How can i root?

I just installed the official 2.3 in mu huawei u8800 and i rooted with z4root but it didnt work
So is ot another way to root huawei u8800
Sent from my U8800 using XDA App
superoneclick or doomlord' s root works, but need some other actions before.
There is already a thread about rooting and some other useful info for 2.3 original in developing section. No needed a new thread for that.

upgrading

so here's the thing. i am plannig to upgrade to official 2.3. i was simply too afraid to do it for now so i would like to ask you guys what do i have to do BEFORE upgrading. first thing i should do is to backup IMEI, right? and how do i do that? anything else?
i know how to upgrade (dload...etc), i just want to do all (safety) preparations

hehe my biggest fear is imei. how can i backup it? will it be enough to just make backup of folder efs?
copy all folder in pink screen mode after that just update...(dload) and enjoy 2.3.5
after that u also able to flash ics 4.0
best of luck
Install 5Iromtoolbox and backup you imei, then install the rom

Don't install the latest release if you want to root your phone later and install a custom rom (is easier with 522 version).

Also remember to revert to the original partition layout, if you changed it using Geno's script. you can revert back later.
bootloader becomes inaccessible after 518 version. read the guide on getting the pink screen after you upgrade.

First root ur phone by downloading z4root file available in first page of this thread then download ROM manager and select first option..flash clock word mod. Then download ROM and gapps whichever u want to install. Then reboot into recovery by pressing vol- and power key. Then wipe data..wipe cache...wipe dalvic cache in advance. Then install ROM from SD card and then install gapps. That's it

z4root is easy and no danger for newbie
then for testing root, install superuser and try it to authorize access to root.
THANKS
IMO best option is flash 2.1 with fastboot then flash cwm and soft with root
