Assume your phone is rooted? I have had my inspre 4g (same phone as HD) hang a few times and by just removing the battery, waiting a few minutes and then restarting (while holding the down volumn button) got me back to recovery, From there you can either restore from previous backup or load another rom from your sd card. Some more info would help,

iam newbie
but i don't know how to load another rom?and which rom will work?
can you give just hint please?
If you don't have a clue I'd say download an RUU exe from the development forum and run that. It will reinstall a stock copy of android on it.

so which rom will be need?
and guide me.
Search for oxygen rom on xda (I know this rom works since I'm using it) and then put it on an SD card and put that into your phone. Take the battery out and put it back in after a couple of mins, hold volume down and power till it boots into cwm then use the volume buttons to go up and down
And power button to select and first do a wipe and factory reset then install zip for SD card, back up if you want but not sure if there is any point keeping a back up of something that doesn't work. Hope this helps we were all newbies at one point lol

First of all, you need to research before you go and try rooting and installing custom roms. Its essential to be prepared for hiccups along the way. You said you did a factory reset, that's not good. By doing that you have deleted your clockworkmod recovery. So you have two options reinstall cwr and flash a custom rom or simply reinstall an ruu.
I actually wrote a guide for this issue, as it happens alot. Its called "stuck in hboot read this" its in the general section. Their it has steps on how to reflash cwr or an ruu

Hello all, new to the site so I hope I haven't posted this in the wrong place.
I used Unrevoked on my Wildfire yesterday, got it rooted and did a backup using titanium. So far so good.
Downloaded: 0001_WildPuzzleROM_v8.0.11.zip and threw it on the SD card.
Did the sound-down button + power / recovery / install zip from sdc / found my new rom, installed the thing without errors and booted it.
But now it won't go past the HTC bootscreen?
I have to take the battery out, it just hangs at the bootscreen.
I then thougt "oh happy days, I'll just do the recovery and then load the backup I took by using titanium.
same story..
I am doing something wrong but now after using 4 hours on google I've found about 60 different solutions and I'm none the wiser.

Did you do a full wipe before you flashed...? Wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache.
Uhm.. no.
I thought the "wipe data+settings+cache" would also clear out my SD card (where my rom is)?
So to proceed from here, the next order of business I'll be doing is:
wipe data+settings+cache and THEN load the puzzle.zip onto the WF, correct?
No a full wipe only clears out phone memory. Do a search beforehand.
And the rom gets installed to your phone memory not sd card.
1. Do a full wipe.
2. Go to install zip from sd card
3. Select rom and flash it.
firstly, it may take somewhere in the line of 5 to 10 minutes on first boot after flashing a new rom. Make sure you waited enough.
After waiting more than 15 minutes, read this:
I was a happy flashing bastard until I also got the bootloop, after doing a restore.
I then put on my wizard hat and pull out the SD card, slap onto it the last rom I knew it worked (openfire in my case).
After the first boot I connect the phone to the pc, I download a shipped rom from http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Buzz/ ( I downloaded the last one, http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Buz...3.55.24H_3.35.19.25_release_151892_signed.exe in my case )
I launch the flash utility, and watch as my wildfire turns stock, unrooted, once more.
Some recommend doing this before installing any custom rom. This and a full wipe of the sd card.
But not me. It would make the rom flashing rather time consuming.
Enjoy!
I owe you guys an update (winterparty came in the way (or actually not, I was the geek sitting in the corner fumbling with my phone ))
Anyways, I did a full data/setting/cache wipe, ran the puzzle.zip and voila.
It's now been running for 28H and is still doing great.
Angry birds is a little bit better (joy!).
The whole feel around the new sw is such an improvement.
Thanks for all your help and I'll bookmark that "return to stock" link at once. Thanks again!

I'm not going to be able to give you much help apart from this.
Please provide more details, what rom you were running before you had problems, were you trying to do anything that may caused the bootloop. The more details you provide the easier it is for people to help you.

Oh sorry I was trying to unroot my other g2 I managed to get s-on but now I still have CWM recovery and s-on and I can't flash anything.

