launcher.force_enable_rotation=true
Then save and restart. That should give you homescreen rotation and lockscreen rotation.

That fix definitely worked for me but, only for the home screen, not the lock screen

Got the home screen to rotate but not the lock screen. That would be awesome if we can figure out how to do this. Hate it when it is horizontal and I have to tilt it sideways.
Use this, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.fameit.rotate

Hullo all!
Many of us don't have shortcuts on the lockscreen, not even with security set to swipe or off. For some reason, Samsung removed this from most EU and AU firmware. Annoying, because they were very convenient.
I've found a workaround that doesn't require Root or a custom lockscreen. :victory: As it turns out, they only removed the menu setting, not the option itself.
What you'll need:
- Custom Launcher like Apex or Nova. (You can uninstall it again later if you prefer Touchwiz.)
- Security set to SWIPE. For security reasons, it simply doesn't show up otherwise. That's a feature, not a bug.
What to do:
I did this on Apex, but I imagine the others work much the same:
hit the Optionkey when you're at the Homescreen.
Add
Shortcuts
Activities
Settings
Shortcuts (.lockscreenshortcut.locscreenshortcutsettings)
Open the newly made shortcut
Toggle the 0 to 1.
Change the apps the same way as always, by dragging them to the bin below and hitting + for adding new ones.
There you go, they're back.

Tested on Stock, unrooted DBT 4.3 MK2/MJ7/MK2.
What do you mean set toggle from 0 to 1. I don't have a toggle just the shortcut icons. But the still don't appear on the lockscreen

Hello my Galaxy S5 Verizon version doesn't display weather on the weather widget. It has been a few days but thought would figure out on weekend. Can someone please help what should I do other than factory reset? I have a screenshot.

Turn location ON
Figured out. Had to clear data in application manager and weather and then just restart and it worked

Another fix for the weather widget
I tried to solve my problem by going into Application Manager and stopping this app and deleting the cache.
However that did not help me.
So, I looked into the Settings / Application Manager / "Turned Off" section.
There I saw that an application named "Unified Daemon" was turned off.
After I turned this back "On", my weather widget was working.
FIXED**

Anybody know where to setup lock screen shortcuts? I'm coming from an S3 and had the ability to set four or five app shortcuts on the lock screen with the stock laucher/lock screen. Is the feature gone?

Sorry madhacker7 its a feature thats lost now on the s5....you can not change shortcuts on the s5...But if you're not a samsung fanboy and would love to try something new try c locker

Lock screen shortcuts, quick glance and half the TW camera modes were the three things I was pretty disappointed with coming from the S4...luckily if we ever find root, these are all things we can port over from the Note 3 and GS4

Samsung has pulled back in some of its customizations, including the ability to set as many shortcuts on the lock screen -- such as shortcuts to the browser, dialer, and messaging inbox. This was a convenient feature though.
Hey as i said earlier try c locker its a good locker app fir shortcut setting...

While on the topic of lockscreen, is there a way to extend the timeout on the lock screen? mine is way to short.
I installed the Galaxy Locker from the play store... Free and does an awesome job replicating the s4 lock screen... Complete with shortcuts, custom wallpaper, notifications, etc.

Is there a way to change this sound? There is nothing in settings. Perhaps anyone knows in which folder this sound file is?
Thanks,
The only way to change is by changing the "Screen swipe effect" in the Lock Screen Settings when you have swipe to unlock. each swipe effect has a different lock/unlock sound.

You can use a root Explorer and replace the corresponding files in the ui folder. The route to get to that folder is in the screenshot... I would backup files first, though...

Its on System/media/audio/ui. Search the lock screen you want to use. Find any .OGG file from other phones and renamed them for that lock screen. I have the Star Wars sounds for the S pen for Note 3 for lockscreen.
