Is there a way to change this sound? There is nothing in settings. Perhaps anyone knows in which folder this sound file is?
Thanks,
The only way to change is by changing the "Screen swipe effect" in the Lock Screen Settings when you have swipe to unlock. each swipe effect has a different lock/unlock sound.

You can use a root Explorer and replace the corresponding files in the ui folder. The route to get to that folder is in the screenshot... I would backup files first, though...

Its on System/media/audio/ui. Search the lock screen you want to use. Find any .OGG file from other phones and renamed them for that lock screen. I have the Star Wars sounds for the S pen for Note 3 for lockscreen.

Any possible solution to get the lockscreen into tablet mode? Kinda annoying unlocking portrait while holding landscape.

Yes
Yes there is.
There's a post somewhere on XDA that explains how to achieve this, or theres a paid app on GP that gives you more control over when/how for rotation.
Search.
In the data folder. There might be a file called local.prop. If there is then add this line if there isn't then create the file and add the line:
launcher.force_enable_rotation=true
Then save and restart. That should give you homescreen rotation and lockscreen rotation.

That fix definitely worked for me but, only for the home screen, not the lock screen

Got the home screen to rotate but not the lock screen. That would be awesome if we can figure out how to do this. Hate it when it is horizontal and I have to tilt it sideways.
Use this, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nl.fameit.rotate

I believe I tried that already and it only worked on the home screen. Not the lock screen.
set orientation did it for me https://play.google.com/store/apps/...eyesfree.setorientation&feature=search_result
+1 worked great for me!

Hello just wondering if it was possible to disable the lock screen notification alert. I'd like to use the stock notification widget but its overridden by the lock screen widget.
Thanks in advance!

If you're rooted hit up your root file browser, go to system> app> delete anything that says widget. I've tried all the lock screen controls and it does nothing to remove them.
[Edit]: Just be aware when you use this method the clock and the user info may also go bye bye.
You can also disable the native lock screen and install a third party with no frills.

Anybody know where to setup lock screen shortcuts? I'm coming from an S3 and had the ability to set four or five app shortcuts on the lock screen with the stock laucher/lock screen. Is the feature gone?
Sent from my SM-G900V using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Sorry madhacker7 its a feature thats lost now on the s5....you can not change shortcuts on the s5...But if you're not a samsung fanboy and would love to try something new try c locker
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Premium HD app
Lock screen shortcuts, quick glance and half the TW camera modes were the three things I was pretty disappointed with coming from the S4...luckily if we ever find root, these are all things we can port over from the Note 3 and GS4

Samsung has pulled back in some of its customizations, including the ability to set as many shortcuts on the lock screen -- such as shortcuts to the browser, dialer, and messaging inbox. This was a convenient feature though.
Hey as i said earlier try c locker its a good locker app fir shortcut setting...

While on the topic of lockscreen, is there a way to extend the timeout on the lock screen? mine is way to short.
I installed the Galaxy Locker from the play store... Free and does an awesome job replicating the s4 lock screen... Complete with shortcuts, custom wallpaper, notifications, etc.

Can someone tell me how to change the menu color. I have seen the power menu it self changed to a brushed metal background and I want to do that for mine but I can't find any answers.
are you talking about from power saving? that changes everything to grayscale.... settings > power saving > power saving mode > turn on grayscale mode
Sent from my primary sender for sending
No, just normal. I just want to be able to have a different color power menu screen or maybe even have a picture I took as the menu screen with the power off, reboot, emergency.... Etc... On top of it. Does that make sense?
Sent from my SM-G900V using XDA Free mobile app
Maybe you can post a screen shot of the menu you're talking about? from your last message sounds like when you hold the power button down and the "phone options" pops up. If so, then sounds like you're looking for something from either a custom rom or a theme. If you're on stock, you won't get options like that.

I'm rooted running risks rom. If it's a theme, do you know what theme will change the background and maybe change the screenshot icon

Its not exactly easy to modify system colors. Perhaps an xposed module will be your best bet.
I have not seen an xposed mod that will do that

This may be a stupid question, but on the M8 I could add sounds into the notification folder to use for texts and such. Now, the 10 is not allowing it "read only" it says.
Also, no addition button similar to the ringtones.
Is there something I'm overlooking? Or for a simple sound file move am I going to have to root?
Sent from my HTC6545LVW using XDA-Developers mobile app
Create a folder anywhere (internal or external) named Notifications, and reboot.
To be clear, you don't have to reboot, but that's the fastest way for the phone to repopulate the notification list with the new sounds.

Wow that was simple. Thank you very much! I've always just put the file in system/media/audio/notificatons and it's worked before. Not this time.
Appreciate it!

I had no problems without root setting up custom notifications on the 10. just copied them over to the folder like you said. don't know why says read only, did you set it by accident in a explorer app?
Peace....
it still doesnt work for me....am I missing something?

No it surprised me too. I'm not sure what was going on. I did the recommendation above but dropped the file in the default Notifications folder instead of making a new one. Worked just fine then.

Thanks for the answer to my issue also. I found a few notification sounds and ringtones from days gone by and wanted to use them. All the best.