The only thing that I can think of is to flash the Gingerbread Tmobile G2 rom posted by Football.
Remember after you flash it you will not be able to root again or get S-Off, at least for now, but you will have a fully working Gingerbread Tmobile G2.
So use this as a last resort, to use it download the rom, make sure its named PC10IMG.zip and place it on the root of your sd card, if you cant mount your sd card in the phone remove it and use a card reader on your computer to place the PC10IMG on the root of your sd card, once this is done place it back into your phone, then hold volume down + power button, it will boot into bootloader and detect the PC10IMG and ask if you want to update, use the volume button to select yes, then let it do its thing and reboot, you should now have a fully working Gingerbread TMobile G2.

made a thread about this also http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1102350
but my issue was different,i wasn't unrooting the device,i was trying to flash a new rom. check the last post in that thread please. i flashed the mexdroid mexperia rom and put the pc10img zip file back on the sd card after the whole wiping data/cache and backing up my old rom...yet it only turns on to be stuck at the htc screen and wont start. i have the marvel bootanimation on there, and that doesn't even pop up. any help would be great.
should i do the same as you reccomended already or can i go by it a different way?
Hello all,
I successfully rooted (temp rooted using Visionary) my phone: myTouch 4g 2 days ago, and had removed all stock apps. Then I felt I wanted the stock mail app back, so I tried to reinstall it. Since it was showing errors, I renamed the /system/lib/libm.so file to /system/lib/libm_orig.so thinking that it was related to the mail app. Realizing my mistake, I tried renaming it back but in vain. I restarted my phone and now it does not boot at all. (what was I thinking!!? just one rename caused all of this!)
To all experts here - Do I have a chance to get my phone working back? If so, what should I do?
I have tried the following:
- tried a factory reset (I have never flashed a custom rom on it), but no luck.
- fastboot a clockwork recovery image, but no luck. It says "writing recovery... FAILED (remote: not allowed)
- adb shell - does not find the device
- By the way, before I made the renaming-change, I had turned off 'USB debugging'.
Some info that shows on the screen after vol down + power:

Did you make a nandroid backup of your rom before you removed anything and can you boot into recovery, not boot loader but recovery with all the orange text? If the answer is yes to both, then boot into recovery and select backup/restore and then select restore and restore the backup.

That was my first thought, but then I remembered he only temp rooted. You can't install a custom recovery with only temp root. As for the problem, I don't know of a solution. It actually sounds kind of bad because there is no backup, no custom recovery to flash anything new, no engineering bootloader to use fastboot, and the phone won't boot which would allow the phone to be perm rooted with gfree or Visionary. This might be a PD15IMG.zip situation.

As you said before, we all miss stuff.
Thanks guys! That was real quick!
So when you say: "This might be a PD15IMG.zip situation.", do you mean the instructions below? (got it from androidforums.com/mytouch-4g-all-things-root/234246-mytouch-4g-roms-2.html)
The easiest way to unroot is to boot into HBOOT (the same place you check for S-OFF) and flash PD15IMG.zip (DO NOT TRY TO FLASH THROUGH RECOVERY!)
PD15IMG.zip will overwrite everything on the phone and turn S-ON, reinstall oem recovery, and reinstall the stock ROM as it was the very first time you turned on the phone. Truly one-click.
Unrooting is so easy I really can't think of any reason not to. Here's the guide.
theunlockr.com/2010/12/16/how-to-unroot-the-t-mobile-mytouch-4g
Download the file. Rename to PD15IMG.zip. Make sure it's pd15img.zip and not pd15img.zip.zip. Do you have file extensions showing in windows? Do you know what that means?
Copy file to root of sdcard. Not in a folder, just on the sdcard.
Power off phone and remove battery. Reinstall battery but do not power on phone.
Hold vol down + power until you get to a white screen. The phone should "detect" pd15img.zip.
Follow the on-screen instructions to update.
DO NOT TOUCH IT UNTIL IT'S DONE AND REBOOTS ON ITS OWN INTO THE STOCK ROM. This might take a while.
Yep, that's exactly it. There are a couple threads that have that file in it. The file is ~312MB in size. That will restore your phone to 100% out-of-the-box, post OTA status. Of course you'll loose any personal data stored in internal memory.
This is the original thread on restoring your phone to unrooted stock, but the download there doesn't seem to work anymore.
This thread has a working download link to the same file. Just make sure you rename it to PD15IMG.zip before trying to flash it.
Ok, thanks so much! I will let you guys know how it goes.

Thanks so much guys! It worked as you said.. and it was so simple too!
One thing I checked though was that the s-off was not changed to s-on.. which is ok, right? I would like to root permanently (this time taking necessary backups . Does the s-off/on play any role in whether I can root or not?
S-off is a good thing young grasshopper..thats what ur attempting to do when you root
is there anything else i can do to flash roms still? or am i stuck on my icecoldsandwich backup forever?
Bootloader version?
how would one go about locating this?
Reboot. When your screen goes black and backlight on keys goes out hold down volume down to boot into bootloader. Write down the info displayed at the top of the screen and post it here.

Is bootloader even relevant here? Anyway, are you sure its the eMMC? Usually symptoms for bad emmc include lag and ending up with a shiny paperweight. Why domt you try reflashing cwr?

Yes it is relevant. Very. Ever since the HTCdev unlocked boot loader came about I've seen some weird things. By telling us what bootloader he has we know exactly what he is dealing with.

Engineering bootloader. So you should be good to flash another rom. Reflash CWM recovery using ROM manager, just in case there is sonething wonky with your recovery. Download your desired rom. Reboot into recovery. Make a backup. Go to mounts and storage. Format system and data, and wipe cache. Go back to main menu and hit wipe data/factory reset. Then install your rom.
If you have tried those steps before to no avail then.... I don't know.
Tried flashing cwm again through rom manager again. I was getting hopeful when I noticed the bootanimation was lasting longer then usual...then my heart sank when it froze.
Just to make sure I did it right
I reflashed cwm using the rom manager app
Formatted system data and cache under mounts and storage
Factory data and full wipe them cache and dalvik
Flashed the latest version of the ice cold sandwich rom
And then freeze..
No, that was pretty frickin thorough. Man.... what a drag. I don't get it. Does anyone have any ideas at all?
Flash a non ics Rom, that might be it

what if you tried flashing one of those RUU files at least to get hte phone back to stock.
You know where you hook your phone up to the computer and then run the .exe file from your computer?
Hi, I tried to unlock my HTC Desire HD with Ace Advanced Hack Kit tools, when finished the process I tried to flash Revolution HD ROM using the Clockworkmod Recovery mode, It showed "Install from sdcard complete.", but when I try to boot the phone it stay in white HTC Logo screen and don't change.
I saw in the HBOOT screen and It's saying that it's with S-ON yet, but if I was able to flash the ClockworkMod, I think that it was with S-OFF right? So how can I unbrick my phone, I tried to reflash the ROM and nothing changed.
Someone have some suggestion?
Regards,
can you get to bootloader?
if so, select recovery from there
when in recovery connect to computer
put on ROM zip file
flash
reboot
Run ace hack kit and make sure your phone is security off?
Or maybe u dont wait long enough. For first boot after flashing rom, it tooks several MINUTES to boot up.

guys i have got the same problem,i can not install any rom,it keeps giving me error when i try to install it from recovery, even after i wiped everything.
from Hboot also, when i enter it,after few seconds it stars to check but nothing happens and by the way it shows S-on
1. Make sure the ARHD .zip you have isn't corrupted, you can test it with winrar test, if the test failed, you should get another copy. Some are corrupted during copying from pc to sdcard
2. Do a full wipe with superwipe script before flashing, it's quite crucial too.

Then u didn't finish the process with the Hack Kit. You probably did the downgrade but failed to run the Hack Kit again. Now, you have to flash a RUU and then re run the Kit in order to gain S-OFF and root.

yes, here's a problem: you did not read the manual completely , because the notes that DO NOT FLASH A CUSTOM ROM(android revolution for example) WITH S-ON, should have checked first that you have s-off, when I forget which is the solution but I think that you can still unbrick your phone, search for avanced ace hack kit irc channel, they can help you.
Flash RUU 2.50.*.* and try aahk again, it should work right.
